  • Pros and cons of escaping strategies in symfony

    I am still not sure in that matter. While turned on we're quite safe but some other problems appear (with passing template variables or counting characters). On the other hand we have magic turned off, everything is clear, but we have to manually escape every variable (that come from untrusted source) in templates. By the way, non-magic solution is used in Ruby-on-Rails. So the question is: when starting a new project in symfony do you disable escaping_strategy and why?

  • safari and gzip

    I'm loading jQuery from google on my site (http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js) which is minned and gzip'd. In firefox, the jquery file shows as a 19k request, but Safari shows it as a 56k request. I'm assuming then that Safari is not accepting it as a gzip'd file. What's the deal? It's coming from google and I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be gzip'd

  • Ajax success function firing before java class responds

    I am creating a login function with ajax and am having an issue where the success function (SuccessLogin) fires before getting an ajax response. I am running the code as google web app from eclipse and I can see when debugging the java class file, that the javascript is throwing an alert for the success response from the class being false before the debugger catches the break point in the class file.     Hi all, I came across this issue or maybe something I didn't realize but I did a Begin Tran and had some code inside it and never ran a commit or rollback as I forgot about it. That caused all many of the database queries or even just a simple select top 1000 command were just sitting on loading..? Now it probably has put some locks on the tables I guess since it did not let me query them..but I just wanted to know what exactly happened and what are the practices to be followed here ?

  • Is there any way to load all UI controls before displaying? C# winform

    I have a complicate win form with lots of controls and bulky repaints, controls resizeing and positioning according to user screen, this causes the form to be shown while doing some rendering and repainting. Is there any way to load UI and prepare it before displaying??I mean showing final UI after the whole repainting events done.     For a simple simulation in C, I need to generate exponential random variables. I remember reading somewhere (but I can't find it now, and I don't remember why) that using the rand() function to generate random integers in a fixed range would generate non-uniformly distributed integers.     I am using a custom database (MongoDB) with TG 2.1 and i am wondering where the proper place to store the PyMongo connection/database instances would be? Eg, at the moment they are getting created inside of my inherited instance of AppConfig. Is there a standard location to store this? Would shoving the variables into the project.model.__init__ be the best location, given that under SQLAlchemy, the database seems to commonly be retrieved via: from project.model import DBSession, metadata Anyway, just curious what the best practice is.

    I installed ghostscript and updated the appropriate path variables ... however, I'm getting an error when I try to execute this command: C:\PROGRA~1\gs\gs8.64\lib>pdf2ps mydocument.pdf mydocument.ps Access is denied. Unable to open command line file _.at Is this the right command? did I miss some configuration or path setting? Otherwise, is there a sane method of doing this conversion? Thanks!

Now I try to select the language pack, which is installed by the "Typical" installation type according to the user's chosen setup language. My problem is, that I can't figure out, how to get the user's language selection. I already tried to access the variables $LANGUAGE and $mui.LangDLL.RegistryLanguage, as well as trying to compare a defined language string to a specific translation string, but without success.
