  • [Android] GPS can't run inside TimerTask

    - by user568553
Hi, I am trying to write an android app that acquires a GPS signal at a fix time interval, for example every 1 minute. Since the requestLocationUpdate function does not exactly implement that, I tried to use task to accomplished it. public class getGPS extends TimerTask{ public void run(){ System.out.println("Running a GPS task"); locHandler = new locationUpdateHandler(); myManager.requestLocationUpdates(provider, 60000, 0, locHandler); } } public void LoadCoords(){ Timer timer = new Timer(); timer.scheduleAtFixedRate(new getGPS(), 0, 60000); } However, from what I've seen, requestLocationUpdates would run fine if I put it inside LoadCoords(), but would not run if I put it inside the TimerTask (ie no green icon on the task bar to show that GPS is looking for a fix). Can anyone please suggest an alternative approach or pseudo-code, or correct my mistake if there is one ? Thank you in advance.

  • interface as a method parameter in Java

    - by PeterYu
Hi all, I had an interview days ago and was thrown a question like this. Q: Reverse a linked list. Following code is given: public class ReverseList { interface NodeList { int getItem(); NodeList nextNode(); } void reverse(NodeList node) { } public static void main(String[] args) { } } I was confused because I did not know an interface object could be used as a method parameter. The interviewer explained a little bit but I am still not sure about this. Could somebody enlighten me?

  • Generate "Finder.h" for a SIMBL plugin

    - by user1204395
I'm trying to create a SIMBL plugin for Finder to add icon overlay over some files. I have this code: @implementation NSObject (FAIconOverlay) - (void)FAIconOverlay_TIconAndTextCell_drawIconWithFrame:(struct CGRect)arg1 { [self FAIconOverlay_TIconAndTextCell_drawIconWithFrame:arg1]; if (![self respondsToSelector:@selector(node)]) { return; } NSLog(@"%@", [[[NSClassFromString(@"FINode") nodeWithFENode:[(TNodeIconAndNameCell *)self node]] fullPath] lastPathComponent]); // Draw the icon overlay } - (void)FAIconOverlay_TDesktopIcon_drawIconInContext:(struct CGContext *)arg1 { [self FAIconOverlay_TDesktopIcon_drawIconInContext:arg1]; } @end I can draw the icon overlay but, when I try to get the path of the file I get a "Use of undeclared identifier TNodeIconAndNameCell". Looking this link < How to Write OS X Finder plugin I see that is neccessary to generate a Finder.h file... My question is: How to generate this file?? I tried running "class-dump -H Finder.app" but I get too more compiling errors Thank you very much!

  • Passing message over network

    - by Sylvestre Equy
Hi, I'm currently trying to develop a message-oriented networking framework and I'm a bit stuck on the internal mechanism. Here are the problematic interfaces : public interface IMessage { } public class Connection { public void Subscribe<TMessage>(Action<TMessage> messageCallback); public void Send<TMessage>(TMessage message); } The Send method does not seem complicated, though the mechanism behind Subscribe seems a bit more painful. Obviously when receiving a message on one end of the connection, I'll have to invoke the appropriate delegate. Do you have any advice on how to read messages and easily detect their types ? By the way, I'd like to avoid to use MSMQ.

  • Copy image to BLOB from client pc aka Java function in Oracle

    - by mumich
Hi guys, I've been stuck with this for past two days. I've go java function stored in Oracle system which is supposed to copy image from local drive do remote database and store it in BLOB - it's called CopyBLOB and looks like this: import java.sql.*; import oracle.sql.*; import java.io.*; public class CopyBLOB { static int id; static String fileName = null; static Connection conn = null; public CopyBLOB(int idz, String f) { id = idz; fileName = f; } public static void copy(int ident, String path) throws SQLException, FileNotFoundException { CopyBLOB cpB = new CopyBLOB(ident, path); cpB.getConnection(); cpB.callUpdate(id, fileName); } public void getConnection() throws SQLException { DriverManager.registerDriver (new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver()); try { conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@oraserv.ms.mff.cuni.cz:1521:db", "xxx", "xxx"); } catch (SQLException sqlex) { System.out.println("SQLException while getting db connection: "+sqlex); if (conn != null) conn.close(); } catch (Exception ex) { System.out.println("Exception while getting db connection: "+ex); if (conn != null) conn.close(); } } public void callUpdate(int id, String file ) throws SQLException, FileNotFoundException { CallableStatement cs = null; try { conn.setAutoCommit(false); File f = new File(file); FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream(f); cs = (CallableStatement) conn.prepareCall( "begin add_image(?,?); end;" ); cs.setInt(1, id ); cs.setBinaryStream(2, fin, (int) f.length()); cs.execute(); conn.setAutoCommit(true); } catch ( SQLException sqlex ) { System.out.println("SQLException in callUpdateUsingStream method of given status : " + sqlex.getMessage() ); } catch ( FileNotFoundException fnex ) { System.out.println("FileNotFoundException in callUpdateUsingStream method of given status : " + fnex.getMessage() ); } finally { try { if (cs != null) cs.close(); if (conn != null) conn.close(); } catch ( Exception ex ) { System.out.println("Some exception in callUpdateUsingStream method of given status : " + ex.getMessage( ) ); } } } } The wrapper function is defined in package "MyPackage" as folows: procedure image_adder( id varchar2, path varchar2 ) AS language java name 'CopyBLOB.copy(java.lang.String, java.lang.String)'; And the inserting function called image_add is as simple as this: procedure add_image( id numeric(10), pic blob) AS BEGIN insert into pictures values (seq_pic.nextval, id, pic); END add_image; Now the problem: When I type call MyPackage.image_adder(1, 'd:\samples\img.jpg'); I get the ORA-29531 Error: No method copy in class CopyBLOB. Can you help me, please?

  • Bad Design? Constructor of composition uses `this`

    - by tanascius
Example: class MyClass { Composition m_Composition; void MyClass() { m_Composition = new Composition( this ); } } I am interested in using depenency-injection here. So I will have to refactor the constructor to something like: void MyClass( Composition composition ) { m_Composition = composition; } However I get a problem now, since the Composition-object relies on the object of type MyClass which is just created. Can a dependency container resolve this? Is it supposed to do so? Or is it just bad design from the beginning on?

  • Simplest LINQ in C# troubleshooting.

    - by Jay
I'm trying to learn a bit of LINQ but I'm having compile issues right off the bat. Is there any specific reason why this won't work? using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace HelloLINQ { class HelloLINQ { public static void Main() { Example1(); } public static void Example1() { var numbers = new int[] { 1, 5, 3, 7, 3, 8, 9, 3, 6, 6, 2 }; var under5 = from n in numbers select n; foreach (var n in under5) { Console.WriteLine(n); } } } } The error is: Could not find an implementation of the query pattern for source type 'int[]'. 'Select' not found. Are you missing a reference to 'System.Core.dll' or a using directive for 'System.Linq'?

  • Operator Overloading for Queue C++

    - by Josh
    I was trying to use the overload operator method to copy the entries of one queue into another, but I am going wrong with my function. I don't know how else to access the values of the queue "original" any other way than what I have below: struct Node { int item; Node* next; }; class Queue { public: [...] //Extra code here void operator = (const Queue &original); protected: Node *front, *end; } void Queue::operator=(const Queue &original) { //THIS IS WHERE IM GOING WRONG while(original.front->next != NULL) { front->item = original.front->item; front->next = new Node; front = front->next; original.front = original.front->next; } }

  • Web Forms Routing not having correct path to images, css, scripts ...

    - by feronovak
Hello, I am trying to use new .net 4.0 Routing for Web Forms with mixed success. protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.MapPageRoute( "", "article/{id}/{title}", "~/ar.aspx", true, new RouteValueDictionary{{"id", "[0-9]*"}, {"title", ""}} ); } Routing as such works well on a local machine as well as a remote server. However, I am unable to find out how to set up routing in such a way that server ignores routing for images, css and scripts so it will be read as http://address/css/text.css instead of http://address/article/1212/some-text/css/text.css The only way I can make this work if I put tag into but I am sure it can be done other way. I would appreciate any help on this topic. Fero

  • Thread Question

    - by Polaris
I have method which create background thread to make some action. In this background thread I create object. But this object while creating in runtime give me an exception : The calling thread must be STA, because many UI components require this. I know that I must use Dispatcher to make reflect something to UI. But in this case I just create an object and dont iteract with UI. This is my code: public void SomeMethod() { BackgroundWorker worker = new BackgroundWorker(); worker.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(Background_Method); worker.RunWorkerAsync(); } void Background_Method(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { TreeView tv = new TreeView(); } How can I create objects in background thread? I use WPF application

  • Will C++1x support __stdcall or extern "C" capture-nothing lambdas?

    - by Daniel Trebbien
Yesterday I was thinking about whether it would be possible to use the convenience of C++1x lambda functions to write callbacks for Windows API functions. For example, what if I wanted to use a lambda as an EnumChildProc with EnumChildWindows? Something like: EnumChildWindows(hTrayWnd, CALLBACK [](HWND hWnd, LPARAM lParam) { // ... return static_cast<BOOL>(TRUE); // continue enumerating }, reinterpret_cast<LPARAM>(&myData)); Another use would be to write extern "C" callbacks for C routines. E.g.: my_class *pRes = static_cast<my_class*>(bsearch(&key, myClassObjectsArr, myClassObjectsArr_size, sizeof(my_class), extern "C" [](const void *pV1, const void *pV2) { const my_class& o1 = *static_cast<const my_class*>(pV1); const my_class& o2 = *static_cast<const my_class*>(pV2); int res; // ... return res; })); Is this possible?

  • Why wasn't C# designed with 'const' for variables and methods?

    - by spoulson
    I suspect const was simplified for the C# spec for general language simplicity. Was there a specific reason we can't declare variable references or methods as const like we can with C++? e.g.: const MyObject o = new MyObject(); // Want const cast referenece of MyObject o.SomeMethod(); // Theoretically legal because SomeMethod is const o.ChangeStuff(); // Theoretically illegal because ChangeStuff is not const class MyObject { public int val = 0; public void SomeMethod() const { // Do stuff, but can't mutate due to const declaration. } public void ChangeStuff() { // Code mutates this instance. Can't call with const reference. val++; } }

  • Displaying text in UILabel in iPhone

    - by SeniorLee
OK. What's wrong with my code? - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; lblResult = [UILabel alloc]; } - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { lblResult.text = @"BlahBlah"; } I linked lblResult to Label object in IB well. But the label only shows the default text. Where's my BlahBlah?? And when the default string I set in the IB actually set to lblResult?? The reason that BlahBlah string is not displyed is I guess because lblResult.text is over-written by default string specified from IB. Just my guess. Can anyone make me clear with that?

  • How to pass a linc to class function and call it?

    - by Kabumbus
So I have a class like class mySafeData { public: void Set( int i ) { myMutex.lock(); myData = i; myMutex.unlock(); } void Get( int& i) { myMutex.lock(); i = myData; myMutex.unlock(); } private: int myData; boost::mutex myMutex; }; its instance is running. Lets call instance A. I want to create a new class that would take as a start up argument some kind of link to Getter from A and would be capable to somehow save link to thet getter for calling it inside its private methods vhen needed. how to do such thing?

  • Check if a type is an instantiation of a template

    - by Pedro Lacerda
I have structs like struct RGBA (T) {/* ... */} struct BMPFile (DataT) if (is(DataT == RGBA)) {/* ... */} But is(DataT == RGBA) cannot work because DataT is a type and RGBA is a template. Instead I need check if a type is an instantiation of a template in order to declare file like BMPFile!(RGBA!ushort) file; In a comment @FeepingCreature showed struct RGBA(T) { alias void isRGBAStruct; } struct BMPFile (DataT) if (is(DataT.isRGBAStruct)) {} Although to be working I have no tips on alias void isRGBAStruct.

  • How to pass Remote Interface (aidl) throughout Activities ?

    - by Spredzy
Hi All, I am developing an application using services and Remote interface. I have a question about passing the reference of my Remote interface throughout Activities. In my first Activity, I bind my service with my activity, in order to get a reference to my interface I use private ServiceConnection mConnection = new ServiceConnection() { @Override public void onServiceConnected(ComponentName arg0, IBinder service) { x = X.Stub.asInterface(service); } @Override public void onServiceDisconnected(ComponentName arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } }; x being the reference to my interface. Now I would like to access this interface from another activity, I see two ways to do it but I don't know which one is the "proper" way to do it : passing x with my intent when I call the new Activity redo this.bindService(new Intent(y.this,z.class), mConnection, Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE); in the onCreate() of my new Activity What would you advice me to do ?

  • to write log files in two different files

    - by Sun
my application run on customized client framework, the client framework used log4net to log their own log files. we are(our application) has to use the same log4net to log our log files in our own path(say our customized path). currently the our log files are created but log are not writing in that file.it is writting in the client framework log file. searched lot of sites the link http://stackoverflow.com/questions/308436/log4net-programmatcially-specify-multiple-loggers-with-multiple-file-appenders helped me to configure the log4net config programatically, still im log statemets are not written in my log file.the code used as below public class TraceLog { private string message = string.Empty; private static ILog ILogger = null; private static TraceLog instance = new TraceLog(); private TraceLog() { SetLevel("Log4net.MainForm", "ALL"); AddAppender("Log4net.MainForm", CreateFileAppender("FileAppender", "C:\\mylog.log")); } public static TraceLog Instance { get { return instance; } } public void Debug(string logMessage) { message = PrepareLog(logMessage); ILogger.Debug(message); } protected string PrepareLog(string logMessage) { string message = GetFileMethodLineNumberInfo(); message += logMessage; return message; } protected string GetFileMethodLineNumberInfo() { StackTrace stackTrace = new StackTrace(true); // The position 3 is relative to the index of the specified method StackFrame stackFrame = stackTrace.GetFrame(3); return (stackFrame.GetMethod().DeclaringType.Name + "/" + stackFrame.GetMethod().Name + "/" + stackFrame.GetFileLineNumber() + ":"); } private static void SetLevel(string loggerName, string levelName) { ILogger = LogManager.GetLogger(loggerName); log4net.Repository.Hierarchy.Logger l = (log4net.Repository.Hierarchy.Logger)ILogger.Logger; l.Level = l.Hierarchy.LevelMap[levelName]; } private static void AddAppender(string loggerName, IAppender appender) { ILogger = LogManager.GetLogger(loggerName); log4net.Repository.Hierarchy.Logger l = (log4net.Repository.Hierarchy.Logger)ILogger.Logger; l.AddAppender(appender); } private static IAppender CreateFileAppender(string name, string fileName) { FileAppender appender = new FileAppender(); appender.Name = name; appender.File = fileName; appender.AppendToFile = true; //PatternLayout layout = new PatternLayout(); //layout.ConversionPattern = "%d [%t] %-5p %c [%x] - %m%n"; //layout.ActivateOptions(); //appender.Layout = layout; appender.ActivateOptions(); return appender; } } } anyone pls help how to solve this

  • C++ linked list based tree structure. Sanely move nodes between lists.

    - by krunk
The requirements: Each Node in the list must contain a reference to its previous sibling Each Node in the list must contain a reference to its next sibling Each Node may have a list of child nodes Each child Node must have a reference to its parent node Basically what we have is a tree structure of arbitrary depth and length. Something like: -root(NULL) --Node1 ----ChildNode1 ------ChildOfChild --------AnotherChild ----ChildNode2 --Node2 ----ChildNode1 ------ChildOfChild ----ChildNode2 ------ChildOfChild --Node3 ----ChildNode1 ----ChildNode2 Given any individual node, you need to be able to either traverse its siblings. the children, or up the tree to the root node. A Node ends up looking something like this: class Node { Node* previoius; Node* next; Node* child; Node* parent; } I have a container class that stores these and provides STL iterators. It performs your typical linked list accessors. So insertAfter looks like: void insertAfter(Node* after, Node* newNode) { Node* next = after->next; after->next = newNode; newNode->previous = after; next->previous = newNode; newNode->next = next; newNode->parent = after->parent; } That's the setup, now for the question. How would one move a node (and its children etc) to another list without leaving the previous list dangling? For example, if Node* myNode exists in ListOne and I want to append it to listTwo. Using pointers, listOne is left with a hole in its list since the next and previous pointers are changed. One solution is pass by value of the appended Node. So our insertAfter method would become: void insertAfter(Node* after, Node newNode); This seems like an awkward syntax. Another option is doing the copying internally, so you'd have: void insertAfter(Node* after, const Node* newNode) { Node *new_node = new Node(*newNode); Node* next = after->next; after->next = new_node; new_node->previous = after; next->previous = new_node; new_node->next = next; new_node->parent = after->parent; } Finally, you might create a moveNode method for moving and prevent raw insertion or appending of a node that already has been assigned siblings and parents. // default pointer value is 0 in constructor and a operator bool(..) // is defined for the Node bool isInList(const Node* node) const { return (node->previous || node->next || node->parent); } // then in insertAfter and friends if(isInList(newNode) // throw some error and bail I thought I'd toss this out there and see what folks came up with.

  • Can I compose a WCF callback contract out of multiple interfaces?

    - by mafutrct
Followup question to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2502930/how-can-i-compose-a-wcf-contract-out-of-multiple-interfaces. I tried to merge multiple callback interfaces in a single interface. This yields an InvalidOperationException claiming that the final interface contains no operations. Technically, this is true, however, the inherited interfaces do contain operations. How can I fix this? Or is this a limitation of WCF? Edit: interface A { [OperationContract]void X(); } interface B { [OperationContract]void Y(); } interface C: A, B {} // this is the public callback contract

  • C++ is there a difference between assignment inside a pass by value and pass by reference function?

    - by Rémy DAVID
Is there a difference between foo and bar: class A { Object __o; void foo(Object& o) { __o = o; } void bar(Object o) { __o = o; } } As I understand it, foo performs no copy operation on object o when it is called, and one copy operation for assignment. Bar performs one copy operation on object o when it is called and another one for assignment. So I can more or less say that foo uses 2 times less memory than bar (if o is big enough). Is that correct ? Is it possible that the compiler optimises the bar function to perform only one copy operation on o ? i.e. makes __o pointing on the local copy of argument o instead of creating a new copy?

  • Function declaration in C and C++

    - by Happy Mittal
I have two C++ files, say file1.cpp and file2.cpp as //file1.cpp #include<cstdio> void fun(int i) { printf("%d\n",i); } //file2.cpp void fun(double); int main() { fun(5); } When I compile them and link them as c++ files, I get an error "undefined reference to fun(double)". But when I do this as C files, I don't get error and 0 is printed instead of 5. Please explain the reason. Moreover I want to ask whether we need to declare a function before defining it because I haven't declared it in file1.cpp but no error comes in compilation.
