  • Another Synergy issue: screen lock on Windows Server 2003

    I have set up Synergy on Unix systems with no problems, however when I set up a Synergy server on a Windows Server 2003 box using I get an error message that the mouse cursor is locked when trying to move to the client system. I use a Microsoft Natural keyboard in case that matters (seems Scroll Lock might be involved). Does anyone have experience with using Synergy on Windows systems that have reported mouse screen locking in the log when unable to mouse over to a client system?

  • SharePoint 2010 – Central Admin tooling to create host header site collections

    Just like SharePoint 2007, you can create host-header based site collections in SharePoint 2010 as well. It means, that you do not necessarily need to create a site-collection under a managed path like /sites/, you can create multiple root-level site collections on same web-application/port by using host-header site collections. All you need to do is point your domain or sub-domain to your web-application and create a matching site-collection that you want. But, just like in 2007, it is something that you do by using STSADM, and is not available on Central Admin UI in 2010 as well. I used PowerShell initially, but then got interested to build my own UI on Central Admin instead. Developed with Visual Studio 2010 So I used new Visual Studio 2010 tooling to create an empty SharePoint 2010 project. Added an application page (there is no option to add _Admin page item in VS 2010 RC), that got created in Layouts “mapped” folder. Created a new Admin mapped folder for 14-“hive”, and moved my new page there instead. Yes, I didn’t change the base class for page, its just that it runs under _admin, but it is indeed a LayoutsPageBase inherited page. IIS 5.1 When i am trying to create a VS 2003 web project giving the localhost as path i am getting the following error. "visual studio noted that specified web server is not running under asp .net 1.1 version.You will be unable to run asp .net web applications or services". I have used aspnet_regiis commands as well as a tool(ASPNETVersionSwitcher.exe ) to swith versions and in iis also default web site asp.net version chosen as asp .net 1.14322. Still i am getting the error. same error i get ,if i point a virtual directory in the existing 1.1 .net web application and trying to open it.   • Problem with Access 2003 linking tables with SQL Server 2008 using ODBC

    I am trying to link an Access 2003 DB to tables in a SQL Server 2008 database using ODBC. When I try to link to tables that have Primary Key established I get the following error message. " 'Pk_dbo.Batch_Claims' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not to long. " Pk_dbo.Batch_Claims is the key value I see when looking at the table through SSMS. I have used Access for awhile but am somewhat new to SQL Server and connections using ODBC. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi, I used to remote access the SBS 2003 server through RDC and it has been working all the time but now I am unable to connect to the server. Whenever I pressed the "Connect" button on the Remote Desktop Connection dialog, a dialog with messages like "Connecting to: xx.xx.xx.xx" and "Configuring remote session..." appeared and then disappeared quickly, leaving the Remote Desktop Connection dialog there. How to fix the problem? Is the any way to reinstall the Remote Desktop on the server. Thank you.

    Blank directories are being created on my Windows Server 2003 virtual server with sub directories that are weird (for example: "88ÿ ÿ ÿÿþþ þþ13þ"). It looks like they are uploading bootlegged DVDs and pirated software. All of my bandwidth and file space is being eaten up. Could this be a shared permissions issue? Where should I look to further investigate this? My security permissions for the directory that is being hit are as followed: Administrators - ALL GRANTED IIS_WPG - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Internet Guest - DENY SYSTEM - ALL GRANTED Users - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read My Event Viewer is showing many Logon/Logoff with NO IP?

I am using the WMI namespace exchange_publicfolder to try and add an Exchange server (using the servers DN) to the AddReplica procedure. Every time I run this I get an invalid parameter as an exception. Below is the code that I am using to do this.     Hi, I am trying to execute a SSIS 2008 package on a 64-bit OS and import Excel 2003 files to SQL Server 2008. I have created an OLEDB Connection to the Excel file with a Connection String that retrieves the Excel file from a variable, inside the ForEach Loop Container. The Run64BitRunTime is set to false. I am not able to edit the SQL Command on the OLEDB Source in the Data Flow task. It returns an error : Error 2 Validation error. Load List Staged Table: Load List Staged Table: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "List OLEDB to Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. 0 0 Appreciate any help.

  • Fatal Error when using ADODB in VB6 on Windows Server 2003 SP2

    We've got a legacy app (VB6) which works fine on an old Windows Server 2003 box and has been for many years. Recently we've had to move it to a different physical location and in doing this we cloned the box with virtualisation and placed it elsewhere. In theory these two environments should be identical. On the new box however the app falls over when calling the RecordCount method of an ADODB.Recordset. I should say that I can successfully read the ADODB.RecordSet.Properties.Count property with no problem on the line before. The event viewer reports the following: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Date: 28/09/2012 Time: 11:15:27 User: N/A Computer: APP01 Description: Faulting application Control.exe, version 1.0.0.6, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.4789, fault address 0x0002c6e4. I can only imagine there is something wrong with using ADODB within a virtualised environment. Any ideas?

  • More memory usage for IIS 6 asp.net 2.0 on webserver 2003

    Running a webserver 2003 SP2 (x86) with IIS 6 and asp.net 2. The box is running mostly dynamic asp pages connecting to a sql 2008 server. At any given time there is over 1 gig of memory available out of the 2 gig in the box. It seems like there would be a way for it to make better use of the free memory. It is using a default machine.config file and default http.sys. I would like to maximize incoming internet connections and database connections.     I have a website that is using Windows Server 2003. The site is called https://mysite.com/ and at ip address 111.1.1.1. Now when I log into the site all my relative links that are generated using NavURL (<%# NavURL("Images/Menu/img.gif")%) are saying "http://111.1.1.1/Images/Menu/img.gif" instead of "https://mysite.com/Images/Menu/img.gif". This is causing an error because it needs to be secure. I'm sure there is a setting on the server somewhere to point to the name and not the ip, but I don't know where. Thanks for your help.
