  I install SQL Server 2005 EXPRESS edition on one computer, Computer Name = 'MyServe' and Database name='MyDB',take it as database server. it is configured as both Database and Windows Authentication Mode. with username=sa and password=adminaa. I have application in C#.Net my connection string is ConnectionString = "Data Source=MyServe\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=MyDB;Integrated Security=True;User ID=sa;Password=adminaa"; when I run the application on the computer called MyServe, the database server, it works well, while when I install the application on different computer, when it tries to connect the database it gives an error called "login failed for user 'MyServe\Guest" what is wrong with configuration in the database server or other mistakes. please help me. thankyou in advance. • Partition table damaged

  Hello, I'm currently in a terrible situation with my hdd: I was trying to install an OS side by side with my windows 7 x64 and I used the Paragon Partition Manager feature made for that. It disabled/hid/(damaged?) one of my partitions and now I can no longer access it. The partition, unfortunately, contains data I need to access urgently and I've got no backup. To complicate things even further I don't have another PC (I'm writing this msg from my iphone) and all I can rely on is a backtrac 4 disk (wkn't connect to my wifi, gets stuck obtaining IP address) and. Windows 7 x64 disk. Booting into windows fails with the pc hanging on the starting windows screen. Safe mode won't work either. Is there anything I can do? Here's the layout of the disk: Recovery partition Win partition Unallocated space (it's supposed to be my data partition) Other os partition (don't care about that, the installation of the other OS failed) Please help me, I'm desperate.

• Skype keeps making me automatically invisible

  I keep getting made invisible automatically by skype. It doesn't even appear to happen at consistent intervals. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, sometimes it happens every 5 seconds. I don't want this to happen, but I can't find an option to disable it. Does anybody know if it's possible to disable the invisible status or prevent the timer at all? Or is there a hotkey that I am inadvertently pressing that activates invisible mode? Thanks.

  We have an application we have developed, it gets deployed via an MSI I built. The MSI has been used in many locations, on many different builds. On one customers site, on occasion we are seeing some odd occurrences of data from the registry going missing. The 'data' from some select registry keys disappears and we have little idea why. One interesting point is that the MSI installer for our application has been seen in passive mode during OS load / load of our application on stat-up. The MSI loads a progress bar then disappears, following this our application loads up. It has been noted that following this the data disappears from our registry. However I can't say these two events are absolutely linked, it could have been missing before this event. What causes the MSI for an application to launch way after initial installation. How can it be prevented (correctly)

I would like to try to disable as many dlls and programs from loading at boot as I can. What files in vista do I change to go about doing this? All the guides I've seen do it from within Vista. • Windows XP computer reboots at start

  I have trouble with a Windows XP computer. After Windows is started and I can see the desktop background (sometimes I can use the system a few seconds), then the system is rebooted before I can do anything. I have used a Windows XP CD and runned chkdsk /r from the repair console. But it didn't help. I have also tried booting in "safe mode" but it didn't help. The C:\Windows\Minidump directory is empty. What can I do to solve this? UPDATE: I have now placed the harddrive in another computer and I have access to all data. Except from copying all data, is there anything I can make with the system so I can boot from the harddrive again? Is it "safe" to install windows on the same disk and directory - so I can access the data but not run the applications?

  I'm running ubuntu 12.04. On this machine I have Webmin 1.580 installed. When trying to add a new module to Webmin I receive an error: "Failed to install module from : File does not exist" This happens when i go to Webmin Configuration Webmin Modules Select "Third party module from" Select "OpenVPN admin tool" and clicking on install module After I selected "OpenVPN admin tool" this url is being added: http://www.openit.it/downloads/OpenVPNadmin/openvpn-2.5.wbm.gz This URL resolves to a correct file. When uploading the file directly, the same error occurs. In the log file: /var/webmin/webmin.log nothing special is reported. How can I fix this issue? P.s. I run this server in CLI mode

• ssh freezes when trying to connect to some hosts

  When I try to ssh to particular machine/s in a list, The SSH command happens to be freezing. I tried out setting ssh timeout. But then also it's freezes even after the timeout. A work around I thought was to create a child process for each ssh calls and if the process doesn't respond after a timeout - Kill it. But are there any less complex ways, so that I can accommodate it in a shell script itself rather than going for a C/C++ program ?

• Creating ip alias on bonded interface ie. bond0:1

  System: HP Proliant DL360 G5 running CentOS 5.4 Bonded interface is working fine for a long time. I just went to add an alias the way I always have on a regular interface, and on first check it works (pinging on the local box) but it is not accessable from outside (iptables is turned off). In addition with this setup the normal network response started to decline, hanging for around a minute before I could get a prompt on login.   I have an HP LP3065 30" monitor - now I want to add a couple of companion screens to either side of it - I've heard to people suggesting 21" monitors in portrait mode - but it seems difficult to find a suitable panel these day, as 22" wide-screen monitors have become common, and I can't seem to find anything with a suitable 1600 pixel width. • Restoring openldap configuration from ldif file?

  I am trying to restore my OpenLDAP server from an ldif file I made before it went horribly wrong. All of the websites I found talk about using slapadd but when I run slapadd -v -l ~ns01/openldap_config.ldif it returns the error Could not stat config file "/etc/ldap/slapd.conf" : No such file or directory (2) slapadd: bad configuration file! When I look in the directory indeed the file does not exist, but this is because Ubuntu 11.10 is running in RTC mode, my LDAP server uses the /etc/slapd.d/cn=config for the configuration. So? What am I missing? Is slapadd the wrong tool to use? As I said above I running on Ubuntu 11.10 server edition 64-bit.

• Windows XP not starting up anymore (BSOD)

  When I tried to start my computer running Windows XP yesterday, as I turned on the screen it was stuck at the "Welcome" screen. I had to reset it. After that, I got stuck at the point where the BIOS should load the OS - I turn on the PC, the Motherboard and BIOS post message shows up, then the blinking "thing" in the top left corner shows up 2 seconds, then everything is black. After I let it run for some time in that mode, it automatically restarts. I'm writing this here from a Ubuntu 9.10 Live CD. What can I do to fix this? How can I find out what is wrong?   I recently got an ASUS K55A series laptop with Windows 8 on it, and have been trying to load Windows 7 on it for days to no avail, and recently I discovered how to get my Windows 7 install DVD to boot from the BIOS, but I deleted all of my Windows 8 system information from both partitions of my HDD and Windows 7 setup says it cannot install on the disc because of a partition format issue. I did not delete the recovery HDD partition for Windows 8, but I can't get the HDD to show up in my boot menu in BIOS, and none of the F keys work to get to recovery mode (only DEL and F2 work to get me into BIOS)

I'm hoping to get a quick answer here. Does an install format the hard disk, and destroy all data, including non-os/s data? -Or do you specifically have to say "format" at some point so you know you are losing everything? [I tried to go to SP3, but it doesn't work on my computer. My SP2 disk is fired. I only have a SP1 disk, with a seperate SP2 package.   I've been using GNU SED on and off for a couple of years now. It spins me out a bit sometimes, but it does a good job... for single-byte char sets! I now and then notice references to GNU SED being Unicode-aware, but the closest I've seen of this is its "binary" mode.. and binary is not Unicode. Can GSED process a Unicode text file at CodePoint resolution, including and especially \r\n (Windows)... and if it can, does it expect UTF-8, UTF-16, or what? and how does SED detect the encoding?

• Why does internet explorer 8 fail to locate jpg files that other browsers can find?

  The following URL doesn't display for me in Internet Explorer 8. I even tried compatibility mode and it didn't fix the issue. http://beat.com.au/sites/default/files/images/_DSC5596.jpg It appears just fine in Chrome/Safari/Firefox. I suspect it has something to do with the filename starting with _ but that seems like a fairly big stretch to me. Is this error repeatable on other people's computers? And why on earth would such a strange thing happen anyway?

• Would there be any problems with DEP turned off?

  I recently moved to a fresh Windows 8 x64 system and I learned that my favourite firewall (JPF - Jetico Personal Firewall) doesn't get along with Win8x64 (CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION errors), but I can not do without JPF, so I kind of tried everything I could think of (test mode, debugging, various system changes), but I was still getting blue screens because of the firewall driver/software. I know for sure that it is the firewall that is causing the problems because I get blue screens as soon as I install it and they stop when I uninstall it. I Also tested it thoroughly on virtual computers. Anyway, I have discovered that by completely turning DEP off by using this command: bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff the firewall would not cause blue screens anymore. So my question is, what could go wrong with DEP completely turned off? Note: I do not care much about hardware/windows security, I keep myself secured by using sandboxes and virtual computers (and I also have backups), so I'm not concerned with viruses and root kits or whatever people are freaking out about.

• Can I copy from vim to another window without +xterm-clipboard?

  I'm using Ubuntu and vim. I can copy text from vim and paste it into another window by highlighting it in vim, then middle-clicking in the other window. This works fine when I'm on my local machine. I can also copy into the system register by highlighting text and yanking to the system register. (For example, Shift-V JJ "+ y to go into linewise visual mode, highlight two lines, select the '+' register and yank.) It's then available to paste into other windows. However, if I ssh into my web host, I can't do either of these. (They use some flavor of Linux - I think it's CentOS.) In vim, if I type :version, my local version shows +xterm_clipboard, but the host's version shows -xterm_clipboard. I don't have sudo rights there. Is there any way to be able to copy from their vim without getting them to tinker with the installation?

  I am running macports to install scipy and such on OS X leopard with python 2.7. The install runs successfully, but running python and trying to import the packages I've installed, they're not found. What I'm running is: sudo python_select python27 sudo port install py27-wxpython py27-numpy py27-matplotlib sudo port install py27-scipy py27-ipython Opening up python in interactive mode (it is the correct version of python), I type 'import scipy' and get a module not found error. What gives? How can I find out where it is installing the packages to instead?

• Connecte RemoteApp to Exising Session

  Due to the slightly retardedness of an app I've got to run, I've got a server auto logging in on boot with the app on auto start. Remote desktop at my leisure to check on its status, etc. Gross, but it works. Now I've tried out RemoteApp which seems to work ok (ie. remotes the notification icon, balloons...) except for the fact that it creates a new session (and therefore instance of my app) - this confuses the heck out of app and it means that if I was using 'full' remote desktop I lose all my state. "Restrict each user to a single session" doesn't work. IIRC "Windows XP Mode" uses RemoteApp and it doesn't seem to have any trouble switching between modes. So how can I connect to a running app?
