  • How to make the first invocation of a macro different from all the next ones ?

    - by LB
    Hi, that may be really simple but i'm unable to find a good answer. How can I make a macro representing first a certain value and then a different one ? I know that's nasty but i need it to implicitly declare a variable the first time and then do nothing. This variable is required by other macros that i'm implementing. Should i leverage "argument prescan" ? thanks for the answers. EDIT To make things clearer. Suppose i have a macro FOO, and I do something like FOO FOO FOO I would like the result to be foo bar bar I don't want the actual code to be cluttered by ifndef. The programmer should only have to write macro invocations.

  • My cookies won't stay (PHP).

    - by RemiX
    I'm building an autologin system using cookies, but one fundamental part of the functionality of the cookies fails: they are non-persistent over different sessions - or even pages! In my login script, I set the cookies like this: setcookie('userID', $userID, time()+86400); // (edited after replies) $userID has a value. Then I print the $_COOKIE variable and it says array(['base_usid'] = 1); So that's good, but when I click the home page and print the $_COOKIE variable there, it says NULL. Does anyone see the problem?

  • php string to array and split

    - by RussP
    Hi folks Looking for suggestions as to the best way to do this (I know there are many options): take a variable like this: $args = ('post_type=post&order_by=DESC&limit=10'); the create a function to convert that variable into parts like this: $post_type = post; $order_by = DESC; $limit= 10; Reason is I want a client to be able to use a string like the first to pass variables to a sql query in much the same way (but doesn't have to be exact) as you can do it in WordPress.

  • What is the correct way to fix this Javascript closure

    - by sujoe
    I have been familiarizing myself with javascript closures and ran across this article http://blog.morrisjohns.com/javascript_closures_for_dummies.html Due to the closure, Example 5 does not work as expected. How would one modify result.push( function() {alert(item + ' ' + list[i])} ); to make the code work? function buildList(list) { var result = []; for (var i = 0; i < list.length; i++) { var item = 'item' + list[i]; result.push( function() {alert(item + ' ' + list[i])} ); } return result; } function testList() { var fnlist = buildList([1,2,3]); // using j only to help prevent confusion - could use i for (var j = 0; j < fnlist.length; j++) { fnlist[j](); } } testList(); Thanks!

  • How can I format numbers as money in JavaScript?

    - by Daniel Magliola
    I would like to format a price in JavaScript. Basically, I have a float variable, and I'd like to have a function that will receive that variable, and output: "$ 2,500.00" What's the best way to do this? EDIT: OK, since I haven't gotten any answers better than the code I implemented, plus my own answer has been voted down and I can't put my own answer as the right one... Here it is... var DecimalSeparator = Number("1.2").toLocaleString().substr(1,1); var AmountWithCommas = Amount.toLocaleString(); var arParts = String(AmountWithCommas).split(DecimalSeparator); var intPart = arParts[0]; var decPart = (arParts.length > 1 ? arParts[1] : ''); decPart = (decPart + '00').substr(0,2); return '£ ' + intPart + DecimalSeparator + decPart;

  • How to open a new screen with additional parameters?

    - by Solo
    I've read through the FAQ of Android Dev Guid (http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/faq/commontasks.html#opennewscreen) but I'm not sure how can I open a new screen with additional parameters passed into it. Let's say I'm going to open screen2, with a variable indicating the current user name so that I could greet the users. Is it possible? Intent i; i = new Intent(this, screen2.class); //How to pass variable to screen2? startActivity(i);

  • Django store regular expression in DB which then gets evaluated on page

    - by John
    Hi, I want to store a number of url patterns in my django model which a user can provide parameters to which will create a url. For example I might store these 3 urls in my db where %s is the variable parameter provided by the user: www.thisissomewebsite.com?param=%s www.anotherurl/%s/ www.lastexample.co.uk?param1=%s&fixedparam=2 As you can see from these examples the parameter can appear anywhere in the string and not in a fixed position. I have 2 models, one holds the urls and one holds the variables: class URLPatterns(models.Model): pattern = models.CharField(max_length=255) class URLVariables(models.Model): pattern = models.ForeignKey(URLPatterns) param = models.CharField(max_length=255) What would be the best way to generate these urls by replacing the %s with the variable in the database. would it just be a simple replace on the string e.g: urlvariable = URLVariable.objects.get(pk=1) pattern = url.pattern url = pattern.replace("%s", urlvariable.param) or is there a better way? Thanks

  • How is does this module code work?

    - by phsr
    I'm new to ruby and I am trying to figure out how the following code works The following code is inside a class in a module. The method is called later with the following code: @something ||= Module::Class.config class << self def config &block options = OpenStruct.new yield options if block_given? init_client! Client.new(options) end def init_client!(client) base_eigenclass = class << Base; self; end base_eigenclass.send :define_method, :client do @client = client end client end end The class has some constants in it, and when the classes initialize is called, the instance member are set to option.variable || VARIABLE_CONSTANT. I understand that if there is no value for option.variable then VARIABLE_CONSTANT is used, but I don't understand that calling Module::Class.config do |options| #some block end set the @client until config is called again with options The code definitely works, but I want to understand how it does

  • Grouped table with image in first row (and section), the remaining ones having text with different l

    - by Structurer
    Hi I have a grouped table with two sections where I display text with different length and therefore cell height. I have solved the problem with the different length/height with constrainedToSize in cellForRowAtIndexPath. Now I want to add a section with one single row in which I want to show a picture. How should I best implement that? (still a bit of a beginner with the Objective C) I would guess that I would have to create an UIImageView and somehow link that to the cell, but my biggest concern is how do I do with the dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier now that I will have two different type of cells? Appreciate any advice that will help me save time from trial and error!

  • C++ MFC how to compare LPCTSTR in a if statement?

    - by user1078510
    I have the following code: LPCTSTR strPermission = Method(); if (strPermission == L"0") { return true; } else { return false; } While debugging I can see that strPermission does equal "0", yet when I compare it like in the if statement it always returns false. The only thing I can think of is that it is comparing the memory address of the variable rather than the variable value. How do I compare strPermission to L"0" so that it would return true if strPermission equals "0". Thank you!

  • Singleton pattern with Web application, Not a good idea!!

    - by Tony
    Hi I found something funny, I notice it by luck while I was debugging other thing. I was applying MCP pattern and I made a singleton controller to be shared among all presentations. Suddenly I figured out that some event is called once at first postback, twice if there is two postback, 100 times if there is 100 postbacks. because Singleton is based on a static variable which hold the instance, and the static variable live across postbacks, and I wired the event assuming that it will be wired once, and rewired for each postback. I think we should think twice before applying a singleton in a web application, or I miss something?? thanks

  • Windows XP batch file concat

    - by dls
    I'm trying to accomplish the following ridiculous task: I have a text file containing a set of fully qualified filesnames. I want to iterate through the file and append each line to a common variable, that can be passed to a command line tool. For example, the file might be: C:\dir\test.txt C:\WINDOWS\test2.txt C:\text3.txt and I'd like to assign them to some variable 'a' such that: a = "C:\dir\test.txt C:\WINDOWS\test2.txt C:\text2.txt" A secondary question is - what is a good batch file reference? I'm finding some stuff in the Windows material, and a lot of home-grown websites, but nothing particularly complete. Thanks!

  • password limitations in SQL Server and MySql

    - by asteroid
    Does MySql 5.1 and SQL Server 2008 (Web edition, Standard) have any functional password limitations other than length limits? Are metacharacters in any form a bad idea to use, like bang, pipe, hash, any slash, carrot, and so on? I know that MySql 5.1 has a password length limitation of 16 characters that is hardcoded, but I was wondering, are any metacharacters (i.e. non alphanumerics) a bad idea to use? And is this true in SQL Server 2008 Web edition, Standard? So specifically: can symbols like: /`~:}{[]^ be used successfully? I would hope it doesn't matter to the database, but I don't understand enough about password storage in enterprise database systems yet to know for sure, and I was looking for confirmation or an explanation.

  • file names based on file content

    - by Mark
    So iow, some algorithm to generate a unique, reasonable length filename based on binary file content. Two files that have the same binary content should have the same name. Obviously there would be limits to this, as presumably you couldn't have unique reasonable length filenames for each of a large set of large files only differing at a handful of bit positions. But presumably there is some heuristic, best approximation to this that for example exploits known attributes of typical image files. If I had the name of some algorithm that does this I can google it and find other approaches as well.

  • Sending a file from memory (rather than disk) over HTTP using libcurl

    - by cinek1lol
    Hi! I would like to send pictures via a program written in C + +. - OK WinExec("C:\\curl\\curl.exe -H Expect: -F \"fileupload=@C:\\curl\\ok.jpg\" -F \"xml=yes\" -# \"http://www.imageshack.us/index.php\" -o data.txt -A \"Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1\" -e \"http://www.imageshack.us\"", NULL); It works, but I would like to send the pictures from pre-loaded carrier to a variable char (you know what I mean? First off, I load the pictures into a variable and then send the variable), cause now I have to specify the path of the picture on a disk. I wanted to write this program in c++ by using the curl library, not through exe. extension. I have also found such a program (which has been modified by me a bit) #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <iostream> #include <curl/curl.h> #include <curl/types.h> #include <curl/easy.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { CURL *curl; CURLcode res; struct curl_httppost *formpost=NULL; struct curl_httppost *lastptr=NULL; struct curl_slist *headerlist=NULL; static const char buf[] = "Expect:"; curl_global_init(CURL_GLOBAL_ALL); /* Fill in the file upload field */ curl_formadd(&formpost, &lastptr, CURLFORM_COPYNAME, "send", CURLFORM_FILE, "nowy.jpg", CURLFORM_END); curl_formadd(&formpost, &lastptr, CURLFORM_COPYNAME, "nowy.jpg", CURLFORM_COPYCONTENTS, "nowy.jpg", CURLFORM_END); curl_formadd(&formpost, &lastptr, CURLFORM_COPYNAME, "submit", CURLFORM_COPYCONTENTS, "send", CURLFORM_END); curl = curl_easy_init(); headerlist = curl_slist_append(headerlist, buf); if(curl) { curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_URL, "http://www.imageshack.us/index.php"); if ( (argc == 2) && (!strcmp(argv[1], "xml=yes")) ) curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, headerlist); curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_HTTPPOST, formpost); res = curl_easy_perform(curl); curl_easy_cleanup(curl); curl_formfree(formpost); curl_slist_free_all (headerlist); } system("pause"); return 0; }

    - by Androi Developer
    I am trying to Upload & Download file to server using FTP and Download File using HTTP i am able to do this, my problem is when i am trying to show seek bar with Upload status of file using ftp then it's not showing. Code:-- // Upload System.out.println("upload test is called"); //Toast.makeText(con, "upload FTP test is called", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); //ContextWrapper context = null; //assetManager= context.getAssets(); assetManager = getResources().getAssets(); input1 = assetManager.open("hello.txt"); final long started = System.currentTimeMillis(); int size = input1.available(); //byte[] buffer = new byte[size]; byte dataByte[] = new byte[1024]; //input1.read(buffer); //String data = "ZK DATA TESTER TEST DATA1sdfsdf"; String data = input1.toString(); System.out.println("dat value is........"+data); final int lenghtOfFile = data.getBytes().length; //final int lenghtOfFile = input1.getBytes().length; System.out.println("length of file....."+lenghtOfFile); ByteArrayInputStream in = new ByteArrayInputStream( data.getBytes()); //toast("Uploading /test.txt"); //Toast.makeText(con,"File Size : " +data.getBytes().length + " bytes",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); //byte b[] = new byte[1024]; long total = 0; long sleepingTime= 0; System.out.println("started time --"+started); updateUI(status, "Uploading"); while ((count = in.read(dataByte)) != -1) { System.out.println("read value is...."+in.read(dataByte)); while (sleep1) { Thread.sleep(1000); System.out.println("ftp upload is in sleeping mode"); sleepingTime +=1000; } System.out.println("Total count --"+count); total += count; System.out.println("Only Total --"+total); final int progress = (int) ((total * 100) / lenghtOfFile); final long speed = total; //duration = ((System.currentTimeMillis() - started)-sleepingTime) / 1000; boolean result = ObjFtpCon.storeFile("/test.txt", input1); //boolean result = ObjFtpCon.storeFile(map.get("file_address").toString()+"/test.txt", input1); duration = ((System.currentTimeMillis() - started)-sleepingTime) / 1000; /* runOnUiThread(new Runnable() { public void run() { bar.setProgress(progress); // trans.setText("" + progress); //duration = ((System.currentTimeMillis() - started)-sleepingTime) / 1000; //duration = ((System.currentTimeMillis() - started)-sleepingTime) / 1000; //real_time.setText(duration + " secs"); if (duration != 0) { test_avg.setText((((speed / duration)*1000)*0.0078125) + " kbps"); if (pk <= (speed / duration) / 1024) { pk = (speed / duration) / 1024; } if (pk <= ((speed / duration)*1000)*0.0078125) { pk = (long)(((speed / duration)*1000)*0.0078125); } //peak.setText(pk + " kbps"); } } });*/ //in.close(); if (result) { updateUI(status, "Uploaded"); // toast("Uploading succeeded"); // toast("Uploaded at /test.txt"); //duration = ((System.currentTimeMillis() - started)-sleepingTime) / 1000; System.out.println("curreent time.....   • Whether to check for null

    - by coffeeaddict
    I know that you should always check incoming params to a method for null. But what if I have this scenario with a try/catch referring to a local variable. Do I really need to check for null below? Because it's gonna catch it anyway if it's null and the next line of code tries to use the refundResponse variable: public string DoRefund(...) { try { ...... string refundTransactionID = string.Empty; ...... RefundTransactionResponseType refundResponse = transaction.DoRefund(...); if (refundResponse != null) refundTransactionID = refundResponse.RefundTransactionID; ..... } catch (Exception ex) { LogError(ex); return ex.ToString(); } }

  • Comparing large strings in JavaScript with a hash

    - by user4815162342
    I have a form with a textarea that can contain large amounts of content (say, articles for a blog) edited using one of a number of third party rich text editors. I'm trying to implement something like an autosave feature, which should submit the content through ajax if it's changed. However, I have to work around the fact that some of the editors I have as options don't support an "isdirty" flag, or an "onchange" event which I can use to see if the content has changed since the last save. So, as a workaround, what I'd like to do is keep a copy of the content in a variable (let's call it lastSaveContent), as of the last save, and compare it with the current text when the "autosave" function fires (on a timer) to see if it's different. However, I'm worried about how much memory that could take up with very large documents. Would it be more efficient to store some sort of hash in the lastSaveContent variable, instead of the entire string, and then compare the hash values? If so, can you recommend a good javascript library/jquery plugin that implements an appropriate hash for this requirement?
