• [Bash] Save part of matching pattern to variable

  I want to extract a substring matching a pattern and save it to a file. An example string: Apr 12 19:24:17 PC_NMG kernel: sd 11:0:0:0: [sdf] Attached SCSI removable disk I want to extract the part between the brackets, in this case []. I tried to do something like grep -e '[$subtext]' to save the text in the brackets to a variable. Of course it doesn't work, but I am looking for a way similar to this. It would be very elegant to include a variable in a regex like this. What can I do best? Thanks!

• Python raises a KeyError (for an out of dictionary key) even though the key IS in the dictionary

  I'm getting a KeyError for an out of dictionary key, even though I know the key IS in fact in the dictionary. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? print G.keys() returns the following: ['24', '25', '20', '21', '22', '23', '1', '3', '2', '5', '4', '7', '6', '9', '8', '11', '10', '13', '12', '15', '14', '17', '16', '19', '18'] but when I try to access a value in the dictionary on the next line of code... for w in G[v]: #note that in this example, v = 17 I get the following error message: KeyError: 17 Any help, tips, or advice are all appreciated.   Is LocalDB supported by Visual Studio 2010 in Entity Framework 5, on .NET 4.0? Or am I doing it wrong? I'm getting a "The network path can't be found" issue when instantiating my model container with a connection string for LocalDB. Still receiving the same error-message.

  I've looked around and can't quite grasp the whole answer to this SQL query question needed to extract data from an MS Access 2000 table. Here's an example of what the table [Time Sub] looks like: CLIENT_ID, DATE_ENTERED, CODE, MINUTES 11111, 5/12/2008 3:50:52 PM, M, 38 11111, 5/12/2008 2:55:50 PM, M, 2 11714, 5/13/2008 1:15:32 PM, M, 28 11111, 5/13/2008 6:15:12 PM, W, 11 11112, 5/12/2008 2:50:52 PM, M, 89 11112, 5/12/2008 5:10:52 PM, M, 9 91112, 5/14/2008 1:10:52 PM, L, 96 11112, 5/12/2008 5:11:52 PM, M, 12 I need to select the first entry of each day per client that's NOT code L or W.   We are using Sybase SQL Anywhere 11. We need to encrypt some of our tables in our database. I followed the instruction and did it. We selected the "strong" option with encryptionKey and AES256_FIPS algorithm. But there are something I am not clear about them. It will require encryptonKey when we create the database, remove the database and start the database server but it will NOT require encryptionKey when we stop the database server and connect to the server to create tables and add data. Why there is NO encryptionKey asked when we connect to it or try to stop the server? I am doing something wrong? don't know how to test the encryption? I still can see all plain text in the encrypted tables when I use Sybase Central tool. If somebody knows the database user name and password, he/she can connect to the database and read the content without the encryptionKey. is this right?

  i need a dropdownlist to show current month and year (January 2010) till January 2011, and an additional record of January 2011 +. I have the regex: @spaceCode = "[A-Z]([A-Z0-9][0-9]|[0-9])" @moveCode=/^(?<one>#{@spaceCode})((?<mode>x|\-)(?<two>#{@spaceCode}))+$/ However I get: s="A11-A22xA33".scan(@moveCode) => [["A11", "11", "xA33", "x", "A33", "33"]] which is most definatly NOT what I want. The string could be any length of C22 etc, with either x or - as the seperator, and put it into an array like: ['A22','x',B22','-'.......] Examples: "A22xB23-D23xE25" => ['A22','x','B23','=','D23','E25;] "AA2xA9-A1" => ['AA2','x','A9','-','A1']

  I have an NSArray of NSNumbers with integer values such as [1,10,3]. I want to get the sum of all the possible subsets of these numbers. For example for 1,10 and 3 i would get: 1, 10, 3, 1+10=11, 1+3=4, 10+3=13, 1+10+3=14 there are 2^n possible combinations. I understand the math of it but im having difficulties putting this into code. so how can i put this into a method that would take the initial array of numbers and return an array with all the sums of the subsets? e.g -(NSArray *) getSums:(NSArray *)numbers; I understand that the results grow exponentially but im going to be using it for small sets of numbers.

  I've been trying to estimate the size of an Access table with a certain number of records. It has 4 Longs (4 bytes each), and a Currency (8 bytes). In theory: 1 Record = 24 bytes, 500,000 = ~11.5MB However, the accdb file (even after compacting) increases by almost 30MB (~61 bytes per record). A few extra bytes for padding wouldn't be so bad, but 2.5X seems a bit excessive - even for Microsoft bloat. What's with the discrepancy? The four longs are compound keys, would that matter?

  I made this simple function (remove all $elem from $array): function remall($array, $elem) { for($i=0; $i < count($array); $i++) if($array[$i] == $elem) unset($array[$i]); $newarray = array_values($array); return $newarray; } But it isn't working perfectly, here are some inputs and outputs $u = array(1, 7, 2, 7, 3, 7, 4, 7, 5, 7, 6, 7); $r = remall($u, 7); Output of $r: 12345767 $n = array(7, 7, 1, 7, 3, 4, 6, 7, 2, 3, 1, -3, 10, 11, 7, 7, 7, 2, 7); $r = remall($n, 7); Output of $r: 1346231-30117727 Notice how there are still 7s in my outputs. Also, My function will only be removing numbers from an array. Let me know if you spot something, thanks.

  I have several TEXT and/or MEDIUMTEXT fields in each of our 1000 MySQL tables. I now know that TEXT fields are written to disk rather than in memory when queried. Is that also true even if that field is not called in the query? For example, if I have a table (tbExam) with 2 fields (id int(11) and comment text) and I run SELECT id FROM tbExam, does MySQL still have to write that to disk before returning results or will it run that query in memory? I am trying to figure out if I need to reconfigure our actual db tables to switch to varchar(xxxx) or keep the text fields and reconfigure the queries.

For which I would have to apply filter date: 'hh:mm a' I tried ng-model="labor.start_time | date: 'hh:mm a'" Please let me know how i can show only time portion in input box showin time only.   I have a submenu that has all items linked to the same node, but with different additional parameters, for ex: ... <li...><a href = "/?q=page1&filter=10" class = "... active">Item1</a></li> <li...><a href = "/?q=page1&filter=11" class = "... active">Item2</a></li> ... in this case all items have class 'active' and none of them has class 'active-trail'. • Why don't hardware failures show up at the programming language level?

  I am wondering if anyone can give my a good answer, or at least point me in the direction of a good reference to the following question: How come I have never heard of a computer breaking in a very fundamental way? How come when I declare x to be a double it stays as a double? How come there is never a short circuit that robs it of some bytes and makes it an integer? Why do we have faith that when we initialize x to 10, there will never be a power surge that will cause it to become 11, or something similar? I think I need a better understanding of memory. Thanks, and please don't bash me over the head for such a simple/abstract question.
