• how to effectively keep/update postal and telephone code format for each country?

  hi there, currently we have a table for regex format for phone and postal code for countries that we use to validate when the user register through our forms. but the problem remains on the maintenance on the correctness of these format, thus what's a good way to ensure that we always have the latest copy of this information? is there a web service/etc that i can use to get this? or does it even make sense to keep all these format but instead use a relaxed method to ensure that the user just keys in something which roughly matches the format? the information is used solely for shipping and billing address. we're using asp.net 2.0 btw. thanks ~steve

• How can I move app.config to a different folder inside the Solution Explorer?

  I'm using Visual Studio 2010. In my Solution Explorer I like to sort my Project items into folders (a folder for Forms, a folder for Classes, a Misc folder, etc.) It seems though that if I move the "app.config" file to a folder named "Config Files" everything works until I change a setting in the Settings.settings file. Once I do that, a new app.config is created and the one that was in the "Config Files" folder did not get updated. I have searched the entire solution for the text "app.config" and did not find any results. How can I move this file so that my Solution Explorer looks nice and clean?

• Workflowing an InfoPath form

  I have an InfoPath form that requires workflow. The form is build from a cXML schema in BizTalk,then dropped into a forms library for workflow. The user opens the infopath form, reviews and picks one of several options: re-submit, archive, escalate, etc. My question is how best to workflow this? Do you have the buttons on the form update a status/action field, and have the workflow listen for an onChange event? Can you update a property on the library, that is not a field on the form? for example, if status is not part of the form schema, but is a column on the document library. How do ye typically do this? thanks.

  Hello. I'm PHP-programmer, but I'm extremely interested in learning Java. So I decided to change speciality from PHP to Java. At the moment I have an opportunity to try to make quite simple web-application (it should contain 2-3 forms, several pages with information from the database and authorization module) and also I have a chance to choose any technology I want. Besides I have about 3 months for this task. I've decided to develop site with Java technologies for the purpose of studying. I've already read a book about Java ("Java2 Complete Reference" by P.Naughton) and currently I'm reading "Thinking in Java" by B.Eckel. I clearly understand it's not enough for efficient development, but I want, at least, to try. I would be very appreciated for the advises, which framework (for example) or technology to choose (Spring, Grails etc.) and what primary aspects and technologies of Java should I pay attention to? • Creating a form on non-gui thread

  You can't access gui controls from a thread they were not created on, at least so says the message of an exception that is sometimes raised when you do it. Recently I was puzzled by seeing that forms created on background threads work just fine. My mental model was that all actions initiated by UI input is handled on the GUI thread. Clicking on a button on such a form should raise the dreaded exception (the form and all its controls were created on a background thread not the gui thread), but it doesn't. • Mobile web development - how to?

  Hello, I would like to start developing mobile-friendly versions of websites for my clients, however, I am baffled with options and google search wasn't very helpful - there is so many options and opinions, I've been reading for few days now and still have no idea how to start. What's your opinion/experience about/with it? My main points: mobile devices supported (in order of relevance): iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G, Blackberry, Droid powered mobiles, other phone friendly numbers, phone friendly emails contact/register form working on each (or the most possible) devices listed jQTouch seems superb (simple, quick, working), I'm not sure about it on blackberry/droid and I don't want to create 6 web versions for each mobile device - Makes even less sense if you consider, that I'm starting with small web (6-10 pages, 1 contact form, 3 register forms) to play with. • Escaping quotes twice in PHP

  Hello, I have a complicated form where I first have to take some _GET parameters and obviously I have to do a mysql_real_escape_string() on them since I look stuff up in the database with them. Them problem for me is after the initial db lookup. When the user submits a form, I send them along as a _POST request and obviously have to do this mysql_real_escape_string call again just in case someone tries to hack my site with a faked form submission. Then the problem I have is the arguments are escaped twice and my queries begin to look strange like this: select field1 , field2 , from my_table where some_id = \'.$lookup_id.\' ... So the system seems to be adding \' and it is messing me up :) Also, in my other forms I have not seen such behavior. Any ideas on what may be causing this? One weird thing is that I tried to send unescaped parameters to the post, and the same problem happens. That is a clue, but not a sufficient one for me. :( Thanks, Alex

  So what kind of things should a person using PHP and MySql be focused on to maximize security.   Greetings, stack*overflow* In my database, I already have one table, 'contacts' that contains records of individual people. I also have several other tables in my database which represent "skill sets" that contain records denoting a particular skill. 1) Am I correct in plotting this as a "many-to-many" relationship? (each contact can have multiple skill sets, and each skill set can belong to multiple contacts) 2) I'm new to databases -- do I want to link the tables? 3) Is there a way to implement this in my program (C# + windows forms) such that for any given record in the 'contacts' table, either the names of all associated 'skill set' tables or all the 'skill' records associated with the 'contact' record could be retrieved? (Database is located on SQL Server Express 2008)

• Has anyone ever bought an "Internet Connection" license for WSS 3.0?

  I would like to run a WSS 3.0 that is exposed to the internet and provides access to an arbitrary number of users through forms-based authentication. If the WSS licensing is analogous to that of MOSS, then there should be some special licensing required to make this legitimate. I have seen several vague statements on the internet about an "Internet Connection" license for WSS 3.0, and some more general statements from Mike Walsh to the effect that it costs "around $2000." But I have never seen anything official about this, and I'm not sure if I am even using the correct terminology. Has anyone actually purchased something resembling this license?

• Expiring an IE session using WatiN

  I'm trying to write an acceptance test using WatiN which checks that a user is redirected to the login page if they navigate to a page after their session times out. I'm using WatiN's IE class for the browser, and trying the following: // 1. Login // 2. Do this: Browser.ClearCookies(); Browser.ClearCache(); // 3. Navigate to a different page But the user is always still logged in. Other info: I'm running the test through the NUnit GUI running as an administrator It's an ASP.NET MVC 3 site, using forms authentication and in-process session state I'm using IE9. If I manually clear all cookies in Chrome, the user is logged out If I manually clear all cookies in IE the user stays logged in If I call Browser.Eval("alert(document.cookie)"); in IE it alerts an empty string Given the above, I'm assuming this is a quirk with IE; any ideas how I can work around it?

  I'm building three web applications in .NET that will all share a users database and login information. Lets pretend that application 1 is the "parent" application and applications "A" and "B" are the "child" applications. All users have to be logged into application 1 to have access to applications A and B. Authorization, Authentication, and MachineKey sections of all web configs are present and work correctly. I have the correct web.config settings in all applications to achieve Single Sign On except one problem remains: what do I put in the "loginUrl" attribute of the forms tag in Applications A and B. Assume that the url for the login to application 1 is "www.johnsapp.com/login.aspx" How can I get applications A and B to send the user back to application 1 for authentication using only settings in web.config?

Out of these settings, a few will be used in master page, few on my Page and few in my user control (say login control which is a web user control). I've an entity class MySetting for it and there is a method in my data access layer which returns me an instance of MySetting when I pass the value I got in query string. I don't want to fetch settings from the database multiple times for one request. I'm using asp.net web forms with C# and sql server.

  I am working on a social site where users can block other users. Throughout the site --dozens of places, user information is displayed. For example, user comments, reply forms, online user list.. etc etc.. The problem is that given the high number of places user info is displayed, it's becoming very difficult to check each time if that user is blocked. For example: <g:each var="comment" in="${comments}"> <g:if test="!${loggedInUser.blockedUsers.find { it == comment.user}"> show comment </g:if> </g:each> Does Grails provide any functionality that would facilitate creating some kind of filter or intercepter where I could simply exclude blocked users when iterating lists, etc? • Is there a way to extract the message from a JavaScript dialog in Chrome?

  I’ve been working on an extension for automating tests in Chrome, and I came across an obscure issue with JavaScript dialogs. The message shown in the dialog can’t be readily retrieved/copied. I’ve used the GetWindowText and InternalGetWindowText functions, but they only return the title of the dialog and the text from the buttons, not the actual message itself. I even looked at programs that extract text from forms, but no luck. So does anyone know of a way to retrieve the text from these JavaScript dialogs in Chrome?

  hi. I want to make a user interface in which the user can edit two objects at the same time. The main window would have a vertical split view and a form on each side of the view. The problem is that the two forms are identical and I don't want to duplicate the view components in the interface builder. I want to create the form one time and add a reference to it in each side of the split view, each one using a different object source. I could use a NSForm, but the form is not a simple grid of outputTexts and inputText. They have a master table, and diverse kinds of inputs types, like combos, in the detail. How do I create the reusable form using the interface builder? Or how can I do it programmatically? Do I have to create a subclass of NSView and add the individual components in the code?   Folks I am trying to build a sitemap (we need one badly) for a huge multi-page web app. Technically its not much more than a collection of php/MySQL web forms that use javascript instead of traditional linkage to access the many pages. >td width="100" align="center" ONMOUSEOVER="this.className='bgover'" ONMOUSEOUT="this.className='bgout'" onclick="location.href='../main.php'">Main Page</td> Above is code sample of how the links are currently managed. I know I can search through the various pages, nearly a 1000, and find these "location.href" variables and that will help me a sitemap for each section. But maybe there is an easier way? WE use Trac and SVN so perhaps I am going about this the wrong way? Any advice would be appreciated.

• Is there an open source repository for SQL code?

  I find myself writing SQL code (queries or stored procs) to solve problems that can definitely be defined as 'patterns' that occur frequently in business. Rather than having to wrack my brain each time I encounter a new problem (which must have been solved a countless times by other coders/db analysts, I wondered if there was a repository I could go to check out (peer reviewed) code - and maybe add my two pence every now and then. I know different db vendors tend to write slightly variant forms of SQL - but there could still be a repository with ANSI stuff and proprietary stuff. Hopefully, such a site would encourage more people to write standardized SQL. Is there such a site?. If no - why not? (would anyone else be interested in such a site?) If such a site exists, please provide link(s), as Google is not finding anything remotely useful.

  I have a model form that I use to update a model. class Turtle(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50, blank=False) description = models.TextField(blank=True) class TurtleForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Turtle Sometimes I don't need to update the entire model, but only want to update one of the fields. So when I POST the form only has information for the description. When I do that the model never saves because it thinks that the name is being blanked out while my intent is that the name not change and just be used from the model. turtle_form = TurtleForm(request.POST, instance=object) if turtle_form.is_valid(): turtle_form.save() Is there any way to make this happen?
