  • Unable to stretch TableLayout to screen width

    - by Rendrik
    I've tried unsuccessfully for quite a few hours now to simply get a TableLayout to scale to the full screen. I've tried stretchColumns, shrinkColumns, (specifying the column index or using *) you name it. It's almost as if the parent element (TableLayout) is completely ignoring 'android:layout_width="fill_parent"'. I've read through similar questions here, though they haven't solved it for me. The XML below has 3 rows, and the table always shrink wraps to the size of the content. Apparently I'm too new to post pictures(?) Here is the XML rendered into the project i'm working on. http://www.dashiva.com/images/Capture.png What am I missing here, it's quite frustrating! <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:stretchColumns="*"> <TableRow> <TextView android:id="@+id/AmountText" android:text="@string/general_amount" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/CardText" android:text="@string/general_card" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:text="@string/general_date" android:id="@+id/DateText" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/ErrorText" android:text="@string/general_error" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> </TableRow> <TableRow> <TextView android:text="Amount here..." android:id="@+id/AmountNum" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/CardNum" android:text="Num here..." android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:text="date here..." android:id="@+id/DateDate" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:text="Code here..." android:id="@+id/ErrorCode" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> </TableRow> <TableRow> <ImageView android:id="@+id/cc_image" android:src="@drawable/mastercard" android:background="@drawable/row_bg2" android:layout_gravity="center" android:layout_weight="1"></ImageView> <TextView android:id="@+id/ResponseText" android:layout_span="4" android:text="Response text here..." android:textSize="18dip" android:layout_weight="1"></TextView> </TableRow> <ImageView android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:background="@drawable/gradient_bg" android:layout_height="3dip" android:layout_width="fill_parent"></ImageView> </TableLayout>

  • SIFR 3.0 - Font Size

    - by Nick
    I have been working with SIFR 3.0 for some time now and the font-size never seems to work correctly. I understand the most basic concepts behind SIFR. SIFR runs when you load the page. It does some calculations one the size of the HTML rendered font and then replaces it with a flash movie that is roughly equal to that size. Because of this, you want to style your HTML font to match the size of your SIFR font as close as possible. My problem always comes up when trying to style these two font sizes to match. Let's say I want to use a SIFR font of Helvetica Neue Lt at about 32px. The HTML equivalent is something like Arial Narrow at about 36px with some negative letter spacing. So here is what I do. In sifr.css I'll write: @media screen { .sIFR-active h1 { visibility: hidden; z-index: 0 !important; font-size: 36px; } } Great, that gets the default HTML font the size I need. Now I need to update the flash SIFR font size. So I go into sifr-config.js and write something like this: sIFR.replace(HelveticaNeueThinCond, { selector: 'h1', css: '.sIFR-root { color: #762123; font-size: 32px; line-height: 1em; }', transparent: true }); So right now everything is working great. That is until my h1 text wraps more than one line. For some reason, when the text wraps it only shows the first line. It seems calculates the height wrong. This is very weird because I ran some tests. I took "visibility: hidden" off of "sIFR-active h1" to make sure that the HTML rendered text was the right size. It is, it takes up two lines. However, when the Flash replaces this text it gives it a min-height of one line of text. Odd. The only way I could find to fix this wrapping problem was to remove "font-size: 32px;" from "sIFR.replace(HelveticaNeueThinCond" in sifr-config. The problem I run into then is that it inherits the font-size set in sifr.css. Now the problem is that my HTML text is bigger then the SIFR text. So occasional my HTML text will wrap to a new line before my SIFR text leaving a big white space. So, how do I set two different font-size (one for my HTML text and one for my SIFR) without losing the wrapping. The only time I have been able to use the successfully is when I have a SIFR font that is so similar to a web safe font that they can share the same font-size attribute. Thanks

  • Any way to simulate MouseOver in WPF

    - by jpierson
    I'm working on a link control in WPF which fits the text with icon links case in the Windows UX Guide. What I want is to have some text within a hyperlink that appears to the right of some image. In my case I started off by using a TextBlock that contained a Hyperlink which then contained my image and some text. <TextBlock> <Hyperlink> <Rectangle Height="16" Width="16" Fill="{StaticResource MyIconBrush}" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left" /> <Run>My link text</Run> </Hyperlink> </TextBlock> The problem with this however was that the image being taller than my text produced an effect where the text was aligned to the bottom. Unfortunately I haven't found any way to control the vertical alignment within the TextBlock or within the Hyperlink so I've resorted to attempting an alternative layout where the Hyperlink and the Rectangle that represent my vector icon are separated in order to get them to align properly like shown below. <TextBlock> <Hyperlink> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Rectangle Height="16" Width="16" Fill="{StaticResource MyIconBrush}" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left" /> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center"><Hyperlink>My link text<Hyperlink></TextBlock> </StackPanel> </Hyperlink> </TextBlock> The problem with this however is that now that my Icon and my Hyperlink are separated I don't get my MouseOver appearance of my link when I the mouse is over my icon and vise-versa. So this got me to thinking, how do I simulate MouseOver for a given control such with a checkbox where you get the MouseOver effect on the box when you actually mouse over it's associated text. I know in the HTML world the label element has a for attribute that can be used to specify which control it is labeling which will basically do what I'm looking for. Also I can imagine that in other scenarios it may be nice to have a label that when you mouse over shows a corresponding text box as if the mouse is over it and possibly when clicked focus is given to the corresponding text box as well. For now though I'm interested mainly in how to to get a label or label like element in WPF to act as a proxy for a given control in terms of it's MouseOver state. Also I would like to do this purely in XAML if possible.

  • Update tile notifcation with XML returned by web service

    - by tempid
    I have a Metro app in C# & XAML. The tile is updated periodically and I've used WebAPI to serve the tile notification XML. So far so good. I was then told that I cannot use WebAPI as the server that I was planning to host it on does not have .NET 4.5. No plans to install it anytime soon either. I had to change the WebAPI to a plain old Web service (.NET 3.5) which does the same thing - return tile notification XML. I've enabled HTTP-GET (I know, security concern) and was able to invoke the webservice like this - http://server/TileNotifications.asmx/[email protected] But ever since I made the switch, the tiles are not being updated. I've checked Fiddler and made sure the app is hitting the webservice and the XML is being returned correctly. But the tiles are not updated. If I replace it with the WebAPI, the tiles are updated. Do I need to do anything special with the web services? like decorating the web method with a custom attribute? Here's my web service code - [WebMethod] public XmlDocument GetTileData(string user) { // snip var xml = new XmlDocument(); xml.LoadXml(string.Format(@"<tile> <visual> <binding template='TileWideSmallImageAndText02'> <image id='1' src='http://server/images/{0}_wide.png'/> <text id='1'>Custom Field : {1}/text> <text id='2'>Custom Field : {2}</text> <text id='3'>Custom Field : {3}</text> </binding> <binding template='TileSquarePeekImageAndText01'> <image id='1' src='http://server/images/{0}_square.png'/> <text id='1'>Custom Field</text> <text id='2'>{1}</text> </binding> </visual> </tile>", value1, value2, value3, value4)); return xml; }

  • Inserting newlines into a GtkTextView widget (GTK+ programming)

    - by Mark Roberts
    I've got a button which when clicked copies and appends the text from a GtkEntry widget into a GtkTextView widget. (This code is a modified version of an example found in the "The Text View Widget" chapter of Foundations of GTK+ Development.) I'm looking to insert a newline character before the text which gets copied and appended, such that each line of text will be on its own line in the GtkTextView widget. How would I do this? I'm brand new to GTK+. Here's the code sample: #include <gtk/gtk.h> typedef struct { GtkWidget *entry, *textview; } Widgets; static void insert_text (GtkButton*, Widgets*); int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { GtkWidget *window, *scrolled_win, *hbox, *vbox, *insert; Widgets *w = g_slice_new (Widgets); gtk_init (&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new (GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); gtk_window_set_title (GTK_WINDOW (window), "Text Iterators"); gtk_container_set_border_width (GTK_CONTAINER (window), 10); gtk_widget_set_size_request (window, -1, 200); w->textview = gtk_text_view_new (); w->entry = gtk_entry_new (); insert = gtk_button_new_with_label ("Insert Text"); g_signal_connect (G_OBJECT (insert), "clicked", G_CALLBACK (insert_text), (gpointer) w); scrolled_win = gtk_scrolled_window_new (NULL, NULL); gtk_container_add (GTK_CONTAINER (scrolled_win), w->textview); hbox = gtk_hbox_new (FALSE, 5); gtk_box_pack_start_defaults (GTK_BOX (hbox), w->entry); gtk_box_pack_start_defaults (GTK_BOX (hbox), insert); vbox = gtk_vbox_new (FALSE, 5); gtk_box_pack_start (GTK_BOX (vbox), scrolled_win, TRUE, TRUE, 0); gtk_box_pack_start (GTK_BOX (vbox), hbox, FALSE, TRUE, 0); gtk_container_add (GTK_CONTAINER (window), vbox); gtk_widget_show_all (window); gtk_main(); return 0; } /* Insert the text from the GtkEntry into the GtkTextView. */ static void insert_text (GtkButton *button, Widgets *w) { GtkTextBuffer *buffer; GtkTextMark *mark; GtkTextIter iter; const gchar *text; buffer = gtk_text_view_get_buffer (GTK_TEXT_VIEW (w->textview)); text = gtk_entry_get_text (GTK_ENTRY (w->entry)); mark = gtk_text_buffer_get_insert (buffer); gtk_text_buffer_get_iter_at_mark (buffer, &iter, mark); gtk_text_buffer_insert (buffer, &iter, text, -1); } You can compile this command (assuming the file is named file.c): gcc file.c -o file `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-2.0` Thanks everybody!

  • Add UIView and UILabel to UICollectionViewCell. Then Segue based on clicked cell index

    - by JetSet
    I am new to collection views in Objective-C. Can anyone tell me why I can't see my UILabel embedded in the transparent UIView and the best way to resolve. I want to also segue from the cell to several various UIViewControllers based on the selected index cell. I am using GitHub project https://github.com/mayuur/MJParallaxCollectionView Overall, in MJRootViewController.m I wanted to add a UIView with a transparency and a UILabel with details of the cell from a array. • Backbone events not firing (this.el undefined) & general feedback on use of the framework

    - by Leo
    I am very new to backbone.js and I am struggling a little. I figured out a way to get data from the server (in json) onto the screen successfully but am I doing it the right/best way? I know there is something wrong because the only view which contains a valid this.el is the parent view. I suspect that because of this, the events of the view are not firing ()... What is the best way forward? Here is the code: var surveyUrl = "/api/Survey?format=json&callback=?"; $(function () { AnswerOption = Backbone.Model.extend({}); AnswerOptionList = Backbone.Collection.extend({ initialize: function (models, options) { this.bind("add", options.view.render); } }); AnswerOptionView = Backbone.View.extend({ initialize: function () { this.answerOptionList = new AnswerOptionList(null, { view: this }); _.bindAll(this, 'render'); }, events: { "click .answerOptionControl": "updateCheckedState" //does not fire because there is no this.el }, render: function (model) { // Compile the template using underscore var template = _.template($("#questionAnswerOptionTemplate").html(), model.answerOption); $('#answerOptions' + model.answerOption.questionId + '>fieldset').append(template); return this; }, updateCheckedState: function (data) { //never hit... } }); Question = Backbone.Model.extend({}); QuestionList = Backbone.Collection.extend({ initialize: function (models, options) { this.bind("add", options.view.render); } }); QuestionView = Backbone.View.extend({ initialize: function () { this.questionlist = new QuestionList(null, { view: this }); _.bindAll(this, 'render'); }, render: function (model) { // Compile the template using underscore var template = _.template($("#questionTemplate").html(), model.question); $("#questions").append(template); //append answers using AnswerOptionView var view = new AnswerOptionView(); for (var i = 0; i < model.question.answerOptions.length; i++) { var qModel = new AnswerOption(); qModel.answerOption = model.question.answerOptions[i]; qModel.questionChoiceType = ChoiceType(); view.answerOptionList.add(qModel); } $('#questions').trigger('create'); return this; } }); Survey = Backbone.Model.extend({ url: function () { return this.get("id") ? surveyUrl + '/' + this.get("id") : surveyUrl; } }); SurveyList = Backbone.Collection.extend({ model: Survey, url: surveyUrl }); aSurvey = new Survey({ Id: 1 }); SurveyView = Backbone.View.extend({ model: aSurvey, initialize: function () { _.bindAll(this, 'render'); this.model.bind('refresh', this.render); this.model.bind('change', this.render); this.model.view = this; }, // Re-render the contents render: function () { var view = new QuestionView(); //{el:this.el}); for (var i = 0; i < this.model.attributes[0].questions.length; i++) { var qModel = new Question(); qModel.question = this.model.attributes[0].questions[i]; view.questionlist.add(qModel); } } }); window.App = new SurveyView(aSurvey); aSurvey.fetch(); }); -html <body> <div id="questions"></div> <!-- Templates --> <script type="text/template" id="questionAnswerOptionTemplate"> <input name="answerOptionGroup<%= questionId %>" id="answerOptionInput<%= id %>" type="checkbox" class="answerOptionControl"/> <label for="answerOptionInput<%= id %>"><%= text %></label> </script> <script type="text/template" id="questionTemplate"> <div id="question<%=id %>" class="questionWithCurve"> <h1><%= headerText %></h1> <h2><%= subText %></h2> <div data-role="fieldcontain" id="answerOptions<%= id %>" > <fieldset data-role="controlgroup" data-type="vertical"> <legend> </legend> </fieldset> </div> </div> </script> </body> And the JSON from the server: ?   • Discover NullPointerException bugs using FindBug

    - by alex2k8
    When I run FindBug on this code, it reports NO issues. boolean _closed = false; public void m1(@Nullable String text) { if(_closed) return; System.out.println(text.toLowerCase()); } While here it finds issue as expected: public void m1(@Nullable String text) { System.out.println(text.toLowerCase()); // FireBug: text must be nonnull but is marked as nullable } Why does it fail in first case?

  • JSP to Bean to Java class Validation

    - by littlevahn
    I have a rather simple form in JSP that looks like this: <form action="response.jsp" method="POST"> <label>First Name:</label><input type="text" name="firstName" /><br> <label>Last Name:</label><input type="text" name="lastName" /><br> <label>Email:</label><input type="text" name="email" /><br> <label>Re-enter Email:</label><input type="text" name="emailRe" /><br> <label>Address:</label><input type="text" name="address" /><br> <label>Address 2:</label><input type="text" name="address2" /><br> <label>City:</label><input type="text" name="city" /><br> <label>Country:</label> <select name="country"> <option value="0">--Country--</option> <option value="1">United States</option> <option value="2">Canada</option> <option value="3">Mexico</option> </select><br> <label>Phone:</label><input type="text" name="phone" /><br> <label>Alt Phone:</label><input type="text" name="phoneAlt" /><br> <input type="submit" value="submit" /> </form> But when I try and access the value of the select box in my Java class I get null. Ive tried reading it in as a String and an Array of strings neither though seems to be grabbing the right value. The response.jsp looks like this: <%@ page language="java" %> <%@ page import="java.util.*" %> <%@page contentType="text/html" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> <%! %> <jsp:useBean id="formHandler" class="validation.RegHandler" scope="request"> <jsp:setProperty name="formHandler" property="*" /> </jsp:useBean> <% if (formHandler.validate()) { %> <jsp:forward page="success.jsp"/> <% } else { %> <jsp:forward page="retryReg.jsp"/> <% } %> I already have Java script validation in place but I wanted to make sure I covered validation and checking for non-JS users. The RegHandler just uses the name field to refer to the value in the form. Any Idea how I could access the select box's value?

  • jQuery Validation Plugin: Packer undefined error?

    - by Rosarch
    I'm using the jQuery validation plugin from bassistance.de. It works fine. From <head>: <script type="text/javascript" src="/static/JQuery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/static/js-lib/jquery.validate.pack.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/static/js-lib/jquery.validate.additional-methods.js"></script> At first, this was the only validation code I had, and it worked: $("form").validate(); $("#form-username").rules("add", { required: true, email: true, }); It was validating this HTML: <form id="form-username-form" action="api/user_of_email" method="get"> <p> <label for="form-username">Email:</label> <input type="text" name="email" id="form-username" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" id="form-submit" /> </p> </form> Great, everything works. But then I add this JS: $("#form-choose-options input[type='text']").rules("add", { number: true, }); to validate this markup: <form id="form-choose-options" action="api/set_options" method="get"> <p> <label for="form-min-credits">Min credits per term:</label><input type="text" name="min_credits" id="form-min-credits" /> <br /> <label for="form-optimal-credits">Optimal credits per term:</label><input type="text" name="optimal_credits" id="form-optimal-credits" /> <br /> <label for="form-max-credits">Max credits per term:</label><input type="text" name="max_credits" id="form-max-credits" /> <br /> <label for="form-low-GPA">Lowest acceptable GPA:</label><input type="text" name="low_GPA" id="form-low-GPA" /> <br /> <label for="form-high-GPA">Highest realistic GPA:</label><input type="text" name="high_GPA" id="form-high-GPA" /> <br /> <input type="hidden" class="user-pk" name="pk"/> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </p> </form> This causes a javascript error on document load: $.data(f.form, "validator") is undefined The error is from the packer function. What am I doing wrong?
