  • Timer vs setTimeout

    - by Christophe Herreman
The docs for flash.utils.setTimeout() state: Instead of using this method, consider creating a Timer object, with the specified interval, using 1 as the repeatCount parameter (which sets the timer to run only once). Does anyone know if there is a (significant) advantage in doing so? Using setTimeout is a lot easier when you only need to delay 1 call.

  • Windows 2008 - Define IP Order by port or service

    - by Josh
I have a Windows 2008 server that has three IP bound to the NIC. I can select which IP Windows SMTP listens to, but I want to also set the IP address used when mail is sent. Where would I set which outbound IP to use when sending email? Without using real IPs, here is an example what I have setup. Three IPs associated with the server: 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 10.0.0.3 I setup the binding on 10.0.0.2 for port 25 in the SMTP server settings, so that it is the only IP that will respond for inbound. When I look at the email header from an email sent from that server, it lists the server with an address of 10.0.0.3. I would like it to use 10.0.0.2 so that when reverse DNS is performed, it maps back correctly.

  • Writing a function for UIAlertView?

    - by worchyld
I'm sick of writing basic UIAlertView's, ie: UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWith...]] //etc Instead of doing this, is it possible to put all this in a "helper" function, where I can return the buttonIndex, or whatever an alert usually returns? For a simple helper function I guess you could feed parameters for the title, message, I'm not sure whether you can pass delegates in a parameter though, or bundle info. In pseudo-code, it could be like this: someValueOrObject = Print_Alert(Title="", Message="", Delegate="", Bundle="") // etc Any help on this would be great. Thanks

  • emacs split into 3 even windows

    - by Michael
Hi all, Quick question: How do I specify the number of characters in a split window? C-x-3 Splits my window into two windows evenly, but a subsequent split will split one of the windows in half. I'd like 3 equal sized windows. The documentation says that I should be able to specify the number of characters for the left buffer as a parameter, but I cant seem to get that to work. Any ideas for syntax? Thanks.

  • Simple WCF service with REST - Resource cannot be found - error with ASP.NET Debug Server?

    - by lesasch
Hi, I'm testing a very simple WCF-Service with REST functionality enabled. It works fine on IIS, but the VS2010 debug webserver always says "The resource cannot be found" when appending the parameter after the .svc file in the browser uri. Is this a known issue with the asp.net debug webserver that it cannot work with REST or am I doing anything wrong? (again: with IIS, it works)

  • Fastest reliable way to open the terminal?

    - by meder
I actually had my SUPER_L ( left windows key ) binded to gnome-terminal, but for whatever reason ever since upgrading to 9.04 Ubuntu from 8.10 Intrepid it seemed to break the key binding. It was very handy because I could throw open the terminal with one key ( sorry but alt-f2 and typing gnome-terminal isn't practical for me ). Or perhaps it reset all the keybindings? I remember using xev and some gui type interface that was akin to Win32 registry editor. Anyway, I'm curious as to what you guys use to open the terminal.

  • What's behind the 'system' function in perl?

    - by JohnJohnGa
i can thought that it will open a shell, execute the parameter (shell command) and return the result in a scalar. But, execute 'system' function in a perl script is faster than a shell command. It will call this command in C? If yes, what's the difference between rmdir foo and system('rmdir foo'); Thanks,

  • Parse multiple filters in SQL

    - by Jeff Meatball Yang
    I have a problem parsing a stored procedure parameter in the form: declare @S varchar(100) set @S = '4=2,24=1534' Here's the query: select cast(idx as varchar(100)) 'idx' , value , SUBSTRING(value, 1, charindex(value, '=')+1) 'first' , SUBSTRING(value, charindex(value, '=')+1, LEN(value)-charindex(value, '=')-1) 'second' from Common.SplitToTable(@S, ',') -- returns (idx int, value varchar(max)) where len(value) > 0 But here is the result I get: idx value first second 0 4=2 4 4= 1 24=1534 2 24=153 Here's what I expected: idx value first second 0 4=2 4 2 1 24=1534 2 1534 Help?

  • C++ using this pointer in constructors

    - by gilbertc
In c++, during a class constructor, I started a new thread with 'this' pointer as a parameter which will be used in the thread extensively (say, calling member functions). Is that a bad thing to do? Why and what are the consequences? Thanks, Gil.

  • Generate a JasperReport for a specific user

    - by user530846
I'm looking at using the JasperReport Web Services to create user specific reports. As opposed to getting a user to supply the name of the user to use for the query (and therefore expose a risk of users viewing each others data), I'd like within JasperReport to pull out their identity from their (Basic) authentication details from the web service run report call and then use their user name as a query parameter when running the report. Is there any documentation or examples on how this can be achieved?

  • Passing dynamic parameters to a stored procedure in SQL Server 2008

    - by themhz
I have this procedure that executes another procedure passed by a parameter and its parameters datefrom and dateto. CREATE procedure [dbo].[execute_proc] @procs varchar(200), @pdatefrom date, @pdateto date as exec @procs @datefrom=@pdatefrom,@dateto=@pdateto But I need to also pass the parameters dynamically without the need to edit them in the procedure. For example, what I am imagining is something like this CREATE procedure [dbo].[execute_proc] @procs varchar(200), @params varchar(max) as exec @procs @params where @params is a string like @param1=1,@param2='somethingelse' Is there a way to do this?

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Function, passing list of start and end times

    - by Kevin
I'd like to do had a dynamic number of one start/end time pairs passed to a function as an input parameter. The function would then use the list instead of just one start, and one end time in a select statement. CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[GetData] ( @StartTime datetime, @EndTime datetime ) RETURNS int AS BEGIN SELECT @EndTime = CASE WHEN @EndTime > CURRENT_TIMESTAMP THEN CURRENT_TIMESTAMP ELSE @EndTime END DECLARE @TempStates TABLE (StartTime datetime NOT NULL , EndTime datetime NOT NULL , StateIdentity int NOT NULL ) INSERT INTO @TempStates SELECT StartTime , EndTime , StateIdentity FROM State WHERE StartTime <= @EndTime AND EndTime >= @StartTime RETURN 0 END

  • gcc c++ command line error-message parser

    - by Autopulated
Are there any programs for parsing and displaying in a nice format the c++ error messages generated by gcc. I'm really looking for something like less that I can pipe my errors into that will collapse the template parameter lists by default, maybe with some nice highlighting so that my errors are actually readable. (Yes, it's boost's fault I have such incomprehensible errors, in case you were wondering)

  • mvc create my own html helper, how can i access httpcontext?

    - by rj
Hi, I've come across two recommendations for creating custom html helpers: either extend an existing one, or write your own class. I'd prefer to keep my custom code separated, it seems a bit sloppy to extend helpers for a decent-size application. But the benefit I see in extending is that 'This HtmlHelper helper' is passed as a parameter, through which I can get ViewContext.HtmlContext. My question is, how can I roll my own helper class and still have ViewContext.HtmlContext available to me? Thanks!
