• Mapping LINQ to SQL table to another very similar table without iterating through every one

  Apologies for the vague question. Here it is: I have a table object created by LINQ to SQL. I am copying entries from one table to an "archive" table that has all the columns of the original, plus a couple extra ones. It feels sloppy to iterate through every object and manually define the mapping like: foreach (oldTable in dbContextOldTables) { var newTable = new NewTable(); newTable.TableID = oldTable.ID; newTable.Title = oldTable.Title; ... Instead i want that the function will get a directory for example c:\ And it will return me a List of all directories in c:\ Not subsirectories just the directories in c:\ in my case it should be a List with a 14 directories. Meaning in each index in the List a directory. How can i do it ? Tried with Directory and DirectoryInfo but i just got messed up.

  In my code behind (c#) I dynamically created some RadioButtonLists with more RadioButtons in each of them. I put all controls to a specific Panel. What I need to know is how to access those controls later as they are not created in .aspx file (with drag and drop from toolbox)?   The title pretty much says it all, how do I know if I'm getting a compiler generated backingfield for a {get; set;} property ? I'm running this code to get my FieldInfos: Class MyType { private int foo; public int bar {get; private set; } } Type type = TypeOf(MyType); foreach (FieldInfo fi in type.GetFields(BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.DeclaredOnly | BindingFlags.NonPublic)) { // Gets both foo and bar, however bar is called <bar>k__backingfield. } so the question is, can I somehow detect that the FieldInfo is a backingfield, without relying on checking its name ? (Which is pretty undocumented, and could be broken in next version of the framework)

• C# compiler fails to recognize a class is implementing an interface

  The following code fails to compile (using VS2010) and I don't see why. The compiler should be able to infer that List is 'compatible' (sorry for lack of a better word) with IEnumerable, but somehow it doesn't.   I have the following array that I get as an output from facebook: http://www.paste.to/v/1jntlnml With the following code: $stream = $facebook->api_client->stream_get('',128342905144,'0','0',30,'','','',''); foreach($stream as $wallpost) { echo '<pre>'; print_r($wallpost); echo '</pre>'; } So I get the data that I need, but I want to call the individual variables within this array. For example, echo out the [message] for each post. Since it only loops once, I cant echo $wallpost['message'] or anything similar. any idea?

• How do I print array values in a range when values are supplied?

  My php reads in xml and I want to ouput the values within a given range. I have no way of knowing the size of the array or the range. However, I do know where to start; I have a $key that holds my current location. I also know where to stop; I have the word "ENDEVENTS" between each set. I want to get the values from my current position ($key) to my end position ("ENDEVENTS"). for example i may have an array set like this: Array( [0]=1 [1]=apple [2]=straw [3]=bike [4]=ENDEVENTS [5]=15 [6]=hair [7]=shirt [8]=nose [9]=kiwi [10]=ENDEVENTS ) My code knows when I'm on 15 (in this example $key=5). I want to print 6 through 9. I tried using foreach but it's thats causing issues with what I'm trying to produce. Any ideas?

I have a list of about 20 parent directories which have few thousand recursive subdirs and every subdir has few hundred records. • Can I find out what WCF methods are supported on the endpoint before calling it?

  I have a versioning issue with a WCF service contract in which one of the many endpoints which are called for the operation is missing one method from the contract. My question is, how can I make sure the command is available on the client before attempting to call it? I tried: foreach (var od in proxy.Endpoint.Contract.Operations) { if (od.Name == "MyMethodName") { hasMethod = true; break; } } Unfortunately, this is using the contract from the calling app and does not actually describe the implementations on the endpoint itself. As a result, it returns true even though the endpoint has failed to implement the command.

  I have a couple of tables where there are one to many relationships. Let's say I have a Country table, a State table with a FK to Country, and a City table with a FK to State. I'd like to be able to create a count of all Cities for a given country, and also a count of cities based on a filter - something like: foreach( var country in Model.Country ) { total = country.State.All().City.All().Count() ; filtered = country.State.All().City.Any(c=>c.field == value).Count(); } Obviously, this doesn't work - is there any way to do this?

  I have this PHP page where the user can select and un-select items. For example in the screenshot above, there are 4 assigned locations, if I'm gonna remove (or unassign) "Mercury Morong" and "GP Hagonoy" from the assigned locations, only two must remain.   I try to lead the types from an .dll (which is also referenced in the executing project). The public static void LoadPlugin(string pluginFile) method is located in other assembly that is also referenced in the executing project. No exceptions are thrown. What could be the issues for not loading all the types? Any ideas?

What I don't understand is the Select(str => str) bit. Surely that's not needed? If you leave it out and just have IEnumerable<String> aWords = words.Where(predicate); then you still get an IEnumerable back that contains the same results, and the code prints the same thing. Am I missing something, or is the example misleading?

• C# String builder, displaying data nicely spaced out.

  Hello, I am wondering how exactly can i order my date nicely in a stringbuilder? Meaning something equal to ("{0,2}", ....) to space the data nicely out. I do not want to use consolewrites of any kind, so the class can be re-used in a form, console code etc... Currently i am using " " for the spacing, but in overall it does not give a proper display. • Limiting Subscriptions to be emailed using SSRS

  Currently, our system will do a "foreach" over all Subscriptions which are returned from the ListSubscriptions method of ReportingService and fire a Timed Subscription event so that they receive the report as an email. In our dev environment, I don't want every subscription of these reports to be sent out when we are testing. Is there a way I can create a new subscription with my own email address being used so that I receive the report? The temp subscription could then be deleted after sending. Any ideas on how to do this?

  I have a script where it accepts a varying number of arguments. I want to use func_get_args to perform operations on said arguments. If I have one function like this: function Something() { foreach(func_get_args($this) as $functions) { // Do something } // Return.. } I want to be able to call this function in, for example, another function to add/save entries. The add/save function would have arguments 'title', 'description' etc.. I basically want to know if there is a way to detect the context of a function call. Can I pass something to func_get_args that will let it know that its called in a certain function? So if I do: function Save($title, $desc) { $vars = $this->Something(); } I want $vars to contain $title and $desc after modifying them.

• Changing the way widgets are rendered/displayed in a form on the template

  I have a form with a few other embedded forms and some various widgets. The widgets are all saved in an array $form['elements'] and for some of them, I want to display labels and things, but for others I only want to display the basic rendering. foreach($form['elements'] as $elem) echo $elem->render(); this displays everything about the widget. The way it is right now, I couldn't for example call $elem['..'] because the different subforms appear in a random order and have different variable names. I assume I could still put some checks in the template, but it seems easier to fix this in the widget class, like override one of the render functions or something. How would I go about doing this or do you have any links that could help me understand how do do this? on a side note, one of my widgets is the sfWidgetFormChoice and I have no clue where it actually renders or how renderer_classes work
