• Spinner cannot load an integer array?

  I have an application, which has a Spinner that I want populated with some numbers (4,8,12,16). In objective C I know you can use performSelectorOnMainThread and pass it a method to call using the main thread. What is the equivalent way of calling ImportProgressChanged() from the main thread?

  I just started working with C & Xcode and I've run into a little difficulty. All I want to do is read a file from the command line and see the output in the terminal. I think my problem lies with the path to the file that I want to read in. I'm using a Mac and the file is on my desktop, so the path should be Users/myName/Desktop/words.txt. Is this correct? • Calling activateWindow on QDialog sends window to background

  I am debugging certain application written with C++/Qt4. On Linux it has problems that with certain window managers (gnome-wm/metacity), the main window (based on QDialog) is created in the background (it's not raised). I managed to re-create the scenario using PyQt4 and following code: from PyQt4.QtCore import * from PyQt4.QtGui import * import sys class PinDialog(QDialog): def showEvent(self, event): QDialog.showEvent(self, event) self.raise_() self.activateWindow() if __name__ == "__main__": app = QApplication(sys.argv) widget = PinDialog() app.setActiveWindow(widget) widget.exec_() sys.exit(0) If I remove self.activateWindow() the application works as expected. This seems wrong, since documentation for activateWindow does not specify any conditions under which something like this could happen. My question is: Is there any reason to have activateWindow in showEvent in the first place? If there is some reason, what would be good workaround for focusing issues?

• Floating point vs integer calculations on modern hardware

  I am doing some performance critical work in C++, and we are currently using integer calculations for problems that are inherently floating point because "its faster". This causes a whole lot of annoying problems and adds a lot of annoying code. Now, I remember reading about how floating point calculations were so slow approximately circa the 386 days, where I believe (IIRC) that there was an optional co-proccessor. But surely nowadays with exponentially more complex and powerful CPUs it makes no difference in "speed" if doing floating point or integer calculation? Especially since the actual calculation time is tiny compared to something like causing a pipeline stall or fetching something from main memory? I know the correct answer is to benchmark on the target hardware, what would be a good way to test this? I wrote two tiny C++ programs and compared their run time with "time" on Linux, but the actual run time is too variable (doesn't help I am running on a virtual server). Short of spending my entire day running hundreds of benchmarks, making graphs etc. is there something I can do to get a reasonable test of the relative speed? Any ideas or thoughts? Am I completely wrong?   I'm looking for a solution to create a sort of template in Objective C. I'll try to explain my problem. I would create a sort of main view which has 1 side bar that remain always visible. This side bar have controls. The main view is responsible to load a Navigation Controller (UINavigationController seems to be ok) that manages other views. When switching a view to another, the sidebar always remain visible under the Navigation Controller and its views. Through the controls of the sidebar, it's possible to send event to a specific view loaded by the Navigation Controller. Any idea to create a similar template? Thank you. Best regards.

• UIView Subview Does not autoresize on orientation change

  In my iPhone app, I have a view controller with two views (essentially, a front & back view). The front view is the main UIView, and the back view is a secondary UIView which is added as a subview using [self.view addSubview:backView] when showing the back and [backView removeFromSuperview] when hiding it. However, when the orientation changes, I have the following issue: the main UIView (frontView) rotates & all of its elements resize properly, but the secondary/subview UIView (backView) does not rotate & all of its elements do not resize properly. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make the secondary UIView autoresize properly according to the rules I have set in Interface Builder?

• Why is ContextConfiguration location different in idea and eclipse

  Hello experts. In my team we work both in Eclipse and Idea. That works pretty good, except for one minor issue that I can't figure out how to solve. When setting the ContextConfiguration location in our tests and running them inside Eclipse everything works like a charm: @Test(groups = { "database" }) @ContextConfiguration(locations = {" file:src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml" }) But in my Idea env I get "could not find applicationContext" error. I need to set the location like this(project name is services): @Test(groups = { "database" }) @ContextConfiguration(locations = {" file:services/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml" }) The project structure is like this: parent.pom with two child poms: services.pom and other.pom. When running the test in the terminal from the service project like this: mvn -Dtest=com.mytest.service.somepackage.TheTest test there are no issues. I guess that since my project structure is parent-with-two-children the need of /service is necessary(The project is created by pointing out the parent pom). Is there a way to fix this? Could you please help me with a solution. thx

  I have 2 div's contained in a third. One of the contained div's is floated left, the other floated right. I would like the 2 sibling div's to always be at the same height, but am having a problem with this. So far I am only viewing the page in Firefox, and figured I'd worry about any cross-browser issues after I get it working in at least one browser. I understand I might be going about this the wrong way, and if this is a duplicate questions then I apologize, but I wasn't quite sure what to search under.

• Maven webapp with maven-eclipse-plugin doesn't generates <dependent-module>

  I use the eclipse:eclipse goal to generate an Eclipse Project environment. The deployment works fine. The goal creates the var classpath entries for all needed dependencies. With m2eclipse there was the Maven Container which defines an export folder which was WEB-INF/lib for me. But i don't want to rely on m2eclipse so i don't use it anymore. the class path entries which are generated by eclipse:eclipse goal don't have such a export folder. While booting the servlet container with WTP it publishes all resources and classes except the libraries to the context. Whats missing to publish the needed libs, or isn't that possible without m2eclipse integration?   I wonder whether I could use QEventLoop (QProcess?) to parallelize multiple calls to same function with Qt. What is precisely the difference with QtConcurrent or QThread? What is a process and an event loop more precisely? I read that QCoreApplication must exec() as early as possible in main() method, so that I wonder why it is different from main Thread. could you point as some efficient reference to processes and thread with Qt? • mvvm-light: Should we merge Cleanup methods in locator?

  Hi there, when creating a new ViewModel within the locator class using the snippet it creates a Cleanup Method but there is already one available from the Main so hence an error.... Should we merge them all?? Or should we be renaming the method to Cleanup[Name of viewmodel] for example. I am a little confused here Another question i would like to ask is regards to the naming conventions. I tried to follow the naming convention used with "MAIN"... hence i have CreateLogin, ClearLogin, Login (non static property for binding) etc etc.. Would it not be better to use CreateLoginViewModel, ClearLoginViewModel etc?? Just curious Thanks

• help with making a password checker in java

  Hello, I am trying to make a program in Java that checks for three specific inputs. It has to be 1. At least 7 characters. 2. Contain both upper and lower case alphabetic characters. 3. Contain at least 1 digit. So far I have been able to make it check if there is 7 characters, but I am having trouble with the last two. What should I put in my loop as an if statement to check for digits and make it upper and lower case. Any help would be greatly appreciated. • How do I persist form data across an "access denied" page in Drupal?

  We're building a small sub-site that, on the front page, has a one input box form that users can submit. From there, they're taken to a page with a few more associated form fields (add more details, tag it, etc.) with the first main form field already filled in. This works splendidly, thus far. The problem comes for users that are not logged in. When they submit that first form, they're taken to a (LoginToboggan based) login page that allows them to login. After they login, they redirect to the second form page, but the first main form field isn't filled in -- in other words, the form data didn't persist. How can we store that data and have it persist across the access denied page?
