• Fastest way to access VB6 String in C#

  Hi I am using COMInterop. I have a call in VB6 which returns a string of roughly 13000 chars. If I execute the call in pure VB6 it takes about 800ms to execute. If I execute it via c# and COMInterop it takes about 8 seconds. I'm assuming the delay is caused by marshalling. If I am correct about marshalling, I'd be grateful if someone could suggest the fastest way I can get this into C#. e.g. Would it be better to a) expose it as a byte array b) provide a byref string param into the VB6 layer I would appreciate some sample code as well. I tried the Marshal.PtrToStringAuto(Marshal.ReadIntPtr(myCOMObject.GetString, 0) to no avail Many thx S

• How to reset iPhone simulator

  My app uses the location service. To test what is happening when the user presses 'Don't allow' when the simulator asks for the permission to access the location service (when the app is started for the first time) I need to reset the simulator. This because the question was answered at the beginning of the development process with allow. So no more questions are asked. Reseting the Simulator with "Reseting Content and Settings.." don't bring back the question at the start. What I am doing wrong? thx in advance

• Caspol, VMs, Mapped Drives, VS2010

  Hi I have a VM (Win7 32 bit) with VS2010 installed. I have a drive mapped into it from the host machine (VM 64 bit), when I have some of my VS2010 projects and to where I am building them. One of my projects is looking to load an assembly. If I copy that assembly to a local drive, the program ruins fine. If I leave it on the mapped drive, then I get an error Exception is: FileLoadException - Could not load file or assembly 'file:///Z:\BusinessTier\bin\Debug\BusinessTier.dll I am unsure whether or not I need to run Caspol. There is another post on SO which pointed me to a post which indicated that VS2008 SP1+ removed the need for caspol wrt network drives, but I wondered if I still needed to because I am in a VM. I have tried running the following on the host machine in an attempt to give permissions to VS inside the VM, but to no avail C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30128>caspol -m -ag 1.2 -url file://g:\* FullTrust where g:* is the drive being mapped into the VM (as drive z:) What am I missing (apart from understanding!) Lets say i have 3 div tags, all are 100pixels wide: <--- DIV WIDTH ---> Text in div 1 Text in div two, it overflows Text in div three <--- DIV WIDTH ---> Now, currently i have this css for the divs: width:100px; overflow:hidden; What i want to do is if the text overflows, it scrolls like a marquee so all the text can be seen if you wait a little bit.   Here's the deal, we have a big JS library that we want to compress, but YUI compressor doesn't fully compress the code if it finds an "eval" statement, out of fear that it will break something else. That's great and all, but we know exactly what is getting eval'd, so we don't want it to get conservative because there's an eval statement in MooTools JSON.decode So basically the question is, is there any alternative (maybe creative) way of writing a expression that returns the eval function? I tried a few, but no dice: window['eval'](stuff); window['e'+'val'](stuff); // stuff runs in the global scope, we need local scope this['eval'](stuff); // this.eval is not a function (new Function( "with(this) { return " + '(' + stuff + ')' + "}"))() // global scope again Any ideas?   i' ve a problem in doing my final project... i'm having trouble with how to save multiple wav files into 1 wav file.. let's take an example: i have 3 wav files which are the syllables of the word "hospital" : "hos.wav", "pi.wav", and "tal.wav" (sorry if i'm wrong in determining the syllables of the words).. each of those syllable wav files contains utterances of the syllables of the word "hospital" respectively.. my task is to merge those files so that the word hospital could be reproduced from those files. and then to save the merged file to be a new wav file, let say "hospital.wav"..I've done my first task, but not with my second task... does anyone can help me? thx b4..

• GWT - ListBox - pre-selecting an item

  Hey there Stackoverflow, I got a doubt regarding pre-selecting(setSelectedIndex(index)) an item in a ListBox, Im using Spring + GWT. I got a dialog that contains a painel, this panel has a flexpanel, in which I've put a couple ListBox, this are filled up with data from my database. But this painel is for updates of an entity in my database, thus I wanted it to pre-select the current properties for this items, alowing the user to change at will. I do the filling up in the update method of the widget. I tried setting the selectedItem in the update method, but it gives me an null error. I've searched a few places and it seems that the listbox are only filled at the exact moment of the display. Thus pre-selecting would be impossible. I thought about some event, that is fired when the page is displayed. onLoad() doesnt work.. Anyone have something to help me out in here? Thx in advance, Rodrigo Dellacqua

• Axapta 2009 WCF service

  I am trying to add a service reference to axapta 2009. All is working well, its a simple web method(external webservice) that gets executed on the server tier(necessary, otherwise clr interop error) But I've ran into the following problems : is it possible to close the proxy one way or another? Because this option is not available in the generated service object in AX (only the webmethods and a tostring). at a certain moment, i ran into a service with faulted state. Normally, you create the service object again, but this didnt solve anything, until i restarted the AOS. Is this normal behaviour? Is the service object cached or something like that on server side? Thx in advance.

  Hi, I have a problem configuring apache tomcat ProxyPass directive for two applications that have two different Contaxt Pathes in tomcat. The tomcat is running behind an apache and I use the apache to proxy path the requests to tomcat. In apache I want to access both application via a hostname instead of a context path. Scenario: tomcat https://domain:8443/app1 https://domain:8443/app2 in tomcat the applications have the context path app1 and app2 in apache I want to enable both application as follow: https://app1.host/ https://app2.host/ In apache I have created a configuration for each domain: ProxyPass / https://localhost:8443/app1 ProxyPassReverse / https://localhost:/8443/app1 The strange thing is app1 is only available through apache using the context path: https://app1.host/app1 Is it possible to realize such a setup with apache ProxyPass module? • What's viewport mean to the jQuery guys?

  I came here intent on asking a 'how do i' type question focused on a particular UI problem i have to solve and i started using the term 'viewport'. Seems there's lots of contexts that tag evokes. Before i outline mine i should ask - is there a generally recognized consensus as to what a 'viewport' is? Any gallery or object browser that focuses on a UI principle where multiple frames/panes show feeds of different graphs where each feed might be a complex grid/graph? I'm imagining something where my page may open with a half dozen different grids (tabular data) stay updated via ajax interactions with various servers. UI elements provide control scale up or down a given grid with a quasi accordion slide kinda thingie. For example, one click on a scale up-or-down control would rescale the other viewports in the opposite direction. More clicks - more pronounced effect. So my 'how do i' question morphs into a 'how have others...' thx

• how does vim's autoread work

  Hi, i'm not sure how vim's set autoread works. The help says "When a file has been detected to have been changed outside of Vim and it has not been changed inside of Vim, automatically read it again." So after :set autoread I open a file with vim, I switch to an other editor, change the file, and wait to see the changes in vim as well, nothing happens, I have to say :e to reload the file with the new content. what did i miss? • PostSharp , PDB Debugging and Referenced Assemblies ...

  When using PostSharp with a Referenced Assembly with proper PDB info( checked with chkmatch), it seems strange that the debug info gets lost by VStudio build and post compile process and I get the following error by using chkmatch to compare the assembly after the vstudio build. Error: Debug information not found in the executable. So it doesn't step into for debugging into this assembly. Does Post Sharp properly writes back the Assemblies without destroying the PDB location offset info as I saw no valid offset info in the written back into DLL by PostSharp using Hex Editor and What's the workaround for this ?   Wondering if its possible to create a short simple and sweet cross-browser jQuery (1.6) function that would split #textarea1 content into two by preserving the characters that amount to less than its var maxlength limit and transfering the remaining characters that exceed its maxlength limit in #textarea2. #textarea1 can push excedant in #textarea2, but if #textarea1 contains less than the maxlength limit, by default it wont get filled up with #textarea2 content, but you would have the option programatically to override this. I am just beginning to scratch the surface of jQuery but I noticed that this simple javascript can nearly do the trick, minus the free-flowing character movement. Scratching my head on this one.   i have this page displaying statement every 2 second (using javascript), at the end of it there is a link which the user can click. with IE it will click the link before javascript generated statement is completed. when i use Link.Click() (with Firefox it will throw exception, which is fine with me) is there a way to wait for javascript execution to complete before link gets clicked (IE)? • insert an image in a tablelayout without streching it android

  Hi, I'm having some trouble getting pictures inside a tablelayout...actually, each I have 2 columns and when i put a picture in a cell of the table, it's completely streched and disproportionnated...I can't find how to make it stay it's original inside the cell and let the rest of the space filled by white background for instance.... • OpenGL es 2.0 Read depth buffer

  Hi! As far as i know, we can't read the Z(depth) value in OpenGL ES 2.0. So I am wondering how we can get the 3D world coordinates from a point on the 2D screen? Actually I have some random thoughts might work. Since we can read the RGBA value by using glReadPixels, how about we duplicate the depth buffer and store it in a color buffer(say ColorforDepth). Of course there need to be some nice convention so that we don't lose any information of the depth buffer. And then when we need a point's world coordinates , we attach this ColorforDepth color buffer to the framebuffer and then render it. So when we use glReadPixels to read the depth information at this frame. However, this will lead to 1 frame flash since the colorbuffer is a weird buffer translated from the depth buffer. I am still wondering if there is some standard way to get the depth in OpenGL es 2.0? Thx in advance!:)

  hi, I have a simple UserControl containing a ComboBox which is empty at first. The setter for that CB adds items to it and the getter returns the selected item. When adding this UC to a Form, the designer automatically calls the getter for the CB which is empty. The method to fill up the CB with items is called later. I can think of one or two ways to bypass this problem by "messing around" in the code. But before I start that I'd like to ask you if there is a way to stop the designer from calling the getter method. Maybe with a attribute similar to Browsable or Bindable? thx

• spring.net application scope repository object on loadbalanced application

  Hi, We have an application running on a loadbalanced environment, let say webserver A and B. The loadbalancing is on the HTTP level, so the loadbalancer directs each user request to one of both webservers. The scope of the repositories in the application is managed by the spring.net container, and the application relies on data that can be cached by the repository (performance reasons). In this case we can never be sure that the cached data in the repositories on both webservers is the same. Is there mechanism in spring.net that can manage this kind problem? Or is there another common approach for this kind of thing? Any ideas? Thx, Bert

  I am trying to run any of the services from gate web service, in neon 2.3. Even Annie that runs so well in gate doesn't run, or better, it stay for indefinite time processing, a thing that should take no more than a couple of seconds. I run wizard, set input directory, leave file pattern as default and set a folder and name for the output ontology, shouldn't it be enough? Shouldn't i get something, even an error?
