  • Internal class and access to external members.

    - by Knowing me knowing you
    I always thought that internal class has access to all data in its external class but having code: template<class T> class Vector { template<class T> friend std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream& out, const Vector<T>& obj); private: T** myData_; std::size_t myIndex_; std::size_t mySize_; public: Vector():myData_(nullptr), myIndex_(0), mySize_(0) { } Vector(const Vector<T>& pattern); void insert(const T&); Vector<T> makeUnion(const Vector<T>&)const; Vector<T> makeIntersection(const Vector<T>&)const; class Iterator : public std::iterator<std::bidirectional_iterator_tag,T> { private: T** itData_; public: Iterator()//<<<<<<<<<<<<<------------COMMENT { /*HERE I'M TRYING TO USE ANY MEMBER FROM Vector<T> AND I'M GETTING ERR SAYING: ILLEGAL CALL OF NON-STATIC MEMBER FUNCTION*/} Iterator(T** ty) { itData_ = ty; } Iterator operator++() { return ++itData_; } T operator*() { return *itData_[0]; } bool operator==(const Iterator& obj) { return *itData_ == *obj.itData_; } bool operator!=(const Iterator& obj) { return *itData_ != *obj.itData_; } bool operator<(const Iterator& obj) { return *itData_ < *obj.itData_; } }; typedef Iterator iterator; iterator begin()const { assert(mySize_ > 0); return myData_; } iterator end()const { return myData_ + myIndex_; } }; See line marked as COMMENT. So can I or I can't use members from external class while in internal class? Don't bother about naming, it's not a Vector it's a Set. Thank you.

  • Passing a string when starting a class in PHP

    - by Francesc
    Hi. First I have to say: Happy Christmas to All! I'm starting learning classes in PHP. I coded that: class User { function getFbId($authtoken) { } function getFbFirstName ($authtoken) { } } What I want to do is something like that: $user=new User($authtoken); And pass the $authtoken to the class. It's possible to define that when starting the class. It's possible to retrive that value inside a function of that class?

  • Python 3: list atributes within a class object

    - by MadSc13ntist
    is there a way that if the following class is created; I can grab a list of attributes that exist. (this class is just an bland example, it is not my task at hand) class new_class(): def __init__(self, number): self.multi = int(number) * 2 self.str = str(number) a = new_class(2) print(', '.join(a.SOMETHING)) * the attempt is that "multi, str" will print. the point here is that if a class object has attributes added at different parts of a script that I can grab a quick listing of the attributes which are defined.

  • Initiate a PHP class where class name is a variable

    - by ed209
    I need some help with an error I have not encountered before and can't seem to find anywhere. In a PHP mvc framework (just from a tutorial) I have the following: // Initiate the class $className = 'Controller_' . ucfirst($controller); if (class_exists($className)) { $controller = new $className($this->registry); } $className is showing the correct class name (case is also correct). But when I run it I get this in the apache error log (no php error) [Wed Mar 31 10:34:12 2010] [notice] child pid 987 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Process id is different on every call. I am running PHP 5.3.0 on os x 10.6. This site seems to work on 5.2.11 on another Mac. Not really sure where to go next to debug it. I guess it could be an apache setting as much as a php bug or a problem with the code... any suggestions on where to look next?

  • Using EC2 instance as main development platform

    - by David
    My problem I am working as a consultant for various companies. Each company provides me with a laptop with their software on and I also have my own, where I have my development environment. I tend to buy a new laptop every second year and find myself spending lots of time configuring and installing software. I also spend a lot of time waiting for my laptop to process things. To solve all these issues, I am now considering using EC2 (running windows instances) as my main development platform and just access this from any PC I happen to be at. I calculated that running the Large instance (cheapest 64-bit) for 8 hours a day for a year costs me 960$ per year, which is acceptable. I imagine that when I approach the workplace each day, I will make a single tap on my phone to fire up the instance, so it is ready when I get to work. I should have different icons on my phone to fire up the various instance types. The same software should of course automatically be loaded on the various hardware (sometimes I would even need their instance with 68.4 GB of memory). Another advantage is that if I am having a specific problem with my instance, I could fire up another instance and have someone look into the problem and update the image. My question: Does anyone have experience with such a setup on EC2? What kind of problems do you foresee?

  • How are larger games organized?

    - by Matthew G.
    I'm using Java, but the language I'm using here is probably irrelevant. I'd like to create an economy based on an ancient civilization. I'm not sure how to design it. If I were working on a smaller game, like a copy of "Space Invaders", I'd have no problem structuring it like this. Game -Main Control Class --Graphics Class --Player Class --Enemy class I'd pass the graphics class to both the player and enemy class so they could call graphics functions. I don't understand how I'd do this for larger projects. Do I create a country class that contains a bunch of towns? Do the towns contain a lot building class, most contain classes of people? Do I make a path finding class that the player can access to get around? How exactly do I structure this and pass all these references around? Thanks.

  • Email function using templates. Includes via ob_start and global vars

    - by Geo
    I have a simple Email() class. It's used to send out emails from my website. <? Email::send($to, $subj, $msg, $options); ?> I also have a bunch of email templates written in plain HTML pierced with a few PHP variables. E.g. /inc/email/templates/account_created.php: <p>Dear <?=$name?>,</p> <p>Thank you for creating an account at <?=$SITE_NAME?>. To login use the link below:</p> <p><a href="https://<?=$SITE_URL?>/account" target="_blank"><?=$SITE_NAME?>/account</a></p> In order to have the PHP vars rendered I had to include the template into my function. But since include does not return the contents but rather just sends it directly to the output, I had to wrap it with the buffer functions: <? abstract class Email { public static function send($to, $subj, $msg, $options = array()) { /* ... */ ob_start(); include '/inc/email/templates/account_created.php'; $msg = ob_get_clean(); /* ... */ } } After that I realized that the PHP vars are not rendered as they are being inside of the function scope, so I had to globalize the variables inside of the template: <? global $SITE_NAME, $SITE_URL, $name; ?> <p>Dear <?=$name?>,</p> ... So the question is whether there is a more elegant solution to this? Mainly I am concerned about my workarounds using ob_start() and global. For some reason that seems to me odd. Or this is pretty much the common practice?

  • Refactoring a leaf class to a base class, and keeping it also a interface implementation

    - by elcuco
    I am trying to refactor a working code. The code basically derives an interface class into a working implementation, and I want to use this implementation outside the original project as a standalone class. However, I do not want to create a fork, and I want the original project to be able to take out their implementation, and use mine. The problem is that the hierarchy structure is very different and I am not sure if this would work. I also cannot use the original base class in my project, since in reality it's quite entangled in the project (too many classes, includes) and I need to take care of only a subdomain of the problems the original project is. I wrote this code to test an idea how to implement this, and while it's working, I am not sure I like it: #include <iostream> // Original code is: // IBase -> Derived1 // I need to refactor Derive2 to be both indipendet class // and programmers should also be able to use the interface class // Derived2 -> MyClass + IBase // MyClass class IBase { public: virtual void printMsg() = 0; }; /////////////////////////////////////////////////// class Derived1 : public IBase { public: virtual void printMsg(){ std::cout << "Hello from Derived 1" << std::endl; } }; ////////////////////////////////////////////////// class MyClass { public: virtual void printMsg(){ std::cout << "Hello from MyClass" << std::endl; } }; class Derived2: public IBase, public MyClass{ virtual void printMsg(){ MyClass::printMsg(); } }; class Derived3: public MyClass, public IBase{ virtual void printMsg(){ MyClass::printMsg(); } }; int main() { IBase *o1 = new Derived1(); IBase *o2 = new Derived2(); IBase *o3 = new Derived3(); MyClass *o4 = new MyClass(); o1->printMsg(); o2->printMsg(); o3->printMsg(); o4->printMsg(); return 0; } The output is working as expected (tested using gcc and clang, 2 different C++ implementations so I think I am safe here): [elcuco@pinky ~/src/googlecode/qtedit4/tools/qtsourceview/qate/tests] ./test1 Hello from Derived 1 Hello from MyClass Hello from MyClass Hello from MyClass [elcuco@pinky ~/src/googlecode/qtedit4/tools/qtsourceview/qate/tests] ./test1.clang Hello from Derived 1 Hello from MyClass Hello from MyClass Hello from MyClass The question is My original code was: class Derived3: public MyClass, public IBase{ virtual void IBase::printMsg(){ MyClass::printMsg(); } }; Which is what I want to express, but this does not compile. I must admit I do not fully understand why this code work, as I expect that the new method Derived3::printMsg() will be an implementation of MyClass::printMsg() and not IBase::printMsg() (even tough this is what I do want). How does the compiler chooses which method to re-implement, when two "sister classes" have the same virtual function name? If anyone has a better way of implementing this, I would like to know as well :)

  • Reducing unnecessary same values in Class member variables ....

    - by Freshblood
    class A { public int a; public int c; } i will create 10 instances from A.Then i will create 15 instances from A again... go on. first 10 instance will have same value for a variable and next 15 instances will have again same value for a.But I don't mean that both group has same values for a .Problem is create same a value 10 times in first group and 15 times in second group on memory unnecessary. What would be Best solution or solutions for reduce unnecessary datas in this situation?

  • How does a template class inherit another template class?

    - by hkBattousai
    I have a "SquareMatrix" template class which inherits "Matrix" template class, like below: SquareMatrix.h: #ifndef SQUAREMATRIX_H #define SQUAREMATRIX_H #include "Matrix.h" template <class T> class SquareMatrix : public Matrix<T> { public: T GetDeterminant(); }; template <class T> // line 49 T SquareMatrix<T>::GetDeterminant() { T t = 0; // Error: Identifier "T" is undefined // line 52 return t; // Error: Expected a declaration // line 53 } // Error: Expected a declaration // line 54 #endif I commented out all other lines, the files contents are exactly as above. I receive these error messages: LINE 49: IntelliSense: expected a declaration LINE 52: IntelliSense: expected a declaration LINE 53: IntelliSense: expected a declaration LINE 54: error C2039: 'GetDeterminant' : is not a member of 'SquareMatrix' LINE 54: IntelliSense: expected a declaration So, what is the correct way of inheriting a template class? And what is wrong with this code? The "Matrix" class: template <class T> class Matrix { public: Matrix(uint64_t unNumRows = 0, uint64_t unNumCols = 0); void GetDimensions(uint64_t & unNumRows, uint64_t & unNumCols) const; std::pair<uint64_t, uint64_t> GetDimensions() const; void SetDimensions(uint64_t unNumRows, uint64_t unNumCols); void SetDimensions(std::pair<uint64_t, uint64_t> Dimensions); uint64_t GetRowSize(); uint64_t GetColSize(); void SetElement(T dbElement, uint64_t unRow, uint64_t unCol); T & GetElement(uint64_t unRow, uint64_t unCol); //Matrix operator=(const Matrix & rhs); // Compiler generate this automatically Matrix operator+(const Matrix & rhs) const; Matrix operator-(const Matrix & rhs) const; Matrix operator*(const Matrix & rhs) const; Matrix & operator+=(const Matrix & rhs); Matrix & operator-=(const Matrix & rhs); Matrix & operator*=(const Matrix & rhs); T& operator()(uint64_t unRow, uint64_t unCol); const T& operator()(uint64_t unRow, uint64_t unCol) const; static Matrix Transpose (const Matrix & matrix); static Matrix Multiply (const Matrix & LeftMatrix, const Matrix & RightMatrix); static Matrix Add (const Matrix & LeftMatrix, const Matrix & RightMatrix); static Matrix Subtract (const Matrix & LeftMatrix, const Matrix & RightMatrix); static Matrix Negate (const Matrix & matrix); // TO DO: static bool IsNull(const Matrix & matrix); static bool IsSquare(const Matrix & matrix); static bool IsFullRowRank(const Matrix & matrix); static bool IsFullColRank(const Matrix & matrix); // TO DO: static uint64_t GetRowRank(const Matrix & matrix); static uint64_t GetColRank(const Matrix & matrix); protected: std::vector<T> TheMatrix; uint64_t m_unRowSize; uint64_t m_unColSize; bool DoesElementExist(uint64_t unRow, uint64_t unCol); };

  • How to load and pass a Xforms form in Orbeon (How to Send instance to XForms) ?

    - by Clem
    Hi, I am using the Orbeon Forms solution to generate messages from filled-in web forms. I read different code snippetse in Orbeon's wiki on XForms submission from a pipeline, and I tried different solutions but it doesn't work, and there is no example with a POST from a pipeline, caught by a PFC and sent to an XForms view that receives the posted data (all examples are done in the same page). I have the following pipeline which is received on his instance input: pipelineWrite.xpl <p:config ...> <p:param name="instance" type="input"/> <!-- instance containing the data of the form filled by user --> <p:param name="data" type="output"/> <p:processor name="oxf:java"> <!-- transforms the data into a file --> <p:input name="config"> <config sourcepath="." class="ProcessorWriteCUSDECCD001B"/> </p:input> <p:input name="input" href="#instance"/> <p:output name="output" id="file"/> <!-- XML containing the url of the file --> </p:processor> <p:processor name="oxf:xforms-submission"> <!-- post the XML to the success view --> <p:input name="submission"> <xforms:submission method="post" action="/CUSDECCD001B/success" /> </p:input> <p:input name="request" href="#file"/> <p:output name="response" ref="data"/> </p:processor> </p:config> Then there is the PFC which catch the actions : page-flow.xml <config xmlns="http://www.orbeon.com/oxf/controller"> <page path-info="/CUSDECCD001B/" view="View/ViewForm.xhtml"/> <!-- load the form to be filled in by user --> <page path-info="/CUSDECCD001B/write" model="Controller/PipelineWrite.xpl"/> <!-- send the instance of the form filled to the pipeline above --> <page path-info="/CUSDECCD001B/success" view="View/ViewSuccess.xhtml"/> <!-- send the instance containing the url of the file to the success view --> <epilogue url="oxf:/config/epilogue.xpl"/> </config> Then there is the success view, which is very simple : ViewSuccess.xhtml <html ... > <head> <title>Generation OK</title> <xforms:model> <xforms:instance id="FILE" src="input:instance"> <files xmlns=""> <file mediaType="" filename="" size="" /> </files> </xforms:instance> </xforms:model> </head> <body> Click here to download : <xforms:output ref="//file" appearance="xxforms:download"> <xforms:filename ref="@filename"/> <xforms:mediatype ref="@mediatype"/> <xforms:label>Download</xforms:label> </xforms:output> </body> </html> The problem is that the post is done well, the PFC catches the action well, load the correct view, but the view is loaded with no data (the view doesn't find the data on his instance input). I tried with a GET in the view to retrieve the POST data, and that's the same thing. No data is retrieved. So the download button doesn't work. I hope I'm clear enough to find a solution. Thanks in advance.

  • Inherit one instance variable from the global scope

    - by Julian
    I'm using Curses to create a command line GUI with Ruby. Everything's going well, but I have hit a slight snag. I don't think Curses knowledge (esoteric to be fair) is required to answer this question, just Ruby concepts such as objects and inheritance. I'm going to explain my problem now, but if I'm banging on, just look at the example below. Basically, every Window instance needs to have .close called on it in order to close it. Some Window instances have other Windows associated with it. When closing a Window instance, I want to be able to close all of the other Window instances associated with it at the same time. Because associated Windows are generated in a logical fashion, (I append the name with a number: instance_variable_set(self + integer, Window.new(10,10,10,10)) ), it's easy to target generated windows, because methods can anticipate what assosiated windows will be called, (I can recreate the instance variable name from scratch, and almost query it: instance_variable_get(self + integer). I have a delete method that handles this. If the delete method is just a normal, global method (called like this: delete_window(@win543) then everything works perfectly. However, if the delete method is an instance method, which it needs to be in-order to use the self keyword, it doesn't work for a very clear reason; it can 'query' the correct instance variable perfectly well (instance_variable_get(self + integer)), however, because it's an instance method, the global instances aren't scoped to it! Now, one way around this would obviously be to simply make a global method like this: delete_window(@win543). But I have attributes associated with my window instances, and it all works very elegantly. This is very simplified, but it literally translates the problem exactly: class Dog def speak woof end end def woof if @dog_generic == nil puts "@dog_generic isn't scoped when .woof is called from a class method!\n" else puts "@dog_generic is scoped when .woof is called from the global scope. See:\n" + @dog_generic end end @dog_generic = "Woof!" lassie = Dog.new lassie.speak #=> @dog_generic isn't scoped when .woof is called from an instance method!\n woof #=> @dog_generic is scoped when .woof is called from the global scope. See:\nWoof! TL/DR: I need lassie.speak to return this string: "@dog_generic is scoped when .woof is called from the global scope. See:\nWoof!" @dog_generic must remain as an insance variable. The use of Globals or Constants is not acceptable. Could woof inherit from the Global scope? Maybe some sort of keyword: def woof < global # This 'code' is just to conceptualise what I want to do, don't take offence! end Is there some way the .woof method could 'pull in' @dog_generic from the global scope? Will @dog_generic have to be passed in as a parameter?

  • Single Table Per Class Hierarchy with an abstract superclass using Hibernate Annotations

    - by Andy Hull
    I have a simple class hierarchy, similar to the following: @Entity @Table(name="animal") @Inheritance(strategy=InheritanceType.SINGLE_TABLE) @DiscriminatorColumn(name="animal_type", discriminatorType=DiscriminatorType.STRING) public abstract class Animal { } @Entity @DiscriminatorValue("cat") public class Cat extends Animal { } @Entity @DiscriminatorValue("dog") public class Dog extends Animal { } When I query "from Animal" I get this exception: "org.hibernate.InstantiationException: Cannot instantiate abstract class or interface: Animal" If I make Animal concrete, and add a dummy discriminator... such as @DiscriminatorValue("animal")... my query returns my cats and dogs as instances of Animals. I remember this being trivial with HBM based mappings but I think I'm missing something when using annotations. Can anyone help? Thanks!

  • Collect all extension methods to generic class in another generic class

    - by Hun1Ahpu
    I'd like to create a lot of extension methods for some generic class, e.g. for public class SimpleLinkedList<T> where T:IComparable And I've started creating methods like this: public static class LinkedListExtensions { public static T[] ToArray<T>(this SimpleLinkedList<T> simpleLinkedList) where T:IComparable { //// code } } But when I tried to make LinkedListExtensions class generic like this: public static class LinkedListExtensions<T> where T:IComparable { public static T[] ToArray(this SimpleLinkedList<T> simpleLinkedList) { ////code } } I get "Extension methods can only be declared in non-generic, non-nested static class". And I'm trying to guess where this restriction came from and have no ideas.

  • Return pointer to nested inner class from generic outer class

    - by helixed
    I'm new to C++, so bear with me. I have a generic class called A. A has a nested class called B. A contains a method called getB(), which is supposed to return a new instance of B. However, I can't get my code to compile. Here's what it looks like:#include A.h template <class E> class A { public: class B { public: int data; }; B * getB(); }; A.cpp #include "A.h" template <class E> A<E>::B * A::getB() { return new B(); } When I try to compile this, I get the following error: error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before '*' token Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, helixed

  • C# Class Library wont register for COM

    - by Jordan S
    Hello All, I am trying to gain access to a .NET class library in Microsoft Excel. To do this I know that the .NET class library must be registered with COM. So I tried going to my Assembly Info and Setting COM Visible to true. Then on the build tab I set Register for COM Interop for true also. I checked the AssemblyInfo.cs file and it does contain [assembly: ComVisible(true)]. But for some reason when I try to add a reference to the Class Lib in Excel the namespace does not show up in the list. I made a quick test Class library with nothing in it and did the same thing (set COM Vis = true , and Register For COM Interop = true) and that one does show up on the list of available references. I can't figure out what the difference is between the two classes. I am not sure if my class is actually being registered for COM interop or not. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this???

  • How can I use Moose with Test::Class?

    - by rassie
    I'm currently refactoring a test suite built up by a colleague and would like to use Test::Class[::Most] while doing so. As I started I figured out I could really use a couple of Moose roles to decouple code a little bit. However, it seems it's not quite possible -- I'm getting error messages like this one: Prototype mismatch: sub My::Test::Class::Base::blessed: none vs ($) at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Sub/Exporter.pm line 896 So the question is: can I use Moose together with Test::Class and if so, how? PS: The code goes like this: package My::Test::Class::Base; use Moose; use Test::Class::Most; with 'My::Cool::Role'; has attr => ( ... );
