  • Queued WCF Service which processes every X seconds

    I need to create a service which can process queued requests on a configured time interval. For example go to the web and get financial data from a site the requires we limit requests to once per second. I am new to WCF and I am not sure if (1) WCF with MSMQ a proper choice for implementing this? and (2) if so what is the best mechanism for enforcing the interval? a thread wait? a timer (not sure how that would work).

  • Accessing current user personal certificate store within windows service

    I am working on an application which accesses a x.509 certificate from the current user store. This works fine when the application is run as an executable. However, when I try running the app as a windows service, it fails to find the certificate. I tried changing the LogOn property for the windowsservice console to set the right user, but that did not help. Is there any way I can access the particular user's (Administrator) certificate store? I am bound to use the certificate in the user store - else I can easily use the local machine store. Any help will be appreciated.

    I've been working a lot with PHP. But recently i was sent on a work wich use Java. In PHP i used to do a lot of Singleton object but this pattern has not the same signification in Java that it has in PHP. So i wanted to go for an utility class (a class with static method) but my chief doesn't like this kind of classes and ask me to go for services object. So my guess was that a service object is just a class with a constructor that implement some public methods... Am i right ?

  • receive xml file as a parameter to a .net web service

    My company is currently looking into bringing a new piece of third party software in for online ordering. The software does not handle pricing so they are requesting the pricing information from a web service. Their software is passing an XML file as a parameter, and expecting an XML file as a response. I would think that returning an XML file would be pretty straight forward, but I cannot think of a way to receive an XML file as a parameter. Has anyone done this, or am I missing something really obvious?

    Hi all! I generate *.hbm.xml mapping files and *.java file from the DB schema, with Hibernate tools. My question is, that is there any option, to generate service classes also? These are the classes where I implement the store(), find(), delete(), etc... methods. I know that for C# there are many solutions to generate almost everything. I'm looking for the same, but with Hibernate. Is there any? Thanks for every reply in advance!

    Ok I feel really dumb asking this but I seem to be missing something really simple here. I have the following code in a class in my service layer - public Items getItems(String category, float amount, String color, String type) The code reads from a database and returns the results - I plan on placing it in a jframe. Nice and simple. But no matter how I call it from the jframe I get errors in eclipse that the code is wrong - either that their are illegal modifiers or such. So obviously I am calling it completely wrong, so my stupid question is how do you call that method into a jframe? For example - if I try to call it this way: public Items getItems(); I get told that getItems is an illegal parameter. If I call this.. Items getItems(); I am told its undefined

    Hello, I'm trying to run LVL on my app but I'm getting this error when debugging on my phone: ERROR/LicenseChecker(29924): Could not bind to service. I tried on emulator too and I'm getting the same error, so I decided investigate on LicenseChecker.java and I changed: boolean bindResult = mContext.bindService( new Intent(ILicensingService.class.getName()), this, // ServiceConnection. Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE); to: boolean bindResult = mContext.bindService( new Intent("com.android.vending.licensing.ILicensingService"), this, // ServiceConnection.     I have a Windows Service created in Visual Studio 2005 in C#. I have a setup project and a ProjectInstaller class. I also have code to programmatically get the version from the AssemblyFileVersionAttribute. I need to figure out where I set the version that I've obtained (and where this code should go). I tried placing it in the InitializeComponent method on ProjectInstaller.Designer.cs and then appending the version to serviceInstaller1.DisplayName and serviceInstaller1.ServiceName. This didn't work and you're not supposed to modify the contents of this method. Any ideas?

    hi, i have a general design question. we have a fairly big data model that represents an clinical object, the object itself has 200+ child attributes in the hierarchy. and we have a SetObject operation, and a GetObject operation. my question is, best practice wise, would it make sense to use that single data model in both operations or different data model for each? Because the Get operation will return much more details than what's needed for Set. an example of what i mean: the data model has say ProviderId, and ProviderName attributes, in the Get operation, both the ProviderId, and ProviderName would need to be returned. However, in the Set operation, only the ProviderId is needed, and ProviderName is ignored by the service since system has that information already. In this case, if the Get and Set operations use the same data model, the ProviderName is exposed even for Set operation, does that confuse the consuming developer?

    I am working on a WCF Rest service for a iPhone application. I have a WebGet method which returns a “date time”. I am using following code [OperationContract] [WebGet(ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Wrapped, UriTemplate = "GetDate")] DateTime GetDate(); When I tried to call the method using Mozilla rest client I am able to get following result "/Date(1355116291037+0530)/" But the problem is when this method consume from the iPhone side we are getting another date time value( there is around 5:30 hours difference) . Any one have any idea regarding this issue,Please help me Thanks in advance

  • tc rules block traffic from some hosts at network

  • Load dll's from Environment Variable Path from a service

    We install Matlab Runtime on a machine, then we restart a .net windows service that invokes methods from the Matlab Runtime. The problem is that we receive TypeInitializationException errors until we restart windows. We think this happens because Environment Variables are not changed on services until restart and Matlab uses the %Path% variable to reference it's core DLL's. My question is, do you think I can change the %Path% variable so that Matlab will use it when referencing the core dll's for it's engine? Or is it possible to add a directory to the runtime DLL loading mechanism of .NET so that those Matlab core dll's would be referenced correctly without restarting the machine?   • Episerver Scheduled Job fails (scheduler service)

    Our scheduled jobs started failing since yesterday with the following error message: CustomUpdate.Execute - System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at System.Web.Security.Roles.GetRolesForUser(String username) at EPiServer.Security.PrincipalInfo.CreatePrincipal(String username) The scheduled job uses anonymous execution and logs in programmatically using the following call: if (PrincipalInfo.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name == string.Empty) { PrincipalInfo.CurrentPrincipal = PrincipalInfo.CreatePrincipal(ApplicationSettings.ScheduledJobUsername); } I have put in some more logging around PrincipalInfo.CreatePrincipal call which is in Episerver.Security and noticed that PrincipalInfo.CreatePrincipal calls System.Web.Security.Roles.GetRolesForUser(username) and Roles.GetRolesForUser(username) returns an empty string array. There were no changes code wise or on the server (updates, etc). I checked that the user name used to run the task is in the database and has roles associated with it. I checked that applicationname is set up correctly and is associated with the user If i run the job manually using the same user it executes with no issues (i know there is a difference between running the job manually and using the scheduler) I also tried creating a new user, that didn’t work either. Has anyone come across the same or similar issue? Any thoughts how to resolve this issue?

  • WCF service consuming passively issued SAML token

    What is the best way to pass an existing SAML token from a website already authenticated via a passive STS? We have built an Identity Provider which is issuing passive claims to the website for authentication. We have this working. Now we would like to add some WCF services into the mix - calling them from the context of the already authenticated web application. Ideally we would just like to pass the SAML token on without doing anything to it (i.e. adding new claims / re-signing). All of the examples I have seen require the ActAs sts implementation - but is this really necessary? This seems a bit bloated for what we want to achieve. I would have thought a simple implementation passing the bootstrap token into the channel - using the CreateChannelActingAs or CreateChannelWithIssuedToken mechanism (and setting ChannelFactory.Credentials.SupportInteractive = false) to call the WCF service with the correct binding (what would that be?) would have been enough. We are using the Fabrikam example code as reference, but as I say, think the ActAs functionality here is overkill for what we are trying to achieve.

  • Windows 2008 DHCP service fails - "...failed to see a directory server for authorization."

    I have a small environment running Windows 2008 R2 where the DHCP service on the domain controller fails every two weeks. The most-visible error is Event ID 1059 and the Event Viewer message is: "The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization." The setup features two domain controller and the usual services and roles (file, print, Exchange). Restarting the service fails for a variety of reasons. I've had the following messages at different times: "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation". "Unable to determine the DHCP Server version for the Server 192.168.x.x" "The DHCP service has detected that it is running on a DC and has no credentials configured for use with Dynamic DNS registrations initiated by the DHCP service." A reboot of the domain controller resolves the issue for ~2 weeks. The systems are virtualized and there are no network connectivity issues. Any ideas what's happening here?

"Apache -k restart" gives error "No installed service named "Apache2"; I have Apache httpd 2.2.22 on Windows, not running as a service (our product's uber-service starts httpd as a console app). I'm trying to get httpd to reload its configuration; Apache's Windows docs suggest httpd -k restart from any console window. When I do that, I get PS C:\apache\bin> .\httpd.exe -k restart [Mon Oct 29 14:06:56 2012] [error] (OS 2)The system cannot find the file specified. : No installed service named "Apache2.2". How do I convince it Apache's not running as a service?

  • How do I setup a systemd service to be started by a non root user as a user daemon?

    I just finished the install and setup process of systemd on my arch-linux system (2012.09.07). I uninstalled initscripts (and removed the configuration files). What I want to do is create a service that can be started and stopped by a non-root user. The service is to start a detached screen session running rtorrent. However I want every user on the system who has set this service to start (enabled) to have a particular instance started for them specifically. How would one go about doing this? I remember reading that systemd supports user instances of services, however I have been unable to find any information on how to set this up, or whether it relates to what I am looking for.   • How do I disable Windows Search Indexing Service while on battery on Windows 7?

    Since upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7, I've found laptop battery life is reduced. One issue is that the Windows Search Indexing Service is constantly running, even when on battery power. Using Resource Monitor shows it is often the top consumer of CPU time and top producer of disk activity. I imagine this is one of the primary reasons the battery is getting drained faster. I cannot find any options to tell Windows Search Indexing Service to not index while on battery power. The only solution seems to be to stop the service, and also disable the service (if you just stop it, it will restart itself after a while). Doing this gives me considerably more battery life, but it's a pain because I have to re-enable the service when plugged in again. Is there a better solution?

    I've search high and low and can't find an answer to this. I have two questions How do you create an array or collection in XAML. I've got an array I want to stick in there and bind to a combo box. My first idea was to put an ItemsControl in a resource dictionary, but the ItemsSource of a combo box expects IEnumerable so that didn't work. Here's what I've tried in my resource dictionary and neither works <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </ItemsControl> <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList2"> <ComboBoxItem>AL</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CA</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CN</ComboBoxItem> </ItemsControl> and here's how I bind to it <ComboBox SelectedValue="{Binding Path=State}" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource stateList2}}" > </ComboBox> EDIT: UPDATED I got this first part to work this way <col:ArrayList x:Key="stateList3"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </col:ArrayList> However, I'd rather not use an array list, I'd like to use a generic list so if anyone knows how please let me know. EDIT UPDATE: I guess XAML has very limited support for generics so maybe an array list is the best I can do for now, but I would still like help on the second question if anyone has an anser 2nd. I've tried referencing a merged resource dictionary in my XAML and had problems because under Window.resources I had more than just the dictionary so it required me to add x:Key. Once I add the key, the system can no longer find the items in my resource dictionary. I had to move the merged dictionary to Grid.Resources instead. Ideally I'd like to reference the merged dictionary in the app.xaml but I have the same problem Here's some sample code. This first part required an x:key to compile because I have converter and it complained that every item must have a key if there is more than one <UserControl.Resources> <win:BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="VisibilityConverter" /> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/ResourcesD.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </UserControl.Resources> I had to change it to this <UI:BaseStep.Resources> <win:BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="VisibilityConverter" /> </UI:BaseStep.Resources> <Grid> <Grid.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/ResourcesD.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Grid.Resources> </Grid> Thank you

    Hi everybody, I am building a WCF service as http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WCF/9StepsWCF.aspx#Beginner%20WCF%20FAQ%E2%80%99s and facing a trouble with X.509 certificate: when I debug, evething is OK. But when I pubish it to IIS (5.1, windowsXP SP3) I receive the error: **Cannot find the X.509 certificate using the following search criteria: StoreName 'My', StoreLocation 'CurrentUser', FindType 'FindBySubjectName', FindValue 'WCFServer'.** Thanks for any idea.
