  Hi, My company have a 40 sites with different domains that some of their articles appears in my main website with reference to their source. Our articles write by high level processionals in the field that they write about - we also pay them high salary. In recent google algorithm change my main site rating down very seriously. What should we do to restore company main site google rating? our solution and ideas that not working well: rel="canonical" to source website (we already have it before google change without results) meta "original-source" but not have rating influence (we already have it before google change without results) Edit:: maybe we should delete rel="canonical" from main website articles that refer to our other small websites (because this articles in main website not indexed in google)?   In my impersonation enabled web site I needed to access files on a network share.  Running locally, everything worked fine. After deploying out to the dev server and hitting the web site from my PC, things fell apart. With impersonation enabled, we can access files on the server itself, but a network share is another story.  Accessing a share on another server, we encounter the infamous "double hop" situation, were the credentials have already been digested on the web server and are not available for the file server. We need to either expose the shared files to the identity IIS is running under, or create a new impersonation context.

  Hello, I currently host 5 websites within a dedicated server I own. I have several questions: Does it matter if I host all my sites on 100.100.100.100 (the server's IP for example) or if I split them into 100.100.100.100, 100.100.100.101 ... 100.100.100.104 (that is, each site on its own IP). Does it matter if I use a C-Class for each website? Do search engines really care if your site has its own c-class? Do search engines penalize a website if it moves its IP? Thanks, Joel

  I am using to study (and at some point of time copy the desired module of) the code from these two sites (Google Code and Github). There is sourceforge too, I have some code, say some library that I want to share with the community, and I am to decide the hosting site. And before I decide I want to have opinions from this community. Which is your favorite Project hosting site or service? And why? There is one point where github can win over google code (may be I am wrong here), Github can let you forge whole project with a zip or tar file, but to do the same in google code we have to upload the zip file explicitly and put it in downloads.... • Login and redirect to user home page [migrated]

  The problem I can't currently solve is when a user logs in. They arrive at the site (index.php) and enter username and password, which gets submitted via a Post form back to index.php - if there are incorrect details then they get an error message. But if successful then I would like them to be taken to their user home page - but I can't do this! I am left presenting them with a link to the home page, which is more than a little clunky. Seems there must be an obviously solution - never seen a site before that didn't redirect! Not sure is the answer is PHp, HTML, or Javascript.

  I have the website http://storkbox.magentodemo.dk . I've been testing crossbrowser on my windows PC, and it looks good in all browsers, but on Mac in Safari it looks like the CSS is not getting interpreted right, or there is a critical javascript error. When I look in the console cross-browser, the error log shows exactly the same. Chrome on mac interprets the site as intended, so why do I have a problem with safari. It is the same across different computers, and iphone safari also shows the site wrong. How is this possible and how do I debug?

• Where does UBB store its settings?

  We're moving a UBB forum from one host to another. (This is temporary; we're going to replace the forum eventually, but moving hosts has a higher priority.) We don't have a lot of experience with UBB, so we're feeling our way along in the dark. We got the UBB code installed on the new host, and we've done a dry-run database export from the original site to the new site. However, almost everything set in UBB's Control Panel section didn't come with the database export. If UBB doesn't store this data in the database, where is it stored? And if it is in the database, why would it not show up in a new forum when the database is imported? Did we somehow miss a table?

  I'm a web developer. When I start designing a site, I use a framework to handle templating for me, even if it's just rack + erubis. What do non-developers do? If you want to implement a site in HTML and CSS without a framework running on a webserver, without frames, and without WYSYWIG tools like Dreamweaver... how do you avoid copy-and-pasting the HTML of your navigation (for example) on every single page you're writing? I feel stupid asking this because it seems like their must be an obvious answer, but for the life of me, I can't think of one right now.

• Strategy for image sizes

  I run a site that has a lot of writers that generate quite a few articles a day. I require them to provide two image sizes (one for the big headline image and one as the thumbnail). I've been wanting to change up the site layout a bit, but I am becoming limited by the image sizes for the posts. I have considered just cropping images, but they still need to look nice, and cropping doesn't always generate what I'd want. I'd prefer to just scale down by percentage (as I do with thumbnails). Should I just make the writers provide more images? How do other sites handle this?

  I'm basically familiar with what I need in order to setup web services to talk with a centralized db, but if I don't have to go through and do all the work, I'd rather not. Is there an open source solution that would allow me to easily integrate web services for data transfer to a central db? I want to make a site that is powered by a db that can also be accessed by other things like mobile apps for example. What are the steps involved in setting up such a site? Any help is appreciated!   I have a site, www.example.com, that displays some secure content from forms.example.com in iframes. To enable cross-frame navigation, pages on both sites use JavaScript to set the document.domain to just "example.com". I am using Google Analytics on www.example.com, but the GA site is not showing any data. It indicates that the tracking code is found (the status icon is a green checkmark), but no data is reported. The GA profile lists the website as "www.example.com". Is this a supported scenario? Is my script interfering with the GA code in some way?

  I'm getting a drive by download issue reported on www.cottonsandwichquiltshop.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=19&sort=2a&filterid=61 reported from safeweb.norton.com when I scan the root url. I have dug through the entire site architecture, and code base and removed a few files that were malicious, i upgraded the site's framework and fixed the security holes (mostly sql injection concerns)..... However this one threat still exists and I can't locate it for the life of me, or find any valid research or information on removing this type of threat at the server level, mostly just a bunch of anti-virus software wanting to sell you on their ability to manage it on the client end. • Is there a well grounded theory on backward and forward compatibility of formats, languages, grammars and vocabularies?

  I have a friend who has the specific problem of building a case against the use of a custom HTML <wrapper> tag in some site's markup. Now, intuitively we can answer that use of such a tag is risky, as future HTML specs may define a wrapper tag with semantics that conflict with its use on the site. We can also appeal to a particular section of the HTML5 spec which also recommends against the use of custom tags for this reason. And while I agree with the conclusion, I find these arguments a little on the weak side, on their own. Is there some well grounded and proven theory in computer science from which we can derive this conclusion? Have programming language theorists created proofs about the properties of vocabulary versioning, or some such thing?

  Possible Duplicate: How should I handle search engines auto-correcting the spelling of a site's name? My domain name is radiuus.com. Since the correct spelling of the word is with one u, when I search for "radiuus" on google it thinks I'm misspelling the word, kindly lets me know, and returns results for "radius".   I have a photo website. 15% of the photos belong to approved registered users. They agree my terms about uploading their images in my web pages. I include a photographer credit on right bottom corner. About identifying the site with google, every page contains a google+ button to MY google+ page it also contains <link href="https://plus.google.com/nnnnnnnnnn/" rel="publisher" /> I need some advice in order to respect google rules about my pages containing other photographers images not to be penalized because of possible duplicated or interpreted as stolen content. My concern is also about adding G+ links (to MY photo page) and Google publisher id would harm my site rank because of pages containing third-party photos.

• What is the standard way of delivering HTML5 games to portals and such?

  Let me explain what I mean by "standard way of delivering"... Think about Flash games sites. Flash games can be delivered as a single file, either hosted by the site, or, I guess, provided by someone else. HTML5 games, on the other hand, don't have something so standard. Usually, they have their own page, and portals just link to that page. I think that it greatly hinders the purpose of that portal, because, well, you want people to stay on your site and look for other games. Now, I think that a some kind of iframe way of delivering games would help solve this problem greatly. I saw some games doing that, and they were often included on tutorial sites to show a live example, which is obviously a great thing. So, is there a standard at all? Any suggestions? Can you create a game that just preloads itself in an iframe (I heard something about a "single document" or something)?
