  • How to efficiently manage files on a filesystem in Java?

    I am creating a few JAX-WS endpoints, for which I want to save the received and sent messages for later inspection. To do this, I am planning to save the messages (XML files) into filesystem, in some sensible hierarchy. There will be hundreds, even thousands of files per day. I also need to store metadata for each file. I am considering to put the metadata (just a couple of fields) into database table, but the XML file content itself into files in a filesystem in order not to bloat the database with content data (that is seldomly read). Is there some simple library that helps me in saving, loading, deleting etc. the files? It's not that tricky to implement it myself, but I wonder if there are existing solutions? Just a simple library that already provides easy access to filesystem (preferrably over different operating systems). Or do I even need that, should I just go with raw/custom Java?

  • nHibernate query looking for the related object's related object

    I have an nHibernate querie issue that looks quite straight forward, but I can't seem to get my head around it! I am creating some simple example classes to illustrate my problem: public class Car { public int Id { get; set; } public IList<Interior> InteriorParts { get; set; } } public class Interior { public int Id { get; set; } public InteriorProducer Producer { get; set; } } public class InteriorProducer { public int Id { get; set; } } Now to the query: I have the id of the InteriorProducer, but need to get a list of Cars where the interior have been produced by the interior producer. So in a simple, pseudo SQL, it looks something like this: select cars where car.InteriorParts.Producer.Id = Id I have a really hard time getting my head around this to create an nHibernate query.   • Host not visible in ECC after pushing master agent on server

    Hi all!! ECC master Agent has been pushed to one of the servers.. Once a Master Agent installed the host should appear within ECC.However, I am unable to see the host. I asked the Server team to stop and start the master agent ,and to check whether required port is enabled, so that server can talk with ECC server. After restarting the service I get an error.I even checked if the port is used by any other service ,it is not.. Somebody plz help what should done here..it’s a Windows server. Here's the error:- "The EMC control Center Master agent service on local computer atrted and the stopped.Some services stopped automatically if they 've no work to do,for example prformance logs and alert services" Thanks in advance!!

  • nHibernate one-to-many inserts but doesnt update

    Instead of getting into code, I have a simple question. Default behavior for a simple one-to-many is that it inserts the child record then updates the foreign key column with the parent key. Has anyone ever had a one-to-many where the child object gets inserted but not updated resulting in a row in my table with a null in the foreign key column? I want the default behaviour for a standard one-to-many. I don't want to have to add the parent as a property to the child. Thanks.

  • Send Keyboard Events from one Form to another Form

    Hello, my question is quite simple: Our C# application has one MainForm with a menu and several keyboard shortcuts associated with the menu entries. Now we need to trigger the menu entries from some child forms too. But since the MainForm is inactive when one of the child forms is active, the shortcuts do not work. Is there a simple way to propagate all keyboard events from the child form to the 'Owner' form? Or just to another form in general? Ah, and we cannot use some low level windows stuff, because we need to run the application on Mono/Linux too.

    Trying to get my project updated to MVC3, something I just can't find: I have a simple datatype of ENUMS: public enum States() { AL,AK,AZ,...WY } Which I want to use as a DropDown/SelectList in my view of a model that contains this datatype: public class FormModel() { public States State {get; set;} } Pretty straight forward: when I go to use the auto-generate view for this partial class, it ignores this type. I need a simple select list that sets the value of the enum as the selected item when I hit submit and process via my AJAX - JSON POST Method.   • Delphi component or library to display mathematical expressions

    I'm looking for a simple component that displays mathematical expressions in Delphi. When I started out I thought it would be easy to find something on the net, but it turns out it was harder than anticipated. There are lots and lots of components that will parse mathematical expressions, but few (none?) that will display them. Ideally I would like a component as simple as a TLabel, where I could set the caption to some expression and it would be displayed correctly, but some sort of library that let's me draw expressions to a canvas would also be sufficient for my needs. Update: I'm not talking about plotting graphs of functions or something like that. I want to display (for instance) (X^2+3)/X like this:

  • How do I copy input from one textbox to another via checkbox using jQuery?

    I'm cleaning up a simple form that has a Start Date textbox and an End Date textbox. I want to add a checkbox in between these fields that the user can check if the End Date is the same as the Start Date, so when they check it, the Start Date input value (e.g., 04/01/09) will automagically appear in the End Date textbox, so they don't have to type in the same date twice. Does that make sense? BTW, I'm using the sexy jquery datepicker UI, and it's sweet, but I just can't figure out the above problem. I know there's a simple solution (event handler?) but I'm stumped.

  • Using NSURLRequest+NSURLConnection seems overkill for a webcall with no data return

    All, This might seems very straightforward but I have already gone through the URL loading system program guide and the various NSURL.... classes and not found my answer. I am just trying to do a simple call from the app to a website to reserve a party spot: NSString *path=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.myparty123.com/ireservedURL.asp?Nickname=%@&Seat=%i&Email=%@&Currentparty=%i",john,5432,[email protected],6598]; NSURL* reservationURL =[NSURL URLWithString:path]; NSData *call= [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:reservationURL]; This seemed to be the simple way but I get this warning that I am not using the "call" variable. And it seems overkill to do a call using NSData where there is no data return. Yet, creating an NSURLRequest and initiating an NSURLConnection and then implementing delegates with that request seems to be overkill as well. What am I missing. Thanks KMB

  • a4j:support within a rich:modalPanel

    Hi all, I've hit a wall. I know the a4j and rich tags pretty well (I use Seam 2.2.0 and Richfaces 3.3.1). However, I'm trying to do something quite simple, but in a rich:modalPanel. It seems that rich:modalPanels do not allow Ajax events to be fired. Here's a simple breakdown: I have a h:selectOneMenu with some items in it and whose value is attached to a backing bean. Attached to that h:selectOneMenu is a a4j:support tag so that whenever the change event is fired, the backing bean should get updated. Truly simple stuff eh? However, when this h:selectOneMenu is in a rich:modalPanel the onchange event doesn't update the backing bean until the rich:modalPanel closes. I can confirm this because I'm running it in Eclipse debug mode and I have a breakpoint on the setter of the property that's hooked up to the h:selectOneMenu. This is driving me mad! This is vanilla stuff for Ajax, but rich:modalPanels don't seem to allow it. So, the question is: can I do Ajax stuff within a rich:modalPanel? I'm basically trying to use the rich:modalPanel as a form (I've tried a4j:form and h:form to no avail) that reacts to changes to the drop down (e.g. when the user changes the drop down, a certain part of the form should get reRendered). Am I trying to do something that's not possible?   • shall I move from prototype to jquery?

    lastly I've been feeling like jquery is slowly becoming the defacto standard in js libraries I might be wrong!) or at least that is more active than the rest of the frameworks... for example I've been looking for a fine open source calendar like componente and found http://fullcalendar.vinsol.com/ we've been using prototype for very little things, like its selector capabilities ($ function as a shortcut for document.getElementById, mainly), executing some piece of js when the page is loaded and to issue some very simple ajax calls. so I guess the migration should be quite straight forward, but I'd like to know the pros / cons of migrating to prototype... on the other hand, I guess that having both of them together is not a good choice, specially taking into account that the migration should be quite simple... am I right? saludos sas

  • Drupal - Counting data in nodes, creating custom statistics

    Hiya, I'm building some custom content types to capture customer data on a website. Admins will enter the data, users will be able to view it, but I also need to be able to bolt on some statistics and infographics to the data. The problem I have is that I can't see any simple way of doing this within Drupal. Are there modules which can produce simple stats on selected node types or will I have to write a complete custom module using the data abstraction layer? Thanks for any insights!

    I'm compiling a simple program written in C and I'm using Eclipse as an IDE, both in Windows 7 and on my MacBook Pro. Very simple program my friend wrote and asked me to help him with: int a = 0; char b[2]; printf("Input first class info:\n"); printf("Credit Hours: \n"); scanf("%d", &a); printf("Letter Grade: "); scanf("%s", b); So when I run this on my mac, each line prints and when I encounter the scanf(), I can input and continue as expected. In Windows, I have to input everything and then it will print all the lines. I'm not sure why this is happening... what is the difference b/w Windows and Mac here? I have not used the re module in Python before...so I am assuming there is a better way to do this... I am also open to a more graceful solution with Beautiful Soup ... but haven't used that either.. Just trying to keep this as simple as possible...

    Hello, I have Windows Vista Business Edition running on my laptop (brand is HCL). I have 4 HDD which are as follows - C - 29.2 GB (of which only 3.68 GB is free) D - 39 GB (of which 37.8 GB is free) E - 39 GB (of which 37.3 GB is free) F - 41.6 (of which 41.4 GB is free) However, my page file settings are as below. Automatically manage paging file for all drives. Question - Why should I set one for each drive? Should I set my page file on the OS Root Drive. I happen to talk to a System Administrator in an IT company and he advised that we should never set the page file on the OS drive but on an alternate drive wherever possible. It would be really helpful, if you can guide me here or at least point me to the right resources so that I can read about paging and best practices of paging. Cheers,

  • Sharepoint site settings add on ssl port number?

    WSS 3.0 IIS6/WinSever2003 CAG We have several WSS sites on a SharePoint WSS box that talk to the outside, all of which are SSL enabled. So you get a CAG(Citrix Access Gateway) to translate the 443 port to the local ssl port on the server. Everything is set up and works fine until you get into the Site Settings and start rooting around, it seems like a very unstable link library. Links will try to use the local ssl port number instead of the 443 standard; it will try to skip the step. Is that the site? Any ideas on how to fix it?

  • How to handle concurrency control in ASP.NET Dynamic Data?

    I've been quite impressed with dynamic data and how easy and quick it is to get a simple site up and running. I'm planning on using it for a simple internal HR admin site for registering people's skills/degrees/etc. I've been watching the intro videos at www.asp.net/dynamicdata and one thing they never mention is how to handle concurrency control. It seems that DD does not handle it right out of the box (unless there is some setting I haven't seen) as I manually generated a change conflict exception and the app failed without any user friendly message. Anybody know if DD handles it out of the box? Or do you have to somehow build it into the site?

  • Suppressing the language select button iPhone

    I'm working on an application now that contains an account register section. One field with secureTextEntry = NO (for registering only). The idea is this make registration faster and hopefully increases the number of signups. It's simple enough for me to just place a regular UITextField but if the user has any additional language keyboards then it's possible for the user to enter non-password friendly characters. Unlike in when secureTextEntry = YES. I know I can do textField.keyboardType = UIKeyboardTypeASCIICapable to get the text field to display the ASCII keyboard first, but the user will still have the keyboard switch button which will allow them to get to undesirable characters. Is there a simple method for suppressing the international button or forcing ASCII only keyboard with no international button? [EDIT] Another perhaps better option might be to suppress multi byte keyboards or even to display the text in the case that secureTextEntry = YES any ideas here? [EDIT AGAIN] I've decided it's a really bad idea to suppress the international button as non-multibyte characters should all be allowed.

  • Javascript: replacing newlines with <br/> working in FF and SAFARI and not working in IE

    I was thinking that replacing \n with with javascript was quite a simple task, but it seems not to be so. Posts in Ask Ben or StackOverflow suggest that something as simple as: dst= dst.replace (/\n/g, "<br/>"); $("div.descr").html(dst); will get the job done. Indeed, this work in FF and Safari but not in IE. Text has been created in a textarea and then stored in a database, then retrieved without further processing. It works using FF on windows and Safari on Mac. IE on windows, nada. Is it a major bug in my head? Is it a JQuery issue? Have some idea about how to solve this? And possible reason for? Many thanks

  • Should I use Drupal or Kohana-type framework for a web "application"

    The debate is that I need a PHP Framework/Drupal with the flexibility to add custom features to a potentially large application (web and with an api). However, with a framework, like Kohana, I see myself tackling and re-inventing the wheel with the simple stuff like account management and cms stuff. Account management and quick data collection, like fast form creation, are tedious in Kohana but appear incredible simple in Drupal. On the other hand, based on my limited Drupal experience, I doubt building rapid custom "features" and allowing users to create "groups" and to manage their own roles within those groups is something Drupal can easily accomplish. To simplify, is Drupal capable of true Web Applications; where the application is a service and provides custom results to each user? Can it provide a dashboard-like interface for users to change their settings or preferences? Can it aggregate data from particular users to provide better results/info to others? If so, please point me to some knowledge :-)
