Why do I get Detached Entity exception when upgrading Spring Boot 1.1.4 to 1.1.5

On updating Spring Boot from 1.1.4 to 1.1.5 a simple web application started generating detached entity exceptions. Specifically, a post authentication inteceptor that bumped number of visits was causing the problem. A quick check of loaded dependencies showed that Spring Data has been updated from 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 and a further check of the change log shows a couple of issues relating to optimistic locking, version fields and JPA issues that have been fixed. Well I am using a version field and it starts out as Null following recommendation to not set in the specification. I have produced a very simple test scenario where I get detached entity exceptions if the version field starts as null or zero. If I create an entity with version 1 however then I do not get these exceptions. Is this expected behaviour or is there still something amiss? Below is the test scenario I have for this condition. In the scenario the service layer that has been annotated @Transactional. Each test case makes multiple calls to the service layer - the tests are working with detached entities as this is the scenario I am working with in the full blown application. The test case comprises four tests: Test 1 - versionNullCausesAnExceptionOnUpdate() In this test the version field in the detached object is Null. This is how I would usually create the object prior to passing to the service. This test fails with a Detached Entity exception. I would have expected this test to pass. If there is a flaw in the test then the rest of the scenario is probably moot. Test 2 - versionZeroCausesExceptionOnUpdate() In this test I have set the version to value Long(0L). This is an edge case test and included because I found reference to Zero values being used for version field in the Spring Data change log. This test fails with a Detached Entity exception. Of interest simply because the following two tests pass leaving this as an anomaly. Test 3 - versionOneDoesNotCausesExceptionOnUpdate() In this test the version field is set to value Long(1L). Not something I would usually do, but considering the notes in the Spring Data change log I decided to give it a go. This test passes. Would not usually set the version field, but this looks like a work-around until I figure out why the first test is failing. Test 4 - versionOneDoesNotCausesExceptionWithMultipleUpdates() Encouraged by the result of test 3 I pushed the scenario a step further and perform multiple updates on the entity that started life with a version of Long(1L). This test passes. Reinforcement that this may be a useable work-around. DirectAccess client can't connect

I've set up a DirectAccess server on Windows Server 2012 at my workplace. I'm using a Windows 8 Enterprise client to connect to it. It works fine over a mobile connection, but it fails when connecting from home. I've ruled out the firewall/router as the culprit as the issues persist when connecting the laptop directly to the cable modem. I'm not sure where to begin to debug this, does anyone have any pointers? Both Teredo and IPHTTPS interfaces are up (although as the server is behind a NAT and we only have 1 public IP I understand that IPHTTPS is the only protocol that will be used). The IPHTTPS tunnel also seems to be connected: netsh interface httpstunnel show interfaces Interface IPHTTPSInterface (Group Policy) Parameters ------------------------------------------------------------ Role : client URL : https://redacted:443/IPHTTPS Last Error Code : 0x0 Interface Status : IPHTTPS interface active however the DirectAccess link can't be activated - get-daconnectionstatus cycles between Status : Error Substatus : CouldNotContactDirectAccessServer and Status : Error Substatus : RemoteNetworkAuthenticationFailure Any suggestions on how to attack this are appreciated!

CertMgr fails trying to import an SPC file

We have an SPC files which came with the Cisco IP Communicator installer. It needs to be imported into the localMachine ROOT store. However, which the certmgr.exe is run against this SPC file, it errors out. Doesn't matter if it's run from within the installer or manually. The commands I've tried using are: certmgr.exe -add -all CDPcredentials.spc -s -r localMachine root The result displayed is: Error: Failed to save to the destination store CertMgr Failed There is no other information, no log file, nothing in the eventviewer. I's almost as if the ROOT store is in a read-only state. I would also like to point out that I'm able to import single certificates. Just not an SPC files, which contains multiple certificates. I have also tried different versions of the CertMgr utility. Running on Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sharepoint 2010, 404 error after installation

Running Windows Server 2008 Standard R2, SQL Server 2008 Enterprise, Team Foundation Server 2010, I installed Sharepoint Server 2010 (single server). It installed correctly, and the wizard configured it without errors. When accessing the sharepoint server through http://localhost/ I get a 404 error. I also get a 404 when trying to access the admin interface on port 42620. Sharepoint, TFS and Reporting services are the only application on my IIS. NOT sharing the same port, so that can't be the error. Do you have any ideas what the problem can be? Is there some way that I can debug this?

wildcard ssl certificate - exchange 2010 - POP/IMAP problem

previously we have requested a wildcard ssl certificate from godaddy for our major domain. one of the reasons was the new established exchange server 2010. usually you require following names included in certificiate: FQDN (e.g. mail.whatever.com) Hostname (mail) Domain name (whatever.com) Autodiscover.whatever.com MX Record with the wildcard certificate these are all covered (except of the local hostname). During creation/importing of the ssl certificate into exchange 2010, exchange first asks, if a wildcard certificate is used and then encounters an error - due to the certificate is a wildcard certificate and not a certificate especially generated for the FQDN, SSL for POP and IMAP can not be provided. couldn't find any workaround or solution for this on google, so I hope, maybe some one here has an answer or solution for me! :) the exchange 2010 is running on a windows server 2008 R2 enterprise. thanks in advance and best regards, sise

How to resolve "svn: Can't find a temporary directory: Internal error"?

I have already googled the message, and I have plenty of disk space available on the SVN server (it's about 4% usage of 150 GB). I have noticed that when I try echo $TMPDIR at the command prompt on the SVN server I get nothing. What is making this a little confusing is that I only get this message from one location when I do an svn diff (that I've tested so far) - this error is not coming up when I try from three other computers (one of which is testing against the exact same repository, the other two are different repositories on the same svn server). About the only difference I can see is that the broken working copy is connecting to the server by an IP address where all the others are using a server name (although this resolves over DNS to the same IP Address). I'm hoping that I don't have to scratch the broken working copy and checkout a new one - unfortunately, this is a legacy project and not all changes have been properly revisioned.

how do I resolve "user isn't assigned to any management roles" error in Exchange 2010 EMC?

Newly installed Exchange 2010 box (technically, a partially installed box, as this error is preventing me from completing the install). When I launch EMC or the Management Powershell, I get this error: VERBOSE: Connecting to myserver.mydomain.internal [myserver.mydomain.internal] Processing data from remote server failed with the following error message: The user "mydomain\administrator" isn't assigned to any management roles. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic. Failed to connect to any Exchange Server in the current site. Thing is.. The logged in administrator account (confirmed using 'whoami') is a member of the following groups: Administrators Delegated Setup Discovery Management Domain Admins Domain Users Enterprise Admins Exchange Organization Administrators GPO Creator Owners Organization Management Schema Admins Server Management Any ideas? how can I get past this?

Exchange 2010 periodically stops responding to SMTP events with error 421 4.4.1 Connection timed out

After some help diagnosing why Exchange 2010 Enterprise stops responding to SMTP events. I can't find a pattern to it. It doesn't appear to be an actual timeout, as the server responds immediately with the error. To reproduce it I telnet into the server on port 25 and issue a EHLO. The server immediately replies with the 421: 421 4.4.1 Connection timed out Once this starts happening I've found restarting the exchange box is the only reliable way to get it flowing again. Sometimes restarting the Transport service or the mailbox attendant service seems to fix it, but this could be coincidental as it often has no effect.

RightFax 9.3 Available Disk Space?

We are currently running RightFax 9.3 as our fax server. I was just in the RightFax Enterprise Fax Manager resolving another problem and noticed 2 little red exclamation marks in the lower left hand pane. I have one beside "Available disk space for fax images" and one beside "Available disk space for fax database". Both are labeled with 5%? What is this? How can this be resolved? I have plenty of physical storage left on the server drives so I am curious as to which space it is referring to??

WSRM error on Server running SQL databases

I have a Server Running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition With SQL 2005. There is no problems with the server in its day to day functions but i am getting a Warning in the Event Log every 5 minutes with the following: Windows System Resource Manager encountered the following error 0x80010117. User Name will not be logged in the subsequent event logs. Error 0x80010117 User Action Address the error condition, and then try again. This has been happening for over 2 weeks now and i cannot find anything online to help! If i could have some help, then it would much appreciated. Thanks

Windows 2008 R2 DHCP server not responding to DHCP discover

I've got two Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 servers both running DNS and DHCP called cod & lobster. DHCP is setup using the split scope option introduced with 2008 R2, whereby both servers should respond with the first response providing the lease. Setup is as follows: Cod - IP: 192.168.0.231 - Pool: 192.168.0.101 - 192.168.0.179, exclusion for 160-179. - Response Delay: 0ms - Authorised in Active Directory (Re-authorised to confirm) - Windows firewall disabled while testing Lobster - IP: 192.168.0.232 - Pool: 192.168.0.101 - 192.168.0.179, exclusion for 101-159. - Response Delay: 1000ms - Authorised in Active Directory All DHCP leases to clients are currently being issues by Lobster rather than Cod. Packet captures with Wireshark show the following (all to broadcast address): Client - DHCP Discover Lobster - DHCP Offer (after 1s delay) Client - DHCP Request Lobster - DHCP Ack Client - DHCP Inform From my setup with two servers I'd expect to see a DHCP Offer coming from Cod almost immediately after the DHCP Discover. Does anybody have any idea what would prevent the DHCP Server responding to the discover?

Microsoft Office documents collaboration - Open Source alternative

I am looking for a good solution to collaborate on Microsoft Office documents, we currently just edit directly on a Samba share but it's one big mess because sometimes people leave the office with their laptops while docs are open so swap files remain there and then you nobody is sure what's going on. Is there any good and simple open source solution based on Linux? I've tried Alfresco but it is much more than what I need, we got an internal wiki for most collaboration and I just need some solution for the stuff we need to do in Microsoft Office (mostly Excel files, the rest is in the wiki) EDIT: Some more info as requested - we are very small group, 4 full time employees and a few freelancers. The best idea I've got so far is just managing it in a subversion repository with a Lock-Modify-Lock policy but I'd love to hear about better solutions. Thanks!

We have installed windows 2008 R2 enterprise on a Dell server. This server is placed remotely in data center and only administrator is going to access it for maintenance purpose. No multiple users or client remote access is needed Now during 'remote desktop services' role installation network admin accidentally selected 'per user/device' licensing mode. Because of which now 120 days free try period is ticking. Since only administrator is going to access this server remotely we need to have 'Remote control for administrators' licensing mode (like windows 2003) on it. How we can change licensing mode from 'per user/device' to 'Remote control for administrators' on 2008 server? Also will it be possible to do this change remotely using RDC session itself? or do i need to change it using physical console (if remote access is gonna be disabled during switch)?

ASP.NET MVC jquery.UI dialog - How to validate the dialog's input on server and return error?

I am using jQuery1.4.2, ASP.NET MVC 2 and jQuery.UI-1.8. I am creating a data input dialog which works OK when all the data is valid, but I want to validate the input data on the server and return an error to the dialog describing the error and I am not quite sure how to do that and keep the dialog open. The dialog is opened when a link is clicked. The solution may be to try to bypass more of the MVC framework's default binding that handles the submit button clicks and creates the expected ProfilePermission object and calls the Controller's AddPermission POST Action method, but I was hoping there may be an easier way without have to write more jquery/javascript code to handle the button clicks and pass the data to the server. Can't install SQL Express 2008R2- caspol.exe application error - the application failed to initialize

I'm trying to install SQL Server Express 2008 R2 on Windows 2003 Server (enterprise edition). I get the following error message: Title: caspol.exe - Application Error Text: The application failed to initialize properly (0x000007b), Click on OK to terminate the application. I get the same error message both when downloading the installer and running it and when using the web platform installer. All the pages on the internet I've found about similar problem say it's a corrupt .net installation issue - This server runs multiple .net apps and I've never had any problems with any of them. I've uninstalled and reinstalled .net (causing a painful outage) and nothing changed. Does anyone here has any idea what might cause this? Update 1: additional information I forgot to include: 32bit version of Windows running in a virtual machine, no anti virus Update 2: when running caspol.exe from the command line I get the same error

How do I use C# and ADO.NET to query an Oracle table with a spatial column of type SDO_GEOMETRY?

My development machine is running Windows 7 Enterprise, 64-bit version. I am using Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate. I am connecting to an Oracle 11g Enterprise server version 11.1.0.7.0. I had a difficult time locating Oracle client software that is made for 64-bit Windows systems and eventually landed here to download what I assume is the proper client connectivity software. I added a reference to "Oracle.DataAccess" which is version 2.111.6.0 (Runtime Version is v2.0.50727). I am targeting .NET CLR version 4.0 since all properties of my VS Solution are defaults and this is 2010 RC. I was then able to write a console application in C# that established connectivity, executed a SELECT statement, and properly returned data when the table in question does NOT contain a spatial column. My problem is that this no longer works when the table I query has a column of type SDO_GEOMETRY in it. Below is the simple console application I am trying to run that reproduces the problem. Sql Server 2008 - Cannot connect to local default instance

I recently rebuilt my machine to Windows 7 x64, installed Sql Server 2008 enterprise. I can connect fine to other remote instances via Management Studio (be they 2000, 2005 or 2008), but i cannot find my local default instance. I have verified that a directory was created for the default instance C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER I can connect to SQLEXPRESS instance fine I have rerun setup to ensure I have everything installed I have verified that the SQLSERVER(MSSQLSERVER) service is running I have tried brownsing for the instance and see all the others available except my local one I have tried using this for servername: TSOUTHERLANDPC\MSSQLSERVER, the first part being my local machine name My issue is not the same as this post or this post. Any ideas?

Hello Experts, We have an enterprise web app to which our clients post/upload lots of documents [mainly images and pdf files] via web interface, iphone app etc etc. We are also using imagick to split pdf documents into images. Also, large number of mysql SELECT/UPDATE/DELETE queries happen all day. Currently, all of this is happening on same server and we are planning to split the process in 3 stages : 1) a server only for database 2) a server only for documents (document upload, splitting etc) 3) a server for the main php web app Is there any drawback with this kind of structure as compared to hosting everything on same server ? Managed hosting firewall vs managing own firewall

I posted on stackoverflow as to the overall benefits of managed hosting vs non-managed hosting. The more I think about it, it seems to boil down to one question: should I use a managed host because they take care of the firewall, or would I be okay managing my own, software firewall? The sites on the box do get quite a lot of traffic but as for throughput and what-not, it's not something I know much about. Ideally, i'd take my sites over to a Linode stack and manage incoming connections using iptables or an alternative. Here are some example hardware solutions a managed host would provide: Cisco Pix 501, Pix 506, Pix 515 and ASA 5505 and ASA 5510 Firewalls, configurable in a control panel the likes of an enterprise firewall such as FortiGate 110C Aside from this, I do not need managed hosting, so I appreciate your suggestions.
