  hi, how can I get the embed element with jQuery ? (I spent enough time trying with "children(), find(), last() jquery functions). This is my code.   I'm working for the first time with a TileList and an itemRenderer and I'm having a bit of trouble getting the information from my array collection to display and looking for some advice. • How do you print from a popup window in javascript?

  I have a .Net application that dynamically creates a small HTML page and pops it up in a new window using the javascript document.open method. Everything with that functionality is working fine. Now I want to add a button to the HTML page that prints the page. I have tried using the following code to no avail: <a href='print.html' onClick='window.print();return false;'> <img src='images/printer.png' height='32px' width='32px'></a> When the button is clicked in the popup window, nothing happens. But when the source code of of this page is saved and loaded in a browser as a separate page, the print button works perfectly. So it would appear that the problem is caused by the fact that the code is in a popup window. Does anyone know a way to fix this problem or any alternatives? EDIT: Other method that I have tried with the same results: <input type='button' onclick='window.print()' value='Print' /> and <a href='javascript:window.print()'> <img src='images/printer.png' height='32px' width='32px'></a>

  Hey people Okay, what I'm trying to accomplish is a simple tool tip that, when you hover over the name of a color, shows a little image of that color. But when you hover over the text the little thumbnail shows up and makes it easy to recognize the color. The problem is I haven't got a clue how to get the src for the thumbnail. I don't know how to extract the src from the img inside the selected element. I've tried various combinations using the this keyword, but nothing seemed to work. I've also tried to add the src path as a rel attribute to the label, but also without any success. Should be needless to say I also control the PHP-output... I really hope you can help me. • Can you have multiple clipping regions in an HTML Canvas?

  I have code that loads a bunch of images into hidden img elements and then a Javascript loop which places each image onto the canvas. However, I want to clip each image so that it is a circle when placed on the canvas.   Hi, I am very new to html/xml/css and I'm trying my best to teach myself. However, I have run into a problem that a Google search could not solve. I would like to position a small image in a fixed location relative to another element(?) • Why does a non-dynamically created iframe shim show, but a dynamically created one does not?

  I have a custom control that is made up of a text field and the ajax control toolkit dateextender. In IE6 I'm hitting the z-index bug where the calendar is showing behind select boxes. If I have the shim sitting in the control, initially hidden, it seems to display fine when the calendar is shown, but when I try to dynamically create the shim on showing it doesn't appear. I've tried bgiframe and some examples I found on SO, no luck.   okay, so I'm trying to set up a webpage with a div wrapping two other divs, and the wrapper div has a background, and the other two are transparent.   I use primefaces push to write a message in a p:notificationBar. if i push a message with specials characters (like russians char), I've got '?' in my message. How can I fix this problem ? • CSS Design question, I've got myself completely turned around.

  Okay, I have a couple of other questions out there, but I think I'd better just ask from the beginning how you CSS experts would do this. Client's page is split into 2 rows -- header has some info, some aligned to left of page, some to right, some in the middle. This is currently done using a table. I'm fine with leaving this alone or changing it. My real question is that I need a page layout to handle the following: 2 columns - column on left is 200px, but can be "close" down to to 10px (not a slider, it's either 200 or 10 px). The column on the right needs to be as big as it needs to be -- which might be larger than the width of the page. When left column is "closed" then the right column slides over of course. Again, this right column might be 300px or it might be 4000 pixels (it's a reporting interface). Now, to add another wrinkle, SOME pages have 3 columns. The first 2 columns are each exactly 200px, and both can be "closed" down to 10 px each. But, the user may not close both columns, maybe just 1. Or none. Or both. The third column needs to act just like I described above, being able to be larger than the page width, and sliding over to take advantage of any of the "closed" left columns. Whew! I'm pretty confused as to how to go about this, as either I get it right but I can't scroll over to the right at all (overflow: hidden) and information is lost, or the right column jumps down below the left 2 columns and just looks plain stupid. My minimum browser requirements are IE8, FF3.5, Chrome and Safari (latest versions of all). Any and all pointers are gladly accepted.

• Ideas for jumping in 2D with Actionscript 3 [included attempt]

  So, I'm working on the basics of Actionscript 3; making games and such. I designed a little space where everything is based on location of boundaries, using pixel-by-pixel movement, etc. So far, my guy can push a box around, and stops when running into the border, or when try to the push the box when it's against the border. So, next, I wanted to make it so when I bumped into the other box, it shot forward; a small jump sideways. I attempted to use this (foolishly) at first: // When right and left borders collide. if( (box1.x + box1.width/2) == (box2.x - box2.width/2) ) { // Nine times through for (var a:int = 1; a < 10; a++) { // Adds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. if (a <= 5) { box2.x += a; } else { box2.x += a - (a - 5)*2 } } } Though, using this in the function I had for the movement (constantly checking for keys up, etc) does this all at once. Where should I start going about a frame-by-frame movement like that? Further more, it's not actually frames in the scene, just in the movement. This is a massive pile of garbage, I apologize, but any help would be appreciated.

• JS: capture a static snapshot of an object at a point in time with a method

  I have a JS object I use to store DOM info for easy reference in an elaborate GUI. It starts like this: var dom = { m:{ old:{}, page:{x:0,y:0}, view:{x:0,y:0}, update:function(){ this.old = this; this.page.x = $(window).width(); this.page.y = $(window).height(); this.view.x = $(document).width(); this.view.y = window.innerHeight || $(window).height(); } I call the function on window resize: $(window).resize(function(){dom.m.update()}); The problem is with dom.m.old. I would have thought that by calling it in the dom.m.update() method before the new values for the other properties are assigned, at any point in time dom.m.old would contain a snapshot of the dom.m object as of the last update – but instead, it's always identical to dom.m. I've just got a pointless recursion method. Why isn't this working? How can I get a static snapshot of the object that won't update without being specifically told to? Comments explaining how I shouldn't even want to be doing anything remotely like this in the first place are very welcome :)

• I need some help cropping an image in PHP (GD)

  http://i.imgur.com/foT9u.jpg Using that image as an example, here's what I need to do: Crop the blue square to have the same proportional ratio as that of the black square From doing that, I should then be able to resize the blue square to fit into the black square without losing stretching it - It'll retain its proportions. Note: The blue square must be cropped 'from the center'. The original center should remain the center after the crop (it can't be cropped from the top left, for example). Here's what I'm thinking needs to be done (using the, landscape, blue square as the example): Figure out the difference between the black squares width and height Figure out the difference between the blue squares width and height This should tell me how much to crop the blue square by and with how much of a 'top offset' Once it's cropped to fit the black squares proportions, it can then be resized I've been messing around with code similar to: if (BLACK_WIDTH > BLACK_HEIGHT) { $diffHeight = BLACK_WIDTH - BLACK_HEIGHT; $newHeight = $blue_Height - $blue_Height; echo $newHeight; } And using Photoshop to try and get a feel for how this should be done, but it continues to fail .< How should I go about doing this? How can I figure out how much to crop by (depending on if the blue square is landscape or portrait)? How do I then get the offset to retain the blue squares center?

• I have a problem with a4j:commandButton and a reredering ...

  The code below show whiche thing that is failing in my appliaction. It is a quick add information form, fill out the form and submit it add a new entry into a database and synchronize my a databasle.. This is all done with ajax. The first form submission happens correctly but the second one fails to run the desired ActionListener. The second form is posting to the server though but the saveAction isn't invoke. As you will see, I'm a real beginner with this technologies ... • Simple Prototype.js code to select multiple elements with the same classname

  I have one link with an id of "link", and I use the javascript below to open that link up in a modalbox: #In my template I have: <a href="some/path" id="link">link</a> #Then in my application.js file I have: document.observe('dom:loaded', function() { $('login-link').observe('click', function(event) { event.stop(); Modalbox.show(this.href,{title: 'some title', width: 500}); }); }) Since id's must be unique, this javascript only works for one element per page so I use it to observe my login-link and it has served me well. Until now. I want to use the same javascript to observe multiple links which have classnames instead of id's as below: <a href="link/to/some/stuff" class="link">link 1</a> <a href="link/to/some/other/stuff" class="link">link 2</a> When I do this, I can't get any of the links to open in a modalbox. If I change the class to an id for each link, then I can get the first link in the list to open in a modalbox. I've tried to use the '$$' notation to build an array of links in my javascript (shown below) but if I do that, then none of the links open correctly #document.observe method removed for display purposes $$('link').observe('click', function(event) { event.stop(); Modalbox.show(this.href,{title: 'some title', width: 500} ); }); My javascript skills obviously suck. • After drawing circles on C# form how can i know on what circle i clicked?

  I have to represent graphically an oriented graph like in the image below. i have a C# form, when i click with the mouse on it i have to draw a node. If i click somewhere on the form where is not already a node drawn it means i cliked with the intetion of drawing a node, if it is a node there i must select it and memorize it. I thought of representing the nodes as buttons, having a tag or something similar as the node number(which in drawing should be 1 for Santa Barbara, 2 for Barstow etc.)

• a:hover background-postition problem

  For some reason, I am not entirely sure why, but the following is not working. The background position simply stays the same on hover. I cannot figure out why. • qTip jQuery Plugin not always Firing

  Hi, I am using the qTip jquery plugin qTip plugin for a website I'm working on based on another thread I raised here: stack overflow thread My question is, I have a navigation bar running along the top of my screen which is basically sets the title attribute based on the tab menu you are in, these are all stored within a javascript array. For example, I have three menu options running along the top of the screen, say Menu A, Menu B and Menu C. I also have an information image positioned at the rightmost position of the nav bar, which I set the title attribute, based on the Menu option selected in the Nav Bar. For example: Menu A => myRole[0] = "Admin" Menu B => myRole[1] = "Manager" Menu C => myRole[2] = "Guest" So basically as the user clicks on each of the menus in the nav bar, I set the title attribute in the information image to either "Admin","Manager" or "Guest". At startup, the qTip plugin works and displays "Admin" when I hover over it but when I change the menu to Menu C, it still displays "Admin" instead of "Guest" From the looks of it, it doesn't seem to be calling the qTip plugin, which I have positioned at the footer of the screen (see actual code below). • set a default saving data in a selection box in HABTM model

  here is my problem which in my system. my system allow user to add event, which include date, time, places. In the other hand, user are allow to choose the "Event sharing to" some of other user. So i successful to created and share to other user, when the user login which are being choose to share with the event, he is able to view for that particular event. But the problem is, when user add the event, he must choose for his own name also in the select box. If not he will be unable to read the event that he had created. • After rich:extendedDataTable sortby,otheractions are not getting executed

  I have a RichFaces UI which are having sidebar menu and sidebar had 8 links. I am using Seam @DataModel and @Factory and hibernate criteria to populate all the 8 pages. In all the pages i have sortby functionality which is working fine. I am able to get all data in all the 8 pages and I can freely navigate around all the links/xhtmls. But if in one of the xhtmlpages if I do sorting or groupby after that I am unable to navigate to other pages.If I select any other link the same last query which is executed for sorting is getting executed. Is this an issue? or do I need add any configuration. Please help me in solving this issue.
