  • Oracle Date Format Convert Hour-Minute to Interval and Disregard Year-Month-Day

    - by dlite922
    I need to compare an event's half-way midpoint between a start and stop time of day. Right now i'm converting the dates you see on the right, to HH:MM and the comparison works until midnight. the query says: WHERE half BETWEEN pStart and pStop. As you can see below, pStart and pStap have January 1st 2000 dates, this is because the year month day are not important to me... Valid Data: +-------+--------+-------+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+ | half | pStart | pStop | half2 | pStart2 | pStop2 | +-------+--------+-------+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+ | 19:00 | 19:00 | 23:00 | 2012-11-04 19:00:00 | 2000-01-01 19:00:00 | 2000-01-01 23:00:00 | | 20:00 | 19:00 | 23:00 | 2012-11-04 20:00:00 | 2000-01-01 19:00:00 | 2000-01-01 23:00:00 | | 21:00 | 19:00 | 23:00 | 2012-11-04 21:00:00 | 2000-01-01 19:00:00 | 2000-01-01 23:00:00 | | 23:00 | 20:00 | 23:00 | 2012-11-05 23:00:00 | 2000-01-01 20:00:00 | 2000-01-01 23:00:00 | +-------+--------+-------+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+ Now observe what happens when pStop is midnight or later... Valid Data that breaks it: +-------+--------+-------+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+ | half | pStart | pStop | half2 | pStart2 | pStop2 | +-------+--------+-------+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+ | 23:00 | 22:00 | 00:00 | 2012-11-04 23:00:00 | 2000-01-01 22:00:00 | 2000-01-01 00:00:00 | | 23:30 | 23:00 | 02:00 | 2012-11-05 23:30:00 | 2000-01-01 23:00:00 | 2000-01-01 02:00:00 | +-------+--------+-------+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+ Thus my where clause translates to: WHERE 19:00 BETWEEN 22:00 AND 00:00 ...which returns false and I miss those two correct rows above. Question: Is there a way to show those dates as integer interval so that saying half BETWEEN pStart and pStop are correct? I thought about adding 24 when pStop is less than pStart to make 00:00 into 24:00 but don't know an easy way to do that without long string concatenations and number conversions. This would solve the problem because pStart pStop difference will never be longer than 6 hours. Note: (The Query is much more complex. It has other irrelevant date calculations, but the result are show above. DATE_FORMAT(%H:%i) is applied to the first three columns and no formatting to the last three) Thanks for your help:

  • Odd 'UNION' behavior in an Oracle SQL query

    - by RenderIn
Here's my query: SELECT my_view.* FROM my_view WHERE my_view.trial in (select 2 as trial_id from dual union select 3 from dual union select 4 from dual) and my_view.location like ('123-%') When I execute this query it returns results which do not conform to the my_view.location like ('123-%') condition. It's as if that condition is being ignored completely. I can even change it to my_view.location IS NULL and it returns the same results, despite that field being not-nullable. I know this query seems ridiculous with the selects from dual, but I've structured it this way to replicate a problem I have when I use a 'WITH' clause (the results of that query are where the selects from dual inline view are). I can modify the query like so and it returns the expected results: SELECT my_view.* FROM my_view WHERE my_view.trial in (2, 3, 4) and my_view.location like ('123-%') Unfortunately I do not know the trial values up front (they are queried for in a 'WITH' clause) so I cannot structure my query this way. What am I doing wrong? I will say that the my_view view is composed of 3 other views whose results are UNION ALL and each of which retrieve some data over a DB Link. Not that I believe that should matter, but in case it does.

  • How to drop null values with a native Oracle XML DB Web Service?

    - by gfjr
    I am using native Oracle XML DB Web Services (using a PL/SQL function with a web service). I want to drop null values (put nothing in the output (no XML element)). It's working with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 but not with Oracle 11.2.0.3.0. Just to clarify... I don't want to consume a webservice with PL/SQL, I want to publish my PL/SQL packages/procedures/functions as a web service! Hope someone can help me. Thank you. In this example is the column "country" null. Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (this is what I want): <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"> <soap:Body> <GET_PERSONOutput xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/orawsv/TESTSTUFF/GET_PERSON"> <RETURN> <PERSON> <PERSON_ID>3</PERSON_ID> <FIRST_NAME>Harry</FIRST_NAME> <LAST_NAME>Potter</LAST_NAME> </PERSON> </RETURN> </GET_PERSONOutput> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope> Oracle 11.2.0.3.0: <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"> <soap:Body> <GET_PERSONOutput xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/orawsv/TESTSTUFF/GET_PERSON"> <RETURN> <PERSON> <PERSON_ID>3</PERSON_ID> <FIRST_NAME>Harry</FIRST_NAME> <LAST_NAME>Potter</LAST_NAME> <COUNTRY/> </PERSON> </RETURN> </GET_PERSONOutput> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope>

  • Oracle - Updating one column or another based on a condition

    - by z-dan
    I want to update a record in a table but based on a condition I will either update one column or another but I do not want to have 2 separate statements because the statements are very long and detailed. Here is the basic idea with over simplification to get to the point. PROCEDURE Animal_something(p_updater VARCHAR2) begin if p_updater = 'person' then -- I want to update the modified_by else -- if p_updater = 'a process' I want to update modified_by_process Update table_creatures set animal_type = 'Dog , **modified_by** = 'Bob' **or do this** **modified_by_process =** 'creature_package' where animal_legs = '4' I don't want: if p_updater = 'person' then Update table_creatures set animal_type = 'Dog , modified_by = 'Bob' where animal_legs = '4'; else Update table_creatures set animal_type = 'Dog , modified_by_process = 'creature_package' where animal_legs = '4'; end;

  • I need a program to store the database script for oracle

    - by Hakan Kara
We are developing a project that has 3 enviroments (development, test, production) So there are 3 databases (actually more than 3, because we have 5 customers so we have more than 10 databases) and they must be synchronised. There are 30 coders working for this project. Everone adds, deletes, and changes procedures, table columns etc. We need a program to store our database scripts like visual studio's team foundation server. See the change history of script file. Everyone must access that program and be able to put their scripts. Recover previous versions of script file. Execute these scripts over a selected database. Compare databases by procedures (not only by name, by content of procedure), functions, table columns, packages etc. I am searching a program like that. Which one do you suggest me?

I have a table named Student as followed: CREATE TABLE "STUDENT" ( "ID" NUMBER(*,0), "NAME" VARCHAR2(20), "AGE" NUMBER(*,0), "CITY" VARCHAR2(20), PRIMARY KEY ("ID") ENABLE ) I am trying to get all the records of the students having a larger age than the average age. This is what I tried: SELECT * FROM student WHERE age > AVG(age) and SELECT * FROM student HAVING age > AVG(age) Both ways did not work!

  • Logging into oracle db as a global user

    - by kineas
We are trying to shape up an old, 2 tier, Delphi based application. It originally uses database authentication, we'd like to transform the db user accounts to global users, so an OID server could perform the authentication instead of the database. The Delphi program can no longer log into the database if the account is a global user. I'm trying to understand the login protocol, so far without results. Similar thing happens with SQLDeveloper, I can't connect as a global user. SQLPlus however works with both kinds of users. We checked the information flow with Wireshark. When the dbserver asks back for a password, the SQLPlus sends it, while the SQLDeveloper doesn't send a password when attempting to connect as a global user. The client sends the application name too in the login request. Is it possible that we have to store the client app name in the LDAP itself?

  • Set "Start With" value for Oracle sequence dynamically

    - by Allan
I'm trying to create a release script that can be deployed on multiple databases, but where the data can be merged back together at a later date. The obvious way to handle this is to set the sequence numbers for production data sufficiently high in subsequent deployments to prevent collisions. The problem is in coming up with a release script that will accept the environment number and set the "Start With" value of the sequences appropriately. Ideally, I'd like to use something like this: ACCEPT EnvironNum PROMPT 'Enter the Environment Number: ' --[more scripting] CREATE SEQUENCE seq1 START WITH &EnvironNum*100000; --[more scripting] This doesn't work because you can't evaluate a numeric expression in DDL. Another option is to create the sequences using dynamic SQL via PL/SQL. ACCEPT EnvironNum PROMPT 'Enter the Environment Number: ' --[more scripting] EXEC execute immediate 'CREATE SEQUENCE seq1 START WITH ' || &EnvironNum*100000; --[more scripting] However, I'd prefer to avoid this solution as I generally try to avoid issuing DDL in PL/SQL. Finally, the third option I've come up with is simply to accept the Start With value as a substitution variable, instead of the environment number. Does anyone have a better thought on how to go about this?

  • After Trigger execute before constraint check in oracle

    - by satakare
Hi, I have After Insert/Update trigger on Table T1 which get the referential data for Col1 from T2 and does some work and insert it into another table. The col1 is FK to Table T2. When user insert the incorrect or non existing value into the Col1 and if trigger is disabled I am getting constraint error that is fine. But when trigger is enabled and user insert the wrong value in Col1 trigger is getting fired and shows the 'no data found' error message. Actually I am expecting the table to throw constraint error, but trigger is throwing it. Please let me know your comments about this trigger behaviour.

  • connecting to a webservice from android - AsyncTask or Service?

    - by football
I'm writing an android app that will connect to a REST/JSON webservice. Users will be retrieving information, uploading comments, downloading and uploading images etc. I know that I shouldn't keep all this network communication in the Activity/UI thread, as it will cause ANRs. What I'm confused about is whether I should use an AsyncTask or a Service with "manual" threading to accomplish this; With a Service, I'd simply have a public method for each method in the webservice's API. I'd then implement threading within each of these methods. If I used an AsyncTask, I would create a helper class that defined AsyncTasks for each method in the webservice's API. Which method is preferred? Interaction with the webservice will only happen while the user is in the Activity. Once they switch to another application, or exit the program, there is no need for communication with the webservice.

  • Creating a [materialised]view from generic data in Oracle/Mysql

    - by Andrew White
I have a generic datamodel with 3 tables CREATE TABLE Properties ( propertyId int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, name varchar(80) NOT NULL ) CREATE TABLE Customers ( customerId int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, customerName varchar(80) NOT NULL ) CREATE TABLE PropertyValues ( propertyId int(11) NOT NULL, customerId int(11) NOT NULL, value varchar(80) NOT NULL ) INSERT INTO Properties VALUES (1, 'Age'); INSERT INTO Properties VALUES (2, 'Weight'); INSERT INTO Customers VALUES (1, 'Bob'); INSERT INTO Customers VALUES (2, 'Tom'); INSERT INTO PropertyValues VALUES (1, 1, '34'); INSERT INTO PropertyValues VALUES (2, 1, '80KG'); INSERT INTO PropertyValues VALUES (1, 2, '24'); INSERT INTO PropertyValues VALUES (2, 2, '53KG'); What I would like to do is create a view that has as columns all the ROWS in Properties and has as rows the entries in Customers. The column values are populated from PropertyValues. e.g. customerId Age Weight 1 34 80KG 2 24 53KG I'm thinking I need a stored procedure to do this and perhaps a materialised view (the entries in the table "Properties" change rarely). Any tips?

  • Compare values in each column of two Oracle Types

    - by colinjameswebb
I've been playing around with the pluto-test-framework today, and I'd like to get some existing functions into a test harness with it. I have lots of functions with this type of specification. FUNCTION DO_SOME_STUFF (pOldSchedule IN SCHEDULE_OBJ, pNewSchedule OUT SCHEDULE_OBJ, pLoggerContext IN OUT LOGGER_CONTEXT_OBJ) RETURN NUMBER; It takes pOldSchedule, does some stuff to it, and then returns pNewSchedule. The logger_context just does logging. As part of a test, I'd like to be able to compare the values in each of the columns of the type, without having to write individual IF statements. It'll need to return boolean to signify whether or not pOldSchedule and pNewSchedule match. Any ideas?

  • Service Bus / Request Forwarding

    - by codputer
I'm doing some development with a thrid party that issues either a Get or POST to a public URL that I specify. What I would like to do is set up a Relay service on the Azure Service Bus that my dev machine can listen to. When the request comes in, I want to forward that request as if my web service was taking the request directly from the thrid party service. When I'm ready, I'll deploy the application to a public service, change the URL that the thrid party service is sending too, and viola I should be up and running. What I'm looking for looks exactly like this: Clemens the Master of Service Bus but it's from the 2009 CTP. I'm working at it, but haven't yet got it working using all the new bits in 2012 (a.ka. its over my head at the moment). Somebody want to help? Clemens also help somebody else create a Reverse Proxy using the Service Bus, but I can't seem to find it. Yes I've also tweeted Clemens, but I'm sure he is a busy man! p.s. I know about Application Request Routing, but my dev machine is not on a public URL, I need to rewrite the URL after my client listener on the service bus recieves the message that was relayed from the Server side endpoint.

  • How to control the memory size of continuously running windows service?

    - by Snowill
Hi, I have created a windows service which is continuously polling a database. For this purpose i have a timer in place. Ever time i am querying a database table i open a connection and close it immediately after my work is done. Right now i am doing this every 20 seconds for testing purpose, but later this time might increase to 5 - 10 minutes. What happens is everytime the database table is polled there is an increase of 10-12 KB in the size of the memory of the service running. This i can see in the task manager. Is there any way to control this.

  • PHP Transferring Photos From One Oracle Database Table to Another

    - by Jonathan Swift
I am attempting to transfer a set of photos (blobs) from one table to another across databases. I'm nearly there, except for binding the photo parameter. I have the following code: $conn_db1 = oci_pconnect('username', 'password', 'db1'); $conn_db2 = oci_pconnect('username', 'password', 'db2'); $parse_db1_select = oci_parse($conn_db1, "SELECT REF PID, BINARY_OBJECT PHOTOGRAPH FROM BLOBS"); $parse_db2_insert = oci_parse($conn_db2, "INSERT INTO PHOTOGRAPHS (PID, PHOTOGRAPH) VALUES (:pid, :photo)"); oci_execute($parse_db1_select); while ($row = oci_fetch_assoc($parse_db1_select)) { $pid = $row['PID']; $photo = $row['PHOTOGRAPH']; oci_bind_by_name($parse_db2_insert, ':pid', $pid, -1, OCI_B_INT); // This line causes an error oci_bind_by_name($parse_db_insert, ':photo', $photo, -1, OCI_B_BLOB); oci_execute($parse_db2_insert); } oci_close($db1); oci_close($db2); But I get the following error, on the error line commented above: Warning: oci_execute() [function.oci-execute]: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel Process ID: 0 Session ID: 790 Serial number: 118 Does anyone know the right way to do this?

  • Copying metadata over a database link in Oracle 10g

    - by Tunde
    Thanks in advance for your help experts. I want to be able to copy over database objects from database A into database B with a procedure created on database B. I created a database link between the two and have tweaked the get_ddl function of the dbms_metadata to look like this: create or replace function GetDDL ( p_name in MetaDataPkg.t_string p_type in MetaDataPkg.t_string ) return MetaDataPkg.t_longstring is -- clob v_clob clob; -- array of long strings c_SYSPrefix constant char(4) := 'SYS_'; c_doublequote constant char(1) := '"'; v_longstrings metadatapkg.t_arraylongstring; v_schema metadatapkg.t_string; v_fullength pls_integer := 0; v_offset pls_integer := 0; v_length pls_integer := 0; begin SELECT DISTINCT OWNER INTO v_schema FROM all_objects@ENTORA where object_name = upper(p_name); -- get DDL v_clob := dbms_metadata.get_ddl(p_type, upper(p_name), upper(v_schema)); -- get CLOB length v_fullength := dbms_lob.GetLength(v_clob); for nIndex in 1..ceil(v_fullength / 32767) loop v_offset := v_length + 1; v_length := least(v_fullength - (nIndex - 1) * 32767, 32767); dbms_lob.read(v_clob, v_length, v_offset, v_longstrings(nIndex)); -- Remove table’s owner from DDL string: v_longstrings(nIndex) := replace( v_longstrings(nIndex), c_doublequote || user || c_doublequote || '.', '' ); -- Remove the following from DDL string: -- 1) "new line" characters (chr(10)) -- 2) leading and trailing spaces v_longstrings(nIndex) := ltrim(rtrim(replace(v_longstrings(nIndex), chr(10), ''))); end loop; -- close CLOB if (dbms_lob.isOpen(v_clob) > 0) then dbms_lob.close(v_clob); end if; return v_longstrings(1); end GetDDL; so as to remove the schema prefix that usually comes with metadata. I get a null value whenever I run this function over the database link with the following queries. select getddl( 'TABLE', 'TABLE1') from user_tables@ENTORA where table_name = 'TABLE1'; select getddl( 'TABLE', 'TABLE1') from dual@ENTORA; t_string is varchar2(30) t_longstring is varchar2(32767) and type t_ArrayLongString is table of t_longstring I would really appreciate it if any one could help. Many thanks.

  • oracle hibernate + maven dependenciesm dbcp.basicdatasource exception

    - by Joe
I'm trying to create a web application using maven, tomcat and hibernate. Now I'm getting a cannot find class for org.appache.commons.dbcp.basicdatasource for bean with name datasource... exception. Without the hibernate aspects it works fine, but if I add <bean id="sessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.LocalSessionFactoryBean"> <property name="dataSource" ref="dataSource"/> <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle10gDialect</prop> <prop key="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">create</prop> <prop key="hibernate.show_sql">true</prop> </props> </property> <property name="mappingResources"> <list> </list> </property> </bean> to my applicationContext then I get the error. What I did was: -add org.hibernate to my pom -put ojdbc16.jar in my tomcat bin folder -add the above snippet to my applicationContext.xml I use a bat file to compile my project (using maven), copy it to my tomcat webapp folder and to start the server. Any input on what I'm doing wrong is welcome.

  • How to run an executable as a system service?

    - by byanity
I've got a file and data distribution application written in .NET 2.0 I've written similar to Steam. This application will need to run in Windows 7 and will need to be able to run and install applications that require administrator rights. However the users will not have admin rights. My thought was to run the application as a Local System Service. I figured by doing this the application could perform admin rights actions (registry edits, launching apps, etc) when the user isn't an admin. Are my assumptions correct? What steps do I need to take to have this app install as a Local System Service? An Administrator will be installing the application but it will be run by a user without Administrator rights. Thanks in advance!

  • Oracle XE + ODP.NET ANNOYING VIEW ERROR

Any ideas? The Application code works perfecty with any query so its not application code error but prolly some "super cool feature" from ODP.NET. Already tried to_number, to_whatever and same error always happens.

  • Best way to dynamically get column names from oracle tables

    - by MNC
Hi, We are using an extractor application that will export data from the database to csv files. Based on some condition variable it extracts data from different tables, and for some conditions we have to use UNION ALL as the data has to be extracted from more than one table. So to satisfy the UNION ALL condition we are using nulls to match the number of columns. Right now all the queries in the system are pre-built based on the condition variable. The problem is whenever there is change in the table projection (i.e new column added, existing column modified, column dropped) we have to manually change the code in the application. Can you please give some suggestions how to extract the column names dynamically so that any changes in the table structure do not require change in the code? My concern is the condition that decides which table to query. The variable condition is like if the condition is A, then load from TableX if the condition is B then load from TableA and TableY. We must know from which table we need to get data. Once we know the table it is straightforward to query the column names from the data dictionary. But there is one more condition, which is that some columns need to be excluded, and these columns are different for each table. I am trying to solve the problem only for dynamically generating the list columns. But my manager told me to make solution on the conceptual level rather than just fixing. This is a very big system with providers and consumers constantly loading and consuming data. So he wanted solution that can be general. So what is the best way for storing condition, tablename, excluded columns? One way is storing in database. Are there any other ways? If yes what is the best? As I have to give at least a couple of ideas before finalizing. Thanks,
