• COMException in System.WIndows.Forms.dll with Interactive Brokers TWS API

  Hi, I've been trying to run the sample project provided with the tutorial at stockbotprogramming http://www.stockbotprogramming.com/sharpcibtutorial1.php , but I keep getting a COMException every time I run the application. • How does real-time collaboration with multiple clients work in a system using operation transformati

  I just finished reading High-Latency, Low-Bandwidth Windowing in the Jupiter Collaboration System and I mostly followed everything until part 6: global consistency. This part describes how the system described in the paper can be extended to accomodate for multiple clients connected to the server. However, the explanation is very short and essentially says the system will work if the central server merely forwards client messages to all the other clients. I don't really understand how this works though. What state vector would be sent in the message that is sent to all the other clients? Does the server maintain separate state vectors for each client? Does it maintain a separate copy of the widgets locally for each client? The simple example I can think of is this setup: imagine client A, server, and client B with client A and client B both connected to the server. To start, all three have the state object "ABCD". Then, client A sends the message "insert character F at position 0" at the same time client B sends the message "insert character G at position 0" to the server. It seems like simply relaying client A's message to client B and vice versa doesn't actually handle this case. So what exactly does the server do?

• Access Denied while using System.Diagnostics.Process

  I am trying to use the unmanaged ImageMagick library in my ASP.NET application from the command line using System.Diagnostics.Process. Basically, users will upload an .eps file to the site, and then I will run the command line command to convert it into .jpg. I get the error "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Access is denied". The main between the two servers is that the production is 64-bit and runs Plesk to manage multiple domains. I've tried adding rights asp.net user to the ImageMagick directory. The PS Admin says that in the case of Plesk, it's the same account that I use to access the site in VS using FPE. Does anyone know what I might do in order to allow this process to run on my production server? Thanks, Mike

  I have a remote share in windows 7 and accessing the same share from windows 2008. • Using a version control system as a data backend

  I'm involved in a project that, among other things, involves storing edits and changes to a large hierarchical document (HTML-formatted text). We want to include versioning of textual changes and of structural changes. Currently we're maintaining the tree of document sections in a relational database, but as we start working on how to manage versioning of structural changes, it's clear that we're in danger of having to write a lot of the functionality that a version control system provides. We don't want to reinvent the wheel. Is it possible that we could use an existing version control system as the data store, at least for the document itself? Presumably we could do so by writing out new versions to the filesystem, and keeping that directory under version control (and programmatically doing commits and so forth) but it would be better if we could directly interact with the repository via code. The VCS that we are most familiar with is Subversion, but I'm not thrilled with how Subversion represents changes to the directory structure -- it would be nice if we could see that a particular revision included moving a section from Chapter 2 to Chapter 6, rather than just seeing a new version of the tree. This sounds more like the way a system like Mercurial handles changes to the structure. Any advice? Do VCS's have public APIs and so forth? The project is in Java (with Spring) if it matters.

• Crash on iOS when system purges memory and closes a UIViewController

  My application is crashing when one of the views is purged from memory because of low-memory condition. At least this is what I understand from the crashlog. It happens on numerous screens but only when opening a Facebook dialog (using the Facebook SDK). Basically, looks like the system sometimes runs out of memory when we need to present a Facebook dialog (e.g. to let user post something on the Facebook timeline). So I don't believe this is caused by the application. I guess that when the phone is not restarted for some time there are applications running in the background and when using Facebook SDK the memory becomes a problem and the system tries to recover the memory from random applications, including my application. My question is, how can I prevent this crash from happening? How should I handle unloadViewForced on a view controller to make the app more robust in low-memory conditions? And lastly, am I right that this crashlog suggests the crash occurred because the system tried to free memory and my application didn't handle it properly? Any help greatly appreciated.

• How to find problem with PHP XSLTProcessor when return from transformToXML is false and libxml_get_

  I'm working on the code below to allow HTTP user agents that cannot perform XSL transformations to view the resources on my server. I'm mystified because the result of transformToXML is false, but the result of libxml_get_errors() is an empty array. As you can see, the code outputs the LibXSLT version ID and I'm getting the problem on WinVista with version 1.1.24. Is libxml_get_errors() not the right function to get the errors from the XSLTProcessor object? I can change command to ...prefetch_related("child__child__child...")... then still a new query running for every depth of child-parent relationship. • Literal ampersands in System.Uri query string

  I'm working on a client app that uses a restful service to look up companies by name. It's important that I'm able to include literal ampersands in my queries since this character is quite common in company names. However whenever I pass %26 (the URI escaped ampersand character) to System.Uri, it converts it back to a regular ampersand character! On closer inspection, the only two characters that aren't converted back are hash (%23) and percent (%25). Lets say I want to search for a company named "Pierce & Pierce": var endPoint = "http://localhost/companies?where=Name eq '{0}'"; var name = "Pierce & Pierce"; Console.WriteLine(new Uri(string.Format(endPoint, name))); Console.WriteLine(new Uri(string.Format(endPoint, Uri.EscapeUriString(name)))); Console.WriteLine(new Uri(string.Format(endPoint, Uri.EscapeDataString(name)))); All three of the above combinations return: http://localhost/companies?where=Name eq 'Pierce & Pierce' This causes errors on the server side since the ampersand is (correctly) interpreted as a query arg delimiter. What I really need it to return is the original string: http://localhost/companies?where=Name eq 'Pierce %26 Pierce' How can I work around this behavior without discarding System.Uri entirely? I can't replace all ampersands with %26 at the last moment because there will usually be multiple query args involved and I don't want to destroy their delimiters. Note: A similar problem was discussed in this question but I'm specifically referring to System.Uri.

My question is: Do I need to change the schema a different way to make this work? Or is there something I can add/change/delete to the generated code or annotations?   Hi there I have the following XML: <data> <page id="1118"> <itms> <values> <value>1104</value> </values> </itms> </page> <page id="1177"> <itms> <values> <value>1273</value> <value>1215</value> </values> </itms> </page> </data> I need to get the @id from the < page , where a certain value is present in one of the < value -tags. The id that need to be in the < value is kept in this: $itm/@id. This means that if my $itm/@id is equal to 1273, I need to get 1177 returned. I'm not quite sure how to achieve this. Actually I could have XML that looks like this as well: <data> <page id="1118"> <itms> <values> <value>1104</value> </values> </itms> </page> <page id="1177"> <itms> <values> <value>1273</value> <value>1215</value> </values> </itms> </page> <page id="1352"> <itms> <values> <value>1242</value> <value>1273</value> </values> </itms> </page> </data> If that's the case, I need the latest id, so this means that if the $itm/@id matches values in more < page 's, then I need to grab the value from the latest page. SQL Server 2k5 DB: Will hold the announcements along with records of staff members and if they've read the announcements etc. Front End: Created in WPF & C# which is nearly complete, it will display the announcements to the users. Web Page: Client will contact every so often, which will return an xml file for the client to read. However my boss has now shifted the goal posts and would like the announcements to appear to the user once they are written to the database, rather than waiting on the client to contact the webpage. So now I'm a bit unsure as to how to go about this. I have one idea where I would create a small server application to monitor for new announcements then contact the clients to inform them to approach the website for the information they need. But I'm just looking to see if theres a better or more efficient way to do this or if someone else has a more appropriate idea or suggestion.
