  • Running qinet on windows 7

    Hello. Last week I was running this tn5257 emulator for as400. And no I can't as soon as it starts it closes down. I already turned off the firewall thinking it could be that, but it isn't.     When exactly does ISC dhcpd forget a lease that is not explicitly freed by the client? Context: I am running an installation with many small pools (3 address) and it does not seem to cope well when all three leases are taken. Nevertheless I see entries in dhcpd.leases-file whose end date has passed. Also, these entries are counted towards the number of used leases for the adaptive lease time feature. Shouldn’t these be considered unused?

  • Microphones not working on Apple macbook Air 1,1 (Early 2008) under Linux

    I'm running Linux on an mba. I can't make the microphones (neither external nor internal) work. I test using alsamixer and arecord -d 5 test-mic.waw together with aplay test-mic.waw It seems there is a problem with kernel trying to decipher Apple (intentionally) corrupted 'bios', in particular the mic pins are wrongly assigned. As far as we are concerned here, is there any difference between using EFI and BIOS-compatibility mode? (see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MacBook where they claim to have everything working out of the box on mba1,1) A nice proposal would be to compile the latest Linux kernel and run hda-jack-retask to find the right configuration (in the case of Realtek codec, the missing things I'm supposed to check are either some vendor-specific COEF verbs, EAPD or GPIO setup.), and then come up with a kernel patch to address the issue. Since I'm not that familiar with this last part of the story, can anyone help me through this process?   • Python install issue on Mac OS X

    I have been using the standard python that comes with OS X Lion (2.7.2) but I wanted to build a UCS-4 version to handle 4-byte unicode characters better. I had already installed pip and packages like pytz, virtualenv and virtualenvwrapper, etc., and these are installed in /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages. My $PATH is /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin. To build a new version of python on the machine (outside of any project specific virtual environments, that will come later), I followed the instructions on this article and managed to build it in /usr/local/bin. The problem is that when I launched a new bash window, I got the following virtualenvwrapper error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named virtualenvwrapper.hook_loader virtualenvwrapper.sh: There was a problem running the initialization hooks. If Python could not import the module virtualenvwrapper.hook_loader, check that virtualenv has been installed for VIRTUALENVWRAPPER_PYTHON=/usr/local/bin/python and that PATH is set properly. The instructions said to move /usr/local/bin to the top of the /etc/paths file, and since then I've noticed some strange issues. I installed pip into /usr/local/bin and now I have assumed that since I'm working in /usr/local/bin, and the newly installed python's site packages is now located in /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages, when I do pip freeze, it should be empty as nothing is installed there yet. However, pip freeze still reports things installed in the old (OS X) site-packages folder. Here's some info after the build: $ which python /usr/local/bin/python $ which pip /usr/local/bin/pip $ echo $PATH /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin When I uninstall a python package with pip, it removes it from the old site-packages folder as expected. When I install it again, instead of installing it in /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages, it installs it in /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages (verified by attempting to install it again and receiving Requirement already satisfied (use --upgrade to upgrade): pytz in /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages ). How is it getting that path for the old site-packages folder? Why won't it install it in the correct location for the python install it's using? I'm getting several other issues since promoting /usr/local/bin but I think if I understand this I'll be able to get somewhere. Can anyone see what's happening?   • JDBCRealm can't find sqlite file

    My authentication fails with java.sql.SQLException: no such table: credentials where credentials is the name of the user/password table. I have checked the db file and the table is there. I think you also get this error when sqlite jdbc can't even find the file. I am specifying my realm in a META-INF/context.xml file. Is there any trick to getting the path right? I have tried just about everything I can think of.

  • Starting/Stopping Custom PHP Chat Server Linux Service (CentOS)

    I have been trying all night to get this service working properly. I created this script from a template and am very new to bash coding. I wrote a fully functioning chat server in php which runs endlessly, but now want to make it a dedicated service. I want to do this so that it starts on server boot and boots back up if possible when there are any down-times with the server. The issue is that I need this thing to run in a detached screen so that I can monitor packet data or send server commands via SSH when need-be. The main problem that i'm having is that it needs to have its own PID when it starts so that I can stop/restart it when needed. I am the type who grinds on coding until I figure it out, but this is so new to me that it seems the learning curve here is very steep and frustrating. I was wondering if anyone knows which tool produce such logs and if there are any tools that would parse and analyze the logs?

    Hi, What is the I/O load on the local disk system for the host OS in XenServer ? I can't find this info anywhere.     I'm looking to find out detailed specifications for the built-in GPS hardware in the Blackberry Bold and Curve devices (9000 and 8350). RIM's documentation includes just a rudimentary description of the specs, but I'm looking for things like the actual detailed hardware/chipset info so we can research the accuracy needs for some upcoming projects we have. Knowing simply "A-GPS support" isn't really good enough... Does anyone know of any resources for finding advanced specs for built-in Blackberry hardware?

  • Adding EXIF Lens data for old or manual lenses (e.g "Lens Baby")

    I have a Lens Baby Composer, which is an entirely mechanical lens (no electronics in it), so the camera body cannot determine what lens is attached.. So obviously the metadata does not contain the lens info.. Is there any way to manually set this metadata, so the photos don't show up as "Unknown Lens" in Aperture/Lightroom/etc It's a Canon 5D Mark II (so the native files are .cr2)

    I've created an EC2 instance, created an EBS volume, attached it to the running instance, and successfully ssh'ed into my instance. The drive is attached as /dev/sdf Next, I tried mounting the drive by running: mkdir /testName mount -t ext3 /dev/sdf /testName But then I get the error message: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdf, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so What am I doing wrong?     We Have : Exchange 2007 Standard Edition IBM System X3650 2 x Intel Xeon 5430 2.66 GHz Version 8.1 Build 240.6 Mailbox, Hub Transport, Client Access Role Installed on One Box Total Number of Mailboxes : 110 - 130 6 Physical Disks Disk 0,1 (68 GB) = Raid-1, OS Partition ( C: Partition) Disk 2,3 (279GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Database (First and Second Storage Groups) ( D: Partition ) Disk 4,5 (68 GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Transaction Logs ( E: Partition ) Setup: Storage Groups : D:\First Storage group\Mailbox database.edb Storage Groups : D:\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database.edb Transaction Logs : E Partition Problem 1: On our D Partition (Mailbox Database Partition), total size is 279 GB, free space remaining is 64.7 GB, when I select the first storage group and second storage group folders and right click properties they report a size of 165 GB. Mailbox database reports a size of 157GB when right clicked Properties. where as the size displayed in the folder is 164,893,456 KB So, we are missing around 50-54 GB, there is nothing else on these drives, no page file, nothing at all. The partition housing the Transaction logs is reporting the sizes accurately. Any suggestions / fixes on the above ? Problem 2: As you may have already read in Problem 1, the size of the mailbox database is 157GB or 164GB reported; which is not recommended, a) What would you suggest we should do to divide mailboxes in storage groups on this same server ? b) How would we move mailboxes into different storage groups ? c) This is the information store size ? (Am I right in thinking that this is not recommended) d) Having multiple storage groups with one Mailbox DB in each, would that reduce the size of the Information Store? e) Any suggestions / how-to reduce the size of information store ? We didn't install this, we have inherited this - what other recommendations you can make in order to keep ourselves better prepared for any server disaster? We are backing up with Yosemite Backup on RD1000 (320GB) at the moment, which is backing up successfully, flushing the logs daily. We haven't done a test restore YET. I have tried to provide as much info as possible, please let me know if you need further info. Also, we haven't yet faced any problems in mailflow, access speeds, everything is working fine, we have two to five people accessing OWA or Outlook via vpn only.   • WebGL Not working in FF4b7 (with enabled_for_all_sites=true)

    I was trying to load the cool Kataspace WebGL demo (more info) and I get the error message "Your browser doesn't support WebGL. Currently we recommend the latest Firefox 4 Beta for all platforms." I checked around and every piece of advice I can find on the internet says to set webgl.enabled_for_all_sites to true in the about:config page. Mine is set to true yet I still receive the same message. Does anyone know of any other items that may be conflicting with WebGL running properly?

    Why would BitDefender Bootable Rescue CD (and loads of other Rescue CDs too) be able to identify but unable to fix or delete malware? It can however put it into quarintine. And what happens when the viruses are put into quarintine? It dosn't really mean anything if it can successfully put the malware into quarintine if it's a CD-bootable OS. It's only quarintined in the context of the memory it exists in. When I restart windows, I'm still infected with loads of viruses. Thanks Dave
