• jquery Cycle plugin conflicing with custom script

  I have a site in development here: http://bit.ly/diWSgT Scenario: My custom script looks at the viewport size and if the menu and logo are not in view, animates them up into view (just re-size your browser window to test if you like). That works fine. I also have the every wonderful jQuery cycle plugin in use via WP-Cycle for Wordpress. The problem: As you can see by checking out the site, using my slide up/down button buggers with the cycle function, particularly when you click the button while on the second image. Any thoughts as to why this is happening would be great. Thanks.

• How to get the page in a variable which is going to be displayed in Wordpress ?

  I want to get the content which are displayed by a particular page in WordPress back-end. Say, for [ROOT]/wp-admin/profile.php I want to remove the First Name and Last Name fields from this page. So, I can run a str_replace() to remove the lines. In this case, I have $search and $replace ... but I need $subject [Ref - http://php.net/manual/en/function.str-replace.php] How to get the $subject ? OR, anybody know any other way to do this?

• Wordpress FORCE UPDATE of permalink settings

  I've been having issues on creating new wordpress blogs where I'm setting permalinks via script on theme activation. However, even though they appear to be correct when I check the permalink settings in WP, my new pages are throwing 404 errors. The only fix I've found is that I have to go back to permalink options and click "Save Changes", even though, according to the display, I've made no changes to need to save... I'm setting permalinks to /%postname%/ Here's how I'm doing it. if(get_option('permalink_structure')==""){update_option('permalink_structure', '/%postname%/');} That script gets run when my theme is activated. Any ideas why it only partially does the job?

• Wordpress custom pages CMS

  Hi guys, I'm considering Wordpress as my CMS platform for a client site I'm doing at the moment. However, I need to create a couple of custom 'modules'. One of these modules is a form that people will be able to complete and have a quote, and once submitted, in a special place in the Wordpress panel (like a menu or something), there will be a listing of all the submitted quotes (just fetching it from a table in my database). Another one is to manage a cafeteria menu, so the client can add a different meal to each day of the week. I know perfectly how to do this kind of things using some kind of MVC framework and doing it 'by-hand', but I'm just wondering if this would be possible to do with WP and if yes, what kind of tools I'll have to use. • Lego-Style Cocoa Workflow Application

  Hi, I currently have to develop a system very similar to MIT's Scratch's UI. In case you don't know it, here a screenshot: http://kidconfidence.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/scratch1.png Basically you have bricks in the library on the left you can drop into the window on the right side. The problem I have is that I'm new to Cocoa and not sure what would be the best way to accomplish that. Because you can nest these bricks sometimes and other times stick them together I wonder if there is something that would help implementing that. I recognize this is not a very common interface that there are probably no implementations of that around, but maybe there are helpers for parts of this. Regards, Armin

  Hi, I would like to know how to setup XAMPP Server with multiple PHP versions (eg PHP 5.3, 5.2, 5, and 4), I know WAMP can easily do this, But I have problem with a WP Plugin using WAMP. Now if XAMPP can support PHP version, It would make my life easy and organize; Compare to installing both WAMP and XAMPP (that I did last time, before I formated my workstation. Now I wont do that again if I have options). note: I'm using Windows 7 and installed XAMPP 1.7.3. Thanks!

• Problem with a SQL statement

  I'm trying to enter values into a database table using a form and a PHP function. The PHP seems to be fine as the SQL statement it creates looks okay, but the database always throws up an error. This is the SQL statement that my code has generated (with arbitrary values): INSERT INTO Iteminfo ('itemName', 'itemSeller', 'itemCategory', 'itemDescription', 'itemPrice', 'itemPostage', 'itemBegin', 'itemEnd', 'buynow', 'itemPicture') values ('gorillaz album', 'ben', 'music', 'new one ', '5.00', '1.00', '2010-03-15 14:59:51', '2010-03-16 14:59:51', '0', 'http://www.thefader.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/gorillaz-plastic-beach.jpg') This throws up an error both when I use the PHP function to evaluate the query and also when I use phpMyAdmin to enter the query manually. However, I can't see anything wrong with it. Can anyone shed some light on this? All of the fields are VARCHAR values, except for itemPrice and itemPostage (which are stored as DECIMAL(4,2)) and the itemBegin and itemEnd, which are stored as DATETIMEs.

• How to change onmouseover event to onclick instead in javascript?

  I am using this plugin in wordpress http://www.iwebix.de/front-slider-wordpress-plugin-demo/ As you can see in the demo above, the left and right arrow buttons are the controls for scrolling the thumbnails and the event is onmouseover and onmouseout. I don't know how to change this to onclick instead so that the thumbnails will scroll left and right only when the buttons are clicked. Any help or ideas on how to do this? Thanks! • Incorporate Wordpress into Kohana 3

  I now need to make a Kohana 3 site have a Wordpress blog. I've seen Kerkness' Kohana For Wordpress, but it seems to be the opposite of what I want. Here are the options I have thought of Style a template to look exactly like the Kohana site (time consuming, non DRY and may not work) Include the blog within an iframe (ugly as all hell) cURL the Wordpress pages in. This of course means I will need to create layers between comment posting, etc, which sounds like too much work. Is there any way I can include a Wordpress blog within an existing Kohana application? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks Update Forgot to mention I have already programmed a model in Kohana to open pages based on their slug. Now I want to put blog content in there, and have the comments and other bits work. I also have installed WP e-Commerce and am wondering if there is any chance I can get that to work.

• How Do I Programmatically Check if a WordPress Plugin Is Already Activated?

  I know I can use activate_plugin() from inside a given, active plugin in WordPress, to activate another plugin. But what I want to know is how do I programmatically check if that plugin is already active? For instance, this snippet of code can be temporarily added to an existing plugin's initial file to activate a partner plugin: add_action('wp','activatePlugins'); function activatePlugins() { if( is_single() || is_page() || is_home() || is_archive() || is_category() || is_tag()) { @ activate_plugin('../mypartnerplugin/thepluginsmainfile.php'); } } Then, use a Linux command line tool to spider all your sites that have this code, and it will force a page view. That page view will cause the above code to fire and activate that other plugin. That's how to programmatically activate another plugin from a given plugin as far as I can tell. But the problem is that it gets activated over and over and over again. What would be great is if I had an if/then condition and some function I could call in WordPress to see if that plugin is already activated, and only activate it once if not active.

• Wordpress Trackbacks Not Being Applied

  I am using Wordpress 2.9.1. I recently noticed the trackbacks are not being sent - internal or external. I see two issues I would like to solve. 1) My site has a default, global ping hub which it should notify. This value is not being set into the 'to_ping' value in the *_post table. 2) When I manually enter a trackback in the post, I notice the 'to_ping' value is properly set. It never sends the ping though. The 'pinged' value is always empty. With older versions of WP, this seemed to work automatically.

  Hi, I'm sure this is a simple question. But how do I get Wordpress at startup to ignore trying to load a Page or Post and instead load my custom page? When in the Wordpress bootstrap process is it decided which php-page is going to load? I will have the following url: bt.local/wp/ads/1 And would like a php-page called ads.php to be loaded and load the ad with adid = 1. What's the best way to solve this? (there's no Post called ads and there's no Page called Ads). Thank you! KR Josef

• WordPress: don't show 404 when no posts exist

  Currently there is a bug in WordPress if you have a Posts Page set under: Settings-Reading-A Static Page-Posts Page If there are posts, than the page (e.g. with a slug called news) displays the post, and uses index.php from the theme. But, with this configuration, if there are no posts, then it calls the theme's 404 page. This is definitely a bug, and has been submitted (Ticket #10822). It should be letting index.php show whatever it wants upon !have_posts(), but right now the page doesn't seem to be called at all. My question is: is there a workaround for this bug without modifying core wp files? I'd be open to a plugin, theme changes, a custom page template, htaccess changes, etc.

• Page content bleeding past footer, dynamic resize?

  Hey all im learning as i go with editing CSS and PHP and ive manage to put together a layout, looks fine on the main page, but I noticed the content is not stretching properly height wise when i goto click on the 3D gallery. Here is the a link to the page that has the issue: http://www.idreamfx.com/wp/?page_id=36&album=1&gallery=2 as you can see its bleeding past the footer, and the content section is not resizing properly. What steps do i take to allow it to be dynamically resized with the content in it? • jQuery jPicker path issues when used in WordPress Theme Options

  Anyone with experience using jPicker colorpicker in a WordPress Custom Theme options panel. I believe that the default path for the jPicker resources is /jPicker/ relative to the location the js file appears, however, I'm not seeing the picker.gif icon, so I tried changing the path in the js file like so... images:{clientPath:"../wp-content/themes/myTheme/images/" Everything else appears to be working at first load. My bound input field's background color is the same as the currently selected color. However, the picker.gif icon is missing. Where it should appear, I've just got a 2px wide by 20px tall color element (looks like a div perhaps).

• Adding a new view to a Window-based app (re: MapKit tutorial)

  I'm trying add a new view in a window-based application but not really getting anywhere. I've been going through a great MapKit tutorial lately, http://mithin.in/2009/06/22/using-iphone-sdk-mapkit-framework-a-tutorial/ and have successfully set it up and added some further buttons and customizations. However I've gotten stuck at what I assume ought to be a brain-dead simple step. I have added a toolbar to the bottom of the app, and a 'settings' style button. Following this I created a SettingsViewController complete with it's own view. Now I'd like to connect them but I've had absolutely no luck trying to figure out how to do this. • Relative links in CSS, after moving Wordpress

  I created a blog with Wordpress on a temporary test domain. I put it in the main directory, not a folder. Now I want to move it to the correct website, in a folder. I can update all of the MySQL values for the site URL, and the relative path links work just fine. The problem is that I can't seem to make my CSS path links work. I realize that my problem is that they are relative to the CSS file, in the WordPress theme, and not the page. But how can I fix this? Here is an example: #topNav {background:#3a93c3 url(wp-content/uploads/2011/07/blueNav.jpg) repeat-x;} I have tried adding './', '../', and '../../' to the beginning, but it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?
