  • Equivalent of describeType for Flex Component EVENTS

    - by Joshua
Using "introspection" In Flex I can say: var classInfo:XML=describeType(SomeObject); Which will list for me the Accessors, Methods And Variables. (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=usingas_8.html) But what is the equivalent to programmatically inspect all of an object's possible EVENTS? (NOT JUST the events for which event listeners have been set, but to somehow step through a list of all VALID EVENTS for which event listeners may POTENTIALLY be set -- I realize that such lists are readily available online, and that's great for cases when I know the object's type at design type, but I require some way to inspect any given displayobject programmatically at runtime, and determine what events, if any, are or may be associated with it.)

  • Best Practice - Validating Input In Simple GUI Application?

    - by Alex
I'm writing a GUI app with wxwidgets in C++ for one of my programming classes. We have to validate input and throw custom exceptions if it doesn't meet certain conditions. My question is, what is best practice when it comes to this? Should I write a seperate function that checks for errors, and have my event handler's call that function? Or should I do my error-checking in my event handlers? Or does it really matter? Thanks!

  • C# Reflection - Casting private Object field

    - by alhazen
I have the following classes: public class MyEventArgs : EventArgs { public object State; public MyEventArgs (object state) { this.State = state; } } public class MyClass { // ... public List<string> ErrorMessages { get { return errorMessages; } } } When I raise my event, I set 'State' of the MyEventArgs object to an object of type MyClass. I'm trying to retrieve ErrorMessages by reflection in my event handler: public static void OnEventEnded(object sender, EventArgs args) { Type type = args.GetType(); FieldInfo stateInfo = type.GetField("State"); PropertyInfo errorMessagesInfo = stateInfo.FieldType.GetProperty("ErrorMessages"); object errorMessages = errorMessagesInfo.GetValue(null, null); } But this returns errorMessagesInfo as null (even though stateInfo is not null). Is it possible to retrieve ErrorMessages ? Thank you

  • How can I modify a custom object in an ASP.NET FormView based on a button click?

    - by David
I have a FormView that modifies an instance of a custom class. The various form controls (TextBox, DropDownList etc.) are working fine. However, I want to include a Button that will modify the state of the DataItem based on some very simple logic. There is no form control which could control this change in a non-confusing way. So I tried adding a Button and modifying the state of the DataItem in the code-behind. But the problem I encounter is that the FormView's DataItem is null/nothing. From reading this SO question it seems the problem is that the item is not databound when the Button's Click event is fired. So, the question; Is it possible to get the DataItem for the FormView during a Button's Click event? and if not: what are my options for implementing this? Thanks in advance. Edit: I can include any code that might help

  • Generating Component SEF URLs in Joomla

    - by Jarrod
I have a custom Joomla component and a router for building my SEF URL's for use within the site, and everything is usually shiny - internally, all of my links look and act fantastic. I recently route a controller action that sends a list of links through email, and I've noticed that my URLs are coming out.... funky - hopefully someone can tell me why. Usually, my router generates an internal link that looks like this: http://localhost/Registry/calendar/265889635/Some-Long-Boring-Event However, when I send an email and preparing the same URL through the same router I get: http://localhost/Registry/Registry/component/calendar/569555803/Some-Long-Boring-Event Has anybody run into this issue before?

  • Click GEvent.addListener with jquery

    - by Jason
Created a google map with GMap2 and put pinpoints on there that open up a balloon with the address when the pinpoint is clicked. I would like users to be able to click text on the page itself and use jquery to open up the corresponding balloon. However I can't figure out the ID to use to call a jquery click event. Basically I've got a store listing down the left side and when user clicks store name I want it to open up the corresponding balloon. GEvent.addListener(marker_500, "click", function () { map.openInfoWindowHtml(point, myHtml); } Any idea what element tied to this click event is? Tried $("#marker_500").click(); And that doesn't work. Also tried alerting $(this).attr('id'); inside the click function and that is undefined. thanks jason

  • Linking IronPython to WPF

    - by DonnyD
I just installed VS2010 and the great new IronPython Tools extension. Currently this extension doesn't yet generate event handlers in code upon double-clicking wpf visual controls. Is there anyone that can provide or point me to an example as to how to code wpf event handlers manually in python. I've had no luck finding any and I am new to visual studio. Upon generating a new ipython wpf project the auto-generated code is: import clr clr.AddReference('PresentationFramework') from System.Windows.Markup import XamlReader from System.Windows import Application from System.IO import FileStream, FileMode app = Application() app.Run(XamlReader.Load(FileStream('WpfApplication7.xaml', FileMode.Open))) and the XAML is: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="WpfApplication7" Height="300" Width="300"> <Button>Click Me</Button> </Window> Any help would be appreciated.

  • MouseLeftButtonDown not recognized by a ListBox ??

    - by Flo
Hello everybody, I'm encountering a huge problem, I have tried everything I could, but I didn't find any solution. I have a listBox, with a DataTemplate. I want to use the events MouseLeftButtonDown and MouseLeftButtonUp to check the item selected is the same the user clicked on. The problem is the event MouseLeftButtonUp is recognized but not the event MouseLeftButtonDown. Part of my XAML code : < ListBox Grid.Row="1" MouseLeftButtonDown="listBox_Faits_MouseLeftButtonDown" MouseLeftButtonUp="listBox_Faits_MouseLeftButtonUp" The code behind : private void listBox_Faits_MouseLeftButtonUp(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { ... } private void listBox_Faits_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { ... } Is anyone know why ? Thanks you, Regards, Flo

  • WPF ItemsControl - how to know when the items finished loading, so that I can focus the first one?

    - by Tomáš Kafka
Hi everyone, I have an ItemsControl in my View, that is bound to an ObservableCollection from ViewModel. The collection is filled, and afterwards an event from VM to view is raised (think search results and SearchFinished event). I would like to move keyboard focus to the first item in an ItemsControl, but when I do it in View's code-behind when handling SearchFinished, the items are not yet rendered (the collection is filled already, but wpf's rendering is asynchronous and didn't happen yet), so there is nothing to focus (Focus() needs to have the items' visual tree already constructed). I wanted to do (myItemsControl.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromIndex(0) as UIElement).Focus();, but as the 0th item is not yet loaded, ContainerFromIndex(0) returns null. I tried delaying it with Dispatcher.BeginInvoke... with low priority, but that is dependent on exact timing and usually doesn't work. How can I wait until the first item in ItemsControl is Loaded?

  • How to debug CSS/Javascript hover issues

    - by Jason Creighton
I often find myself wanting to debug CSS layout issues that involve DOM changes caused by Javascript in reaction to a hover event or different CSS rules applying due to the :hover selector. Normally, I'd use Firebug to inspect the element that's giving me trouble and see what its CSS properties were, and where those properties come from. However, when hovering is involved, it becomes impossible, because as soon as you move your mouse down to the Firebug panel, the elements you're interested in are no longer hovered, the CSS rules that apply are different, and (in the case of JS hovers) the DOM is changed. Is there any way I can "freeze" the state of the DOM and application of :hover in order to inspect the DOM as it was during a hover event? Any other ideas on how to debug this sort of issue are welcome, of course.

  • Add child to scene from within a class.

    - by Fecal Brunch
    Hi, I'm new to flash in general and have been writing a program with two classes that extend MovieClip (Stems and Star). I need to create a new Stems object as a child of the scene when the user stops dragging a Star object, but do not know how to reference the scene from within the Star class's code. I've tried passing the scene into the constructor of the Star and doing sometihng like: this.scene.addChild (new Stems ()); But apparently that's not how to do it... Below is the code for Stems and Stars, any advice would be appreciated greatly. package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.*; import flash.utils.Timer; public class Stems extends MovieClip { public const centreX=1026/2; public const centreY=600/2; public var isFlowing:Boolean; public var flowerType:Number; public const outerLimit=210; public const innerLimit=100; public function Stems(fType:Number) { this.isFlowing=false; this.scaleX=this.scaleY= .0007* distanceFromCentre(this.x, this.y); this.setXY(); trace(distanceFromCentre(this.x, this.y)); if (fType==2) { gotoAndStop("Aplant"); } } public function distanceFromCentre(X:Number, Y:Number):int { return (Math.sqrt((X-centreX)*(X-centreX)+(Y-centreY)*(Y-centreY))); } public function rotateAwayFromCentre():void { var theX:int=centreX-this.x; var theY:int = (centreY - this.y) * -1; var angle = Math.atan(theY/theX)/(Math.PI/180); if (theX<0) { angle+=180; } if (theX>=0&&theY<0) { angle+=360; } this.rotation = ((angle*-1) + 90)+180; } public function setXY() { do { var tempX=Math.random()*centreX*2; var tempY=Math.random()*centreY*2; } while (distanceFromCentre (tempX, tempY)>this.outerLimit || distanceFromCentre (tempX, tempY)<this.innerLimit); this.x=tempX; this.y=tempY; rotateAwayFromCentre(); } public function getFlowerType():Number { return this.flowerType; } } } package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.*; import flash.utils.Timer; public class Star extends MovieClip { public const sWide=1026; public const sTall=600; public var startingX:Number; public var startingY:Number; public var starColor:Number; public var flicker:Timer; public var canUpdatePos:Boolean=true; public const innerLimit=280; public function Star(color:Number, basefl:Number, factorial:Number) { this.setXY(); this.starColor=color; this.flicker = new Timer (basefl + factorial * (Math.ceil(100* Math.random ()))); this.flicker.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, this.tick); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, this.hover); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, this.drop); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, this.drag); this.addChild (new Stems (2)); this.flicker.start(); this.updateAnimation(0, false); } public function distanceOK(X:Number, Y:Number):Boolean { if (Math.sqrt((X-(sWide/2))*(X-(sWide/2))+(Y-(sTall/2))*(Y-(sTall/2)))>innerLimit) { return true; } else { return false; } } public function setXY() { do { var tempX=this.x=Math.random()*sWide; var tempY=this.y=Math.random()*sTall; } while (distanceOK (tempX, tempY)==false); this.startingX=tempX; this.startingY=tempY; } public function tick(event:TimerEvent) { if (this.canUpdatePos) { this.setXY(); } this.updateAnimation(0, false); this.updateAnimation(this.starColor, false); } public function updateAnimation(color:Number, bright:Boolean) { var brightStr:String; if (bright) { brightStr="bright"; } else { brightStr="low"; } switch (color) { case 0 : this.gotoAndStop("none"); break; case 1 : this.gotoAndStop("N" + brightStr); break; case 2 : this.gotoAndStop("A" + brightStr); break; case 3 : this.gotoAndStop("F" + brightStr); break; case 4 : this.gotoAndStop("E" + brightStr); break; case 5 : this.gotoAndStop("S" + brightStr); break; } } public function hover(event:MouseEvent):void { this.updateAnimation(this.starColor, true); this.canUpdatePos=false; } public function drop(event:MouseEvent):void { this.stopDrag(); this.x=this.startingX; this.y=this.startingY; this.updateAnimation(0, false); this.canUpdatePos=true; } public function drag(event:MouseEvent):void { this.startDrag(false); this.canUpdatePos=false; } } }

  • Get the caret position when losing focus in WPF

    - by DrLazer
I have two textbox's. I have an event setup for the "onLostFocus" of the textbox's. If i finish typing a word into both boxes one after the other all is well. At the point where i click back on the first textbox i want to click halfway through the word (perfectly resonable thing for a user to do). When the onLostFocus event fires here is my code : void tbox_LostFocus(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { IInputElement focusedelement = FocusManager.GetFocusedElement(this); if (focusedelement is TextBox) { TextBox focusedTextBox = focusedelement as TextBox; int focusIndex = m_commandsStacker.Children.IndexOf(focusedTextBox); int caretIndex = focusedTextBox.CaretIndex; The caret index is 0. At that point I refresh the whole form and set parameters and all other kinds of whizzery, storing the texbox index and caret position to put everything back the same. Why does it return 0 and not the position where the caret should be halfway between the word?

  • Object drag delay issue

    - by Johnny Darvall
    I have this code that drags stuff around perfectly in IE - however in firefox the onmousedown-drag of the object does not immediately drag but shows the no-entry cursor and then after onmouseup the object drags around freely. The object does stop draging on the next onmouseup. The object should only drag in the onmousdown state, while the onmousup call should cancel the drag by making j_OK=0. I think it may have something to do with the image inside... the object: <em style=position:absolute;left:0;top:0;width:32;height:32;display:block> < img src=abc.gif onmousedown=P_MV(this.parentNode) style=position:absolute;left:0;top:0;width:inherit> </em> function P_MV(t) { p_E=t j_oy=parseInt(p_E.style.top) j_ox=parseInt(p_E.style.left) j_OK=1 document.onselectstart=function(){return false} document.onmousemove=P_MVy } function P_MVy(e) { if(j_OK) { p_E.style.top=(j_FF?e.clientY:event.clientY)-j_y+j_oy p_E.style.left=(j_FF?e.clientX:event.clientX)-j_x+j_ox } return false }

  • Ordering the calling of asynchronous methods in c#

    - by Peter Kelly
Hi, Say I have 4 classes ControllerClass MethodClass1 MethodClass2 MethodClass3 and each MethodClass has an asynchronous method DoStuff() and each has a CompletedEvent. The ControllerClass is responsible for invoking the 3 asynchronous methods on the 3 MethodClasses in a particular order. So ControllerClass invokes MethodClass1.DoStuff() and subscribes to MethodClass1.CompletedEvent. When that event is fired, ControllerClass invokes MethodClass2.DoStuff() and subscribes to MethodClass2.CompletedEvent. When that event is fired, the ControllerClass invokes MethodClass3.DoStuff() Is there a best practice for a situation like this? Is this bad design? I believe it is because I am finding it hard to unit test (a sure sign) It is not easy to change the order I have an uneasy, code-smell feeling about it What are the alternatives in a situation like this?

  • Would a Centralized Blogging Service Work?

    - by viatropos
If there's a better place to ask this, please let me know. Every time I build a new website/blog/shopping-cart/etc., I keep trying to do the following: Extract out common functionality into reusable code (Rubygems and jQuery plugins mostly) If possible, convert that gem into a small service so I never have to deal with a database for the objects involved (by service, I mean something lean and mean, usually built with the Sinatra Web Framework with a few core models. My assumption is, if I can remove dependencies on local databases, that will make it easier and more scalable in the long run (scalable in terms of reusability and manageability, not necessarily database/performance). I'm not sure if that's a good or bad assumption yet. What do you think? I've made this assumption because of the following reason: Most serious database/model functionality has been built on the internet somewhere. Just to name a few: Social Network API: Facebook Messaging API: Twitter Mailing API: Google Event API: Eventbrite Shopping API: Shopify Comment API: Disqus Form API: Wufoo Image API: Picasa Video API: Youtube ... Each of those things are fairly complicated to build from scratch and to make as optimized, simple, and easy to use as those companies have. So if I build an app that shows pictures (picasa) on an Event page (eventbrite), and you can see who joined the event (facebook events), and send them emails (google apps api), and have them fill out monthly surveys (wufoo), and watch a video when they're done (youtube), all integrated into a custom, easy to use website, and I can do that without ever creating a local database, is that a good thing? I ask because there's two things missing from the puzzle that keep forcing me to create that local database: Post API RESTful/Pretty Url API While there's plenty of Blogging systems and APIs for them, there is no one place where you can just write content and have it part of some massive thing. For every app, I have to use code for creating pretty/restful urls, and that saves posts. But it seems like that should be a service! Question is, is that the main point of a website? Will everyone always need "their own blog"? Why not just have a profile and write lots of content on an established platform like StackOverflow or Facebook?

  • How to detect when a tab is focused or not in Chrome with Javascript?

    - by LLer
I need to know if the user is currently viewing the current tab or not in Google Chrome. I tried to use the events blur and focus binded to the window, but only the blur seems to be working. window.addEventListener('focus', function() { document.title = 'focused'; }); window.addEventListener('blur', function() { document.title = 'not focused'; }); The focus event works weird, only sometimes. If I switch to another tab and back, focus event won't activate. But if I click on the address bar and then back on the page, it will. Or if I switch to another program and then back to Chrome it will activate if the tab is currently focused.

  • How to programatically record the start and end of an MVC FileResult for logging of incomplete downl

    - by Richard
Hi, I have been investigating how My ASP.NET MVC application can log unsuccessful / incomplete downloads. I have a controller handling the file requests which currently returns a FileResult. What I need to record is the IPAddress, filename and when the download started, then the same data and when it completed. I have looked at intercepting the request start and end with an HttpModule and also IIS7 failed request tracing but am not sure which route would be best and have this feeling that maybe I am missing an obvious answer to the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any alternatives as this seems like something many people would want to know from their web server? Thanks for your help

  • Scala class to implement two Java Interfaces - how?

    - by puudeli
Hi, I have just started learning Scala and I'm now wondering how I could implement two different Java interfaces with one Scala class? Let's say I have the following interfaces written in Java public interface EventRecorder { public void abstract record(Event event); } public interface TransactionCapable { public void abstract commit(); } But a Scala class can extend only one class at a time. How can I have a Scala class that could fulfill both contracts? Do I have to map those interfaces into traits? Note, my Scala classes would be used from Java as I am trying to inject new functionality written in Scala into an existing Java application. And the existing framework expects that both interface contracts are fulfilled.

  • How to implement buffering with timeout in RX

    - by Gaspar Nagy
I need to implement an event processing, that is done delayed when there are no new events arriving for a certain period. (I have to queue up a parsing task when the text buffer changed, but I don't want to start the parsing when the user is still typing.) I'm new in RX, but as far as I see, I would need a combination of BufferWithTime and the Timeout methods. I imagine this to be working like this: it buffers the events until they are received regularly within a specified time period between the subsequent events. If there is a gap in the event flow (longer than the timespan) it should return propagate the events buffered so far. Having a look at how Buffer and Timeout is implemented, I could probably implement my BufferWithTimeout method (if everyone have one, please share with me), but I wonder if this can be achieved just by combining the existing methods. Any ideas?
