  • Java - How to set focus the already running application ?

    I am using a ServerSocket port to run one instance only of my Java Swing application, so if a user tries to open another instance of the program, i show him a warning that "Another instance is already open". This works fine, but instead of showing this message i want to set focus on the running application itself, like some programs does (MSN Messenger), even if it was minimized. Is there a solution for this for various operating systems ?

    I have the following input to a perl script and I wish to get the first occurrence of NAME="..." strings in each of the ... structures. The entire file is read into a single string and the reg exp acts on that input. However, the regex always returns the LAST occurrence of NAME="..." strings. Can anyone explain what is going on and how this can be fixed?     I have a Mac Java app bundle that has problems opening an OpenGL window from a SWT dialog in a single process. It just doesn't work. To solve this problem I would like to open a SWT dialog in one instance of the Java app and then have it launch another instance of itself with a parameter saying "this time open the OpenGL window". The part I don't know how to do is finding out what "itself" is on a Mac. How can I do that?

    What are my best options for creating a financial open-high-low-close (OHLC) chart in a high level language like Ruby or Python? While there seem to be a lot of options for graphing, I haven't seen any gems or eggs with this kind of chart. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-high-low-close_chart (but I don't need the moving average or Bollinger bands) JFreeChart can do this in Java, but I'd like to make my codebase as small and simple as possible.   • What should I check in my ASP.NET application to make sure it won't run out of resources?

    We have a website on IIS7 using ASP.NET Routing that seems as though it might be running out of resources. It just hangs after a few days, there is no error message or apparent crash. We are making sure every .Open command is matched by a .Close command on the database connection. We are doing the same with file Open/Close but there are very few of those. Is there anything else we should check?

    I want to write something in a file. for example, fo=open('C:\Python\readline_test.txt','a') for i in range(3): st='abc'+'\n' fo.write(st) fo.close then I open this python file in IDLE, and click "Run Module". There is no error message but I find the writing is not complete if I didn't quit IDLE. How can I complete the file writing without quitting the IDLE? Thanks. (I use Python 2.6.2 on Windows XP.)

That way, I do not need to keep casting it to an int if I want to use it thanks
