  • Ruby net:LDAP returns "code = 53 message = Unwilling to perform" error

    - by Yong
Hi, I am getting this error "code = 53, message = Unwilling to perform" while I am traversing the eDirectory treebase = "ou=Users,o=MTC". My ruby script can read about 126 entries from eDirectory and then it stops and prints out this error. I do not have any clue of why this is happening. I am using the ruby net:LDAP library version 0.0.4. The following is an excerpt of the code. require 'rubygems' require 'net/ldap' ldap = Net::LDAP.new :host => "10.121.121.112", :port => 389, :auth => {:method => :simple, :username => "cn=abc,ou=Users,o=MTC", :password => "123" } filter = Net::LDAP::Filter.eq( "mail", "*mtc.ca.gov" ) treebase = "ou=Users,o=MTC" attrs = ["mail", "uid", "cn", "ou", "fullname"] i = 0 ldap.search( :base => treebase, :attributes => attrs, :filter => filter ) do |entry| puts "DN: #{entry.dn}" i += 1 entry.each do |attribute, values| puts " #{attribute}:" values.each do |value| puts " --->#{value}" end end end puts "Total #{i} entries found." p ldap.get_operation_result Here is the output and the error at the end. Thank you very much for your help. DN: cn=uvogle,ou=Users,o=MTC mail: --->[email protected] fullname: --->Ursula Vogler ou: --->Legislation and Public Affairs dn: --->cn=uvogle,ou=Users,o=MTC cn: --->uvogle Total 126 entries found. • Nginx + php-fpm - recv() error

    - by Ilya Biryukov
I get the follow error in the nginx log [error] 17734#0: *6643 recv() failed (104: Connection reset by peer) while reading response header from upstream, client: [cut], server: [cut], request: "GET /venues HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://127.0.0.1:9000", host: "[cut]" I have a dedicated box with 8 gb ram, quad core chip. Good server. Nginx, php-fpm & mysql all latest versions running under ubuntu 10.04 I only get this when I stress test the server with siege. If I increase the number of concurrent connections to 100, I can get up to 20% of all requests to fail. Furthermore, I don't get this on pages that have no mysql queries. And only a few failures on pages with moderate number of queries. Bit, I'm not sure if that's got to do anything with it. I have a feeling this is something to do with php. But I can't figure it out. Any suggestions of where to even start looking? Update: and the php error log is silent. No record of anything going wrong

  • Correct MySQL username/password, but getting Access Denied error when run from script

    - by Nick
I'm currently trying to run the following command from within a shell script. /usr/bin/mysql -u username -ppassword -h localhost database It works perfectly fine when executed manually, and not from within a script. When I try to execute a script that contains that command, I get the following error: ERROR 1045 (28000) at line 3: Access denied for user 'username'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I literally copied and pasted the working command into the script. Why the error? As a sidenote: the ultimate intent is to run the script with cron. EDIT: Here is a stripped down version of my script that I'm trying to run. You can ignore most of it up until the point where it connects to MySQL around line 19. #!/bin/sh #Run download script to download product data cd /home/dir/Scripts/Linux /bin/sh script1.sh #Run import script to import product data to MySQL cd /home/dir/Mysql /bin/sh script2.sh #Download inventory stats spreadsheet and rename it cd /home/dir /usr/bin/wget http://www.url.com/file1.txt mv file1.txt sheet1.csv #Remove existing export spreadsheet rm /tmp/sheet2.csv #Run MySQL queries in "here document" format /usr/bin/mysql -u username -ppassword -h localhost database << EOF --Drop old inventory stats table truncate table table_name1; --Load new inventory stats into table Load data local infile '/home/dir/sheet1.csv' into table table_name1 fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '"' lines terminated by '\r\n'; --MySQL queries to combine product data and inventory stats here --Export combined data in spreadsheet format group by p.value into outfile '/tmp/sheet2.csv' fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '"' lines terminated by '\r\n'; EOF EDIT 2: After some more testing, the issue is with the << EOF that is at the end of the command. This is there for the "here document". When removed, the command works fine. The problem is that I need << EOF there so that the MySQL queries will run.

  • Is this "cache administrator" error my server's problem?

    - by Eoin
Hey, I have a CentOS VPS running Apache with a phpBB installation. One specific user has received errors when posting a message or logging in to the forum. The following issue has arisen in parallel to installing nginx, which serves only the static files of my site. Not sure if this is only coincidence. Furthermore, my setup uses redirects (in some cases, double-redirects) to point the user to a different virtual folder. So, the forum is seen to be at /translation/ but the actual files are found in /phpbb/. I'm at a loss as to what may be the underlying issue. My server? The person's ISP? She has tested both at home and at work, with similar issues. While trying to process the request: GET /phpbb/index.php?sid=f62c927e7eb8f1d60a92dcc6fd918112 HTTP/1.1 Host: www.irishgaelictranslator.com User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-za Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 115 Connection: keep-alive Referer: http://www.irishgaelictranslator.com/phpbb/ucp.php?mode=login Cookie: phpbb3_cipi4_u=96645; phpbb3_cipi4_k=; phpbb3_cipi4_sid=f62c927e7eb8f1d60a92dcc6fd918112; __utma=153470688.1232378553.1294664234.1294664234.1294664234.1; __utmb=153470688.9.10.1294664234; __utmc=153470688; __utmz=153470688.1294664235.1.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none); style_cookie=null The following error was encountered: Invalid Response The HTTP Response message received from the contacted server could not be understood or was otherwise malformed. • Recovering a mdadm+lvm+ext4 partition with read error

    - by bitwelder
One of disks in my NAS has failed. The NAS is running Linux, and it uses mdadm + LVM technology for its filesystems. I do have backup for most of the contents, but not for the very last changes, and if possible, I'd like to recover that from this failing disk. The disk (a 'green drive' WD10EARS 1TB in size) throws this kind of errors: Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.620000] ata5.00: read unc at 9453282 Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.620000] lba 9453282 start 9453280 end 1953511007 Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.620000] sde5 auto_remap 0 Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.630000] ata5.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x1 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.630000] ata5.00: edma_err_cause=00000084 pp_flags=00000003, dev error, EDMA self-disable Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.640000] ata5.00: failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.650000] ata5.00: cmd 60/40:00:e0:3e:90/00:00:00:00:00/40 tag 0 ncq 32768 in Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.650000] res 41/40:00:e2:3e:90/12:00:00:00:00/40 Emask 0x409 (media error) <F> Oct 3 12:00:41 kernel: [ 3625.660000] ata5.00: status: { DRDY ERR } However, while testing with 'dd', I noticed that if I skip the first 4kB, the read seems to be ok, i.e. a command like. dd if=/dev/sde5 of=dev/null bs=4k count=1000 skip=1 doesn't return any read error. Supposing that there is no other read failure in the rest of the disk, would I be able to recover this 900 GB partition (as I mentioned before, it's a 'linux raid autodetect' partition, that contains a a LVM2 volume that contains a ext4 filesystem) if I copy-clone the partition somewhere else, but the first 4kB?

  • Outlook / Gmail 'too many simultaneous connections' error

    - by sam
I'm just setting up Outlook for Mac, and I'm trying to add a Google Apps application for business email (Gmail). I've set it up correctly (same details worked in Mac mail). But I keep getting two errors, either or just a error asking for the username and password again. Just to confirm the user name and password are correct, although when I go into menu command Tools - Account and look in the password field for that account it's blank. But if I just click cancel on the popup asking for my username password it just continues to get mail in the background for about 30 seconds, before again asking again for the password, or showing the above error which I can click 'yes' to and again it will get the mail. But after 30 seconds it does the same thing. I've got two other accounts set up fine, one a horde account (hosted webmail using POP3) and the other a iCloud .me account running on IMAP. What might be causing this and how I can remedy it? A bit more background: the machine is a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X v10.7 (Lion). Update 2013-11-02 I've updated Outlook to SP3, but I still get the same error.

  • Windows 7 remote desktop encryption error every few minutes

    - by rfrankel
Because of an error in data encryption, this session will now end. This is the error I've been getting more and more frequently over the past few days, to the point that I can't ignore it because it's happening consistently within 5 minutes of connecting - sometimes within a few seconds. Both the remote and local machines are Windows 7 Pro x64. The remote machine is behind a Linksys RV082, and I'm using UPnP to forward a remote port to the correct local port. This setup had been working fine for several months, and I can't think of any recent relevant changes that might have been made. Things I've already tried: Disabling unnecessary components of the network connection on the remote machine, until only IPv4 and Client for Microsoft Networks remain. Disabling TCP large send offload on both the remote and local machines. Confirming that the remote machine is not mentioned anywhere in any DMZ settings on the Linksys router. Confirming that there are no x509-related registry keys screwing things up (this is the suggested fix for a slightly different error anyway). These are the only solutions I've been able to find after about an hour of searching, and most of them apply to XP or Server 2003 in any case. If anyone could suggest something else, it would be much appreciated.

  • Grub error 18, gparted not showing anything

    - by Montecristo
Some week ago I started having some problems with my pc, sometimes it just freezed not allowing me to do anything. I had to turn it off and on and sometimes do it a couple of time even at startup. Now it does not start at all, grub is giving me error 18. I have found that a solution is to create a bootable partition in the first sector of the disk. gparted does not recognize any partition, the window in which there would be my partitions is empty. sudo fdisk -l does not output anything. If I type sudo mount /dev/sda and then tab tab to autocomplete these are the devices coming out: sda sda1 sda2 sda5. If I launch sudo mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 disk I get the following error: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so dmesg outputs [ 1831.974847] EXT3-fs: unable to read superblock Do you know how to solve this issue? I'm not completely sure this is a software problem, should I try with a new hard disk?

  • Exchange 2010 - Certificate error on internal Outlook 2013 connections

    - by Lorenz Meyer
I have an Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2003. The exchange server has a wildcard SSL certificate installed *.domain.com, (for use with autodiscover.domain.com and mail.domain.com). The local fqdn of the Exchange server is exch.domain.local. With this configuration there is no problem. Now I started upgrading all Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2013, and I start to get consistently a certificate error in Outlook : The Name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site I understand why I get that error: Outlook 2013 is connecting to exch.domain.local while the certificate is for *.domain.com. I was ready to buy a SAN (Subject Alternate Names) Certificate, that contains the three domains exch.domain.local, mail.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com. But there is a hindrance: the certificate provider (in my case Godaddy) requires that the domain is validated as being our property. Now it is not possible for an internal domain that is not accessible from the internet. So this turns out not to be an option. Create self-signed SAN certificate with an Enterprise CA is an other option that is barely viable: There would be certificate error with every access to webmail, and I had to install the certificate on all Outlook clients. What is a recommended viable solution ? Is it possible to disable certificate checking in Outlook ? Or how could I change the Exchange server configuration so that the public domain name is used for all connections ? Or is there another solution I'm not thinking of ? Any advice is welcome.

  • ERROR: Not enough space?

    - by dsmoljanovic
Now this is a very unspecific question. I'm trying to figure out what this message would mean. Here is the story behind it: I'm installing Oracle enterprise manager cloud control (12c r3) on Solaris 10 (5/09). Installer opens up, i enter all needed information and at the last step click Install. It immediately crashes with only "ERROR: Not enough space" written in log and console and nothing else. Now, this could be java error or Solaris error? I'm thinking it's happening either when it starts to copy files or when it tries to launch a process that would do that. What space is it referring to? disk (have ehough), swap (also), memory (yep)... Any ideas are helpful. Edit: i found this exception in the oraInventory logs: oracle.sysman.oii.oiic.OiicInstallAPIException: Not enough space at oracle.sysman.oii.oiic.OiicAPIInstaller.initInstallSession(OiicAPIInstaller.java:2165) at oracle.sysman.oii.oiic.OiicAPIInstaller.initOUIAPISession(OiicAPIInstaller.java:790) at oracle.sysman.install.oneclick.EMGCOUIInstaller.prepareForInstall(EMGCOUIInstaller.java:676) at oracle.sysman.install.oneclick.EMGCSummaryDlgonNext$1.run(EMGCSummaryDlgonNext.java:243) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:662) at oracle.sysman.install.oneclick.EMGCSummaryDlgonNext.actionsOnClickofNext(EMGCSummaryDlgonNext.java:1067) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:597) at oracle.sysman.install.oneclick.EMGCUtil.performonClickOfNextForClass(EMGCUtil.java:399) at oracle.sysman.install.oneclick.EMGCUtil.performPageLevelValidationsForSilentInstall(EMGCUtil.java:367) at oracle.sysman.install.oneclick.EMGCInstaller.prepareForSilentInstall(EMGCInstaller.java:1459) at oracle.sysman.install.oneclick.EMGCInstaller.main(EMGCInstaller.java:1553) disk status: bash-3.00$ df -h /tmp Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on swap 8.1G 2.7G 5.4G 33% /tmp bash-3.00$ df -h /u01 Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on / 275G 28G 244G 11% / swap: root@gs12emcc # swap -s total: 18306040k bytes allocated + 3837808k reserved = 22143848k used, 5712664k available

  • 403 Error when accessing vhost directive

    - by Ortix92
I'm having some troubles with setting up my webserver (Centos 5.8). It's a brand new server and I'm trying to set a vhost to the following dir: /home/exo/public_html However whenever I restart httpd I get the following warning: Code: Starting httpd: Warning: DocumentRoot [/home/exo/public_html] does not exist Yes the directory does exist. So whenever I visit the domain exo-l.com it gives me a 403 error. This is my config file (I put this inside my httpd.conf because the files in conf.d were not included for some reason. Or at least my newly created vhost conf file, but that has 0 priority for now) <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /home/exo/public_html ServerName www.exo-l.com ServerAlias exo-l.com <Directory /home/exo/public_html> Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost I'm completely clueless because this should work as far as I know. httpd is being run as apache:apache i tried chowning the public_html directory (also recursively) to exo:apache, apache:apache, root:root with no success. chmod 777 doesn't do anything either. a tail from the log: [Sat Oct 13 15:10:04 2012] [error] [client 82.***.***.61] (13)Permission denied: access to / denied [Sat Oct 13 15:10:04 2012] [error] [client 82.***.***.61] (13)Permission denied: access to / denied I also found something about selinux and that disabling it might help, but do I really want to do that?

  • "Error 53" with local LAN machines after VPN session on server

    - by tim11g
I have a Windows 2000 server with a Windows 7 client that occasionally gets "error 53" when accessing the server by name (net view \\server). It still works by IP address (net view \\192.168.0.1). The server's primary IP address (as shown in "routing and remote access" as "Gigabit Ethernet" is 192.168.0.1. There is also a secondary IP address shown as "Internal" which is 192.168.0.50 The server also supports VPN. When a VPN user connects, it gets an address in the range of 192.168.0.51 to .59. Normally (when there is no error), when the local LAN client runs "ping server", it resolves to 192.168.0.1. When the Error 53 problem happens, "ping server" resolves to 192.168.0.50. This problem seems to be related to when a user connects or has recently connected to the server VPN. Is there some connection between the VPN services on the server and the DNS services on the server that could cause a local LAN client to become confused about which IP address to use for the server? Or is there a misconfiguration in the VPN or DNS?

  • 400 error with nginx subdomains over https

    - by aquavitae
    Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm trying to get gunicorn/django through nginx using only https. Here is my nginx configuration: upstream app_server { server unix:/srv/django/app/run/gunicorn.sock fail_timeout=0; } server { listen 80; return 301 https://$host$request_uri; } server { listen 443; server_name app.mydomain.com; ssl on; ssl_certificate /etc/nginx/ssl/nginx.crt; ssl_certificate_key /etc/nginx/ssl/nginx.key; client_max_body_size 4G; access_log /srv/django/app/logs/nginx-access.log; error_log /srv/django/app/logs/nginx-error.log; location /static/ { alias /srv/django/app/data/static/; } location /media/ { alias /wrv/django/app/data/media/; } location / { proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto https; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_pass http://app_server; } } I get a 400 error on app.mydomain.com, but the app is published on mydomain.com. Is there an error in my configuration?

  • Computer will not boot - disk read error - cannot boot from HD or DVD

    - by Grant Palin
This is a 3 year-old system: HP a1640n. There have been no issues with it in the past. I added a video card 2 years ago, and more memory 1 year ago, both without issues. There haven't been any recent hardware changes. I did install Win7 in Oct., but there were no issues with that either. I used the computer fine two nights ago, and turned it off. Yesterday, I tried to turn it on, and got the error: "A Disk Read Error Occurred. Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart" So I restart, see the initial start screen (HP) and enter the BIOS. The hard drive and dvd drive appear to be listed, but the names are gibberish text. I tried putting a Windows disk in the dvd drive, and continued with the boot, but the disk did not get recognized. Even though the BIOS was set to check for optical media before the hard drive. Back to the error screen. If the computer would boot from a cd or dvd, I would just figure the hard drive needed replacing. But both being problematic worries me. Is this a matter of replacing both the hard drive and dvd drive, or might it be an indication of a bigger problem? Thanks for any advice.

  • User receives group membership error to terminal server even though has rights

    - by BlueToast
http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/TSLoginMembership.png To log on to this remote computer, you must be granted the Allow log on through Terminal Services right. By default, members of the Remote Desktop Users group have this right. If you are not a member of the Remote Desktop Users group or another group that has this right, or if the Remote Desktop User group does not have this right, you must be granted this right manually. Only as of today a particular user began receiving this message for a second terminal server they use; otherwise, they have never had any problems authenticating into this server. We have no restrictions on simultaneous and multiple logins. On each terminal server, we have a group and security group like "_Users" locally in the Builtin\Remote Desktop Users group. For this particular user, on this particular terminal server we have locally given him Administrator, Remote Desktop Users, and Users membership; in AD we have given him DOMAIN\Administrator, Builtin\Remote Desktop Users, DOMAIN\_Users. It still gives us that error message. We gave him membership to another terminal server (random) by simply making him member of another DOMAIN\_Users group -- successfully able to login to that random terminal server. So, from scratch we created an AD account 'dummy' (username) with only Domain Users membership. Tried to login to this particular server, no success. So I added 'dummy' to DOMAIN\_Users group, and then was successfully able to login. Other users from this user's department are able to login to this particular server just fine as well. We checked the Security logs on this particular server, and while it is logging everything, the only thing it appears to not log are these failed login attempts from this particular user who receives this error message. We have tried rebooting the server, and the user is still receiving that error message.

How would I disable the cache for the custom error page?

  • Error getting PAM / Linux integrated with Active Directory

    - by topper
I'm trying to add a Linux server to a network which is controlled by AD. The aim is that users of the server will be able to authenticate against the AD domain. I have Kerberos working, but NSS / PAM are more problematic. I'm trying to debug with a simple command such as the following, please see the error. Can anyone assist me to debug? root@antonyg04:~# ldapsearch -H ldap://raadc04.corp.MUNGED.com/ -x -D "cn=MUNGED,ou=Users,dc=corp,dc=MUNGED,dc=com" -W uid=MUNGED Enter LDAP Password: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) additional info: 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C090334, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 525, vece I have had to munge some details, but I can tell you that cn=MUNGED is my username for logging into the AD domain, and the password that I typed was the password for said domain. I don't know why it says "Invalid credentials", and the rest of the error is so cryptic, I have no idea. Is my approach somehow flawed? Is my DN obviously wrong? How can I confirm the correct DN? There was a tool online but I can't find it. NB I have no access to the AD Server for administration or configuration.

So I had them unplug and replug the USB cable, and now (before remounting) it says: fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2 e2fsck 1.41.12 (17-May-2010) /dev/sda1: clean, 2805106/61046784 files, 181934167/244182016 blocks I then mount it and now ls works and df reports: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 917G 680G 191G 79% /mnt/backup What would cause it to go into such a state without being asked to? Why all the weird behaviour, and now it appears to not be corrupt?

  • Getting Run time 1004 error in code

    - by krishna123
I tried the code provided by vba express for combining sheet, while execution it is displaying Run Time error 1004: Application Defined or Object Defined Error: My Scenario is: I have a Excel, in that I have first sheet "Connection" and after it I have Sheet1, Sheet2 and so on. I am combining all sheets except Sheet"Conection" by saying start with sheet2. I tried following line of code to exclude "Connection" sheet: If Not Sheet.Name = "Connection" then but it did not work. Whatever the sheets I have in some of them I have large data in some cells. Here is the code which I am using: I have highlighted the line Sub CopyFromWorksheets() Dim wrk As Workbook 'Workbook object - Always good to work with object variables Dim sht As Worksheet 'Object for handling worksheets in loop Dim trg As Worksheet 'Master Worksheet Dim rng As Range 'Range object Dim colCount As Integer 'Column count in tables in the worksheets Set wrk = ActiveWorkbook 'Working in active workbook For Each sht In wrk.Worksheets If sht.Name = "Master" Then sht.Delete Exit Sub End If Next sht 'We don't want screen updating Application.ScreenUpdating = False 'trg.SaveAs "C:\temp\CPReport1.xls" 'Add new worksheet as the last worksheet Set trg = wrk.Worksheets.Add(After:=wrk.Worksheets(wrk.Worksheets.Count)) 'Rename the new worksheet trg.Name = "Master" 'Get column headers from the first worksheet 'Column count first Set sht = wrk.Worksheets(2) colCount = sht.Cells(1, 255).End(xlToLeft).Column 'Now retrieve headers, no copy&paste needed With trg.Cells(1, 1).Resize(1, colCount) .Value = sht.Cells(1, 1).Resize(1, colCount).Value 'Set font as bold .Font.Bold = True End With trg.SaveAs "C:\temp\CPReport1.xls" 'We can start loop 'Skip Sheet - Connection If Not sht.Name = "Connection" Then For Each sht In wrk.Worksheets 'If worksheet in loop is the last one, stop execution (it is Master worksheet) If sht.Index = wrk.Worksheets.Count Then Exit For End If 'Data range in worksheet - starts from second row as first rows are the header rows in all worksheets Set rng = sht.Range(sht.Cells(2, 1), sht.Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Resize(, colCount)) 'Put data into the Master worksheet '----------------- Error in below line -------------------------------------------------- trg.Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Offset(1).Resize(rng.Rows.Count, rng.Columns.Count).Value = rng.Value '---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next sht End If 'Fit the columns in Master worksheet trg.Columns.AutoFit 'Dim dest, destyfile 'dest = "E:\Test_Merge\" 'destyfile = dest & "_" & trg.Name 'trg.SaveAs (destyfile) 'Screen updating should be activated Application.ScreenUpdating = True End Sub

  • Configuration Error ASP.NET password format specified is invalid

    - by salvationishere
I am getting the above error in IIS 6.0 now when I browse my C# / SQL web application. This was built in VS 2008 and SS 2008 on a 32-bit XP OS. The application was working before I added Login controls to it. However, this is my first time configuring Login/password controls so I am probably missing something really basic. This error doesn't happen until I try to login. Here are the details of my error from IIS; I get the same error in VS: Parser Error Message: Password format specified is invalid. The Network Service account has SELECT, EXECUTE, INSERT, UPDATE access to this database. But one problem I see is that all of the tables in this database are empty except for aspnet_SchemaVersions, which just has 2 records (common and membership). Is this right? I added users and roles via ASP.NET Configuration wizard, and I believe I set this up correctly since I followed the Microsoft tutorial at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998347.aspx. One other problem I see from VS is after adding content to my Page_Load on my initial login Password.aspx.cs file, I'm getting an invalid cast problem below. I googled this problem also but the solutions I saw confused me even more. The Page_Load section I added is: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Write("Hello, " + Server.HtmlEncode(User.Identity.Name)); FormsIdentity id = (FormsIdentity)User.Identity; FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = id.Ticket; Response.Write("<p/>TicketName: " + ticket.Name); Response.Write("<br/>Cookie Path: " + ticket.CookiePath); Response.Write("<br/>Ticket Expiration: " + ticket.Expiration.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>Expired: " + ticket.Expired.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>Persistent: " + ticket.IsPersistent.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>IssueDate: " + ticket.IssueDate.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>UserData: " + ticket.UserData); Response.Write("<br/>Version: " + ticket.Version.ToString()); } And the VS exception I'm getting: System.InvalidCastException was unhandled by user code Message="Unable to cast object of type 'System.Security.Principal.GenericIdentity' to type 'System.Web.Security.FormsIdentity'." • Do WebSockets have exclusive access to their sockets?

    - by Aoriste
I'm curious to know if, after a WebSocket has been established (after having received the proper handshake from a server that supports them), whether or not the TCP socket used by the "WebSocket connection" is used exclusively by the WebSocket, or if the browser may still make regular HTTP requests with it. It only makes sense to me that WebSockets would have exclusive use of their TCP sockets, but I don't remember having read in any of the documentation that such is the case.

  • GZip compression with WCF hosted on IIS7

    - by joniba
So I'm going to add my query to the small ocean of questions on the subject. I'm trying to enable GZip compression on large soap responses from a WCF service. So far, I've followed instructions here and in a variety of other places to enable dynamic compression on IIS. Here's my dynamicTypes section from the applicationHost.config: <dynamicTypes> <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/x-javascript" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/atom+xml" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/xaml+xml" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/xop+xml" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/soap+xml" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="*/*" enabled="false" /> </dynamicTypes> And also: <urlCompression doDynamicCompression="true" dynamicCompressionBeforeCache="true" /> Though I'm not so clear on why that's needed. Threw some extra mime-types in there just in case. I've implemented IClientMessageInspector to add Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate to my client's HttpRequests. Here's an example of a request-header taken from fiddler: POST http://[omitted]/TestMtomService/TextService.svc HTTP/1.1 Content-Type: application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8 Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate Host: [omitted] Content-Length: 542 Expect: 100-continue Now, this doesn't work. There's simply no compression happening, no matter what the size of the message (tried up to 1.5Mb). I've looked at this post, but have not run into an exception as he describes, so I haven't tried the CodeProject implementation that he proposes. Also I've seen a lot of other implementations that are supposed to get this to work, but cannot make sense of them (e.g., msdn's GZip encoder). Why would I need to implement the encoder, or the code-project solution? Shouldn't IIS take care of the compression? So what else do I need to do to get this to work? Joni

  • Detecting REFERRER 301 redirects in AwStats

    - by Riccardo
About six months ago, I have moved a website to a new domain, and helped migration using 301 redirects into .htaccess of the old domain. This morning I was looking at AwStats log of the new domain, and was surpised to notice that in the "HTTP Status codes"section, 301 redirects score 77% of the whole codes (seems 200 are not tracked here). So, what is the proper meaning of the 301 code in those stats? Does it mean that 77% of traffic is incoming (referrer) from 301 redirects or?

  • Can URIs have non-ASCII characters?

    - by Cheeso
I tried to find this in the relevant RFC, IETF RFC 3986, but couldn't figure it. Do URIs for HTTP allow Unicode, or non-ASCII of any kind? Can you please cite the section and the RFC that supports your answer. NB: For those who might think this is not programming related - it is. It's related to an ISAPI filter I'm building.
