  • Oracle data provider hangs IIS worker process when web site is stopped

    We're experiencing a nasty issue in Oracle 11g Release 2 where the w3wp process takes over and entire processor core, and debugging shows that the Oracle data provider is throwing ThreadAbortExceptions infinitely. A developer found this issue by doing the following: 1) Browse a web site that uses Oracle data connections locally (http://localhost/OracleWebSite) - we use IIS, not the ASP.NET dev server, for all of our sites. This ensures that the w3wp process is running and that an active Oracle pool of connections exists in the app pool. 2) Stop the web site (or perform a Rebuild All operation in Visual Studio on the web site in question). Our Oracle connection handling in the affected applications (all Oracle web apps) is well-established and robust. This issue does not occur if we disable connection pooling. This issue does not occur in Oracle 11g Release 1.

  • CentOS 6 - iptables preventing web access via port 80

    I'm setting up a new web server with CentOS 6.2 and am not able to connect via the web. Everything looks set up correctly in httpd.conf and Apache is running, so I'm assuming it's an iptables issue.   • Create a web interface that starts VM's on the server side

    I am creating a service called TorCompute which allows for creating virtual Tor Hidden Service servers on my infrastructure (I say infrastructure, by that I mean just the 3x 32GB RAM machines waiting to be purchased). What I would like to be able to do is for users to log on, access the web interface and spin up a VM with a variable about of RAM/Disk Space. I've written the PHP for logging in and have a nice web interface, just I need the code to actually create them! How would I go about doing this?   • Apache Web Server character encoding

    I've recently transferred my webapp from my localhost (LH) to a VPS, and have had hebrew chars-encoding probs since. Whenever I send a request with a heb-char it results in "?????" saved to the DB. My LH config was tomcat6, MySQL, and centOS 6.2, opened to the web. In the VPS env I'm behind an Apache Web Server, and the rest is quite the same (though I haven't done anything to its installation). Please note I already have had this problem before, on my LH when the request was sent from IE/chrome (not FF!). The solution was to apply a filter on the the context and change the char-type to UTF-8. My webapp content char-encode is utf-8, MySql server set to utf8 using charset utf8;, and my centOS set to iw_IL.UTF8 using export LANG=iw_IL.UTF8. When I use locale the bash output seems to be set correctly. Any suggestions?

    I am trying to access a newly vCenter. The documentation clearly mentions to access the web-admin through: https://localhost:9443/admin-app but since I don't have a windows OS built under the vCenter (I use the vCenter Appliance) There is no localhost to use. If I try with the host IP I get the error: This PDF explains to install IIS component - But it's ESX 4 - and also not talking about appliance. so, a simple question: how can I access the web-app admin tool? also found a similar question on vmware forum. But I can't understand the solution/if any.

  • System.Web.UI not available in console app?

    Hey everybody, Im trying to write a quick console app that outputs data to an HTML file, however im having trouble accessing the System.Web.UI namespace. Adding System.Web to my references places a warning icon on top of the reference name in the solution explorer and System.Web is not available in the .NET reference list (in order for me to actually add it to the project I have to go to the object browser and add it from there). Anybody have any ideas about what I could be missing? Thanks alot people!

  • Different results between Android Geocoder and Google Geocoding web service

    I am creating an Android application and I need to use the geolocation. I have started by using the Geocoder API from Android (android.location.geocoder) but it causes some issues (timed out waiting for response from server) which seem to be common according to what I have read. To make my application work when this kind of error occurs, I use the Geocoding web service. Now, the application works every time. The problem is that the results returned by the geocoder from API and the geocoder from the web service are not the same. For example the web service returns only 3 addresses with only city name and country whereas the geocoding from the API returns about 8 addresses with the feature name, the thoroughfare, the locality... The question is: is there a way to make the results from the web service exactly the same than the ones from the API? EDIT Here is my MainGeocoder class: public class MainGeocoder { private Geocoder geocoderAPI; private GeocoderRest geocoderRest; public MainGeocoder(Context context) { geocoderAPI = new Geocoder(context); geocoderRest = new GeocoderRest(context); } public List<Address> getFromLocationName(String search, int maxResults) { List<Address> addresses; try { addresses = geocoderAPI.getFromLocationName(search, maxResults); return addresses; } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); try { addresses = geocoderRest.getFromLocationName(search, maxResults); return addresses; } catch (IOException e1) { return null; } catch (LimitExceededException e1) { return null; } } } } It basically tries to get the list of addresses from the API Geocoder.     For educational purpose, I am writing a server instance in GCE(google compute engine) to serve a few web apps mostly (to be) written in Dart and Polymer. My workflow is, when my students log-in the server above, they will automatically fork those web apps into their own registries in their own server instances for further development. My issues are, How to serve web applications(they are git registries as well) in GCE like Github Pages? I am trying to add custom control to the same assembly as Visual Web Part and registering control as: <%@ Register TagPrefix="cus" Namespace="SomeCustomControlNameSpace" % When I am trying to access this its throwing runtime error : Unknown server tag 'cus:ControlName'. Do I need to make any Web.Config entry for this? Any Ideas?

    Hi Friends, I have deployed 3 web parts on a site on Sharepoint server. In my 3rd web part, I have a functionality which needs a button click. Now when I click that button, the whole page gets refreshed and I have to scroll down to see the change that has happened due to clicking that functionality in 3rd web part. Is there any way by which when i click on any point of the web part, the page is reloaded but the control point or the focus remains to the same position where I clicked... Help me out. Now I can access it through my browser using the following url: http://localhost:8080/MyDynamicWebApp Now I want to change the access url to http://localhost:8080/app I changed the context root from the project properties | Web Project Settings | Context Root But it is not working. The web app still has the access url as earlier. I have re-deployed the application on tomcat, re-started the tomcat and have done everything that should be done but the access url is the same as earlier. I found that there were no server.xml file attached with the WARfile. The how the tomcat is determining that the context root of my web app is /MyDynamicWebApp and is allowing me to access the application through that url

I understand that it is "managed" on kernel level. Is the task that I want to perform possible?

  • Mavericks: Safari does not login in into web services

    Since when I upgraded ML to Mavericks Safari is no longer able to log me into Facebook. When I go to the login page it suggests me the correct credentials, I hit the Login button, the page refreshes but nothing happens, like if the credentials where empty. Firefox works perfectly, I even logged out and back in to make sure the credentials are the same that Safari suggests, and so they are. Needless to say for a different user on the same Mavericks Safari logs in correctly. The same happens with most web pages that need a login, web mails for instances, I have tow accounts on different webmail providers and none of them works. Of course using the same mail services with POP3 works fine. Even on this very site I cannot post a thing with Safari, I'm going to switch to Firefox to be able to post this question. Again, Firefox or a different user are OK. Do you have any idea/suggestion?
