  • What is a good program for mixed mode circuit simulation?

    I'm looking for a program that will perform schematic capture and mixed-mode (analog and digital) circuit simulation. If it also did PCB layout and routing, that would be a bonus, but not necessary. I currently use an old version of CircuitMaker/TraxMaker, but its dated, and the simulation engine is a bit lacking. Windows or Linux, doesn't really matter. What is a good program for this purpose?

    Hi, We have fiber optic internet coming to our office soon, and i would like to know if it would be worth installing fiber NIC's in our servers and machines instead of using cat6 gigabit. Here is the layout: (fiber) cable from distribution point in basement - fiber optic modem - Network gateway (debian lenny) - network computers and servers I was wondering if it would be worth installing a fiber connection from the modem to the gateway and the network clients.     I am taking a course in ancient Greek, and there are various accents that go above the vowels. I want to be able to type these on Ubuntu. For example, if I hit ';', then 'a' (while in the modern Greek keyboard layout), I get this character: ?. However, I can't figure out how to add the other accents (` and ^, for example).

  • How do I make the icons smaller in Stacks grid view for Snow Leopard?

    Since I installed Snow Leopard, I'm stuck with huge icons in my stacks/folder views in my dock. It use to adjust the layout and size of the window so that as many icons as possible fit on the screen, but now it shows huge icons and a scrollbar instead. I'd like the old behavior back so I don't have to scroll anymore. Does anyone know where the setting for this is? Maybe hidden in some .plist?

    Hi, I wonder if the following things can be done with the HTML notes pane of freemind: Is it possible on the layout view to decrease the separation between lines? The panel is horizontal, is it possible to setup a vertical view? (I have a big, horizontal-like monitor) By the way, when I move the mouse pointer over a node, i can see the HTLM note associated with it, but its view (as a yellow square) only lasts for some seconds. Can it be made permament? Thanks a lot

  • Windows 7 doesn't show image size for all images

    On Windows 7's new file layout in Explorer. Some PNGs will show the size whereas others won't. I've tried rebooting and clearing the cache, but it doesn't work. Also, all of these images were saved with Paint.NET, so I am sure that the size isn't embeded in the file, and if it is, it appears that Windows doesn't go by it. The ones without sizes are 300x300. Is there a maximum size before it won't show the size anymore?

    I just bought a new SSD for my laptop, which is going to be a server running ArchLinux with grub2, GPT and btrfs. My layout should look like this: (grub-partition?) /boot ext2 75MB / btrfs 15GB /home btrfs remaining What do I need to do to create these partitions in a correctly aligned fashion using parted? Do I need to consider alignment when formatting each partition with the desired file system?

  • Difference and correct usage for /tmp and /var/tmp

    I haven't put much thought into this until now, but it seems odd that there is a /var/tmp and /tmp directories for most of the linux distro's I routinely use ( Ubuntu, Centos, Redhat ). Is there any semantic difference between the two, like when whoever designed the first file system layout, he or she thought "Not all tmp file's are created equal!" The only difference I've found for centos, is that /tmp routinely scrubs out files older then 240 hours while /var/tmp holds onto stale files for 720 hours.

When I join a PC to the new domain it creates a new profile. How can I migrate (or whats an easy way) the local profile to this new domain profile?     Currently I am using standard Dvorak on Ubuntu 13.10 and Gnome 3.10. Unfortunately, writing Umlauts (ä,ö,ü) in German requires me to switch to QWERTY/QWERTZ frequently or forces me to not write those umlauts (which looks strange to German native speakers). Is there a way to use Dvorak Type 2, including the umlauts, but otherwise using the standard English layout on Ubuntu with Gnome? I'm a fast typer on standard English Dvorak and would like to avoid fully switching to German Dvorak as this would (at least temporarily) reduce my typing speed.

    Word 2010 is automatically cropping image being insterted like this: The million dollar question is why? I have this problem only in this particular section of this document. There is no such problem in another sections of document. The one possibility how to display whole area of image is to use floating layout like the first image in presented screenshot. But this solution has disadvantage that I have to manually format image positions after changes in text before.

  • iPhoto printing PDFs sideways

    When I print to PDF from iPhoto (7.1.5), my scans (which are all portrait) all end up sideways in the PDF file. I've searched high and low for some setting that will alter this. The only one that I could find that would plausibly affect this is the Layout menu item in the Print customisation view, but this has no effect. Even rotating the images doesn't change it. Why is iPhoto printing my PDFs sideways, and how do I get it to stop?

    Assuming the components like *.dll's, *.ocx's installed and registered on the clients there exists the possibility to place the *.exe and some related files on the fileserver. To start the application there are links on the client's desktops which runs the \fileserver\AppPath\exe. Would you agree with such a layout? What if 'the client' is a terminal-server and 'the clients' means a terminal-server-farm?

    I want to create a logo that for the two "o" characters uses a series of squiggly lines in the the shape of an "o". Sketch: I did this with Paint but I obviously want consistency with the squiggly lines and close to a circular layout. Why squiggly lines? Well, it's to reinforce the word itself being "loose".   • Creating a very detailed report using Excel and/or Access

    I have a database/spreadsheet of information that I need to make a very detailed report from. My knowledge on Access is quite limited so I started doing a mock up of the Report layout in Excel and made this: So from there, I need the information from the data base to be placed in the properly labeled cells. There are over 2500+ entries in the spreadsheet/database, so if creating a report that looks pretty spot on to the one above in access is doable, that might be an easier route.
