• [WordPress 3.1.3] Sreen option is disabled when a plugin is activated

  I'm pretty new to wordpress. I was assigned to create a custom plugin for one of our projects here. The plugin worked as expected and there is no problem activating/deactivating it. When I was exploring the admin panel I noticed that the screen option is off. I read from a blog somewhere that deactivating the plugin one by one to check which plugin has caused this. I did just this and found out that the custom plugin I created was the cause. My question is, is there way to check what have caused this? Some log file I can look into? There is no error message or warning when I activated the plugin and it is giving the output required. This is my first plugin, any advice will be helpful. Btw, this plugin will display a comment (most recent will be shown first) in a widget and there is prev/next navigation to go through the rest of the comments. Thanks, RNorbe

• Mongoose Not Creating Indexes

  I have been trying all afternoon to get my node.js application to create MongoDB indexes properly. I am using the Mongoose ODM and in my schema definition below I have the username field set to a unique index. The collection and document all get created properly, it's just the indexes that aren't working. All the documentation says that the ensureIndex command should be run at startup to create any indexes, but none are being made. I'm using MongoLab for hosting if that matters. I have also repeatedly dropped the collection. • What exactly is Appdomain recycling

  Hi, I am trying to figure out what exactly is Appdomain recycling? When a aspx page is requested for the first time from a DotNet application, i understand that an appdomain for that app is created, and required assemblies are loaded into that appdomain, and the request will be served. Now, if the web.config file or the contents of the bin folder, etc are modified, the appdomain will be "recycled". My question is, at the end of the recycling process, will the appdomain be loaded with assemblies and ready to serve the next request? or a page has to be requested to trigger the assemblies to load?.

• Using xval with fields containing periods

  Hello, I have been using xVal with success for a while but this evening ran into an issue where a field containing a period would not be validated (client or server-side). I am using ASP.NET MVC2 and need to use the period syntax in cases where I am model binding to a list. In the below example I am using a textbox for the sake of simplicity: xVal.AttachValidator(null, { "Fields": [{ "FieldName": "entry[622592].Value", "FieldRules": [{ "RuleName": "Required", "RuleParameters": {}}]}] }, {}) <input type="text" class="text" name="entry[622592].Value"/> If I replace both instances of "entry[622592].Value" to something trivial like "test" then the validation works successfully, but if i leave it this way the validation never appears to fire...   In this commit there is a change I cannot explain deferred.done.apply( deferred, arguments ).fail.apply( deferred, arguments ); becomes deferred.done( arguments ).fail( arguments ); AFAIK, when you invoke a function as a member of some object like obj.func(), inside the function this is bound to obj, so there would be no use invoking a function through apply() just to bound this to obj. Instead, according to the comments, this was required because of some preceding $.Callbacks.add implementation. My doubt is not about jQuery, but about the Javascript language itself: when you invoke a function like obj.func(), how can it be that inside func() the this keyword is not bound to obj?

• Timespan not accepting day in MVC3

  I have a MVC3 application in which i want to set a timespan to for example 2 days and 5 hours. when i enter 02:05:00:00 it gives me the following exception: System.OverflowException: SqlDbType.Time overflow. Value '2.05:00:00' is out of range. Must be between 00:00:00.0000000 and 23:59:59.9999999. When i enter 05:00:00 it correctly saves 5 hours into the database. according to MSDN timespan has a property for days. How do i correctly set the days? Model: public class ProductionTimeVM { [Required] public TimeSpan DefaultTime { get; set; } } In my view i just use: @Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.DefaultTime) For my controller: public ActionResult SaveProductionTime(ProductionTimeVM vm) { ProductionTime productionTime = new ProductionTime(); productionTime.Default = vm.DefaultTime; //some more code } Any idea's?

• Converting delimited string to multiple values in mysql

  I have a mysql legacy table which contains an client identifier and a list of items, the latter as a comma-delimited string. E.g. "xyz001", "foo,bar,baz". This is legacy stuff and the user insists on being able to edit a comma delimited string. They now have a requirement for a report table with the above broken into separate rows, e.g. "xyz001", "foo" "xyz001", "bar" "xyz001", "baz" Breaking the string into substrings is easily doable and I have written a procedure to do this by creating a separate table, but that requires triggers to deal with deletes, updates and inserts. This query is required rarely (say once a month) but has to be absolutely up to date when it is run, so e.g. the overhead of triggers is not warranted and scheduled tasks to create the table might not be timely enough. Is there any way to write a function to return a table or a set so that I can join the identifier with the individual items on demand?

  Hello guys, I have a site running in django, and want to make available this content on third party site. In these sites they make my content in a tag. When my site is required from within that iframe I would like to modify the content (remove header, filter data, etc.). What better way to do this? Is there any way of knowing that the request is being made from an iframe? Multiples sites will request the same url, can i change the content, based on the source site? thanks! ps.: sorry for my bad english :/

• Why is this CustomValidator client function not firing?

  I have a dropdown with the Id of "BACKGROUND" and if nothing is selected or the value is other, it should fire my client side validation function, but it is not. Am I missing something? • OS monitoring using JAVA

  I'm planning to implement a framework for monitoring OS level resources: process network stats cpu info etc using JAVA. I see there is SIGAR API by Spring, which is implemented in native language and JAVA API being provided on top. But I will prefer not to have native stuff in my framework, rather for each OS will write a Java Class which will fetch required OS info by running system commands via JAVA Runtime. So I would like to have inputs/suggestions that one may have seen of not doing this in JAVA and use native app/api/jni. Any example will help for sure. I agree each OS has different commands to get these stats, but will prefer to have a Java Class per OS than have/load native code.

  I'm an iPhone programmer who is no longer in possession of a personal Mac computer on which to use XCode. I have two Windows desktops, and I would like to run OS X in VMWare rather than purchase Apple's expensive hardware. However, neither of my machines supports hardware-assisted virtualization, which is required to virtualize OS X. I went shopping online for a computer today, since I've been planning to purchase a laptop anyway, but sites like Best Buy don't appear to give any indication of whether or not a product supports this. Is there any other site out there or some trick to figuring this out other than buying the machine and running Microsoft's nifty little detection tool?

  Hi, I am required to install two security certifcates on user's PC's to allow them to connect to a certain Australian Government website to perform searchs. I can perform this manually (via Certifcate Import Wizard) when the user has logged into the machine, however when a different user logs in, the certifcates need to be re-installed for that user as well. Q1. Can certifcates ( the file extension is .p12) be installed in such a way that any user using the PC can use the certifcates? Q2. • MySQL: How to consume/discard the result of a query?

  I have a stored procedure which executes an optimize table statement for every table in a DB. Those optimize table statements are prepared statements of course (they have to be built at runtime) and I need to call that procedure from PHP using ext/mysql API. Unfortunately, ext/mysql does't support doing such thing because optimize table returns a result set and in order to handle that, the new mysql protocol is required, which is supported by the "new" ext/mysqli API. Well... there are several things I dont have control over, so it's not in my posibilities to upgrade to ext/mysqli any time soon, nor can I implement the procedure as PHP code rather than sql code. So I thought if it would be possible somehow to consume/discard the result of optimize table inside the stored procedure so that ext/mysql doesn't complain about it. One thing to consider is that since the optimize table statements are prepared statements, you can't use a cursor over them.

• Xcode automatically converts the object to NSArray

  I have been working on an app and during the development, I am facing a very strange problem. I have a NSMutableArray tempSortedArray, which is full of objects of Store types. All the objects are valid as I can see them in my GUI, the problem arises when I iterate through the array, at index 90, which can be generally anyone, the XCode converts the Store object to NSMutableArray object. Any idea, why this is happening.   In working on larger Actionscript/Flash projects, I've started to really feel the need for some kind of "make" system, but I haven't found it yet. Does anyone know if it exists? Required features: Ability to associate SWCs with their source code and/or FLAs i.e. "this swc is compiled from this source" Ability to mark my current project as depending on these SWCs (either as compile-time or runtime libraries) A single, big shiny button, that when pressed does the following: Checks to see if any of the source files have changed, and if so, recompiles their associated SWCs Recompiles and relinks the main .swf, if necessary Runs the main .swf Have yet to find a way to get something like FlashDevelop to do this (but I don't know it well enough to be sure). Support for both code and FLA sources is preferred.

• Wpf button click when application window is not active

  I have a WPF application window with a button (ButtonA) which has a command binding to a View Model property. When another application is launched the focus is lost and application window is deactivated. Clicking ButtonA now doesn’t execute the command but instead only activates the window and sets the focus to the button. 2nd click is required to fire the command. The desired functionality is on click of ButtonA while the application window is not active, the application window activates and command associated with ButtonA is executed. I have also tried removing the command and adding a click handler for test purpose but this displays same behaviour. I appreciate any help with this issue.

  Hi; I'm trying to register a simple MSV1_0 subauthentication package for MS Windows Server 2003. I created a dll which implements required functions described in MSDN. I copied my dll to system32 folder. After that, I created a registry key Auth255 (I also tried Auth128) with a REG_SZ value ,which specifies my dll name, to this location; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0. I expect that it will create a test.txt file for debugging puposes when the dll is called, but it doesn't create the file. How can I make this work? • Quick to develop web app in Java

  Hi all, I need to develop a basic web app very quickly (1 week) for a demo. My requirements are Java (I need to make use of existing Java libraries to access the relevant data) 2 screens One for static data view, maybe some search parameters Other for basic form entry No fancy AJAX required Ideally easy for a web designer to come in and tart it up as necessary, without having to rewrite everything My first stop was going to be to checkout Wicket as I've heard good things about it. I don't have the time right now to dive into anything heavy, which probably writes off JSF in my mind (I played with JSF1, steep learning curve which I've now slid back down). I'm happy to treat the result as throwaway so if there's a framework which starts of well but then doesn't scale up to bigger projects, that would be ok. Any suggestions appreciated on frameworks/approach.

• Could/Should I use static classes in asp.net/c# for shared data?

  Here's the situation I have: I'm building an online system to be used by school groups. Only one school can log into the system at any one time, and from that school you'll get about 13 users. They then proceed into a educational application in which they have to co-operate to complete tasks, and from a code point of view, sharing variables all over the place. I was thinking, if I set up a static class with static properties that hold the variables that are required to be shared, this could save me having to store/access the variables in/from a database, as long as the static variables are all properly initialized when the application starts and cleaned up at the end. Of course I would also have to put locks on the get and set methods to make the variables thread safe. Something in the back of my mind is telling me this might be a terrible way of going about things, but I'm not sure exactly why, so if people could give me their thoughts for or against using a static class in this situation, I would be quite appreciative.

• Confusion using MYSQLI

  I just started using mysqli API for PHP. Apparently, every time an object of the class MYSQLI is instantiated, it can setup a connection to the database as it connects to the server unlike mysql_connect, which connects to the server first and then you are required to specify the database to query. Now this is a good problem if the db exists, in my case, the db does not exist on the first ever connection to the server/execution of the problem, hence I must connect without specifying the database, which is fine, since the msyqli constructor does not make this database mandatory. My challenge is essentially, how do I check if the database exists before attempting the first connection. The only way to really do this would be to establish a conection to the server and then use the result of the following query to gauge if the database exists: SELECT COUNT(*) AS `exists` FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.SCHEMATA WHERE SCHEMATA.SCHEMA_NAME="dbname" ; If this returns true, then the database exists, but now the challenge is how do I get the mysqli object to query this database rather than having to prefix the name of the database in the query.   Hello... I am using rhino and Scripting for the Java Platform in order to allow the user extend my application. However the user can write some cases eg (ASTO.value>440) || (ASTO.bellowNormal) etc... The problem is that before running the script from my JAVA application using ScriptEngine i want to get the names of all the variables! Because i should know which variables are required for the script to run... I know that a regular expression would do the job but i amnt sure... Please i somebody could help me figure out the java regexp to get the variables i would really appriciate it..
