• How to create skype like message window?

  Hi all, I am just trying to design skype like message window , for this I have taken the NSDrawer element. It contains : a table view on left, menu items on top, text field on right bottom and text view at central portion on right side. Using text view I can play with string being displayed but I cannot draw the line between messages or round rectangle surrounding user name and time stamp. Can anyone suggest me how can I achieve same look and feel for central message view as in skype?? or is there any better control then NSTextView to be used for it?? Thanks, for any suggestion... • What is the JavaScript variable scope in a switch / case statment?

  While creating JavaScript with ASP.NET MVC I noticed several scope warnings and realized that I am missing something with understanding the variable scope inside the switch / case statement. Warning: 'i' is already defined referring to case b and case c My code looks similar to this: switch(element) { case 'a': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'b': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'c': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; } I thought scope ended with each break statement but it seems that scope does not end until the end of the switch/case. Is scope for the entire switch/case?

• crazy things with PHP array...

  Hi, A very strange thing, I have an array where element 7 is '[1000137d]', but when I try to compare it by using if ( $array[7] == '[1000137d]' ) it will return a negative. echo $array[7]; echo '<br>'; echo '[1000137d]'; echo '<br>'; echo md5($array[7]); echo '<br>'; echo md5('[1000137d]'); this code would echo out: [1000137d] [1000137d] ca9983334e720042e3a6cbb1dd6b7fd2 3b1c21e661bd7d38deda1f4a45eaa23b as you can see $array[7] is identical to [1000137d], yet their md5's differ. what do you think might be the problem?   Hello normal validation is always related to some control, but in my case there is no control to fire validation when its content changes and to show errortemplate to the user. because the data to be validated is in the cipboard. when the user presses "PASTE" button viewmodel processes the data and finds it to be invalid. but what is the best way to invoke WPF validation in this case? as far as i understand using IDataErrorInfo is the way to go, but what is the best way to start validation. and whst is the best way of displaying the error? errortemplate of the button element? • What is a read only collection in C#?

  I ran a security code analyst i found myself having a CA2105 warning. I looked at the grade tampering example. I didnt realize you can assign int[] to a readonly int. I thought readonly was like the C++ const and makes it illegal. The How to Fix Violations suggest i clone the object (which i dont want to do) or 'Replace the array with a strongly typed collection that cannot be changed'. I clicked the link and see 'ArrayList' and adding each element one by one and it doesnt look like you can prevent something adding more. I'm currently using XPath and Hamcrest (Java) to verify that the documents are constructed correctly. However, I also need to verify that the correct CSS properties are matched. • restful way for deleting a bunch of items

  In wiki article for REST it is indicated that if you use http://example.com/resources DELETE, that means you are deleting the entire collection. If you use http://example.com/resources/7HOU57Y DELETE, that means you are deleting that element. I am doing a WEBSITE, note NOT WEB SERVICE. I have a list that has 1 checkbox for each item on the list. Once i select multiple items for deletion, i will allow users to press a button called DELETE SELECTION. If user presses the button, a js dialog box will popup asking user to confirm the deletion. if user confirms, all the items are deleted. So how should i cater for deleting multiple items in a RESTFUL way? NOTE, currently for DELETE in a webpage, what i do is i use FORM tag with POST as action but include a _method with the value DELETE since this is what was indicated by others in SO on how to do RESTful delete for webpage.

• Python: Trying to get index of an intersection

  I have the following line of code: for i in [i for i,x in enumerate(catdate) if x == set(NNSRCfile['datetimenew']).intersection(catdate)]: print i I am trying to find the index of the intersection for the two components above. Both are lengthy lists that have several commonalities. The intersection part works perfectly; however, the for loop seems to output nothing. (ie: there is nothing that is printed). Python outputs no error, and when I run the code in IPython, I notice that i is equivalent to to the very last element in the list "catdate", instead of listing the indices of "catdate" that are equivalent to the intersection values. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, in its current form, this code is either copying nothing to the array or only copying the last element.

However, I keep getting the value as 'undefined', in spite of entering text into the newly added text box. This does not happen if the form already has a text box to begin with - i.e., if a text box is not being added via a js function. Anything missing / look wrong here? Thanks!

  Hello everyone, I have an html table, and one column (<td>) has long text, so I want to set the max-width of the column -- so that if text is longer than the max-width, the text could auto-wrap to next line. I have tried to use css max-width style on related TD element of the column, something like "max-width:100px", but it does not work (text still very long and not auto-wrap to next line if it is very long). Any ideas what is wrong or any solution reference code? I am using IE 8 on Windows 7. thanks in advance, George

• jQuery Selectors: how to access an a tag, whose span has a specific class?

  I'm messing around with FullCalendar jQuery calendar, and qTips, so that I can display more information about the event upon mouseover. I've added a summary element to the FullCalendar js, and also my server code. I then added a new qTip in the eventMouseover method, based on the span class, which works prefectly. However, if the event stretches over a couple of days, the qTip only works (because it is a span tag), on the text itself, not the entire blue strip. What I want to do is to assign the qTip to the a tag, and make the a tags display block. This works currently: eventMouseover: function(event){ $('span[class=fc-event-title]').each(function() { if( $(this).text() == event.title ) { $(this).qtip({ content: event.summary, style: { border: { width: 1, radius: 5, color: '#6699CC' }, width: 200 } }); } }); but I can't figure out how to select the a tag where it contains a span with class of fc-event-title. The problem is, how does the data get delivered to the instance of DataRetriever that requested it? I'm really stuck here.

• Chrome Extension contenteditable get and set caret position

  I am creating an extension where I need to insert a link into the gmail window. I am able to create a simple extension button in the top of the window and execute code that does replaces all the links. Now, I want to do add links in the contenteditable section as I type. It seems like there should be a simple way to replace text with a link in the document object model. If this is not true I need to do three things. Insert text from the current caret position Capture the caret position. Set the caret position by its offset. I have tried using window.getSelection within the gmail context(that is a body element that is set to contenteditable and embedded inside an iframe in the gmail tab) to get the current range and position. The selection is always empty and contains no ranges regardless of whether text is selected or not.

• Add a Carriage Return to the Output of an XSL Transformation

  I am trying to use XSLT to convert an XML document to a text file and the text of the document looks fine. However, I need to add a carriage return after the end of each line (NOT A CRLF) and I seem to be failing in every attempt. I have tried adding just a CR at the end of the line like this: <xsl:text>&#xD;</xsl:text> I have tried changing my media-type to string, I have tried to add the disable-output-escaping attribute to the text element, but it always adds a CRLF. This is on a Windows OS and I know that Windows uses CRLF for a new line, but I would have thought you could override that if you said to specifically use only the CR or the LF (e.g. VB.net's VBCR or VBLF). Does anyone know if it is possible to only output a CR with XSLT? Thanks in advance.
