  Consider the following project facts/requirements: Desktop app with try icon and notification system Forms over data Quick response needed Internal app in big corporation planned to be hosted on Windows Vista, later maybe Windows 8.x Operating system slowed down by many group policies (frequently changing GPO) No special graphic requirements So, would you go by WPF or WinForms? Edit: Please bear in mind the facts/requirements I mentioned above. The application will run on corporate machines which are very slow and without really good graphical acceleration. The crucial is to have really quick response and start time.

• WPF listbox : problem with selection

  Hello. In my XAML file, I have a ListBox declared like this : <ListBox x:Name="lstDeck" Height="280" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Deck}" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ListBoxItem Content="{Binding}" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> In my view model, Deck is an ObservableCollection, so that binding directly displays the content of my collection. But when I have several value that hold the same value (for example "10" six times), the selection in the ListBox has a weird behaviour : it select 2-3 elements instead of the only the one on which I clicked. Moreover, when I click to another listBoxItem, it doesn't unfocus the previous selected one. Then it is impossible to see which item is actually selected, and impossible to get the SelectedIndex value. Has someone an idea?

• WPF - Virtualizing an ItemsControl?

  I have an ItemsControl containing a list of data that I would like to virtualize, however VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" does not seem to work with an ItemsControl. Is this really the case or is there another way of doing this that I am not aware of? To test I have been using the following block of code: <ItemsControl VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=AccountViews.Tables[0]}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Initialized="TextBlock_Initialized" Margin="5,50,5,50" Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> If I change the ItemsControl to a ListBox, I can see that the Initialized function only runs a handful of times (the huge margins are just so I only have to go through a few records), however as an ItemsControl every item gets initialized. I have tried setting the ItemsControlPanelTemplate to a VirtualizingStackPanel but that doesn't seem to help.

  Im adding items to TreeView control via ItemsSource property and ItemTemplate property to set the template for TreeViewItem. How can i add an event handler to handle selection change event on TreeViewItems? • Capturing WPF Listbox checkbox selection

  Been trying to figure out, how do I capture the events from a listbox. In the template, I've added the parameter IsChecked="" which starts my method. However, the problem is trying to capture what has been checked in the method. • In WPF, should I base my converters on types or use-cases?

  I'm looking for some advice on how to write my WPF value converters. The way I'm currently writing them, they are very specific, like (bool?,bool) = Brush, i.e. I'm writing each converter for a specific use case, in this case, the Brush is bound to an indicator showing equality information between the bool? and the bool. This obviously makes re-use very hard and I end up with a quite large list of converters. Should I strive to write my converters in a more general way? Can I?

• WPF Binding XAML vs C#

  Hello, I've got a strange problem - binding created through XAML (both ways by markup extension or normal) isn't working(BindingOperations.IsDataBound returns false and in fact there is no Binding object created). When I do literally the same from code everything is working perfectly. One more thing is that the Binding in XAML is created in a DataTemplate - what's funny about that when I use the DataTemplate for the first time it fails, then I fix it from code (add binding to specific objects) and while adding more objects to the collection the binding set in XAML just works. If I try to remove all the objects from the collection and then add a new one the binding fails once again. In reality this is a shortened version of another of my questions. • WPF, Setting property with single value on multiple subcontrols

  I have a parent contentcontrol which displays data via a datatemplate. The datatemplate contains a stackpanel with several usercontols of the same type. I like to set the property only once on the parent control, it must set the value of the property on all the subcontrols. But if there is a way to do it on the stackpanel it's also OK. The template can be changed at runtime and the values need also to be propagated to the new template. My current solution is to implement the property on both parent and subcontrol and use code to propagate the value from the parent to all the subcontrols. My question is: is there a better or other ways of doing this?

• WPF - Listbox bound to collection acts as one item

  Hi, I have a listbox with the ItemsControl binding the ItemsSource to a readonly collection of strings. The ItemTemplate then declares the DataTemplate as a checkbox where its content is that of the name of the particular item in the collection and IsChecked bound to a property to determine whether or not the item is selected (it's just a listbox of checkboxes) This works fine with one exception - MouseOver the ListBox and it acts as if the collection of Strings is a single item; the whole box acts as if selected. This wouldn't be as much of a problem were it not for this also affecting the scrollbars where they won't get enabled - presumably because it considers the one item as being visible on the screen even though it in actual facts is x+ with only x-y showing on the screen. How do I get the listbox to act as if each individual string is its own item. I assume it acts this way because I declared a datatemplate in order to get a listbox of checkboxes?? Any help would be much appreciated!

• Automatically number items in a wpf listbox

  I have a person class with two properties, Name an Age. I know how to use databinding to display a collection of person in a wpf list box and how to modify the listitemtemplate to customize how each person is displayed. Now I'd like to number each person on the list according to the order they appear on the list (which could change as the the items were sorted via name or age in the display).   using it on 3 different machines, and only my work machine experiences these crashes.. it is running: win 7 Enterprise xeon X5355 2.66Ghz, 2660 Mhz, 4Core, 4Logical 8 gig ram (available phys memory: 3.52 gb) nvidia quardo nvs 285, nvdidia quadro nvs 290 4 monitors visual studio 2010 premium 4.0.30319 RTMRel the crashes usually just make me restart vs, however, on some occasions they freeze the machine completely and require hard boot. not seeing much in event viewer looking for some troubleshooting ideas to narrow this down..
