  • Force download menu for remote files

    Hey, I would like users to upload links on my site. When another user clicks on the link (e.g. PDF file), then I would like the download popup to show instead of actually displaying the PDF in browser. I know I can use Response.AddHeader/Response.WriteFile to achieve this, but the WriteFile method required a virtual path. However, the links uploaded by the user will be pointing to external servers. Can I still force the download popup to show and, if so, what would be the most efficient way of doing it? Thanks for any advice

So far I've solved this using read.table(comment.char = ">", skip = x, nrow = y) (x and y are currently fixed). This reads the data between the header and >>> end of file. However, I would like to make my function a bit more plastic regarding the number of rows. Data may have values larger than 800, and consequently more rows. I could scan or readLines the file and see which row corresponds to the >>> end of file and calculate the number of lines to be read. What approach would you use?

  • Have to put files in static_dir but need to read them afterwards

    I just started using google app engine. In order to use templates, I'm using jinja2. I want to add images dynamically after I set the width and height of the img tag. I used PIL in order to read the image size and put the one I want. However when I open the image with PIL, I need it not to be in a static_dir and to put the image in the img tag, I need it to be in the static_dir. As a testing solution I've copied the folder to see if I get results and I did. But as you can see having each image saved twice is kind of bad.

  • utl_file.FCLOSE() is slow with large files

    We are using utl_file in Oracle 10g to copy a blob from a table row to a file on the file system and when we call utl_file.fclose() it takes a long time. It's a 10mb file, not very big, and it takes just over a minute to complete. Anyone know why this would be so slow? Thanks

    I would like to bundle PostgreSQL into my application. I downloaded the PostgreSQL 9 beta zip without the installer. After extraction, there are 8 directories. I found out that at least the following directories are required to run PostgreSQL properly, at least under my experiments. bin lib share The question is, are the above three directories really sufficient to run a fullly functional PostgreSQL? Do I need the 'include' and 'symbols' directories? Also, can I remove 'share\locale' if I don't use these locales?

  • Reading lines of data from text files using java

    I have a text file with x amount of lines. each line holds a integer number. When the user clicks a button, an action is performed via actionlistener where it should list all the values as displayed on the text file. However, right now I have linenum set to 10 implying I already told the code that just work with 10 lines of the text file. So, if my text file has only 3 rows/lines of data...it will list those lines and for rest of the other 7 lines, it will spit out "null". I recall there is a way to use ellipsis to let the program know that you don't know the exact value but at the end it calculates it based on the given information. Where my given information will the number of lines with numbers(data).     I have a project that depends upon some other binaries to be downloaded from web at install time.For this what i do is: if ( file-present-in-src/) # skip that file else # use wget to download the file The problem with this approach is that when I interrupt a download in middle, and do invoke the script next time, the partially downloaded file is also skipped (which is not desired), also I want wget to resume the download of the partially downloaded file. How should I go about it: Possible Solutions I could think of: Let the file to be downloaded to some file say download_tmp. Copy to original file if successful. Handle SIG{'INT'} to write proper cleanup code. But none of these could help resume the partial file download, Any insights?

  • Problem when using \LaTeX \includegraphics with some PDF files

    I noticed some strange effects when including existing pdf graphics in my laTeX documents: Most file work flawlessly, but some PDFs that were created on a different machine (or from the web) cause the whole page on which they are embedded to become ever-so-slightly distorted. I only notice the difference in a side-by-side comparison, but once you see it, it's obvious. The text layout seems slightly broken, and when you zoom in you can see it better. I will try to make some screenshots to further elaborate, but in the meantime: Has anyone seen this before and how can I get rid of these distortions?
