  • oracle display for every stored procedure the execution time

    Hi all. I'm working on a stored procedure. Inside this one, there are many call to the other stored procedures. There are a bunch of them. I was wondering if there is a option to be able to have the execution time of every stored procedure involved, every function (with a start and end time, ior something like that). The idea is that I need to optimise it and I should touch every part, and since I not sure where is the longest execution time, is a bit difficult. And after a modification I would like the see the hole process if it's shorter or not. If I call the procedure from unix, using sql plus, I have no log. If I call it from TOAD, it's blocked until the end. Any idea? I'm not a dba, so I don't have many rights on the database, I'm just a regular user. Thanks for any advice. C.C.

  • Oracle: delete suddenly taking a long time

    Hi We have a feed process which runs every day of the year. As part of that we delete every row from a table (approx 1 million rows) every day, repopulate it using 5 different stored procedures and then commit the transaction. This is the only commit statement that we call. All of a sudden the delete has started takign about 2 hours to complete. The delete is also very simple (delete from T_PROFILE_WORK) This has worked perfectly well for the past year, but in the past week i have noticed this issue. Any help on this is greatly appreciated Thanks Damien

    At the moment I'm trying to make a connection to a local server. Connecting via, say, TOAD works fine. When I try to connect using .NET I get ora-12154.   • Definitive list of service providers in Visual Studio 2010?

    VS2010 has made it easy to write extensions via MEF exports and imports. However, if you want to do anything useful you have to know what service provider(s) you need to implement your super awesoem extension. Unfortunately, this information is often spread out all over the place, not well documented or both. What I'd really love to see is a comprehensive list of all service providers that you can import into your VS extension, and what those providers... um, provide. Has anybody seen something like that?

    i am trying to compile a c-based forms api program on Linux x86_64 using command gcc -m32 -I"$ORACLE_HOME/forms/api" -L"$ORACLE_HOME/forms/lib" -L"$ORACLE_HOME/lib" -ld2f fapi.c it fails with a bunch of undefined references. $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `sifom' $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `idfrsti' $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `simmal' etc... does anyone know the list of all the library files i need to add?

  • Oracle PL/SQL: Dump query result into file

    Hi. I'm working on a pl sql stored procedure. What I need is to do a select, use a cursor and for every record build a string using values. At the end I need to write this into a file. I try to use dbms_output.put_line("toto") but the buffer size is to small because I have about 14 millions lines. I call my procedure from a unix ksh. I'm thinking at something like using "spool on" (on the ksh side) to dump the result of my procedure, but I don' know how to do it (if this is possible) Anyone has any idea? Thank alot. C.C.

    Hello. I'm working on a sql query, and trying to optimise it, because it takes too long to execute. I have a few select and UNION between. Every select is on the same table but with different condition in WHERE clause. Basically I have allways something like : select * from A where field1 <"toto" and field2 IN (...) UNION select * from A where field1 >"toto2" and field2 =(...) UNION .... I have a index on field1 (it a date field, and field2 is a number). Now, when I do the select and if I put only WHERE field1 <'12/12/2010' it does not use the index. I'm using Toad to see the explain plain and it said: SELECT STAITEMENT Optimiser Mode = CHOOSE TABLE ACCESS FULL It is a huge table, and the index on this column is there. Any idea about this optimiser ? And why it does not uses the index ? Another question is , if I have where clause on field1 and field2 , I have to create only one index, or one index for each field ? The ocbi resides on a different server from the running application.     How could I adapt this query to show the previous 61 weeks? (still exlcluding the current week). My query currently shows me the total weekly sales for 2010 grouped by ISO Week and ISO Year (exlcuding the current week). select to_char(order_date,'IYYY') as iso_year, to_char(order_date,'IW') as iso_week, sum(sale_amount) from orders where to_char(order_date,'IW') <> to_char(SYSDATE) and to_char(order_date,'IYYY') = 2010 group by to_char(order_date,'IYYY') to_char(order_date,'IW') I realize I could probably just omit the "2010" requirement, order by desc and limit results to a certain bnumber of rows. But that just doesn't seem right! Much appreciate any help pointing me in the right direction!

    I have some procedures to execute in the database that has an OUT REFCURSOR parameter. When I am connecting with the JDBC thin client, everything works fine. However, if I were to change the connection string to refer to the ODBC data source pointing to the same database, those procedures will fail. The procedures that do not use an OUT REFCURSOR will still work fine though. Is this situation the result of an error on my part or expected?

    I have a background Android Service that's purpose is to communicate with another device (non-phone) using a Bluetooth socket. Everything works fine except that the service gets stopped and restarted by the OS when the phone display is sleeping. This restart sometimes leaves a 15-20 minute gaps where there is no communication between the Service and the Bluetooth device and I need to be able to query the device every minute. Is startForeground the proper approach?
