  • Change CSS EMs to Percentage Automatically.

    I cheated on a small site I was working on and used a site builder (Web Dwarf by Virtual Mechanics) to save time. I didn't realize it at the time, but this builder specifies the width, height and positions using CSS EMs. Is there an automated tool out there that will read through the CSS and convert each EM to a percentage so it will display correctly on wide screens as well?     I understand that the "mm" suffix [in various GTK-associated C++ binding libraries] means "minus minus," but where exactly does it come from? I understand that there is a programming language called "C--," but if there were bindings (and I'm pretty sure I've seen some), they would be suffixed "--". TL;DR: Is there some page on gnu.org that explains the "mm" suffix in various C++ bindings or is it just a de facto standard adopted by the open source community with no reasoning behind it?

    Business services can be accessed from outside the application via XAI inbound service, or from within the application via scripting, Java, or info zones. Below is an example to what you can do with a business service wrapping an info zone.   Generally, a business service is specific to a page service program which references a maintenance object, that means one business service = one service program = one maintenance object. There have been quite a few threads in the forum around this topic where the business service is misconstrued to perform services only on a single object, for e.g. only for CILCSVAP - SA Page Maintenance, CILCPRMP - Premise Page Maintenance, CILCACCP - Account Page Maintenance, etc.   So what do you do when you want to retrieve some "non-persistent" field or information associated with some object/entity? Consider few business requirements: ·         Retrieve all the field activities associated to an account. ·         Retrieve the last bill date for an account. ·         Retrieve next bill date for an account.   It can be as simple as described below, for this post, we'll use the first scenario - Retrieve all the field activities associated to an account.   • IASA ITARC &ndash; Denver May 6th

    The Denver chapter of the International Association of Software Architects (IASA) is holding an IT Architect Regional Conference (ITARC) in Denver on May 6th. The speaker list for this conference is amazing. Paul Rayner, Dave McComb, Randy Kahle, Peter Provost, Randy Stafford, George Fairbanks – all great speakers, and from Colorado. Brandon Satrom (who also happens to be the president of the IASA Austin chapter) will also be speaking, as will some other heavy hitters (for example, Ted Farrell, Chief Architect and Senior VP of Oracle). This is an amazing line-up, and the conference is quite reasonably priced ($150 for IASA members until April 10th, including a catered lunch). I also have the privilege of being a presenter at this conference. If you’ve ever heard any of the previously named speakers, you know that they set the bar quite high. Sounds like I’m going to have to step up my game. What I get to talk about is really cool stuff. The company I work for – Colorado CustomWare – brought me on board nearly two years ago. To say there was some technical debt is somewhat… understated. Equally understated would be that management is committed to doing the right thing. Over the past two years, we’ve done significant architectural refactoring – including an effort that took the entire team offline for most of a month. We’ve reduced the application size by 50% without losing functionality. As you can imagine, this has reduced the complexity of the application, making development faster and less prone to bugs. We’ve made many other changes – moving to an agile process, training developers, moving towards a more OO architecture. The changes we’ve made reveal, in some ways, just how far afield we were.. and there are still more changes to be made. Amazingly enough, our leadership team is eager for me to share these experiences with other architects. I’m really looking forward to being able to do so.

The app always crashes at this part: assets.load("ui/defaultskin/defaultskin.json", Skin.class, new SkinLoader.SkinParameter("ui/defaultskin/defaultskin.atlas")); The files are the ones from the bitowl tutorial: http://bitowl.de/day6/ I guess Gdx.files.internal doesn't work on android, since the app crashed with this, too. He states that just because you CAN write more doesn't mean you SHOULD. Well, you don't have to tell me that twice. So to continue my rambling entry today, I'd suggest you read this post by Donal Daly on 10 steps to intelligent Social CRM for Sales. No seriously, read it. It's almost like a Groundswell Cliff Notes for sales people. I particularly love his third point. Of course I haven't "gotten" it yet, but I've got a whole life time, for crying out loud. Seriously, this is a great read and a fast one.
