• Centrino Wireless-N 1000 takes forever to connect and keeps asking for password

  A few days ago I started having this problem. When I tried to connect to any WiFi Connection it would stay connecting forever, and after a minute or so it would ask me for the password again. The strange thing is that this happened out of nowhere, I did not install any new drivers or anything like that. After this happened I decided to uninstall ubuntu and install it again ("inside windows") but the problem is still there. • Why are my videos playing speeded up with no audio, but work fine if I log in as a guest?

  Since the start of this week I have been experiencing a glitch in the multimedia on my Samsung R518 laptop. I have 2 problems: Videos in every player are speeded up around 2 or 4 times (including youtube.com (both HTML5 and flash variants), any other video on the web and videos on my laptop played by Totem Media Player), exception is VLC player, but 2nd problem does concern even that. There is no sound - simple as that (with or without headphones plugged in). These all problems are now, and has not seen before, I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 after it was possible, and from start I didn't have anything from this - it just started in this week. I haven't even putted new software in. I have more or less solved the question (kind of) - I just logged in as a guest - and it all works, but when I make a new user - it does not. Please help me.   Well i have a Blueooth dongle with an BCM2046 IC intrregated, my problem is that when i connect it, Ubuntu recognize it, but it don't work whe i try to scan or scan the PC from other device, i replaced the default Gnome Bluetooth manager and i installed Blueman, but the problem presists. • Building a template engine - starting point

  We're building a Django-based project with a template component. This component will be separate from the project as such and can be Django/Python, Node, Java or whatever works. The template has to be rendered into HTML. The templates will contain references to objects with properties that are defined in the DB, say, a Bus. For eg, it could be something like [object type="vehicle" weight="heavy"] and it would have to pull a random object from the DB fulfilling the criteria : type="vehicle" weight="heavy" (bus/truck/jet) and then substitute that tag with an image, say, of a Bus. Also it would have to be able to handle some processing. Eg: What is [X type="integer" lte="10"] + [Y type="integer" lte="10"] [option X+Y correct_ans="true"] [option X-Y correct_ans="false"] [option X+y+1 correct_ans="false"] The engine would be expected to fill in a random integer value <= 10 for X and Y and show radioboxes for each of the options. Would also have to store the fact that the first option is the correct answer. Does it to make sense to write something from the scratch? Or is it better to use an existing templating system (like Django's own templating system) as a starting point? Any suggestions on how I can approach this?

  I have bought an Asus wireless LAN PC Card WL-100GE model, and I am using lubuntu on my system. While I have no cable connection, currently I cannot access the internet and update my laptop. • WIFI/LAN not working after Installing Ubuntu 13.10

  I can't connect to my WIFI after installing Ubuntu 13.10. I tried re-installing it three times (thinking that I did something wrong during the installation) but I still can't connect to my WIFI. It just gives me the message that I'm offline and that I can't connect to my WIFI. I also tried connecting to the internet using LAN cable but with the same results. I tried google but it seems that there's no solution to this yet.... Anybody knows how to solve this? Thanks! • Cygwin sshd on Windows 7 issue

  Using an administrator privileged account I have installed cygwin sshd following instructions here successfully on Windows XP, Vista, but on Windows 7, after installation without errors when I try to start the service ... net start sshd The CYGWIN sshd service is starting. The CYGWIN sshd service could not be started. The service did not report an error. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534. Has anyone seen this error, got any ideas on what might be wrong?

  I have a service run under daemontools defined like: /service/myservice/run = #!/bin/sh exec setuidgid someuser somecommand Now, if I run this as a script directly from a root shell, somecommand will get a correct ulimit (unlimited). However, when I start the service using svc -u /service/myservice then somecommand does get a ulimit effectively slightly above 11000. How can I have somecommand get the correct ulimit even when started via svc (not from a shell)? This is on FreeBSD 9 release.

• Nagios check for wuauserv on Windows Server 2008+

  From Windows Server 2008+, wuauserv is no longer a service that's ran all of the time and is instead ran as a scheduled task. I'm not sure of the exact behavior of how the scheduled task is created as it seems the schedule is generated and edited by another service. Prior to this, we setup nagios to just check for the running service to ensure it was accepting updates. My question is, how does one track the proper execution/running of wuauserv service in Windows Server 2008+ to ensure it is accepting updates with nagios?

• Can I sync my Tomboy notes from Windows through Ubuntu One?

  I have setup my Ubuntu machine to synchronize Tomboy notes with the Ubuntu One service. I'm now trying Tomboy on Windows and it would be great to have it sync with Ubuntu One. However, while Tomboy for Ubuntu does expose a 'Ubuntu One' service for synchronization, version 1.2.0 of Tomboy for Windows does not. I can, however, use a "Tomboy Web" service. Does Ubuntu One behave as a Tomboy Web service and how would I configure it to do so?

• Some services refusing to start on Win 7 machine. What could the root cause be?

  When I check msconfig, there are no services that are blocked from starting up. When I look in services.msc, the problem services have a start up type of 'Automatic', but have a blank space where others will show 'Started'. Attempting to start them manually results in the following pop up error messages. I have no idea what's causing this, looks like some sort of cascade effect from another problem service. It's affecting scheduled tasks, SQL server agent and windows back up services. How can I resolve this? I don't know how to work out what the root cause is. Task Scheduler Service Start Error: "Windows could not start the Task Scheduler service on local computer. 1068: The dependecy service or group failed to start. SQL Server Service Start Error: "The SQL Server Agent service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs." UPDATE: I've just noticed some other services have a description of "Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 2" They are: NetMsmqActivator, NetPipeActivator, NetTcpActivator, NetTcpPortSharing UPDATE 2: As joeqwerty says the Event Log service does seem to be the root of the problem. This service will not start either. It fails with 'Error 31 - A device attached to the system is not functioning correctly'. I've tried detaching all devices. I've also followed the advice here, where the same problem is described, but with no luck: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/44479c49-55e6-4bd7-b25e-3f2a6497306e Update 3 @ Pacey - The following was a good tip, really clear instruction. However, I found that those reg keys do not exist on my system. "Your Problem might also derive from the UpperFilter or LowerFilter Settings of the CDROM Drive. These are a known cause for Errorcode 31. You can find step-by-step instructions on removing the filters on about.com" I followed the advice through to checking every component in device manager separately, but everything is reported as working correctly!? These services did all work at one point. The hardware set up hasn't changed much. Guess I'm looking at a repair install maybe???!

It used to work before but after I formatted my system it gives the following error every time I start the vpn client If I check the logs I see this error The Juniper Network Connect Service service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

  Hi, i have a windows application and i need to change it into a windows service, How can i check whether the windows service is running or not without using any external service to keep a check on the main service. Is there any way to check it within the main service as i have tried work on it but if the windows service is stopped then there is no way i can check on it. Do i have to implement the thread(keep alive thread) for this, if so then how to do it. Please help. Thanks in adv.
