• How do you create multiple versions of an ActiveX control?

  Hopefully this is a straightforward question, but googling has proved fruitless (and frustrating, to say the least). Links to good documentation would be greatly appreciated. Here's the problem. We have a web application with an associated ActiveX control. (The control wraps a crufty old MFC application if it matters.) Moving forward, we expect to release multiple versions of this application, and each will have a corresponding version of the control. If someone accesses two versions of the web application, then that user should end up with two different versions of the control on his system. (The controls should play nice and not clobber each other.) In addition, I want to automate this process. Our system has a global version number that applies to all components. If we change the version number, the next build should produce a new version of the control. What's the best way to do this?

• Why is my onSharedPreferenceChangeListener being called multiple times when I change a pref.

  I've written an app with 3 tabs. Each tab has the same list view with different data sources. I have setup SharedPreferences in the tabhost activity, but I put my onSharedPreferenceChangeListener method in my listactivity. When I change a preference, my listener gets called and it updates my database. This is all working. However, if I change the data in tab 1, it calls my listener once. If I change the data for tab 2 it calls it twice and if I change the data in tab 3 it calls it three times. Any idea why it works this way? I guess I could setup my shared prefs in my listactivity and that might avoid the issue, but I'm curious why my listener is called multiple times if it's in a different tab. brockoli

  G'day guys, Trying currently to finish up a bit of homework I'm working on, and having an issue where I'm trying to apply map across a function that accepts multiple inputs. so in the case I'm using processList f (x:xs) = map accelerateList f xs x xs processList is given a floating value (f) and a List that it sorts into another List Accelerate List takes a floating value (f) a List and a List Object through which it returns another List Object I know my Accelerate List code is correct, but I cannot for the life of me get the syntax for this code working: processList :: Float -> [Object] -> [Object] accelerate f [] = [] accelerate f [x] = [(accelerateForce f x x)] accelerate f (x:xs) = map accelerateList f xs x xs Any ideas? I've been scratching my head for about 3 hours now. I know it's something really simple.

  i have these tables /entities VacationRequestDate table which has a VacationRequestId field that links with VacationRequest table VacationRequest has PersonId and RequestStatusId fields that links with Person and RequestStatus respectively. i have this query so far: IEnumerable<VacationRequestDate> dates = Session.Query<VacationRequestDate>().Fetch(r => r.VacationRequest).ThenFetch(p=>p.RequestStatus).ToList(); this works fine and joins with VacationRequest and then VacationRequest joins with RequestStatus but i can't figure out how to add an additional EAGER join to the VacationRequest table. If i add a Fetch at the end, it refers to the VacationRequestDate table If i add a ThenFetch at the end, it refers to the RequestStatus table I can't find any api that will refer to the VacationRequest table as the reference point. how would you add multiple joins to a joined table using nhibernate LINQ ?

  Can a user be a member of multiple Organization Units (OU) in Active Directory ? Also, is there a standard format mentioned by Microsoft on how an OU should be created and what its attributes are ? I found this in Wikipedia "However, Organizational Units are just an abstraction for the administrator, and do not function as true containers; the underlying domain operates as if objects were all created in a simple flat-file structure, without any OUs. It is not possible for example to create two user accounts with an identical username in two separate OUs, such as "fred.staff-ou.domain" and "fred.student-ou.domain"."

• Is it possible to raise an error if a variable assignment in a select returns multiple values?

  I just found a bug on one of my softwares where I had forgotten a where clause. The code was something like that : declare @foo bigint declare @bar bigint select @foo = foo, @bar=bar from tbFooBar where (....a long list of condition goes there) (... and an extra condition should have went there but I forgot it) Unfortunately, the where clause I forgot was useful in very specific corner cases and the code went through testing successfully. Eventually, the query returned two values instead of one, and the resulting bug was a nightmare to track down (as it was very difficult to reproduce, and it wasn't obvious at all that this specific stored procedure was causing the issue we spotted) Debugging would have been a lot easier if the @foo=foo had raised an exception instead of silently assigning the first value out of multiple rows. Why is that this way? I can't think of a situation where one would actually want to do that without raising an error (bearing in mind the clauses 'distinct' and 'top' are there for a reason) And is there a way to make sql server 2008 raise an error if this situation occurs ?

  Hello, it's not the first time I'm having this problem and its really bugging me. Whenever I open a pipe using the Python subprocess module, I can only communicate with it once, as the documentation specifies: Read data from stdout and stderr, until end-of-file is reached proc = sub.Popen("psql -h darwin -d main_db".split(),stdin=sub.PIPE,stdout=sub.PIPE) print proc.communicate("select a,b,result from experiment_1412;\n")[0] print proc.communicate("select theta,zeta,result from experiment_2099\n")[0] The problem here is that the second time, Python isn't happy.   Say you have a JMS queue, and multiple consumers are watching the queue for messages. You want one of the consumers to get all of a particular type of message, so you decide to employ message selectors. For example, you define a property to go in your JMS message header named, "targetConsumer." Your message selector, which you apply to the consumer known as, "A," is something like "WHERE targetConsumer = "CONSUMER_A." It's clear that consumer A will now just grab messages with the property set like it is in in the example. Will the other consumers have awareness of that, though? IOW, will another consumer, unconstrained by a message selector, grab the "CONSUMER_A" messages, if it looks at the queue before Consumer A? Do I need to apply message selectors like, "WHERE targetConsumer < "CONSUMER_A" to the others? I am RTFMing and gathering empirical data now, but was hoping someone might know off the top of their head.

The aim is to use this as a search tool to allow me to filter results to product IDs only matching the requested feature set. A query of SELECT feature_id FROM product_features WHERE feature_finder_id = '1' AND feature_status_yn = 'y' will return all of the features of a given product. But how can I select all products (feature_product_id) that have a 'y' value when they are on separate lines? Multiple queries might be one way to do it, but I'm wondering whether there's a more elegant solution based purely in SQL.

All they are intended to work with one SQL Server database, generated from an Entity Framework 4 model as table-per-type, with lots of inheritance and multiple self-referencing relations. Where do I best put my model? In a separate class library, a copy in every project, in one project, etc. What naming should I best use? Is it good idea to name it MySolution.MyClassLibrary.MySolutionEntities, or just MySolutionEntities or just MySolution? Can you share any useful experience on this subject?

  I am looking for a pseudo-code solution to what is effectively the Multiple Knapsack Problem (optimisation statement is halfway down the page). I think this problem is NP Complete so the solution doesn't need to be optimal, rather if it is fairly efficient and easily implemented that would be good. The problem is this: I have many work items, with each taking a different (but fixed and known) amount of time to complete. I need to divide these work items into groups so as to have the smallest number of groups (ideally), with each group of work items taking no longer than a given total threshold - say 1 hour. I am flexible about the threshold - it doesnt need to be rigidly applied, though should be close. My idea was to allocate work items into bins where each bin represents 90% of the threshold, 80%, 70% and so on. I could then match items that take 90% to those that take 10%, and so on. Any better ideas?

These areas won't have buttons or any graphics - they'll be invisible. 3 different methods will be called depending on which third of the cell the user taps i.e. || decrementFooCount || viewFooDetails || incrementFooCount || The cell has a few labels on it that need to be visible at all times - the fooName and fooCount. I'm thinking perhaps three hidden UIButtons over the cell? I also need to maintain the swipe to delete default behavior.

  I've been told by a client that "a friend" told them that as of January 2010, Google allows multiple domain names that have keywords in them to be associated with a single site. To be honest this sounds rather April-foolish but I'm not sure when his "friend" told him so for the time being I have to take it at face value. I've heard nothing of this and have searched for such a thing this morning, to find nothing but warnings against this practice. Said client seems keen on buying up lots of domains today, so before he insists upon it I just want to be absolutely sure - has Google silently introduced such an allowance, or is there something else they introduced earlier this year that he could be getting confused with? We have set up a document library that, by default, gives everyone access to everything. This is the desired top-level permission set because most items will work well this way. The problem is that I have a bunch of documents I want to add and apply some specific permissions to. I can do this, but...please tell me there is some way I can do this for multiple documents at the same time. Attempting to do this one-by-one is a pain and I'm hoping for a better solution here.   Hello All, I have an ASP.NET 3.5 webforms project written in VB that involves a multi-table SQL Server insert. That is, I want the customer to input all their contact information, order details etc. into one control (thinking wizard control). Then, I want to call a stored procedure that does the insert into the respective database tables. I'm familiar and comfortable with the ASP.NET wizard control. However, all the examples I've seen in my searches pertain to inserting data into one table. Questions: 1. Given a typical order process - customer information, order information, order details - should a wizard control be used to insert data into multiple database tables? If not, what controls/workflow do you suggest? 2. I've set primary keys and indexes on my order details, orders and customers tables. Is there special stored procedure syntax to use to ensure that referential integrity is maintained through the insert process? Thanks, Sid

• How can I change my code in Excel 2003 to allow me to paste to multiple cells?

  Ran in to a little problem. If I try to paste to multiple cells that are in the range in the code below, I get a run time error 13, type mismatch. The cells in the range may have data other than X but I only want the hyperlink to appear if the cell contains X. It works fine if I just type an X in the cell or if I paste to one cell at a time. I will have times when I want to paste other text to mutiple cells in this range. Thanks to Remnant for his help on the original code. This one last hurdle will put me in the clear. Thx. I have a dozen or so subdomains. sub1.website.com sub2.website.com and the folder structure like this \website\sub1 \website\sub2 If i need to run the same app for all of the subdomains, what would be the best appoach? Host is in the root \website\ and have it figure out where to look based on the "user"? (i imagine i need to implement de logic in the code) OR Just copy the app in each of the subdomains, and have the app "not knowing" that it is actually an instance? (this would mean that when i update the app, i have to copy it everywhere) What other approaches are there to this kind of issue? Each app will use a different database name so that will need to we coded in somekind of external file.

  I want to have multiple scripts running from cron at the same time. They will all update, say, 500 rows with a unique status ID for that particular script to use. If each script grabs the same type of rows to update, and the scripts run at once, will there be interference between the queries run at the same time? For example, using this query: UPDATE table SET status = <unique script ID> WHERE status = 0 LIMIT 500 Will I get the same rows updating more than once? I'm trying to get each script to get unique rows. I was thinking of using sleep() to make the queries run at different times, but I'm not sure if that's necessary. Thanks.

But I don't want C# code to be dependant on the physical sequence of the recordsets returned, in order to do it's job. So my question is, "Is there a way to determine which set of records from a multiplerecordset resultset am I currently processing?" I know I could probably decipher this indirectly by looking for a unique column name or something per resultset, but I think/hope there is a better way. P.S. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro & SQL Server 2008 Express Edition.

  We are developing an application that communicates, via web services or TCP/IP sockets, with multiple servers (up to 50 different external companies). Basically, the exchanged messages are the same (XML), but depending on the inputs of our application we should call 1 or more external servers. The benefits we would expect of introducing a Service Bus in the architecture would be: 1- Remove the need to manage all point-to-point configurations (all the 50 endpoints); 2- Simplify the communication layer of our application by having only one server to talk to; Is a Service Bus a good architectural option for this scenario? What is the best (simplest) Service Bus for this kind of communication? I read a few MSDN articles on Azure Service Bus Relay, but it didn’t seem to fit our needs. Am I wrong? Thanks for your help.

  Is it possible to use multiple header types in one document? For example: header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); returns the whole page as text/html... while header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); Returns the whole page as an image.... How can I use both types of content on the same page? I'm using ob_start() at the top and ob_end_flush() at the beginning.
