  I need to create a simple app which can display geometries from Oracle Spatial in C#. These geometries are exported from AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 to Oracle Spatial. I need to pan, zoom, manage layers of these objects, events (like right click to popup a contextual menu, potentially different for every object), creating/deleting points (maybe also other polygons): a sort of simple AutoCAD interface. Should I look for an AutoCAD OEM license? Is there a drawing framework which can handle this or do I need to create my own?

  I have 2 Linksys WRT54GL routers flashed with DD-WRT. On each I have a different ISP, and thus a different private network. I would like to be able to talk to either network regardless of what network I am on. Example: ISP1 - Router1 - Client ISP2 - Router2 - Client What I would like to do is something like: ISP1 - Router1 - Client              ^              |              v ISP2 - Router2 - Client This would be ideally because then I don't need to introduce another device in the mix, unless I have to. But I guess the first question is - is this even possible?

  I have a business plan & money to hire a developer - the essentials involve simple online games for children (played via traditional computer over the internet) such that their scores are uploaded to a database that can be viewed via a nice portal. What I don't know is: what technologies I would want my developer to know (the only somewhat unusual requirement I have is that the games have relatively accurate timing of keypresses/mouse presses) how much I should expect to pay (in general, what is the appropriate range) how many hours a program of the complexity of a simple tower defense -type game should take to develop (to be clear, the idea is not to implement TD, but rather other games of similar complexity) whether I should go with capable acquaintances, some online kind of online web-dev bidding site, or just try to find a capable undergraduate at the local university who I can wow with his/her first big paycheck, how I should communicate the software's specifications to my hired developer... Is there a standard I should be using? whether I should hire a webdev consultant for a few hours to help me answer these questions, instead of asking stackoverflow Thanks for any advice!

  I'm trying to make a simple program that continually displays and updates a label that displays the CPU usage, while having other unrelated things going on. I've done enough research to know that threading is likely going to be involved. However, I'm having trouble applying what I've seen in simple examples of threading to what I'm trying to do. The way my code is written (I run very simple websites and built my own basic framework which I use across all of them) I shouldn't have too many problems modifying the functions and classes. However, i've only heard positive things about prepared statements, bar a few grumblings about the php functions available, most notably the lack of a simple replacement for using mysql_fetch_array in a while. This sounds a bit too good to be true, so I wondered if anyone could highlight some of the issues with using prepared statements, such as speed and resource usage.

  Can't find any tutorial for creating a simple questionnaire system on RoR (without using Finite State Machines). I think the Model is simple: Quizzes (have many Questions) Questions (belong to Quizzes, have many Choices, have one Answer) Choices (belong to Questions) Responses (belong to Users, belong to Questions) Users (have many Responses). User logs in (session is created), chooses some Quiz (Questions which belong to this Quiz are shown). User navigates through the Questions, makes his choice (Response), finishes the Quiz. Responses are compared with Answers. System shows some results. But as I'm new to Rails it is difficult for me to make it work properly. Any help? Maybe there is a tutorial where some similar app is created?

  I'm reading Fowler Clean Code book and I think that my code is a little messy, I want some suggestions: I have a simple business requirement that is return the date of new execution of my Thread. I've two class fields: _hour and _day. If actual day is higher than my _day field I must return true, so I'll add a month to "executionDate" If the day is the same, but the actual hour is higher than _hour I should return true too.   Before I had the 25/5 line and the n standard router did just fine. Now it doesn't do the job. Online speedtest reads at 82 so I have the line. But my laptop is getting less than 30 in my room. My laptop has the following WiFi card: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/centrino-advanced-n-6205.html What is this talk about 2,5 and 5ghz? Can my laptop be connected at once over both bandwidths? And that would let me use the full 70Mb over wifi? Hope it's ok to ask network questions here.

• C# DLL reference changes version and becomes unloadable (Plugin-system)

  I will try to keep this as simple as possible. I have a rather simple plugin system that has run into a problem. I have 2 assemblies: Host.exe Plugin.dll Plugin.dll references Host.exe (which contains interfaces and classes that Plugin.dll implement and use). At runtime, Host.exe loads Plugin.dll through reflection and this works great. Except when Host.exe updates and gets a new version number. Then I get an error once I try to load Plugin.dll, saying that Host.exe (with the old version number) can't be found. This means I have to rebuild all plugins every time Host.exe changes build number. Anyone got a solution to this?

• Two Routers, Two Internet (1 Open, 1 PPTP) - Routing?

  Hi there, I'm trying to setup two routers - one to route specific sites to a always-on PPTP VPN connection, the other for open internet access w/ firewall. First router is connected to Internet w/ built-in firewall. Second router is connected to a PPTP VPN connection. I was going to connect a wire between the routers and would like some insight on how to get both groups of systems (connected to each router) to talk between automatically. Even better would be to setup one gateway for certain sites and another for general Internet. The other option is to default all sites to the net and shoot others to the gateway or vice versa... Any insight so I can get a better grasp of this? Thanks!

• Encrypt LAN and wifi traffic on small private network

  I need some advice about encrypt all traffic on a small private network running wi-fi and LAN traffic on 192.168.0.x network. The network would comprise of client laptops connecting to the wi-fi router (192.168.0.254) via ethernet connection or wireless. The main purpose of the server is for the client laptops to talk to two servers on different IP's (192.168.0.200 and 192.168.0.201) on ports 80 and 433. My main concern is having packet sniffers and what not getting access to the data. The only ways I see at the moment is to have VPN running on the network or use IPSec policy's to do this. Any other ways guys?

• How can Perl interact with an ajax form

  I'm writing a perl program that was doing a simple get command to retrieve results and process them. But the site has been updated and now has a java component that handles the results (so the actual data is not in the source code anymore). This is the site: http://wro.westchesterclerk.com/legalsearch.aspx Try putting in: Index Number: 11103 Year: 2009 I want to be able to pro grammatically enter the "index number" and "year" at the bottom of the form where it says "search by number" and then retrieve the results listed next to it. I've written many programs in Perl that simply pass variables via the URL and the results are listed in the source code, so it's easy to parse. (Using LWP:Simple) Like: $html = get("http://www.url.com?id=$somenum&year=$someyear") But this is totally new to me and I don't know where to begin. I'm somewhat familiar with LWP:UserAgent and Mechanize. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

  I have the following: Netgear GS724T (Firmware Version V1.0.3_35, Protocol Version - 2.001.002) 4 x Indineon ISFP GBR/FC Settings STP Function - Enabled Fast Link - Enabled Trunking port 23,24, (21,22 - RJ45 cables, but not connected.) I have connected both switches via 2 fiber cables and want to use trunking. The problem I am having. Sometimes I get a an issue when none of the switches cannot talk with each other, nor the devices, sometime they can. The problem is irregular and no patten can be determined The statistics shows that when the switches does not work, they have RX errors If I remove one to the GBIC connections, then everything works as normal.] Question Does anyone have a solution for this please? • EasyXDM passing data issue

  I'm using rpc with XDM, and I can send simple data back and forth easily between child and parent window. But it seems to be limited to simple strings and numbers. The demos on the site only use numbers. When I try to send a json ecoded string, I get a cross domain error. When I use cors, I can make ajax requests fine, but I can't display the child page in the iframe, because the data is returned and not rendered. My question is, how can I render an iframe, and pass complex data back and forth. Or maybe I am doing something wrong?

• Recovering files that do not appear in the Recycle Bin, but are in the $Recycle.bin folder on external drive

  Problem: I have an NTFS external drive with a $Recycle.bin folder on the root (E:/$Recycle.bin/) that has about 70gb worth of data. For whatever reason, the folder is no longer a hidden system file and no Windows machine I have used the drive on will show the files in the actual Recycle Bin. What I Want To Do: I want to atleast view the recycle bin files from this external, and all of the help articles I have read just talk about deleting the folder all together. I plan on reformating the drive, but first I need to see if there are any important deleted files. What Didn't Work: Recuva - didn't see any of my files Resetting the external's Recycle Bin via command prompt and moving the old $Recycle.bin files into the new external $Recycle.bin folder (I didn't read this anywhere, just made it up on my own)

• PCAP Web Service Usage Logging for Dummies

  I've been assigned the task (for work) of working with PCAP for the first time in my life. I've read through the tutorials and have hacked together a real simple capture program which, it turns out, isn't that hard. However, making use of the data is more difficult. My goal is to log incomming and outgoing web service requests. Are there libraries (C or C++) that stitch together the packets from PCAP that would make reporting on this simple? Baring that is there something short of reading all of the RFC's from soup to nuts that will allow me to have an "ah-ha!" moment (all of the tutorials seem to stop at the raw packet level which isn't useful for me)? It looks like PERL has a library that may do this and I may eventually attempt a reverse engineer from PERL. NOTE BENE: Web Server logs aren't acceptable here as I will be intercepting on a routing device. If I had access to those I'd be done and happy...I don't.

• dd-wrt Bonjour/ netbios etc on two subnets

  Hi I was wondering if any clever people out there could help me. I have a network setup with two different subnets 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.0.0 one router is connected to a VPN (via OpenVPN) the other is not. Both routers have static routes to each other and a device on one can communicate to another without issues when using IP addresses. My problem is I want to use services like Bonjour, Netbios and Apple Talk across the two networks, which currently does not work. A laptop connected on one subnet will not see a laptop connected on another. Is there anyway that you can connect the two networks together so these sort of local service will work??? I guess I have to forward the boardcast packets but I have no idea how to do this. Thanks for any help...
