  • iPhone: Same Rows Repeated in Each Section of Grouped UITableview

    - by Rank Beginner
    I have an app that is a list of tasks, like a to do list. The user configures the tasks and that goes to the SQLite db. The list is displayed in a tableview. The SQL table in question consists of a taskid int, groupname varchar, taskname varchar, lastcompleted datetime, nextdue datetime, weighting integer. I currently have it working by creating an array from each column in the SQL table. In the tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: method, I create the controls for each task by binding their values to the array for each column. I want to add configurable task groups that should display as the section titles. I got the task groups to display as the section headers. My problem is that all the task rows are repeated in each group under each header. How do I get the correct rows to show up only under the correct section? I'm really new to development period and took on a hobby of trying to teach myself how to develop iphone apps. So, pretty please, be a little more detailed than you normally would with a professional developer. :)

  • How to use SQLiteOpenHelper without or less restrictive use of Context?

    - by Pentium10
    If you extend SQLiteOpenHelper, for the Constructor you have to use a Context. I am wondering if there is a way to leave this out, and be able to work with database tables without a Context. Or at least be least restrictive, I mean a way of project/class structure that will make history the several context passings I have to do now. As it is my application has several level of classes, chained in each other, and there are a few that connects to the database, but have no whatsoever influence on the interface, so they don't actually need the Context. Are you creating your classes in the way that you pass each time a Context to them? If not, how you do, how you reuse a Context in a short class?

  • Detect if NSString contains a URL and generate a "link" to open inside the app a Safari View

    - by Cy
    I have am reading a twitter feed in my iPhone application and can do it correctly, but I'd like to evolve it in a way to detect if the whole NSString contains any URL or URLs and create a "link" that will open a UIWebView within the same application. Can you guide me on how to perform this task? -(void) setTextTwitter:(NSString *)text WithDate:(NSString*)date { [text retain]; [textTwitter release], textTwitter = nil; textTwitter = text; [date retain]; [dateTwitter release], dateTwitter = nil; dateTwitter = date; [self setNeedsDisplay]; }

  • Draggable cards (touch enumeration) issue

    - by glitch
    I'm trying to let a player tap, drag and release a card from a fanned stack on the screen to a 4x4 field on the board. My cards are instantiated from a custom class that inherits from the UIImageView class. I started with the Touches sample app, and I modified the event handlers for touches to iterate over my player's card hand instead of the 3 squares the sample app allows you to move on screen. Everything works, until that is, I move the card I'm dragging near another card. I'm really drawing a blank here for the logic to get the cards to behave properly. Here's my code: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSUInteger numTaps = [[touches anyObject] tapCount]; if(numTaps = 1) { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { [self dispatchFirstTouchAtPoint:[touch locationInView: self.boardCardView] forEvent:nil]; } } } -(void) dispatchFirstTouchAtPoint:(CGPoint)touchPoint forEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (int i = 0; i<5; i++) { UIImageView *touchedCard = boardBuffer[i]; if (CGRectContainsPoint([touchedCard frame], touchPoint)) { [self animateFirstTouchAtPoint:touchPoint forView:touchedCard]; } } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSUInteger touchCount = 0; for (UITouch *touch in touches){ [self dispatchTouchEvent:[touch view] toPosition:[touch locationInView:self.boardCardView]]; touchCount++; } } My questions are: How do I get the touch logic to disallow other cards from being picked up by a dragging finger? Is there anyway I can only enumerate the objects that are directly below a player's finger and explicitly disable other objects from responding? Thanks!

  • malloc:mmap(size=XX) failed (error code=12)

    - by Michel
    I have a memory problem in an iPhone app, giving me a hard time. Here is the error message I get: malloc: * mmap(size=9281536) failed (error code=12) * error: can't allocate region I am using ARC for this app, in case that might be useful information. The code (below) is just using a file in the Bundle in order to load a core data entity. The strange thing is the crash happens only after more than 90 loops; while it seems to mee that since the size of the "contents" in getting smaller and smaller, the memory request should also get smaller and smaller. Here is the code, if any one can see a flaw please let me know. NSString *path,*contents,*lineBuffer; path=[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"myFileName" ofType:@"txt"]; contents=[NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:path encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:nil]; int counter=0; while (counter<10000) { lineBuffer=[contents substringToIndex:[contents rangeOfCharacterFromSet:[NSCharacterSet newlineCharacterSet]].location]; contents=[contents substringFromIndex:[lineBuffer length]+1]; newItem=[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"myEntityName" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [newItem setValue:lineBuffer forKey:@"name"]; request=[[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; [request setEntity: [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"myEntityName" inManagedObjectContext:context]]; error=nil; [context save:&error]; counter++; }

  • inputAccessoryView not hide the view when -resignFirstResponder?

    - by Sam Jarman
    I have attached a toolbar with a UITextField and UIButton to the keyboard when it becomes the first responder via the user taping inside the textfield textField.inputAccessoryView = theToolbar; Problem is, the toolbar disappears when the keyboard is dismissed, thus preventing any further input. Any ideas on how to make the toolbar go back to the bottom of the screen rather than off it completely? I'm thinking a delegate method might help but Im really not too sure. It seems once the inputAccessoryView always the inputAccessoryView :( Cheers

  • Pushing UIViewController onto a UINavigationController

    - by Gregg
    The other day I asked about using a UINavigationController as a child of a UIViewController. I got that working via the answer. Now what I'm trying to do is push a controller onto the nav stack. When a table cell is touched, I do the following: - (void) showSetup { NSLog(@"Showing Setup"); SetupViewController *controller = [[SetupViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"SetupViewController" bundle:nil]; self.setupViewController = controller; self.setupViewController.title = @"Setup"; [self.navigationController pushViewController:self.setupViewController animated:YES]; [controller release]; } I can see the log statement in my console, but the view never changes. Am I missing something?

  • WebView not responding when called from a method

    - by AragornSG
    I have an app with tabbar and webview. I'm trying to make the app come back to default url each time user taps the bar. Right now I'm intercepting taps and launching a method, however it's not affecting my webview. The same syntax for calling webview from awakeFromNib works, so I don't have a clue what's up. I suspect it's something to do with how I call the method, but I don't know what. Here is the code: #import "SecondViewController.h" @implementation SecondViewController - (void)awakeFromNib { NSString *loadURL = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://pageurl"]; // [secondView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:loadURL]]]; SecondViewController *ptr = [[SecondViewController alloc] init]; [ptr goToPage]; } - (void) goToPage { NSLog(@"go to page"); NSString *newURL = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://pageurl"]; [secondView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:newURL]]]; } Thanks fot your help!

  • issue with tab bar view displaying a compound view

    - by ambertch
    I created a tab bar application, and I make the first tab a table. So I create a tableView controller, and go about setting the class identity of the view controller for the first tab to my tableView controller. This works fine, and I see the contents of the table filling up the whole screen. However, this is not what I actually want in the end goal - I would like a compound window having multiple views: - the aforementioned table - a custom view with data in it So what I do is create a nib for this content (call it contentNib), change the tab's class from the tableView controller to a generic UIViewController, and set the nib of that tab to this new contentNib. In this new contentNib I drag on a tableView and set File's Owner to the TableViewController. I then link the dataSource and delegate to file's owner (which is TableViewController). Surprisingly this does not work and I receive the error: **Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIViewController tableView:numberOfRowsInSection:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b0f910'** This is bewildering to me since the file's owner is the TableViewController, which has been assigned to be both the dataSource and delegate. Does someone have either insight into my confusions, or a link to an example of how to have a compound view include a tableView? *update* I see this in the Apple TableView programming guide: "Note: You should use a UIViewController subclass rather than a subclass of UITableViewController to manage a table view if the view to be managed is composed of multiple subviews, one of which is a table view. The default behavior of the UITableViewController class is to make the table view fill the screen between the navigation bar and the tab bar (if either are present)." <----- I don't really get what this is telling me to do though... if someone can explain or point me to an example I'd be much appreciated!

  • Why is my view controllers view not quadratic?

    - by mystify
    I created an UIViewController subclass, and figured out that the default implementation of -loadView in UIViewController will ignore my frame size settings in a strange way. To simplify it and to make sure it's really not the fault of my code, I did a clean test with a plain instance of UIViewController directly, rather than making a subclass. The result is the same. I try to make an exactly quadratic view of 320 x 320, but the view appears like 320 x 200. iPhone OS 3.0, please check this out: UIViewController *ts = [[UIViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; ts.view.frame = CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 320.0f); ts.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor cyanColor]; [self.view addSubview:ts.view]; like you can see, I do this: 1) Create a UIViewController instance 2) Set the frame of the view to a quadratic dimension of 320 x 320 3) Give it a color, so I can see it 4) Added it as a subview. Now the part, that's even more strange: When I make my own implementation of -loadView, i.e. if I put this code in there like this: - (void)loadView { UIView *v = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 320.0f)]; v.backgroundColor = [UIColor cyanColor]; self.view = v; [v release]; } then it looks right. Now lets think about that: In the first example, I do pretty much exactly the same, just that I let UIViewController create the view on it's own, and then take it over in order to change it's frame. Right? So why do I get this strange error? Right now I see no other way of messing around like that to correct this wrong behavior. I did not activate anything like clipsToBounds and there's no other code touching this.

  • How do I add a loading indicator to my page while my iframe loads?

    - by keybored
    I am currently creating a page where upon clicking a link an iframe is inserted into a div and it's contents loaded. I do this using the following jQuery call: $('#mydiv').html('<iframe src="sourcelink.html" frameborder="0" width="760" height="2400" scrolling="no"></iframe>'); Sometimes the source content loads very slowly and, as a result, it looks like nothing is happening. I would like to have a simple loading animation while the content is loading while the iframe's content loads. When the iframe finishes loading it's content should pop in and the loading animation should go away. I've been considering a couple ways I could do this (e.g. having a separate loader div to simply swap the two in and out) but I'm not sure of what the 'best' approach to solving this problem is. Perhaps I shouldn't be using .html()? I'm open to suggestion if there is a more correct solution.
