Hi all
I am using windows authentication within an ASP.NET application. I am wondering how to best get the objectGuid from the currently logged in user?
Regards, Egil.
is there any custom asp.net membership providers that someone has already created online. I want to use a custom provider because their role provider is very sluggish and I would like to use integers instead of guids for user IDs
I need to use functionality that ObservableCollection provides, in my asp.net app. My only concern is that this class is a part of WindowsBase assembly and I'm not sure if it's a good idea to include a windows assembly in a web project.
Any ideas/comments?
Thanks!
I am using VS 2010 Express. This error appear "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM compenent" When i try to Add ADO.NET Entity Data Model. We are doing a small dashboard to retrieve and display the DHCP servers list in a LAN and then getting the Scope information like IPs used and unused and the count using .NET preferably C#. How could that be made possible.
Can I write code against .Net 4 and its libraries using VS2008? If so how should I configure it?
I realise that VS2008 will probably struggle with language changes such as the dynamic keyword but can I install the version 4 and target it anyway? My only real interest is in being able to use some of the new libraries, in particular I'm interested in the TPL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_Extensions)
Hi,
I hope somebody can help me out on this question.
I'm using a SQL database and I'm writing a VB.NET client application. This application is used on multiple computers at the same time. If one of the clients makes an update to the database I would like to have the other clients to be aware of the update.
Has ony one already done this before?
Thank you very much!
Marcel

Say I have this url:
http://site.example/dir/
In this folder I have these files: test.ascx.cs and test.ascx
Just to be clear, I am not a .NET developer.
From a security point of view - why can't I access http://site.example/dir/test.ascx.cs and how secure is it to keep those files there?
I assume IIS filters out request that query these kind of files, but can someone explain me this?
Thank you.
I'm an ASP.NET c# developer using VS2010 as my development platform. I am interested in accessing Sketchup models using a web form interface.
Has anyone done this? I am looking for a simple "Hellow World" web application that uses the Ruby Extension model.

I followed the answer to this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1245364/securing-elmah-in-asp-net-website to restrict access to the elmah handler. However, it seems that adding an RSS feed to Outlook for the URL elmah.axd/rss or elmah.axd/digestrss bypasses the authentication. What's the point of securing the handler if someone can guess the RSS URL and subscribe to a feed of the error log?
If you have a fair number of regular expressions used by both client (javascript) and server side code (C#, vb.net) and want to store them in one place to avoid duplication, where do you store them?
I could use registerscript and write out the regex as strings, but just wondering if there is something more elegant.
Hi,
I need to change the code of some asp.net application but the application is missing its .cs files, there are only .aspx files. As I read in google, I understand that the application is a precompiled website. I am not too familiar with it so the question is, can I somehow retrieve the code-behind .cs files of this application because I need to change some functions there. Surely there is a way I can access them or retrieve them somehow?
Thanks in advance,
Greg

I'm currently writing some code that uses Flee to evaluate a number of rules and I'd like to include an ASP.NET based object inspector in the configuration screen so users can inspect the values of objects that are made available.
I've put together a fairly basic routine to recurse an objects properties and spit it out but before I go and write something more polished, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a component that provides this functionality.
Hi, guys.
Now on unauthorized attempt to access an action my ASP.NET MVC app redirects user to the login page and generates URL shown below:
http://www.mysite.com/Account/Log?ReturnUrl=%2Ftest%2Fsampleaction
So, is there a way to eliminate this string from the URL, but to save it somewhere to be able to redirect user back after login?

I want to override a string from a System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations for an ASP.NET project. Do I need to make a satellite assembly, messing with custom build tasks, al.exe etc.? Even if yes, I couldn't find how to convert .resx to .resources to feed it to al.exe. And if no, where to put the .resx. and how to name it?
We have an ASP.NET form with the following doctype:-
We need to add autocomplete=off (by setting the TextBox property of AutoCompleteType="Disabled") to the input fields but still need the form to pass XHTML Validation (yes I know it's not XHTML valid because of this).
Is there anythign we can do to ignore the autocomplete=off??
Something like:-
!ATTLIST input autocomplete CDATA #IMPLIED
Thanks in advance.
