  I am generating file names that contain a timestamp in the following format: "base_name (yyyy-mm-dd hhmmss).ext" This seems to cause a problem on Android. I am able to send the file as a GMail attachment. The following file name is working fine: /storage/sdcard0/myapp/transfer/Net worth over time _ Forecast (2012-11-19 11070).pdf I tried the following troubleshooting: It's not the overall length of the file name, as if I shorten the base name, the same behavior remains It's not GMail, uploading the file to Google Drive fails similarly 16 characters inside the parentheses work, but not 17 It's not the space character inside the parentheses that causes the issue, as I replaced it with a dash and it's the same problem. Anybody has any ideas on what's going on here?

  Hi All right now I am moving first steps in clustering. I installed MPICH2 on my Ubuntu at home and I have a silly question about it. For what I am reading right now it seems that it provides the capability of sending processes to other pcs. I went for this lib just because I set it up very quickly and easily. Compared to MPICH2 , do you know what is the advantage of having a different clustering system like KERRYGHED? It seems that these ones also provide this capability, but the Kernel must be rebuild, so I suppose that it is going to be faster. What other advantages are remarkable for a clustering system like this? Thanks

• PHP mysql_real_escape_string() returning `NULL`

  I'm using PHP Version 5.1.6 and trying to escape a query string from my $_GET array. However my script is returning a NULL after it's escaped. It seems that mysql_escape_string() works fine, but it's deprecated, so I don't want to use it. Having checked over the phpinfo() the MySQL lib is all loaded fine from what I can see. Has anyone experienced this kind of thing before? $term = $_GET['q']; var_dump($term); // string(7) "richard" echo "<br />"; $sterm = mysql_real_escape_string($term, $db); var_dump($sterm); // NULL It's very strange to me, I can't imagine why this function wouldn't work.

• "rake test" doesn't load fixtures?

• Calling C/C++ library function from PHP

  We have a PHP web app running on a customer's machine. For an update, we have a bit of code in C that we'd like to include as a native opaque library along with the PHP web app. How does one go about calling a C/C++ lib. function from PHP? It cannot be assumed that the PHP app, called by the web server, has any sort of permission to call an exec(), eval(), or system() type of function to execute a C wrapper driver which in turn uses the C/C++ library, so it would need to be a direct C library use from within the PHP code.

  This code in PHP sends a HTTP POST to a Django app using CURL lib. I need that this code sends POST but redirect to the page in the same submit. Like a simple form does. • PHP: Extract direct sub directory from path string

  I need to extract the name of the direct sub directory from a full path string. For example, say we have: $str = "dir1/dir2/dir3/dir4/filename.ext"; $dir = "dir1/dir2"; Then the name of the sub-directory in the $str path relative to $dir would be "dir3". Note that $dir never has '/' at the ends. So the function should be: $subdir = getsubdir($str,$dir); echo $subdir; // Outputs "dir3" If $dir="dir1" then the output would be "dir2". If $dir="dir1/dir2/dir3/dir4" then the output would be "" (empty). If $dir="" then the output would be "dir1". Etc.. Currently this is what I have, and it works (as far as I've tested it). I'm just wondering if there's a simpler way since I find I'm using a lot of string functions. Maybe there's some magic regexp to do this in one line? (I'm not too good with regexp unfortunately). function getsubdir($str,$dir) { // Remove the filename $str = dirname($str); // Remove the $dir if(!empty($dir)){ $str = str_replace($dir,"",$str); } // Remove the leading '/' if there is one $si = stripos($str,"/"); if($si == 0){ $str = substr($str,1); } // Remove everything after the subdir (if there is anything) $lastpart = strchr($str,"/"); $str = str_replace($lastpart,"",$str); return $str; } As you can see, it's a little hacky in order to handle some odd cases (no '/' in input, empty input, etc). • Libxml2: undefined reference to xmlTextReaderConstName

  I have installed the latest libxml2-2.8.0, as usual: $ ./configure, $ make, $ make install. The $ xml2-config --cflags --libs gives this output: -I/usr/local/include/libxml2 -L/usr/local/lib -lxml2 -lm But trying to compile any example... $ gcc `xml2-config --cflags --libs` xmltest.c The linker says: /tmp/cc8ezrPl.o: In function `processNode': xmltest.c:(.text+0x19): undefined reference to `xmlTextReaderConstName' xmltest.c:(.text+0x38): undefined reference to `xmlTextReaderConstValue' ...etc. Anything I've googled can be solved by xml2-config --cflags --libs flags, or upgrading to the latest version of libxml2, or something. Unfortunately, neither works for me. What can be the steps to identify the problem? Using Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit.

• Managing memory of polymorphic timed events with DLL

  Here is my issue. My Gui library that I made supports timed events. Basically, I have a class called TimedEvent which users inherit from. They then do: addTimedEvent(new DerivedTimedEvent(...)); However given the nature of timed events, I manage the memory afterwards. So when the timed event has done its thing, my library calls delete on it. Although it runs fine, that is because the exe and the library were both built with msvc 2008. I think I might have trouble if I have 2 versions of the runtime, one for the lib, and one for the exe. What can I do to fix this? I can't create a factory because the derived type is on the exe side of things. I also cannot ask the user to call delete since they might not have a way to keep track of time, or know if the event was delayed for whatever reason. Thanks

• Looking for a managed image parser library (JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF)

  I am writing a discussion board software that will have "avatar" images for the users. I want to resize any picture that gets uploaded to a reasonable size. I could easily do that with System.Drawing but that is relying on GDI+ which has hat security problems before. The problem is that the images are untrusted. So I thought of using a fully managed lib to solve that problem because managed code cannot escape the sandbox (of course it can, but only if the code is user-supplied which it is not in my case). So does anybody know of a managed image parser library for JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF? If some format is missing than I will have to live with that. Edit: Paint.NET also relies on GDI+. You might be interested in the discussion below, too.

• JavaScript apparently waits for each AJAX call before sending another in a loop

Straight to the point: I have this javascript: for(item=1;item<5;item++) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET",'zzz.php', true); xmlhttp.send(); } And in PHP file something like this: usleep(5);die('ok'); Now the problem is javascript seems to be waiting for each ajax call to be completed before sending another one. So the first response gets back after approx. 5 seconds, next after 10 seconds and so on. That's a very simplified version of what I do, since the real script involves using cURL in PHP and jQuery as JS lib. But the problem remains the same. Why do responses come back in 5 second intervals?

  How do I configure my project buildpath to have a set of .jar files located in the same directory automatically included in the buildpath ? Meaning that adding a new .jar file to this directory (and refreshing the project) updates the buildpath ? Rem : I am not working in a Webapp but in a standalone Java app. I know that it is possible in a Dynamic Web Project to have all the .jars located in WEB-INF/lib to be included in the build path. Is it possible to do kind of the same include but in standalone app ? I am using Eclipse 3.4

  Hello. I want to use an embed an sqlite database into an existing tcl application (Migrate from flat-file). Currently; our tcl interpreter is run from a network location; /bin/tclsh8.3 I do have an nfs $PATH for executables set for all users already; I am assuming I can place a standalone sqlite3 executible there; though I have been not found an easy way to compile a local lib independent sqlite yet... (all linux clients, running anything from red hat 9 to ubuntu 10.04) Anyone able to poke me in the right direction in building an sqlite3 standalone binary I can use in my nfs tcl install? • Linking Error: undefined reference to `MPI_Init' on Windows 7

  I am using OpenMPI library to write a program to run on Windows 7. I compile and build with C Free 4.0, Mingw. Compiling is Ok but when the compiler links object, errors "undefined reference to ..." occurs. I have set the environment already: I added OpenMPI lib, include and bin folder into C Free Build Directories. I added them into Windows environment variables too. But the error still occurs. Can anyone tell me how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

• compiling QGIS Plugin using make

  On a fresh mac os x 10.8 install, i've Quantum GIS Installed from Kingchaos binaries and running fine. I'm trying to develop a plugin for QGIS, and using Plugin Builder. The skel that Plugin Builder, produces, should work off-the-shelf, but it does not compile using the makefile. Somewhere python can't find (pyuic.py), and it searches for (/Users/kyngchaos/...), path.   I am using this code to find files recursively in a folder , with size greater than 50000 bytes. def listall(parent): lis=[] for root, dirs, files in os.walk(parent): for name in files: if os.path.getsize(os.path.join(root,name))>500000: lis.append(os.path.join(root,name)) return lis This is working fine. But when I used this on 'temporary internet files' folder in windows, am getting this error. Please help to sort out this issue.

  I have 2 gradle projects: an Android app and a RoboSpock test. My build.gradle for the Android app has . . . dependencies { compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: '*.jar') compile ('com.actionbarsherlock:actionbarsherlock:4.4.0@aar') { exclude module: 'support-v4' } } . . . and builds correctly by itself, e.g assembleRelease works. I'm stuck getting the test to work. I gets lots of errors such as: package com.google.zxing does not exist Those seem to indicate that the .jar files aren't being picked up. Is it OK to have multiple Main() methods in a single project? Will I be able to compile them to different .jar files? (In this case I need two different jars for the server) Is there a better way to setup the packages? And a totally unrelated question, with exceptions, is it better to handle them right then and there or throw them and let the main method catch them all (the program cannot recover if an error occurs)

  Currently I use an IDE for all my builds and unit tests. Now I have a need to use ant. I found a few simple ant build.xml scripts but they didn't support a separate Junit test/ dir. My projects are structured as follows: src/ com/foo/ com/bar/ test/ -- Mirror of src/, with all *Test.java files. com/foo/ com/bar/ lib/ -- All Java libs, including junit 4. How can a construct a small ant script that builds my src/ and test/ Java classes then runs all my JUnit tests?
