• Point an external domain to a shared hosting website

  I bought a domain from a seller (GoDaddy), and wish to point it at a shared hosting website (ASmallOrange). Googling tells me it's fairly straightforward: Step 1: On the external domain's DNS, configure two NS records for the two nameservers of the hosting service. Step 2: Wait 2-48 hours. I'm puzzled because it can't be that simple. I've told the DNS where to look, but since it's shared hosting, the hosting service needs to know what site to point the domain to. And indeed, after I've performed the above steps, visiting the domain leads me to a generic message from the shared hosting service. Okay, so I have to configure the DNS on the hosting service, right? The service I use (ASmallOrange) uses cPanel. What I tried is to set up a Parked Domain for the externally bought domain; when I go into the Advanced DNS Zone Editor, sure enough, the DNS for the external domain shows up as something I can configure. Yet, visiting the externally registered domain still points me to the generic shared server page. I'm convinced I'm doing something wrong. Could someone debug my thought process? Or perhaps offer alternate solutions? Right now, I'm considering trying to set up a CNAME record on the external domain to point to the domain I registered through the shared host -- but I have a vague impression that this is bad practice.

• What's the point of the Prototype design pattern?

  So I'm learning about design patterns in school. Many of them are silly little ideas, but nevertheless solve some recurring problems(singleton, adapters, asynchronous polling, ect). But today I was told about the so called 'Prototype' design pattern. I must be missing something, because I don't see any benefits from it. I've seen people online say it's faster than using "new"' but this is doesn't make any sense, since at some point, regardless how the new object is created, memory needs to be allocated for it ect. Furthermore, doesn't this pattern run in the same circles as the 'chicken or egg' problem? By this I mean, since the prototype pattern essentially is just cloning objects, at some point the original object must be created itself (ie, not cloned). So this would mean, that I would need to have an existing copy of every object that I would ever want to clone already ready to clone? Seems stupid to me. • Which other event handler than click could i use?

  I have a jQuery question, and I really think it is a silly one : i'm a beginner in JS and jQuery... I'm using $("#myLink").click(function(){ $(".myClassToShow").show(); $(".myClassToHide").hide(); }); to hide elements with class myClassToHide as a class attribute and show elements with class myClassToShow as a class attribute. I think this is really easy to understand :) I didn't think it would hide every elements with the good class, but, well, it works. My worry here is that my elements show and hide only for few seconds : the time my mouse click on the link. I would like to make myClassToShow elements remaining on the screen, when i already clicked my link, and myClassToHide elements really hide. For example, on the johann Hammarstrom's website, when you click on "Print", all his works which are not print gone hide, and only the printing one remain. That's kinda what i want. I searched using Firebug, but couldn't find which kind of event he used. I know a onchange is not the correct answer, so what? Could you help me please?

• How to play games in widescreen in Windows 7, Dell Studio 1555

  I have a dell studio 1555 laptop with a GPU inside. The details are below; Hardware details Software details I can play games in widescreen in Vista, but not in 7. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium. I have the latest Catalyst Control Center. Instead of widescreen, the games are running in a classic style, say 1024x768 ratio. When I play need for speed underground, the maximum possible resolution is 1024x768 (all other games are like this). I have no problem with HD videos and anything else. How can I fix this? These links are dynamically added to the page (a.add-photos-link). Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it so it fires after the first single-click?

  Hello! For one of my projects, I need to create a function that will return a handle to a window when the user click on it (any window displayed on screen, and anywhere inside that window). I know it is possible to use a global hook, but I think there must be a more simple way of doing that, without using any DLL injection. In fact, I could intercept the left mouse click or intercept when a window is activated. Can I use one of those 2 solutions without any DLL injection?

• Division to the nearest 1 decimal place without floating point math?

  I am having some speed issues with my C# program and identified that this percentage calculation is causing a slow down. The calculation is simply n/d * 100. Both the numerator and denominator can be any integer number. The numerator can never be greater than the denominator and is never negative. Therefore, the result is always from 0-100. Right now, this is done by simply using floating point math and is somewhat slow, since it's being calculated tens of millions of times. I really don't need anything more accurate than to the nearest 0.1 percent. And, I just use this calculated value to see if it's bigger than a fixed constant value. I am thinking that everything should be kept as an integer, so the range with 0.1 accuracy would be 0-1000. Is there some way to calculate this percentage without floating point math?

  The problem is that I want to output Mathematica compatible floating point numbers. The only difference with the standard IOStream or printf output format is that the exponential e is replaced by *^: Standard C/C++ output format: 1.23e-4 Mathematica format: 1.23*^-4 Is there a way to manipulate streams to achieve this effect? My original idea was just to use istringstream and dump it to a string and then replace all the e's. I would also be okay if someone posted code to parse through the bits of the floating point number and output it directly (i.e. a printf("%e") replacement).

  I am trying to implement what I used to take for granted in Winforms applications. I am a Silverlight noob, so hopefully all this is elementary. I have a listbox in a Silverlight 4 app. I'd like to do the following: Right-click on the listbox Have the item under the location where I click highlight itself I'd like a context menu to popup (with my own items in the context menu) From my research so far, it appears that there is no ContextMenu construct in Silverlight, instead we have to build up a Grid/Canvas structure and attach it to a Popup object, which is what is then popped up. My questions are as follows: To accomplish #2, I need some kind of hit test on the listbox. I can't figure out how to do that and my google-fu isn't helping. Once I do identify the index under the mouse, how do I actually select the item? Is there a reusable Context menu component somewhere that I can use? Extra credit if the component allows arbitrary sub-menus.

• SQL SERVER – Fix : Error 3623 – An invalid floating point operation occurred

  Going back in time, I always had a problem with mathematics. It was a great subject and I loved it a lot but I only mastered it after practices a lot. I learned that mathematics problems should be addressed systematically and being verbose is not a trick, I learned to solve any problem. Recently one of reader sent me an email with the title “Mathematics problem – please help!” and I was a bit scared. I was good at mathematics but not the best. When I opened the email I was relieved as it was Mathematics problem with SQL Server. My friend received following error while working with SQL Server. Msg 3623, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 An invalid floating point operation occurred. The reasons for the error is simply that invalid usage of the mathematical function is attempted. Let me give you a few examples of the same. SELECT SQRT(-5); SELECT ACOS(-3); SELECT LOG(-9); If you run any of the above functions they will give you an error related to invalid floating point. Honestly there is no workaround except passing the function appropriate values. SQRT of a negative number will give you result in real numbers which is not supported at this point of time as well LOG of a negative number is not possible (because logarithm is the inverse function of an exponential function and the exponential function is NEVER negative). When I send above reply to my friend he did understand that he was passing incorrect value to the function. As mentioned earlier the only way to fix this issue is finding incorrect value and avoid passing it to the function. Every mathematics function is different and there is not a single solution to identify erroneous value passed. If you are facing this error and not able to figure out the solution. Post a comment and I will do my best to figure out the solution.   I have a server connected via dynamic ip. I have set up entrydns to manage the change of my ip. If I put in my entrydns url it points me to my servers current ip. I purchased a domain from go daddy, but I have been unable to get it to point to my entrydns. What I want is to be able to ssh to my server. but ideally id like to do this by using my domain name. I must confess Im a bit overwhelmed by the godaddy interface. So The bottom line is how do I point my godaddy domain to my dns domain so that when I look up the domain I get the current ip of the server?

• Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit doesn't work on a win7 with check point full disk encryption

  I installed Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit with the Wubi installer on a Windows 7 with Check Point Full Disk Encryption. The Wubi Installer runs without any trouble selecting the compatibility mode with WinXP and as Administrator. The problem is that after the installation is complete and the reboot done, when you restart the system, there's no option to start Ubuntu instead of Windows. I recently installed Ubuntu on other Win7 machines without any problem. But those laptops don't have the Check Point Full Disk Encryption. And when you restart the system you have the option to start in Ubuntu. If somebody has resolved this issue please share...!!! Regards! Víctor

  Do you have a Google Reader account and need a quick simple way to subscribe to new RSS feeds while you browse? Then you will definitely want to have a look at the Chrome Reader extension for Chrome. Before If you want to add a new feed to your Google Reader account in Chrome then you have to do it manually. A single feed now and then is not a problem but if you are wanting to build a serious set of RSS feeds quickly then not so good. Chrome Reader in Action Once the extension is installed you are ready to go. Any time that you visit a webpage with an RSS feed available you will see the familiar orange feed icon appear in your “Address Bar”. To add the feed to your Google Reader account just click on the orange feed icon. Note: You will need to be logged into your Google Reader account in your browser. When you click on the orange feed icon a small drop-down window will appear where you can modify the feed name and/or add it to a “custom folder” if desired. • I can't get click and drag to work with my Wacom Bamboo P&T

  I get my Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch apparently working (By using Martin Owens' PPA), but whenever I try to click and drag something -- for example to move a window -- it will only register as a click. In other words: The "button up" event is generated right after the "button down" event no matter how long I hold it in. This is the same whether I use the tip of the pen, the buttons on the pen or the buttons on the pad. However: Clicking and dragging works perfectly in the login-screen, both before logging in for the first time and after logging out.

  I was first using authorship tag on all the pages of my website. That gave me a pretty decent improvement in the click through rate. However, I have recently added ratings on my website, i.e. all my pages are being rated by the readers and the same has been made available to Google via rich snippets. The result being the image of the author from the google search results has been removed. It shows ratings given by the customers and just writes the name of the author. What will be its impact on the click-through rate ? Is it OK to have the ratings or should I switch back to only authorship tag as I was using in the past ? • Finding the contact point with SAT

  The Separating Axis Theorem (SAT) makes it simple to determine the Minimum Translation Vector, i.e., the shortest vector that can separate two colliding objects. However, what I need is the vector that separates the objects along the vector that the penetrating object is moving (i.e. the contact point). I drew a picture to help clarify. There is one box, moving from the before to the after position. In its after position, it intersects the grey polygon. SAT can easily return the MTV, which is the red vector. I am looking to calculate the blue vector. My current solution performs a binary search between the before and after positions until the length of the blue vector is known to a certain threshold. It works but it's a very expensive calculation since the collision between shapes needs to be recalculated every loop. Is there a simpler and/or more efficient way to find the contact point vector?

My partitions are: C: Windows8 90GB NTFS D: Blank 25GB FAT32 E: Entertainment 117GB NTFS F: Other 117GB NTFS G: Software 117GB NTFS Now, I've made flash drive for Ubuntu 13.04 and want to install on D: I've tried a lot to install on that partition but every time I got error of No mount point selected. But actually I've selected / as mount point. So please help me to solve this problem. and also suggest me what to do for /home. Note: I want to access windows 8 as my main operating system.
