• Passing around a SqlConnection

  I have created a TransactionScope and within the scope various items are created and updated in the database. During this process I make a lot of calls to the database. Originally I opened a SqlConnection in the beginning of the TransactionScope and passed it around to any function that made a DB call then I closed the connection after all the calls are made and before the transaction commits. Is it better to do this or to open and close a connection for each call?

• How to remove "Standard Error" column from xtable() output of an lm on R/RSweave/LaTeX

  I'm currently doing some data analysis on population data, so reporting the standard errors in the tables of parameter coefficients just doesn't really make statistical sense. I've done a fair bit of searching and can't find any way to customize the xtable output to remove it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?   Does anyone know the address of the default RHEL repository? We rent a server that is hosted by a third-party and one of our users seems to have "deleted" a lot of the RHN packages from our box; included was the rhn-yum-plugin.   A certain function in my controller takes a lot of time to process (heavy db work) . So when my user clicks on "submit" on the form he has to wait for the process to complete which is quite long. Is there any way that on "submitting", the user is redirected to the next view without any delay while the processing continues in the back-end without making the user wait ? Thanks & Cheers !

  Currently I am doing the profiling to a piece of code. During the profiling, I discovered that this very method call, Class<T>.isAssignableFrom(Class<?> cls) takes up to quite amount of the entire time. Because this is a method from reflection, it takes a lot of time compared to normal keywords or method calls. I am wondering if there are some good alternatives for this method calls?

• Default App Icon not appearing in iOS Simulator

  I have searched quite a lot for an answer to this problem. If I have a general application, HelloWorld, and create an interface and then go to test it, then click on the Home button, not even the default grey/white icon is there like it's supposed to be. Anyone have any ideas why? I've even tried specifying a custom icon in the Info.plist file, but still nothing... I've got the latest version of Xcode and the SDK as well. (3.25 - 4.2)

• Do really need a count lock on Multi threads with one CPU core?

  If i have some code looks like this(Please ignore the syntax, i want to understand it without a specified language): count = 0 def countDown(): count += 1 if __name__ == '__main__': thread1(countDown) thread2(countDown) thread3(countDown) Here i have a CPU with only one core, do i really need a lock to the variable count in case of it could be over-written by other threads.   Hi A certain EndPoint in a web service is not likely to change a lot, also it had a problem which we worked around by putting a static wsdl to the whole web service like this <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" httpGetUrl="" externalMetadataLocation="http://IP:8250/wsdl.xml"/> Now I want the rest of end points to have a wsdl dynamically created, and one end point which require a static WSDL. I think this is impossible because there is one WSDL per WCF service.

• udp server unable to transmit data
