• Problem using python QPID and gevent together [closed]

  I have a python script that pulls messages from an Apache QPID queue, and then uses gevent to perform (IO-bound) tasks on those messages in parallel. The queue that this script pulls from was recently changed: I suspect the version of the C++ QPID broker changed, although I cannot verify this at the present time. Now, my process deadlocks and hangs upon QPID queue creation. I strongly suspect that this is a result of an incompatibility with gevent, although I have not done the work yet to produce a minimal example to demonstrate the problem. (Next on my list). Does anybody else have experience of getting gevent and QPID to work together? or Has anybody else seen the same issues?

• Ubuntu crash problem, need fix

  Upgraded to 12.04 LTS Beta 2, on a Dimension E310. The unity Sidebar crashes while I use Software Center. The only way I can close Software center Is to either power off my computer or use force quit app on the unity side bar. Thats why I believe it's the sidebar crashing instead of the software center. But the other problem is, apport don't recognize the bug so nothing is sent. How do I file this bug? I looked in VAR/Crash and there was no crash report.

• Sprite animation problem

  I have this sprite I have to animate. The sprite is 7 images total but animation is 10 frames (2 positions are repeated). The order I want to go through the frames is like this: 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 0 - 2. My problem is how can I skip 1 frame once I reach the end of each direction? The reason I want to skip is to save me from creating duplicate positions in the spritesheet. I'm doing this in Javascript.

• Constrained A* problem

  I've got a little problem with an A* algorithm that I need to Constrained a little bit. Basically : I use an A* to find the shortest path between 2 randomly placed room in 3D space, and then build a corridor between them. The problem I found is that sometimes it makes chimney like corridors that are not ideal, so I constrict the A* so that if the last movement was up or down, you go sideways. Everything is fine, but in some corner cases, it fails to find a path (when there is obviously one). • Can't install AMD drivers and Blinking problem

  I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with WUBI, everything is going fine and ubuntu is awesome but i have a little problem. When i open my Sony VAIO model E laptop, i have 2 choices (which is normal) but when i select Ubuntu 1/2 of the time it will just give a rapidly blinkin color background and can only be corrected if i reboot the computer and select ubuntu again. I think this has something to do with the fact i can't get any driver update for my computer from AMD, according to their website, VAIO computers aren't supported. I have a AMD RADEON HD 7650M graphic card which is not detected in ubuntu. When i try to install the drivers using the drivers application it gives a "can't install" error. What should i do?

• Edubuntu boot problem on dual boot PC

  When booting Edubuntu on a dual boot PC with Windows 7, the last message that I get is "Restoring resolver state" [Ok]. I then press the Enter key, some other messages come up and go away too quickly to notice what they say, and then the system shuts down. Windows 7 works fine. My system is an older Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop with 3Gb usable memory. This all started happening after attempting to upgrade to the next version of Edubuntu, but was not allowed to because I didn't have enough space in my partition to allow for it. I'm unsure whether that has anything to do with the problem.

  On a new website, I publicly display an email address, [email protected]. Then I set up an email forwarder in my hostmonster cPanel, so that if the public email address ever became spam ridden then we can chop off the forwarding. However, the client received a spam message that looked like the following. To: client's personal email address (not the public address) Subject: domain.com opportunities Body: marketing junk The problem is that the "to" should have said [email protected]. I am now worried that the real email address was retrieved on the backend of hostmonster.

  We are crawling and downloading lots of companies' PDFs and trying to pick out the ones that are Annual Reports. Such reports can be downloaded from most companies' investor-relations pages. The PDFs are scanned and the database is populated with, among other things, the: Title Contents (full text) Page count Word count Orientation First line Using this data we are checking for the obvious phrases such as: Annual report Financial statement Quarterly report Interim report Then recording the frequency of these phrases and others. So far we have around 350,000 PDFs to scan and a training set of 4,000 documents that have been manually classified as either a report or not. We are experimenting with a number of different approaches including Bayesian classifiers and weighting the different factors available. We are building the classifier in Ruby. My question is: if you were thinking about this problem, where would you start?

  Okay I'm new here and I have been trying to figure this out all day I have two functions one calling the other but my functions only returns the last value for example 29 when it should return multiple values.   I'm building a strange div shaped structure and I need a hint to resolve a clicking problem. This is a jsfiddle to show you the issue. The structure for each element is: <div class="views-row"> <div class="diamonds-container"> CONTENT </div> </div> I have a onclick() event on .diamonds-container but the .views-row div of the next element [with red or blue background..] go over the container and stop the click event on it. I tryed to play with the z-index but I didn't have the expected result. How can I achieve this structure with a correct click event on diamonds-containers ? I think I can track the .views-row click with javascript and trigger manually a click on the previous diamonds-container but this will be my final option. How can I achieve this without javascript?

  Is there a way to prevent session id restore on startup/restart of user's system? We are using a asp.net app and I am able to login and access the site. For the first time session id is created and stored in cookies. Problem: But if I restart my system without signing out, the session is still alive. How can I prevent this? from server side. I can try to delete cookies but it is not practical, as each user will have different preferences.

Problem: While in Ubuntu's desktop and other Ubuntu initiated programs, the window is reduced to about 3x4 inches showing in the middle of the rest of my regular Virtual Box window.   i have a hp dv6 system. on which i was having the windows 8 installed. as i was interested in downloading the ubuntu 12.10 along with windows 8(not inside) .i have made separate partition in ubuntu 12.10 but some how it backfires and now i am not able to boot windows 8 and ubuntu. with windows 8 there is no drive to access the drive partition that has OS. with ubuntu i am getting blank screen. i am thinking that i have problem in system partition but i am not able to solve it. For summary, I am making a TBRPG in C++ and I encountered few problems.   I am trying to parallel a classic map-reduce problem (which can parallel well with MPI) with OpenCL, namely, the AMD implementation. But the result bothers me. Let me brief about the problem first. There are two type of data that flow into the system: the feature set (30 parameters for each) and the sample set (9000+ dimensions for each). It is a classic map-reduce problem in the sense that I need to calculate the score of every feature on every sample (Map). And then, sum up the overall score for every feature (Reduce). There are around 10k features and 30k samples. I tried different ways to solve the problem. First, I tried to decompose the problem by features. The problem is that the score calculation consists of random memory access (pick some of the 9000+ dimensions and do plus/subtraction calculations). Since I cannot coalesce memory access, it costs. Then, I tried to decompose the problem by samples. The problem is that to sum up overall score, all threads are competing for few score variables. It keeps overwriting the score which turns out to be incorrect. (I cannot carry out individual score first and sum up later because it requires 10k * 30k * 4 bytes). The first method I tried gives me the same performance on i7 860 CPU with 8 threads. However, I don't think the problem is unsolvable: it is remarkably similar to ray tracing problem (for which you carry out calculation that millions of rays against millions of triangles). Any ideas?

Fixing the setter everything works fine, but the logs show that setChildren is called only once before even running a single SQL statement, still with a null argument, so I'm wondering what's going on here. Anyone has any clues?

• iPhone MailComposer class UIViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated issues

  I created a class to launch the MailComposer so that my iPhone app would only have one place to go when generating various kinds of e-mail: some with attachments, some not. Some with pre-filled addresses, some not. I didn't want my class implement UIViewController, but it has to so it can be the delegate for the MailComposer. Otherwise, the view controllers that call my class would themselves have to be delegates for the MailComposer, which defeats the purpose. The downside of having my class be a view controller is that it has to load to the screen before it can modally bring up the MailComposer. Unfortunately, view controllers can't be transparent. The effect is, whatever is on screen gets covered by a solid white view controller for a moment before the MailComposer appears. I could maybe live with that, but not this: after the MailComposer goes away, I'm left with my blank view controller occupying the screen. I ought to be able to get rid of it from within itself by calling this: [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:NO]; But that dies a horrible death: "Loading 43365 stack frames..." Has my class -- a UIViewController that pre-fills and then launches a MailComposer -- lost track of its parentViewController? It isn't nil, because I've tested for that. As launched from within the current view controller... // My class is called Email.
