  • Apache2 worker mpm too many processes

    - by delerious010
    I've got Apache installed with the worker mpm which seems to have too many processes active in spite of the configurations in place. I'll detail the configs below : StartServers 2 MinSpareThreads 10 MaxSpareThreads 25 ThreadsPerChild 25 MaxClients 150 Based on these settings, we should be seeing a maximum of 1 Apache control process (uid:root) and 6 Apache client processes (uid:www). This being due to MaxClients/ThreadsPerChild. However, I'm seeing a total of 1 Apache control process and 9 Apache client processes. init -- apache2(root) -- -- apache2(www) -- -- apache2(www) -- 1 thread -- -- apache2(www) -- 26 threads -- -- apache2(www) -- 26 threads init -- apache2(www) -- 2 threads -- apache2(www) -- apache2(www) -- apache2(www) We do not make it a habit of restarting Apache nor the Server, and will perform a reload 2-3 times a day at times so as to add new VHOSTs. Would anyone be able to enlighten me as to what might be causing this ? enter code here

  • 301 redirect Rule For Load Balance F5 BigIp

    - by Kshah
    I have a load balancer F5 Big ip for my website. Currently, I am having 302 redirect in place; however, I wanted to apply 301 but dont know how. For example: My website (abc.com) when typed 302 redirects to abc.com/index and when typed www.abc.com 302 redirects www.abc.com/index. I wanted to have a rule which will help me in abc.com - 301 redirect - www.abc.com/index abc.com/index - 301 redirect - www.abc.com/index www.abc.com - 301 redirect - www.abc.com/index Below is the code that my tech person is trying: Redirect to WWW when HTTP_REQUEST { if { [HTTP::host] equals "abc.com" or [HTTP::host] equals "abc.co.in" or [HTTP::host] equals "www.abc.co.in" } { if {!( [HTTP::path] equals "/")} { HTTP::respond 301 Location "http://www.abc.com[HTTP::path]" } } } Redirect POST when HTTP_REQUEST { if { [HTTP::method] equals "POST" } { persist source_addr pool shop_shop_vr4_http } } Redirect-VR4 HOMEPAGE when HTTP_REQUEST { if { [HTTP::path] equals "/" or [HTTP::path] starts_with "/target/" or [HTTP::path] starts_with "/logs/" or [HTTP::path] starts_with "/config/" } { HTTP::redirect "http://[HTTP::host]/index.jsp.vr" } }

  • Restrict SSL access for some paths on a apache2 server

    - by valmar
    I wanted to allow access to www.mydomain.com/login through ssl only. E.g.: Whenever someone accessed http://www.mydomain.com/login, I wanted him to be redirect to https://www.mydomain.com/login so it's impossible for him/her to access that site without SSL. I accomplished this by adding the following lines to the virtual host for www.mydomain.com on port 80 in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^80$ RewriteRule ^/login(.*)$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}/login$1 [L,R] RewriteLog "/var/log/apache2/rewrite.log" Now, I want to restrict using SSL for www.mydomain.com. That means, whenever someone accessed https://www.mydomain.com, I want him to be redirected to http://www.mydomain.com (for performance reasons). I tried this by adding the following lines to the virtual host of www.mydomain.com on port 443 in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$ RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [L,R] RewriteLog "/var/log/apache2/rewrite.log" But when I now try to access www.mydomain.com/login, I get an error message that the server has caused to many redirects. That does make sense. Obviously, the two RewriteRules are playing ping-pong against each other. How could I work around this?

  • Redirect URL within Apache VirtualHost?

    - by DisgruntledGoat
    I have a dedicated server with Apache, on which I've set up some VirtualHosts. I've set up one to handle the www domain as well as the non-www domain. My VH .conf file for the www: <VirtualHost *> DocumentRoot /var/www/site ServerName www.example.com <Directory "/var/www/site"> allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> With this .htaccess: RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.example.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com/$1 [L,R=301] Is there a simple way to redirect the www to the non-www version? Currently I'm sending both versions to the same DocumentRoot and using .htaccess but I'm sure I must be able to do it in the VirtualHost file.

  • server host name and server ip address redirect (Debian, Apache)

    - by Matthias Reisner
    I have the following folder structure on my apache! .../var/www/www.x.tt/htdocs .../var/www/www.y.tt/htdocs I have defined a virtual host for each. So if I type in www.x.tt in my browser I get to the www.x.tt site. And the same for www.y.tt. But now my question! If I type in the server address or the server host name I get to the ../var/www directory but I want that the user will be redirected to the www.x.tt site! Do I have to create a new virtual host for this problem or is it also possible only to add a .htaccess Rule?! Thanks!

  • FTP Error 550 when trying to access a folder via symbolic link

    - by OrangeTux
    I'm configuring svftp on a linux machine. At the moment local users can login via ftp and they will see listened their home dir. They have write acces to it. No I want the users to write in de /var/www/ dir. Therefore I created an new group apache. Added users to the group and gave the group write access to /var/www. Via the terminal all users can write .var/www/. I created a link in the home directory to /var/www via ln -s /var/www/ /home/user/www ls gives: drwxr-xr-x 2 orangetux orangetux 4096 Jun 23 15:06 ftp lrwxrwxrwx 1 orangetux orangetux 21 Jun 23 15:00 www -> /var/www/ But when I use FTP I see the link but I cannot follow it. Error 550 which means file not found or bad access. How can I solve this, so that the users have access to /var/www via their home dir?

  • How can I redirect all files in a directory that doesn't conform to a certain filename structure?

    - by user18842
    I have a website where a previous developer had updated several webpages. The issue is that the developer had made each new webpage with new filenames, and deleted the old filenames. I've worked with .htaccess redirects for a few months now, and have some understanding of the usage, however, I am stumped with this task. The old pages were named like so: www.domain.tld/subdir/file.html The new pages are named: www.domain.tld/subdir/file-new-name.html The first word of all new files is the exact name of the old file, and all new files have the same last 2 words. www.domain.tld/subdir/file1-new-name.html www.domain.tld/subdir/file2-new-name.html www.domain.tld/subdir/file3-new-name.html ect. We also need to be able to access the url: www.domain.tld/subdir/ The new files have been indexed by google (the old urls cause 404s, and need redirected to the new so that google will be friendly), and the client wants to keep the new filenames as they are more descriptive. I've attempted to redirect it in many different ways without success, but I'll show the one that stumps me the most RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} !^subdir/.*\-new\-name\.html RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} !^subdir/$ RewriteRule ^subdir/(.*)\.html$ http://www.domain.tld/subdir/$1\-new\-name\.html [R=301,NC] When visiting www.domain.tld/subdir/file1.html in the browser, this causes a 403 Forbidden error with a url like so: www.domain.tld/subdir/file1-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name-new-name.html I'm certain it's probably something simple that I'm overlooking, can someone please help me get a proper redirect? Thanks so much in advance! EDIT I've also got all the old filenames saved on a separate document in case I need them set up like the following example: (file(1|2|3|4|5)|page(1|2|3|4|5)|a(l(l|lowed|ter)|ccept)

  • certain Smarty tags don't work in OpenX templates

    - by mikez302
    I am on a team that is developing an OpenX plugin, and I am responsible for the UI. I noticed that if I use certain Smarty tags in my template, the app doesn't work and I see an error message, similar to this: Plugin by name 'Html_select_date' was not found in the registry; used paths: default_views_helpers_: /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/application/modules/default/views/helpers/ OX_OXP_UI_View_Helper_: /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/application/../library/OX/OXP/UI/View/Helper/ OX_UI_View_Helper_: /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/application/../library/OX/UI/View/Helper/ Zend_View_Helper_: Zend/View/Helper/ (stack trace) The stack trace looks like this: #0 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/Zend/View/Abstract.php(1117): Zend_Loader_PluginLoader-load('Html_select_dat...') #1 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/Zend/View/Abstract.php(568): Zend_View_Abstract-_getPlugin('helper', 'html_select_dat...') #2 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/OX/UI/Smarty/SmartyWithViewHelper.php(25): Zend_View_Abstract-getHelper('html_select_dat...') #3 /openx/var/templates_compiled/%2Fdefault%2Fviews%2Fscripts%2Findex%2Fview-reports.html^%%E8^E80^E80B56F2%%view-reports.html.php(38): OX_UI_Smarty_SmartyWithViewHelper-callViewHelper('html_select_dat...', Array) #4 /openx/lib/smarty/Smarty.class.php(1274): include('/openx...') #5 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/OX/UI/View/SmartyView.php(103): Smarty-fetch('/openx...') #6 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/Zend/View/Abstract.php(832): OX_UI_View_SmartyView-_run('/openx...') #7 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/OX/UI/View/SmartyView.php(151): Zend_View_Abstract-render('index/view-repo...') #8 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/OX/UI/View/Helper/WithViewScript.php(23): OX_UI_View_SmartyView-render('index/view-repo...') #9 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/application/modules/default/views/helpers/ViewReports.php(5): OX_UI_View_Helper_WithViewScript::renderViewScript('index/view-repo...', Array) #10 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/application/modules/default/controllers/IndexController.php(98): Default_Views_Helpers_ViewReports-renderPage() #11 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/Zend/Controller/Action.php(512): IndexController-viewReportsAction() #12 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/Zend/Controller/Dispatcher/Standard.php(288): Zend_Controller_Action-dispatch('viewReportsActi...') #13 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/library/Zend/Controller/Front.php(945): Zend_Controller_Dispatcher_Standard-dispatch(Object(Zend_Controller_Request_Http), Object(Zend_Controller_Response_Http)) #14 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/application/bootstrap.php(117): Zend_Controller_Front-dispatch() #15 /openx/www/admin/plugins/myApp/public/index.php(7): require('/openx...') #16 {main} This does not happen with all Smarty tags. For example, I can use {if}, {foreach}, or {assign} tags without any problems. But whenever I try to use {html_select_date}, {html_image}, or {html_table}, I get the errors. In case this matters, the programmer who is designing the plugin copied the openXWorkflow plugin and made some changes. I noticed that the openXWorkflow plugin has a file (openx/plugins_repo/openXWorkflow/www/admin/plugins/openXWorkflow/library/OX/UI/Smarty/SmartyCompilerWithViewHelper.php) with a class that overrides the default Smarty compiler, supposedly with the ability to compile shorthands for calling ZF view helpers. That file has a list of Smarty functions, but the list is incomplete. If I add the functions to the list, or simply delete the file, my template works fine, but I don't like to change library files. It may make the app hard to maintain, and I don't know if it will mess up something else. The file has the comment "There is no easy access to the list of Smarty's built-in functions so we need to list them here. HTML-specific functions are not included as we cover HTML generation separately.", so it seems like certain Smarty functions may be disabled on purpose for some reason. Will anything bad happen if I try to use them? If, for example, I want to use the {html_select_date} tag in my template, how would I go about doing that? Keep in mind that much of this stuff is new and unfamiliar to me. This is my first time ever using OpenX or Smarty, and I only have a little bit of experience with the Zend framework. Please let me know if we are using the wrong approach.

  • HTML Redirect issue with Apache2

    - by Vijit Jain
    I am facing an issue with the ProxyPass on my Apache server on Ubuntu. I have configured Apache to deal with Virtual Hosts on my server. There is an application with runs on the server and uses ports 8001 8002. I need to do something like www.example.com/demo/origin to display the contents that I would see when I visit www.example.com:8000. The contents to be displayed are a host of HTML pages. This is the section of the virtual host config that has issues ProxyPass /demo/vader http://www.example.com:8001/ ProxyPassReverse /demo/vader http://www.example:8001/ ProxyPass /demo/skywalker http://www.example.com:8002/ ProxyPassReverse /demo/skywalker http://www.example.com:8002/ Now when I visit example.com/demo/skywalker, I see the first page of port 8002, say the login.html page. The second should have been www.example.com/demo/skywalker/userAction.html, instead the server shows www.example.com:8000/login.html. In the error logs I see something like: [Mon Nov 11 18:01:20 2013] [debug] mod_proxy_http.c(1850): proxy: HTTP: FILE NOT FOUND /htdocs/js/demo.72fbff3c9a97f15a4fff28e19b0de909.min.js I do not have any folder htdocs in the system. This is only an issue while viewing .html pages. Otherwise, no such issue occurs. When I visit localhost:8001 it will show any and all contents without any errors or issues. www.example.com/demo/skywalker displays a separate webpage www.example.com/demo/origin displays a different webpage and www.example.com/demo/vader displays a different webpage. I have also tried to use one more type of combination, <Location /demo/origin/> ProxyPass http://localhost:8000/ ProxyPassReverse http://localhost:8000/ ProxyHTMLURLMap http://localhost:8000/ / </Location> This fails as well. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me resolve this issue.

  • How to HIDE "client denied by server configuration:" error in log

    - by Keith
    I want to block access to my web server by default as a precaution but I keep getting the following errors showing up in my error log. [Wed Jun 27 23:30:54 2012] [error] [client 86.77.20.107] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/Edu.jar [Wed Jun 27 23:32:40 2012] [error] [client 86.77.20.107] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/REST.jar [Wed Jun 27 23:35:39 2012] [error] [client 86.77.20.107] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/Set.jar [Thu Jun 28 01:01:17 2012] [error] [client 58.218.199.227] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/proxyheader.php [Thu Jun 28 02:34:57 2012] [error] [client 58.218.199.227] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/proxy.php [Thu Jun 28 05:41:33 2012] [error] [client 58.218.199.227] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/proxyheader.php [Thu Jun 28 06:55:10 2012] [error] [client 180.76.6.20] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/ [Thu Jun 28 07:31:26 2012] [error] [client 86.77.20.107] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/Edu.jar [Thu Jun 28 07:32:25 2012] [error] [client 86.77.20.107] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/REST.jar [Thu Jun 28 07:36:10 2012] [error] [client 86.77.20.107] client denied by server configuration: /home/www/default/Set.jar I don't really want these errors to show up but whatever I do, I can't get rid of them. Does anyone know how I can achieve this? Here is a copy of my configuration. <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /home/www/default <Directory /> AllowOverride None Order Deny,Allow Deny from all </Directory> #ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log #LogLevel warn CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined </VirtualHost>

  • FastCGI and Apache 500 error intermittently

    - by benkorn1
    Hello, I have a FastCGI (mod_fastcgi)problem. It happens every once in a while, and does not casue a complete server meltdown, just 500 errors. Here are a couple things. First I am using APC so PHP is in control of it's own processes, not FastCGI. Also, I have the webroot set as: /var/www/html And the fcgi-bin inside: /var/www/html/fcgi-bin First off here is the apache error_log: [Fri Jan 07 10:22:39 2011] [error] [client 50.16.222.82] (4)Interrupted system call: FastCGI: comm with server "/var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi" aborted: select() failed, referer: http://www.domain.com/ I also ran strace on the 'fcgi-pm' process. Here is a snip from the trace around the time it bombs out: 21725 gettimeofday({1294420603, 14360}, NULL) = 0 21725 read(14, "C /var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi - - 6503 38*", 16384) = 46 21725 alarm(131) = 0 21725 select(15, [14], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [14]) 21725 alarm(0) = 131 21725 gettimeofday({1294420603, 96595}, NULL) = 0 21725 read(14, "C /var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi - - 6154 23*C /var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi - - 6483 28*", 16384) = 92 21725 alarm(131) = 0 21725 select(15, [14], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [14]) 21725 alarm(0) = 131 21725 gettimeofday({1294420603, 270744}, NULL) = 0 21725 read(14, "C /var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi - - 5741 38*", 16384) = 46 21725 alarm(131) = 0 21725 select(15, [14], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [14]) 21725 alarm(0) = 131 21725 gettimeofday({1294420603, 311502}, NULL) = 0 21725 read(14, "C /var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi - - 6064 32*", 16384) = 46 21725 alarm(131) = 0 21725 select(15, [14], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [14]) 21725 alarm(0) = 131 21725 gettimeofday({1294420603, 365598}, NULL) = 0 21725 read(14, "C /var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi - - 6179 33*C /var/www/html/fcgi-bin/php.fcgi - - 5906 59*", 16384) = 92 21725 alarm(131) = 0 21725 select(15, [14], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [14]) 21725 alarm(0) = 131 21725 gettimeofday({1294420603, 454405}, NULL) = 0 I noticed that the 'select()' seems to stay the same regardless, however the read() changes its return from 46 to some other number while it is bombing out. Has anyone seen anything like this. Could this be some sort of file locking? Thanks, Ben
