• PLESK Original php.ini files needed

  Hello, I am using PLESK 9.2.3 with CentOS 5. I recently tried to change some things in the php.ini files, but i ended up clearing both files. stupid mistake! Is there a possibility i can get the content of both files back. I am talking about the files: /etc/php.ini /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini or was it /etc/php.ini /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/.php.ini When i browse to my PLESK panel i get the error message: Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required 'auth.php3' (include_path='.:') in Unknown on line 0 Thats as much information i can get, i hope someone can make some sense of all this Regrads EDIT: I ended up just reinstalling plesk which was fairly easy. Something like yum install psa-plesk. There was a guide i followed, and everything worked out ok

• Using old code on new version of Visual Studio [migrated]

  I have a project which was started from 90s in C/C++. Therefore, it contains many old coding styles such as K&R-style function declaration, obsolete function, ... The project works fine in Visual Studio 2008, but now I want to use it in the new version of Visual Studio (specifically VS 2010) because we have other projects in Visual Studio 2010/2012. I don't want to have too many versions of Visual Studio on my machine. When I try to compile the old project, Visual Studio throws too many errors. I can fix all of them but I am scared to edit the source code and I want other people to be able to pen it in the old version of VS too. I want the project to remain backwards compatible with VS. My question is how to use the old code in Visual Studio 2010/2012 without changing the code. Or if necessary how do I just fix a few lines of code, but make sure it won't cause an error if someone else opens that code in the older version of VS. Is there a way to tell newer Visual Studio versions to use older compiler flags or something like that?

• IMAP/POP won't send allow emails to outside- New Dell PowerEdge 7310 running SBS 2011

  I have a brand new out of the box Dell PowerEdge T310 running SBS 2011. Our employees at our remote offices can't send emails to recipients outside of our own domain. The workstations at the same location as the server aren't having any problem. I would at this time like to say "Thanks a lot" to the super-minds at Microsoft for protecting our email server from rogue computers attempting to send fake emails. (Silly me I thought proper login and password conventions would handle that.) I know this is something dealing with relaying but thus far nothing from any posts I've read have changed anything. Honestly, if someone is crafty enough to guess one of our login/password combos, let them send emails through our server I don't care!

• HAProxy authenticated httpchk (health check)

  I am using HAProxy on EC2 and using httpchk to manage node availability. I had used a pseudo-unique path as the health check route in an attempt to make sure only my servers responded to the health check. Earlier today I had an EC2 server fall out of existence, and before the haproxy config was auto-regenerated (controller issues), Amazon had reassigned the IP to someone whom 200's every request (honeypot?), my HAProxy host then pulled the server back into rotation and started distributing some of my traffic there until the controller recovered and removed the ip from the list. TLDR; Is there a way to add a server authentication method to HAProxy's httpchk?

• spawn-fcgi/ fast CGi php crashes without traces in logs, on Gentoo

  Hello, I recently moved from apache to a Nginx/fastcgi solution, I had it running on a Fedora system and had no problems, but, since i moved all to Gentoo , the Spawn-fCGI / fastcgi php daemon dies, and i can't find out any errors reports on /var/log/messages , so i don't know why this happens. I've seen that fastcgi is somehow different from the fedora distro, on gentoo as it has different conf files and init.d startup scripts, Can someone help me make it more stable? The number of requests that i had isn't any different from the ones I had on fedora, so i use the default conf that comes with the distro..and in about some hours it simply dies... • Photoshop - Turning white photo to dark photo

  I've taken the original photo and I was playing around in photoshop and got to amended photo. I was stupid enough to not to save the file in psd or remember how I've done it. However,I definitely remember I pressed Invert (command +I / Control +I) and my white photo turned to proportioned dark photo. Does anybody know how? It was very simple step. • Add a Search Box to the Drop-Down Tab List in Firefox

  Do you have a lot of tabs open no matter what time of day it is and find sorting through the tabs list frustrating? Then get control back with the List All Tabs Menu extension for Firefox. Before If you have a large number of tabs open using the “Tab List Menu” can start to become a little awkward. You can use your mouse’s middle button to scroll through the list or the tiny arrow button at the bottom but there needs to be a better way to deal with this. After Once you have installed the extension you will notice two differences in the “Tab List Menu”. There will be a search box available and a nice scrollbar for those really long lists. A closer look at the search box and scrollbar setup… Depending on your style you can use the scrollbar to look for a particular page or enter a search term and watch that list become extremely manageable. A closer look at our much shorter list after conducting a search. Definitely not hard to find what we were looking for at all. Conclusion If you are someone who has lots of tabs open at once throughout the day then the List All Tabs Menu extension might be the perfect tool to help you sort and manage those tabs. • Windows 2008 Group Policy Setting? - Migration Headache

  I have a small domain of users that I just migrated from a linux domain running open-ldap. Our new servers are running Windows 2008 Standard. I've installed Active Directory and everything is working perfectly... except that the initial user privileges is pretty restrictive and I need to loosen it up a bit. For example once they login to their workstations, they can create new files and folders but can not modify existing files or start. I basically want to open it all up except for software installations. Can someone please help with with this migration headache?

• Add IP Address without Plesk

  I have an dedicated unmanaged server and added a few IP addresses to it (allocated), and the only information my hosting company has provided is instructions on how to use Plesk to Add IP Addresses. However, one of the first things I did was uninstall Plesk (for numerous reasons). Does anyone know what exactly Plesk does when you "Add IP Address"? Does it just create an alias on the default interface (I currently only have one and the loopback)? I can manage that myself without Plesk, but I was hoping someone might know if there is anything else Plesk does. I also have DHCP Client running (eth0 is static), not sure why my hosting company put that there either, and not sure if they're related.

• Multiple stores for the same niche

  I started developing a new niche of products in my country about 3 years ago. That's when I opened my first store. Everything went fine, until a year ago, when someone I thought was a friend secretly stole my idea and made his own competing store. I was pretty upset when I caught him and decided to make it as difficult as possible for him, so I made another 4 stores, trying to get him as low as possible in the search results. The new sites have similar products (although not 100% identical), slightly different titles, images and prices. They look different and are built on different e-commerce platforms. They are all hosted on the same server, have roughly the same backlinks, use the same Google account for Analytics, have the same support phone numbers etc etc. I wasn't thinking that I'm doing something fishy, so I didn't try to hide anything. Trouble is that those sites, after doing fine for a few months, dropped like bricks in search results, almost to the point that they can't be found at all. At the moment, the only site that ranks relatively well is the original one and a couple of secondary pages with no importance from one of the other sites. How did this happen? Does Google have something against this practice? Did they take action by themselves when they realized that I was trying to monopolize this niche, or did my competitor report me for some kind of webspam? And more importantly, what do I do now? Do I shutdown all but my original site and 301 redirect users to it from the others? Can I report my competitor for engaging in the same practice? (He fought back and now he has 3-4 sites, some of which still rank kind of OKish, also he has no idea about web development, SEO or marketing, he just crudely copies what I do and is slowly but surely starting to do better than me).

• Logitech MK300 : "no driver found"

  Hi I bought kewyboard and mouse from Logitech. The model is MK300. I wanna run 64-bits Windows 7 with this. When I connect the USB-receiver, Windows is trying to install it but gives me the error message: "no driver found". I tried to download SetPoint 4.80, but that didn't help. I have rebooted the computer several of times, tried different USB'ports, and have allso tried menye different mouses from Logitech. Non of this works. Have someone any suggestions for how I can fix my problem?

• Book Review: Getting Started With Window 8 Apps By Ben Dewey

  When O’Reilly gave me an opportunity to review this book I was excited.  It gave me a reason to finally put some time into this new platform and what developers will need to learn in order to be successful. This book by Ben Dewey is only 92 pages long, so if you were looking for an in-depth treatment of Windows 8 development you will need supplemental materials.  It is also due for an update from the perspective of recent changes made by Microsoft prior to the final release of the OS and tools.  This causes a few issues if you try to run the code samples because of namespace changes. I was encouraged by the fact that the author didn’t do the typical “hello world” app.  He uses a lot of pattern based development techniques and hits many of the main topics including: Application lifecycle Charms integration Tiles Sensors The lifecycle is critical for anyone who hasn’t done mobile development before.  Limited resources on these devices mean that the OS can suspend or kill your app altogether if it decides it needs to.  He covers tombstoning which is the key to Windows 8 and Windows Phone lifecycle management. He also dedicates a chapter to marketing and distributing the application you build.  From my experience with Windows Phone development this is crucial information.  You need to know how to test your application so that it is going to pass certification and present your app so that it is going to get noticed amongst thousands of other apps. The main things that I wish had been in the book explanations of more of the common controls and more complete explanation of patterns that were implemented. • What am I (a beginner) losing, by choosing Cherokee over Apache for serving dynamic content?

  I am a complete beginner and am planning to setup a photo sharing site. This is the setup I am planning, basically for a start - - Cherokee (instead of Apache) for serving dynamic content (python-based application), and Nginx for serving static files. Since, I am a beginner, what have I, to lose? So, can someone, from your experience, please tell me, what I'd lose by choosing Cherokee over Apache for serving dynamic content in PHP/Python/whatever? Anything other than the fact that there's lot of documentation, many people who can help when there's an issue etc as Apache is well established and the most popular web server? Again, my intention is not to spurt a flame war here. Just wanted to know if Cherokee would be better than Apache in terms of performance, reliability, and speed, when it matters (peak load times). Also, I heard it's a lot faster than Apache in serving dynamic content, is it true?

• New Windows 7 Libraries created keep disappearing

  I've just got a new laptop that came pre-installed with Windows 7 Professional edition. One of the new features of Windows 7 is Libraries. I'm familiar with how this works and am trying to create my own library called 'Work' to include all my work folders on my computer. However every time I create a new custom Library, after I rename it, it disappears from my Library menu. Each time I click Libraries in the Explorer, I keep seeing the same 4 default libraries, I.e. Documents, Pictures, Music, and Video. So when I try to create a new Library called 'Work' again, I get a pop up message "Do you want to rename New library to Work (2).Library-Microsoft?" Which means that my original work library still exists but for some reason I can't see it. Can someone please help me figure out why this is happening?

  Accessing your system’s settings in Windows 8 is not exactly the most straight-forward of processes, so if you need to change your settings often, then it can be a bit frustrating. • Ctrl + right click opens mutiple items instead of selecting them. How do I fix this?

  Something happened to my keyboard and or mouse controls. I have a Logitech T-BB18 trackwheel and an hp NY418AA Keyboard. When I use the mouse in Windows mail and click the delete button it deletes two emails instead of one and opens all the emails that I have selected when I ctrl + click on multiple emails to select them. When I'm in Windows Explorer ctrl + click and multiple select opens all of the files that I have selected instead of just selecting them. I really need to fix this behavior. Can someone help please?

• Faster two way Boomark/History Sync for Firefox?

  I need a fast automatic two-way bookmark & history sync. Firefox sync seems too slow because I might bookmark/visit a URL then within a few mins put desktop to sleep and leave the house; if it hasn't synced, then I don't have a way of getting it on my laptop (or vice versa). My home upload is only around 200kbps so maybe that's why FF sync seems slow? (I mean it's minutes, not seconds slow). I have read there are a few ways like xmarks/delicious/google but I don't want clutter like extra toolbars or have to visit a site to get bookmarks, they should be as native in the Firefox bookmarks bar as possible, organised in the folders/tags. I know someone must have experimented/know more about this. Thanks.

• Computer shutsdowns when trying to boot

  I have an IBM ThinkCentre, and I was talking to someone on Skype when it suddenly just shutoff. When I rebooted it asked me to start windows normally or in safe mode, but as soon I choose an option (Any of them) it shuts back down. So I thought it was a problem with windows and tired booting from a Hirens disk, but same thing. I've been using this computer without problems for over a year know. Any idea's for me to try? Unfortunatly I don't have any powersupplies or extra RAM to switch out to try anything like that. EDIT I left it off for a while and it's booting to windows now. I would still like to know what might have been causing it to do that if you have any ideas.

• What is this jumper for on my new motherboard?

  I am building a new PC, I just got my motherboard in the mail today. It is a ASRock X58 Extreme 3. I am reading over the manual for it and one of the jumpers says this. There is a 3 pin jumper labeled 1 2 3, with pins 1 and 2 shorted by default it is "+5v" If I manually change it to short jumper pins 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2 then it will be "+5vSB (standby) for PS/2 or USB wake up events. So I am confused as to exactly what this is for. Can someone explain what it means, why I would want one other the other?

• Seeking glass lcd montiors with LED backlight

  The only LCD monitors with glass fronts and LED back-lighting I can find are the ones by Apple. And they only sell a 24" one at 2.4x the price of any other 24" monitor at 1920x1200, and a 30" one, which honestly I can't put on my desk. Oh, and the 24" one uses a mini-display port plug only. So I'd be out of luck until there's display side adapter available. I am generally looking for a 16:10 or 4:3 rather than 16:9 monitor. It would be awesome if someone could find another, cheaper, monitor that isn't fronted by a plastic film, but rather with glass. It would be double awesome if said monitor was also 120hz so that I can use nVidia's 3D goggles. Update: One month and 16 days later I seem to not be the only one that can't find another glass based computer lcd monitor. LED backlighting is available though.

  I came across this example today and I wondered how reliable Linux file permissions are for hiding information $ mkdir fooledYa $ mkdir fooledYa/ohReally $ chmod 0300 fooledYa/ $ cd fooledYa/ $ ls >>> ls: cannot open directory .: Permission denied $ cd ohReally $ ls -ld . >>> drwxrwxr-x 2 user user 4096 2012-05-30 17:42 . Now I am not a Linux OS expert, so I have no doubt that someone out there will explain to me that this is perfectly logical from the OS's point of view. However, my question still stands, is it possible to fool, not hack, the OS into letting you view files/inode info which you are not supposed to? What if I had issued the command chmod 0000 fooledYa, could an experienced programmer find some round about way to read a file such as fooledYa/ohReally/foo.txt?
