  • Removing all installed Gems and starting over

    I recently started learning Ruby and Ruby on Rails, and have watched a plethora of getting started materials. I have been finding lately that I keep getting errors where gems won't install or they will be installed but they can't be used for some reason, and I have decided that I want to remove everything down to once again just having Ruby installed and start over with the installation. One training video had me install most of my gems with RVM, so I don't know if that changes anything. So in short my question is "How to I get rid of RVM, Rubygems, and all installed Gems so that I can start over with just Ruby?" Edit: I am on Mac OS 10.6

  • iphone - Can't uninstall app on device

    hey guys, I am testing my app on my jailbreaked iPhone and i noticed something strange. When i want to uninstall it on device i got no cross to delete the app. All the other apps (not mines) have the white circled cross. Whereas on the simulator i am able to delete my app. Is it because i run it on a jailbreak with a codesign workaround? Or maybe i am missing something in the app plist.     Hi. We have a live universal app in the AppStore. Our client changed his mind and doesn't want the app to be universal anymore, he wants it to be iPad only. Since the app was submitted some time ago, there are users who use the iPhone version. What happens if we submit an upgrade that is iPad only? Will the review team reject it? And if it goes live, will the iPhone users receive a notification about the update? If yes in what form? Or will the iPhone users just be unable to reinstall the app? Thank you!

Using App Engine for Java To set up the server using a standard App Engine for Java: Get the files from the open source site, as described above. I entered the link - https://code.google.com/p/gcm/ but there is no download there, and I don't have Git (and I don't know how to use it..).   • Applescript, how to get network address of a file

    We are a network of Mac computers. I would like to send email addresses to colleagues with links to files on network locations. I made the following applescript: tell application "Finder" set uuu to URL of the first item of (get the selection) set the clipboard to uuu end tell which puts the URL of the currently selected file into the clipboard, which can then be pasted into the message (using the Add Link menu item), providing, for example: file://localhost/Volumes/Commerciale/Clienti/ unfortunately these links do not work. If I select Go To Folder from the menu item, I can get to the folder using an afp:// type url. Is there any way to get this via applescript like I do with url above? Thanks

  • PHP does not store all variables in session

    Dear all I'm assigning session variables by filling the $_SESSION - Array throughout my script.   • How to gather usage statistics for iPhone app?

    I am in the process of releasing my first iPhone app. It's a simple utility, I'd just like to gauge the release process, app lifetime and trends, just so it can help make more realistic choices in future apps. I think it would be nice to have usage statistics in addition to download stats from Apple. For example, how many times is the app opened by each user, what iPhone OS version do they have, etc. I think some of it would simply be to try and connect to a known URL on one of my domains, passing it anonymous information (let's say, connect to http://mydomain.net/stats?app=myApp&version=1.0.0&os=3.1.2&used=18). My questions are: is that forbidden in any way by Apple's rules? (none that I could find, at least) does that seem reasonable to you? are there existing frameworks that would do that simpler/better that writing my own code?

    I'm making a program for my own use. In this program, I need to set up cron job. The cron job should run every minute (24 hr * 60 mins = 1440 times). Thus, I'll need to set up a cron job with a frequency of 1 minute. I think Google App Engine gives free cron job. But I'm very new to it. I downloaded the java SDK and read the document but understood nothing :( So, I can't use Google App Engine. Is here any other free service like Google app engine which but with easier inferface???   • NSColor, 10.6 and Gamma 2.2

    With Snow Leopard the default gamma changed from 1.8 to 2.2. I happen to be working on a few Mac apps that use a very dark custom colour scheme provided by Cocoa. On 10.5 it looks fine but on 10.6 with the new gamma it's much darker and really hard on the eyes. The colour scheme is defined using numerous [NSColor colorWithCalibratedRed:green:blue:alpha:] objects within a theme class. Is there any way to 'convert' an NSColor object so that it displays on 10.6 exactly as it would on 10.5 with the old 1.8 gamma? I know this can be achieved globally from within System Preferences but that's not what I'm after.

  • Spring bean initialization in a web app

    We work with a web application and autowire beans using WebApplicationContextUtils in the init method. Could you clarify some details about bean initialization? The question rises from the static factory method. Suppose there's a bean that is created in a static factory method. As we can see, when the web app is deployed, the ContextLoaderListener initializes all the beans present in Spring xml config file. Now happens such a thing. In the static factory method we run a timer that starts ticking. But in reality we wouldn't want it to start ticking unless the bean is injected into a property of the object ! That is question number one - all the beans are automatically initialized on deploy - correct? And after that when we need an injection, it simply feels the link with the address of the object created during initialization, though OBJECT WAS CREATED ON WEB APP DEPLOY, immediately ! (I assume the default singleton-creation Spring behavior) Second question: are all copies of a web app use the same beans, so all beans are WEB-APP wide, every Spring bean is shared between all the copies of this web app running?

  • Textmate tab and de-tab selected block

    Recently switched to Textmate on Mac for coding. On PC when ever I want to tab in or out a block of code I just highlight and press tab or shift+tab to move it in our out. It's very useful when you are adding an extra loop or conditional statement to a block of code to keep everything tidy and neatly indented. On Textmate however when I try this it just replaces my selected text with a tab. So is there a way to do tab and de-tab lines of code in textmate?

    I want to read a file from Disk in a swift file. It can be a relative or direct path, that doesn't matter. How can I do that? I've been playing with something like this let classesData = NSData .dataWithContentsOfMappedFile("path/to/classes.json"); And it finds the file (i.e. doesn't return nil) but I don't know how to manipulate and convert to JSON, the data returned. It isn't in a string format and String() isn't working on it.

Where's the difference between UInt32 and unsigned int? And I assume that an unsigned long is bigger than an unsigned int?

Is it possible to have sub-second response? edit: more details about the app itself. Amount of data: ~500GB of text data, expect to reach 1TB soon Number of concurrent users using the app: up to 50 The app will be used to present reports about data stored in HBase, like how many times keyword "X" occured in last 24h. For ~80% of requests from that app I will know the exact key, 20% will be scans (I'm looking into HBase schema design related topics to make it run fast)

  • How do you store sets in Cassandra?

    I'd like to convert this JSON to a data model in Cassandra, where each of the arrays is a set with no duplicates: var data = { "data1": { "100": [1, 2, 3], "200": [3, 4] }, "data2": { "k1", [1], "k2", [4, 5] } } I'd like to query like this: data["data1"]["100"] to retrieve the sets. Anyone know how you might model this in Cassandra? (The only thing I came up with was columns whose name was a set value and the value of the column was an empty string, but that felt wrong.) It's not OK to serialize the sets as JSON or some other string, which would make this much easier. Also, I should note that it's OK to split data1 and data2 into separate ColumnFamilies, it's not necessary that they're keys in the same one.

I would like to do this with OpenNetCF or mapidotnet, if possible. But I didn't figure out how to do this with OpenNetCF and mapitdotnet isn't available anymore on the sourceforge site (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mapidotnet/). I only found it on the svn directory, but there are no dlls.
