• Best practice for managing dynamic HTML modules?

  I've been building web apps that add and remove lots of dynamic content and even structure within the page, and I'm not impressed by the method I'm using to do it. When I want to add a section or module into a position in the interface, I'm storing the html in the code, and I don't like that: if (rank == "moderator") { $("#header").append('<div class="mod_controls">' + // content, using + to implement line breaks '</div>'); } This seems like such a bad programming practice.. There must be a better way. I thought of building a function to convert a JSON structure to html, but it seems like overkill. • Lenovo V570 CPU fan running constantly, CPU core 1 running over 90%!

  I have seen that a lot of people are having this same issue. I am running a Lenovo V570 i5 4 core, 6 gigs of ram, and am running 11.10 Onieric Ocelot. On my system monitor graph it shows CPU at 20%, when I open the monitor it shows core #1 at around 90%, the other cores fluctuate at or below 5-12% if even. Now this seems like a really terrible balance of power between the cores, especially with so much stress on one core only, when these things are designed to work with 4 cores and not at such high temps. My current readings say 64 degrees Celsius, this does not seem normal for any cpu, and I am seriously considering, working on my windows7 partition until I see a real solution to this issue or upgrading to 12.04 right away when it comes out... I have seen countless things saying it has something to do with the Kernel, the kernel on mine is the same as when I upgraded, I really do not like messing with it, as when I had 11.04, I did tinker with it due to the freeze issues I was having, and that just made worse issues. I like this version 11.10 and would like to keep it for a while, but without the fear that my core is going to fry! So any help would be much appreciated! I did try changing a couple things in ACPI, and restarting this did not help, and here I am. I tried one thing prior to that that was listed under a different computer brand, but it would not do a make on the file. I really need help with this, I rely on this computer for a lot of things, and love this OS! Please help so I do not need to resort to my Microsoft partition! PLEASE! Latest stable Ubuntu - inbuilt bluetooth module. Hp Probook 6470b. UPDATE Running sixad via: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:falk-t-j/qtsixa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install sixad Then: sudo sixpair sixad --start And turning off bluetooth to disconnect the PS3 controller and ctrl c the terminal means bluetooth can't be reactivated. Even after a reboot. Help is appreciated! I'm very new to Ubuntu so be gentle. UPDATE 2 Reinstalling bluez, fixes it...

  In the Google Analytics ecommerce tracing script you must provide for every item and SKU code. I have this code for every product I'm selling and up until now I have always provided it in the _addItem method. But when reviewing that data in the ecommerce module of Google Analytics, I have no real, no readable data about my SKU sales. I know what product has been sold, due to the product name I provide. But when clicking through to the SKU-level, I know nothing more, since all I can see there are SKU codes. Is it possible and wise to replace the SKU code with the following template? "product-name colour-name size-name" This way, it should still be a unique field, but more readable afterwards.

• Migrating from GlassFish 2.x to 3.1.x

  With clustering now available in GlassFish since version 3.1 (our Spring 2011 release), a good number of folks have been looking at migrating their existing GlassFish 2.x-based clustered environments to a more recent version to take advantage of Java EE 6, our modular design, improved SSH-based provisioning and enhanced HA performance. The GlassFish documentation set is quite extensive and has a dedicated Upgrade Guide. It obviously lists a number of small changes such as file layout on disk (mostly due to modularity), some option changes (grizzly, shoal), the removal of node agents (using SSH instead), new JPA default provider name, etc... There is even a migration tool (glassfish/bin/asupgrade) to upgrade existing domains. But really the only thing you need to know is that each module in GlassFish 3 and beyond is responsible for doing its part of the upgrade job which means that the migration is as simple as copying a 2.x domain directory to the domains/ directory and starting the server with asadmin start-domain --upgrade. Binary-compatible products eligible for such upgrades include Sun Java System Application Server 9.1 Update 2 as well as version 2.1 and 2.1.1 of Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server.

  Note: this question is distinct from "How to disable automatically connecting to WiFi?", as I do not wish to disable automatic WiFi connection in general. Problem: The Ubuntu WiFi module connects automatically in priority with WiFi networks without a password, even if there is a already known password-protected WiFi network nearby. Worse, most of the times these "unprotected" networks are in fact hotspots that require authentification from the browser. Example: I am at home, and most of the times my Ubuntu laptop will connect by itself to a nearby hotspot instead of choosing my local ADSL box (password-protected, with a password that is already known by the computer). I then have to select my own WiFi network manually. Is there a way to disable automatic connection to /all/ hotspots ?

• How to replace nss with new version 11.10 64bit

  I need a specific version of NSS 3.12.4. I have a simple java crypto (Sun-pkcs11) test and it works with the default nss setup from Ubuntu 11. (pointing to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu where all the libnss*.so files live) But when I point specifically to the custom 3.12.4 lib folder, it doesn't work. The only way to get it to work is to set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point to the new folder. So what is the preferred way to 'swap in' a new nss module? Do I need to overwrite any matching .so files in /usr/lib and /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu? Should I use an install command? Point is, I don't think I should have to use LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

• Which free PHP based forum is the easiest to extend or customize? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Which Content Management System (CMS) should I use? I am looking to start a new forum, with a traditional forum layout (like webhostingtalk, for example). In this space, I know phpBB and SMF are strong contenders. I do not know for sure the names of other great forum software that might exist... My most important need is that it should be easy to modify the display area, at the least, without having to dig too much into the core. Drupal excels in this area with its templating system, but the forum module doesn't look like the forum interface most people are used to... It would be a great plus if the software has alternative Captchas like question based or invisible Captcha. If it doesn't, I would like to be able to code it in without much trouble (that is, the software exposes a good API)

• ralink rt2860 not working anymore in ubuntu 12.10

  I just upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10, however, my network card is not working anymore... When i had 12.04 installed, i just had to download the driver from Ralink, go to the directory and enter these commands: $ make $ sudo make install and the network card worked... now, when I want to do this in ubuntu 12.10, it seems like it works, but it doesn't. I can enable the module, it recognizes the network card, but i am unable to connect to any wireless network... How can i get my wireless card working again? If any1 knows a solution, please tell it to me, thx in advance

• Mobile Apps for Oracle E-Business Suite

Build iOS and Android apps with once code base and get it done! By Steven Chan (Oracle Development)  Many things have changed in the mobile space over the last few years. Here's an update on our strategy for mobile apps for the E-Business Suite. Mobile app strategy We're building our family of mobile apps for the E-Business Suite using Oracle Mobile Application Framework.  This framework allows us to write a single application that can be run on Apple iOS and Google Android platforms. Mobile apps for the E-Business Suite will share a common look-and-feel. The E-Business Suite is a suite of over 200 product modules spanning Financials, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and many other areas. Our mobile app strategy is to release standalone apps for specific product modules.  Our Oracle Timecards app, which allows users to create and submit timecards, is an example of a standalone app. Some common functions that span multiple product areas will have dedicated apps, too. An example of this is ourOracle Approvals app, which allows users to review and approve requests for expenses, requisitions, purchase orders, recruitment vacancies and offers, and more. You can read more about our Oracle Mobile Approvals app here: Now Available: Oracle Mobile Approvals for iOS Our goal is to support smaller screen (e.g. smartphones) as well as larger screens (e.g. tablets), with the smaller screen versions generally delivered first.  Where possible, we will deliver these as universal apps.  An example is our Oracle Mobile Field Service app, which allows field service technicians to remotely access customer, product, service request, and task-related information.  This app can run on a smartphone, while providing a richer experience for tablets. Deploying EBS mobile apps The mobile apps, themselves (i.e. client-side components) can be downloaded by end-users from the Apple iTunes today.  Android versions will be available from Google play. You can monitor this blog for Android-related updates. Where possible, our mobile apps should be deployable with a minimum of server-side changes.  These changes will generally involve a consolidated server-side patch for technology-stack components, and possibly a server-side patch for the functional product module. Updates to existing mobile apps may require new server-side components to enable all of the latest mobile functionality. All EBS product modules are certified for internal intranet deployments (i.e. used by employees within an organization's firewall).  Only a subset of EBS products such as iRecruitment are certified to be deployed externally (i.e. used by non-employees outside of an organization's firewall).  Today, many organizations running the E-Business Suite do not expose their EBS environment externally and all of the mobile apps that we're building are intended for internal employee use.  Recognizing this, our mobile apps are currently designed for users who are connected to the organization's intranet via VPN.  We expect that this may change in future updates to our mobile apps. Mobile apps and internationalization The initial releases of our mobile apps will be in English.  Later updates will include translations for all left-to-right languages supported by the E-Business Suite.  Right-to-left languages will not be translated. Customizing apps for enterprise deployments The current generation of mobile apps for Oracle E-Business Suite cannot be customized. We are evaluating options for limited customizations, including corporate branding with logos, corporate color schemes, and others.   I have changed my source to local server. I'm using Ubuntu 12.10. When I type apt-cache search in terminal, it shows nothing. When I install lightread it shows Unable to locate package lightread. When I install lightread manually by python. • Apply WCF For Large Projects

  We have a large projects that have nearly 20 modules on it.We want to use WCF for business layer. We think three way to implement WCF our project: Use only one datacontract and one operation contract. Send ClassName, MethodName to operation and create class by reflaction then invoke the method in WCF side. Second way put all modules in one wcf application, and create their data contracts, operation contracts. Third way is create seperate wcf application for each module and host them seperatly. Which one is the best way? I need your ideas. TIA!

• Oracle Romania Summer School

You might think that this is something usually uncommon for a company and you would be right. However, Oracle’s main value being innovation, we came up with a new project for Romanian students and graduates. We organised Oracle Summer School , offering them the opportunity to develop their soft skills and gain valuable business knowledge and exposure. How was Oracle Summer School programme organised? We focused on students and graduates’ needs and combined business experience with training and practice. The twenty four participants had different backgrounds, being interested in Software, Hardware, Finance, Marketing or other areas. The programme fulfilled each of these needs, bringing them in contact with Specialists and Managers. The first two weeks were dedicated to the company visits, business presentations and networking. The participants got an insight about employees’ activities and projects. Storytelling was also part of the program and people from different departments spent a couple of hours with the participants, sharing their experiences, knowledge and interesting stories. The Recruitment team delivered a training about the job interview skills in order to make the participants feel better prepared for a Recruitment process. The second module consisted of two weeks of Soft Skills trainings delivered by professional trainers from different departments. The participants gained useful insight on the competencies required within a business environment. The evenings were dedicated to social activities and it not very long until they started feel part of a team. The third module will take place at the end of September and will put the participants in contact with senior people from the business who will become their Mentors. What do the participants say about Oracle Summer School? “ As a fresh computer science graduate, Oracle Summer School gave me the opportunity of finding what are the technical and nontechnical skills required in a large multinational company. • NetBeans 6.9 Released

  Great news, the first NetBeans release that has been conducted fully under the stewardship of Oracle has now been released. NetBeans IDE 6.9 introduces the JavaFX Composer, a visual layout tool for building JavaFX GUI applications, similar to the Swing GUI builder for Java SE applications. With the JavaFX Composer, developers can quickly build, visually edit, and debug Rich Internet Applications (RIA) and bind components to various data sources, including Web services. The NetBeans 6.9 release also features OSGi interoperability for NetBeans Platform applications and support for developing OSGi bundles with Maven. With support for OSGi and Swing standards, the NetBeans Platform now supports the standard UI toolkit and the standard module system, providing a unique combination of standards for modular, rich-client development. Additional noteworthy features in this release include support for JavaFX SDK 1.3, PHP Zend framework, and Ruby on Rails 3.0; as well as improvements to the Java Editor, Java Debugger, issue tracking, and more. • Upgraded to 11.10 lost personal folders, Ubuntu one shows no files

  Upgraded to 11.04, from 10.10 system would only come up in terminal mode, but it told me that an additional upgrade was available and did I want to do that. Foolishly thinking that might fix the problem, I said yes. This time it did not make it all the way through the upgrade, when I came back to the computer over an hour later, the screen was filled with an error message "could not open display", had to reboot. Went to recovery mode on reboot to install nvidia module, when I rebooted system came up fine, but without carrying over my personal folders, I have the home folder, but no personal named folder in it. Came to Ubuntu One, but gives error message; File Sync error. (org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked Is the a way around this in order to restore my files? I know my files existed on Ubuntu one as of a few months ago.

• Is MVC now the only way to write PHP?

  Hey... its XMAS Eve and something is bugging me... yes, I have work on my mind even when I am on holiday. The vast amount of frameworks available for PHP now use MVC. Even ASP.net has its own MVC module. I can see the attraction of MVC, I really can and I use it frequently. The only downside that I can see is that you have to fire up the whole system to execute a page request. Depending on your task this can be a little wasteful. So the question. In a professional environment is this the only way to use PHP nowadays or are their other design methods which have alternative benefits?

• Server overhead caused by bots?

  I have one customer website causing overhead (http://www.modacalcio.it/en/by-kind/football-boots.html). With htop opened, I am trying navigate the website and the much load of the website is done by the ajax link being placed on the left side of the website. The website is hosted by a VPS with 3 proc and 2GB RAM, with enough hard with disk space. The real problem is that this website is new and not visited much. From the http-status module I am seeing that the overhead is caused by bots (Google bots, Bing bots, hrefs checker and so on). So I thought that's probably due to those spiders trying to crawl all those links at once - could this be causing this overhead? I have also put rel="nofollow" in those links, but this doesn't keep the bots away. Is there any way through code or Plesk to disable those links to those bots?
