• 12.04/ RecordMyDesktop the sound isnt working...... Why?

  im unable to record sound using this app. the check box is checked for the sound, it just doesnt record sound. idk what to do. i have ubuntu 12.04 64bit. plus nvidia drivers dont work what so ever. so im just using the default ubuntu drivers. i looked up the site for this app. they dont give an instructions on sound for this program. any help me please??? the microphone sound input works with it. but it cant record system sounds.

And each time I'm trying to install beta or/and unstable versions then I run into the same problem: The following packages will be REMOVED google-chrome-stable The following NEW packages will be installed google-chrome-beta 0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 34.5 MB of archives. After this operation, 3,109 kB of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? I need to remove the first version before installing another. How can I install stable and beta (and maybe unstable as well) next to each other?

• Ways to find a tutor for 1st year University student

  I tried searching here (and SO) without much luck. I also stared at the yellow box to the right and think this question is relatively on topic and can be answered. A co-worker asked me if I had any suggestions for how to find a tutor for his son. In this specific case, it was for Eclipse and Java, but it got me thinking about good general strategies one could use in situations like this. He preferred a local 1-to-1, but I suppose online might be a reasonable (or perhaps more likely) alternative. Any suggested strategies?

• Update installed on netbook.. now sidebar icons have disappeared! :oS

  hope someone can help. I am not extremely computer literate and my brother installed Ubuntu on my Acer net book when my windows crashed irretrievably . I recently (day before yesterday) had a box come up saying an update (i think it was 10 or 11 .something) i followed the instructions to download and install it and now, all my side bar icons have disappeared. I happened upon an Internet connection by chance and have no idea whatsoever how to get them back. This is quite probably a really stupid question and a really easy fix but as i said earlier, i am pretty much a novice, very far from a computer expert! Thanx in advance :o)

• Looking for bug tracking software

  I'm looking for a bug/issue tracking system that can: Integrate with lots of other services. Basecamp, Beanstalk, etc. Integrate popular CMSs, such as WordPress, so the client can enter a ticket from the system that is familiar to them and not have one more login to worry about. Generate reports for my own purposes. Bonus if there's an iPhone app. Doesn't require additional development on my end (I have plenty of money and no time). I've already looked into Lighthouse and ZenDesk -- both are solid offerings -- but don't see what I need out of the box. I'd have to build CMS plug-ins. And I've looked through WP plug-ins for bug tracking software, but nothing I've found integrates with these products. Anyone know of something that meets these requirements without additional development, or am I stuck putting my business on hold to get this piece in place myself?

• Embeding a generic google search with autocomplete - not a custom site search

  Most people's home page is google.com. My homepage is just a custom html page hosted on my computer. I do this because I am a web developer, and I have several projects that I work on a one time, so I like to have quick links to all of them. On that page I usually just have a Link to google.com for when I want to search. But below all of my quick links, I want to add a google search box (with Autocompletions). I first used a simple iframe to embed google.com into the page, but then my search results were confined to that iframe. I wanted to search for something, then my results would open in a new tab. I then came across this code snippet but it doesn't have Autocompletions: http://www.refactory.org/s/google_search/view/2 How can I add Autocompletions to this? Or is there a better way of doing it? • Why I LOVE Dell

  We recently ordered a laptop for an employee.  It was delivered yesterday and we realized it had no web cam and wasn’t the 1080p resolution.  He wasn’t happy. So, this morning, I sent an e-mail to our rep and asked him what we could do.  Within an hour or two, he called me, arranged a replacement laptop with the corrected specs, set up a return and had everything arranged and charged us only for the difference.  No pain, no silly questions.  We won’t loose use of the laptop either.  The return and the new laptop will overlap so that we can just pack up the old laptop in the box of the new one, slap some labels on and away we go. • How do I get one monitor on top of the other?

  I'm using a laptop and a monitor (wall mounted) over my laptop. I would like to reflect this physical hardware setup in my software screen setup. So that I can move my mouse upward, out of my laptop screen and use the monitor on the wall. I have been searching for a solution for a while, and I hope somone can help me out. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 "out of the box". Side by side screen setups works just fine, over/under is doesn't work.

• Ubuntu Desktop on PC as an IPv6 router?

  I have a DELL PC with Ubuntu 12.10 and a pandaboard running the latest linaro ubuntu 12.08. The Ethernet on the panda board is reporting 'no ipv6 router present' regardless of what router I connect (they are all probably not ipv6). I can connect via a cross-over Ethernet cable the pandaboard to the DELL PC. Can I setup the DELL PC to act as an IPv6 router. the PC has a wireless connect to our router/ADSL box. I would Really appreciate some help here so if you have an alternative please suggest it.

• How do I install Adobe Acrobat Pro From Web Premium CS4,....?

  I am Running the new Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2, and am looking to install Adobe Acrobat Pro from My CS4 Web Premium CD. Whenever I try and install the setup.exe I get the following error: Internal Error - invalid parameters recieved. in a Wine Program Crash box. I am running wine 1.5 and have tried 1.4 also. I have used winetricks and PlayOnLinux, and cannot get it to install with either program. Any help would be appreciated,.... Also If I cant get it installed does anyone know any programs that can link .PDF files to MySql databases in Linux ,....? I really need this to be able to host some web forms for work. • Testing what is happening inside your BizTalk solution

  As BizTalk developers we all know that one of the common challenges is how to test your BizTalk solution once it is deployed to BizTalk. Hopefully most of us are using the BizUnit framework for testing, but we still have the limitation that it's a very Black Box test. I have put together a sample and video to show a technique where I'm using the Logging Framework from the BizTalk CAT Team at Microsoft and where by BizUnit test is able to make assertions against the instrumentation going through the framework. This means that I can test for things happening such as the fact a component was executed or which branch of an orchestration was executed by simply using my normal instrumented code. • How to get out of dependency hell

  I am doing this from memory from work. Basically, I have libjpeg-turbo8 installed. But I have libjpeg-turbo8:i386 installed at version xxx4.4 and libjpeg-turbo8:amd64 installed at version xxx4.3. I am not sure how this mismatch happened. I believe that 4.3 is the right version, so I would like to roll the 32 bit version back. apt-get install libjpeg-turbo8:i386xxxxxx4.3 did not work (as it was still complaining that it couldnt do anything because of the mismatch). Basically, I cant do anything with apt-get because this mismatch is causing dependency hell. What is the proper way to resolve this. The box is 64 bit 12.04.

• Decent FREE Web Based FTP Alternatives?

  Like the subject mentions, I'm looking for a free FTP Alternative that's web based. What I need is the ability to grant people like our marketing team the ability to upload marketing images and instantly have those images show up in ourdomain.com/images/newimage.jpg. I have found plenty of excellent file sharing programs that are essentially drop box and sharepoint alternatives but have yet to find an FTP Alternative. Also ideally multiple account authentication would be great. If anyone is familiar with cPanel I'm essentially looking for their File Manager or something very similar to it (obviously stand alone and preferably free). Does anybody know if anything like this exists?

  I am going to buy Logitech C510 HD webcam and I just checked on other questions here on AskUbuntu that it works out of the box with cheese. Jorge's response also confirm this and I feel confident buying it now. My question is can it be limited in any functionality that I would like to do with it? I would like it to be used with everything - Skype, Gtalk video chat, Facebook, Youtube etc. Also this may sound lame but I need to know whether I could record or do a video call in lesser resolution video (its a 720p one)?   It is a bit ironic, yesterday I answered a question related to this topic that was marked to be good and today I'm the one who asks. These are my thoughts and a question: Also let's agree on the terms: QA is a set of activities that defines and implements processes during SW development. The common tool is the process audit. However, my colleague at work agrees with the opinion that reviews and inspections are also quality assurance tools, although most sources classify them as quality control. I would say both sides are partially right: during inspections, we evaluate a physical product (clearly QC) but we see it as a white box so we can check its compliance with set processes (QA). Do you think it is the reason of the dichotomy among the authors? I know it is more like an academic question but it deserves the answer :)

  We're running IIS 6 on a WinServer2k3 box and we're having some trouble with the following problem: E-mails were sent out to users asking them to go to the following URL: alias.contoso.com/directory2/view.aspx?queryparam1=no&queryparam2=blue However, the URLS are actually supposed to be: server.contoso.com/directory2/view.aspx?queryparam1=no&queryparam2=blue It's too late to recall all of the e-mails, and we'd like to redirect traffic to make this as seamless as possible for our users. The real problem here is that the server (server.contoso.com) is hosting the alias (alias.contoso.com) as a redirect thusly, and the existing redirect we need to keep functional: Default Web Site (server.contoso.com) --Directory1 --Directory2 --Directory3 Redirection to Directory3 (alias.contoso.com) --Essentially alias.contoso.com will take the user to server.contoso.com/Directory3 Is there any way to host a separate redirect inside of the existing redirect? We need to keep alias.contoso.com taking the user to server.contoso.com/Directory3 but also make alias.contoso.com/directory2/view.aspx?queryparam1=no&queryparam2=blue point to server.contoso.com/directory2/view.aspx?queryparam1=no&queryparam2=blue Any tips? Is this even possible?

• after upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10, no keyboard, cannot login

  Hello, just did upgrade from kubuntu 10.04 to 10.10.. after all done and reboot, when the login box shows up, my keyboard and laptop pad ( mouse ) dosn't work, (plugged in the usb mouse, it works sometimes) but never keyboard. i went to recovery , the boot hung up when it says : [ 17.704053] EXT4-fs (sda9): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode Begin: Running /scripts/local-bottom ... Done. Done. Begin: Running /scripts/init-bottom ... Done. stuck here. nothing works except ctrl+alt+del i tried booting from livecd and update-grub, also tried booting manually from grub command line, everytime it stuck at lines above .. so it's not grub problem . how to solve this ? if it is important, i have ATI mobility radeon HD 5470 card .

• Trick Ubuntu into resolving a domain name locally

  I have an Ubuntu box that I use for all sorts of things. One thing I really want to do is redirect a sub domain to a local script. For example thisbit.example.com should actually show the content from localhost/~USER/FAKE.thisbit.example.com/ which is a folder that Apache is running for me which contains a very simple PHP script which implements an offline version of a server script that I am testing against. But example.com should continue to behave normally as should notthisbit.example.com etc. Ideally I need to be able to switch from testing to live with minimal fuss when the time comes.

There's only one strategy in the game - deciding how efficiently spend point on enhancement (see formulas). • what is the easiest way to make a hitbox that rotates with it's texture

  In xna when you have a sprite that doesnt rotate it's very easy to get the four corner of a sprite to make a hitbox, but when you do a rotation the points get moved and I assume there is some kind of math that I can use to aquire them. I am using the four points to draw a rectangle that visually represents the hitboxes. I have seen some per-pixel collission examples but I can forsee they would be hard to draw a box/'convex hull' around. I have also seen physics like farseer but I'm not sure if there is a quick tutorial to do what I want. What do you guys think is the best approach becuase I am looking to complete this work by the end of the week.

  Could someone please let me know where I might find resources for creating MSM files? While I am able to create MSI files using InstallShield, it seems that Visual Studio no longer supports Merge Module Projects, judging by the link below and the screenshot of my version of Visual Studio 2013 - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/z6z02ts5(v=vs.80).aspx To create a new merge module project: On the File menu, point to Add, then click New Project. In the resulting Add New Project dialog box, in the Project types pane, open the Other Project Types node and select Setup and Deployment Projects.
