  • Adventures in Drupal multisite config with mod_rewrite and clean urls

    The university where I work is planning to offer Drupal hosting to staff/faculty who want a Drupal site. We've set up Drupal multisite with clean urls and it's mostly working except for some weird redirects. If you have two sites where one is a substring of the other then you'll randomly be redirected to the other site. I tracked the problem to how mod_rewrite does path matching, so with a config file like this: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/drupal RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /drupal/index.php?q=$1 [last,qsappend] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/drupaltest RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /drupaltest/index.php?q=$1 [last,qsappend] /drupaltest will match the /drupal line and all of the links on the /drupaltest page will be rewritten to point to /drupal. If you put the end of string character ($) at the end of each rewrite condition then it will always match on the correct site and the links will always be rewritten correctly. That breaks down as soon as a user logs in though because the query string is appended to the url so just the base url will no longer match. You can also fix the problem by ordering the sites in the config file so that the smallest substring will always be last. I suggested storing all of the sites in a table and then querying, sorting, and rewriting the config file every time a Drupal site is requested so that we could guarantee the order. The system administrator thought that was kludgy and didn't address the root problem. Disabling clean urls should also fix the problem but the users really want them so I'd prefer to keep them if possible. I think we could also fix it by using an .htaccess file in each site to handle the clean url rewriting but that also seems suboptimal since it will generate a higher load on the server and the server is intended to host the majority of the university's external facing web content. Is there some magic I can do with mod_rewrite to get it to work? Would another solution be better? Am I doing something the wrong way to begin with?

  • Need to change ip address in app.config in runtime without runnning as admin

    Hey guys, There's a lot of post saying how to change info in the app.config and there are posts that say you shouldn't edit info in the app.config but store info in user folders. I understand these topics. But what i want is a combination of both. I have a wcf setup for my client in an app.config, which contains the endpoint address to which it should connect. When The server changes ip, or when a client is installed on a computer in another company, the user should be able to insert another ip-address which should be stored in the app.config. This cannot be stored in a file in appdata or something like that, as the client reads the info in the app.config on startup. How can i write (so remember the new ip-address) in the app.config when the client is installed in program files, the UAC is enabled and the program isn't run as an admin? Thanks in advance.

  • Setting up ssh config file with id_rsa through tunnel

    I've been struggling to set up a valid configuration to open a connection with a second machine, passing through another one, and using an id_rsa (which requests me a password) to connect to the third machine. I've asked this question in another forum, but I've received no answer that could be considered very helpful. The problem, better described, goes as follows: Local machine: user1@localhost Intermediary machine: user1@inter Remote target: user2@final I'm able to do the entire connection using pseudo-tty: ssh -t inter ssh user2@final (this will ask me the password for the id_rsa file I have in machine "inter") However, for speeding things up, I'd like to set my .ssh/config file, so that I can simply connect to machine "final" using: ssh final What I've got so far -- which does not work -- is, in my .ssh/config file: Host inter User user1 HostName inter.com IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa Host final User user2 HostName final.com IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa_2 ProxyCommand ssh inter nc %h %p The id_rsa file is used to connect to the middle machine (this requires me no password typing), and id_rsa_2 file is used to connect to machine "final" (this one requests a password). I've tried mixing up some LocalForward and/or RemoteForward fields, and putting the id_rsa files in both first and second machines, but I could not seem to succeed with no configuration whatsoever.     I have a Zend Server 5.6 development license and I wanted to know if there is a way to apply the license during install, rather than via the web interface after it has installed. I ask because I administer our server environment via Rightscale and have automated the creation of the server, however it still requires manual input for the license details. We regularly fire up a staging server to do final tests before pushing to production and it would be great if it were completely hands off.

While this is simple it does not give us enough control and flexibility with level design. I'm doing some research into whether to store level data in an XML file or in a database like SQLite.
