• Passing multiple aruments to a UNIX shell script

  Hello all, I have the following (bash) shell script, that I would ideally use to kill multiple processes by name. #!/bin/bash kill `ps -A | grep $* | awk '{ print $1 }'` However, while this script works is one argument is passed: end chrome (the name of the script is end) it does not work if more than one argument is passed: $end chrome firefox grep: firefox: No such file or directory What is going on here? I thought the $* passes multiple arguments to the shell script in sequence. I'm not mistyping anything in my input - and I the programs I wan to kill (chrome and firefox) are open. Any help is appreciated.

• Basic PHP question for Drupal Views theming

  My PHP and programming knowledge is extremely basic, so this is probably a dumb question: I am theming a View in Drupal 6, and I want to add an id with a consecutive number to each item in the view (first item would have the id #item1, the second #item2, etc). I am customizing the style output (views-view-unformatted--MYVIEWNAME.tpl.php) and the row style output (views-view-fields--MYVIEWNAME.tpl.php), and I want to add a counter variable in the foreach loop in the style output tpl, and then use that variable in the row style output tpl, but the last one is not recognizing the variable. It does not give me any errors, but doesnt print the number. I understand this has probably something to do with variables visibility, how can I declare the counter variable in the style .tpl so I can the use it in the row style .tpl? Thank you

• Loading a DB table into nested dictionaries in Python

  Hi, I have a table in MySql DB which I want to load it to a dictionary in python. the table columns is as follows: id,url,tag,tagCount tagCount is the number of times that a tag has been repeated for a certain url. So in that case I need a nested dictionary, in other words a dictionary of dictionary, to load this table.   I am trying to send data to my jsp via:"xhr.send(projectCode);" but apparently the parameter is not received when I am trying to realise it with System.out.print it is a null displayed. so the story from the begining. my javascript function send the parameter to the jsp whitch construct an xml file and resend to the first one. this will reconstruct my second dropdownList with the xml code constructed and received. so the problem that the parameter dosent sent at all. What should I do.

  I'm querying an underlying PostgreSQL database using Pandas 0.8. Pandas is returning the DataFrame properly but the underlying timestamp column in my database is being returned as a generic "object" type in Pandas. As I would eventually like to seasonal normalization of my data I am curious as to how to convert this generic "object" column to something that is appropriate for analysis. • Find&Replace using Python - Binary file

  Hello, I'm attempting to do a "find and replace" in a file on a Mac OS X computer. Although it appears to work correctly. It seems that the file is somehow altered. The text editor that I use (Text Wrangler) is unable to even open the file once this is completed. Here is the code as I have it: import fileinput for line in fileinput.FileInput("testfile.txt",inplace=1): line = line.replace("newhost",host) print line, When I view the file from the terminal, it does say "testfile" may be a binary file. See it anyway? Is there a chance that this replace is corrupting the file? Do I have another option for this to work? I really appreciate the help.   I have three lists of words. I would like to generate a single list of all the combinations of words from the three lists. List 1: red green blue List 2: one two List 3: apple banana The final list would like like so: red one apple red two apple red one banana red two banana ... and so on Ideally I'd like to pass in three arrays and the routine return one array. I have done a simple loop like so: foreach $word1 (@list1){ foreach $word2 (@list2){ foreach $word3 (@list3){ print "$word1 $word2 $word3\n"; } } } However, this doesn't work if there's nothing in the second or third list (I may only want to iterate between one, two or three lists at a time - in other words, if I only supply two lists it should iterate between those two lists).

  I'm hoping people have some ideas to help solve this problem. I am developing a C# ASP.NET website and the client requires an online form that users will fill in and submit. OK, so far so good..... Imagine, say, a form that you fill in on paper - they normally have a distinctive look specific to the company and will be filed, quite possibly as a legally binding document. I need to have an online form that when submitted emails the client with something they can print out and will look exactly like their printed forms. As this is web based, I think the option of capturing a screenshot are out the question, so I'm wondering how best to approach this? Even if I just had a form that captures the data presented how I want, how could I translate this data into the view they want? Any ideas and suggestions greatly appreciated.
