• Vim: How do I tell where a function is defined? (

  I just installed macvim yesterday and I installed vim latex today. One of the menu items is calling a broken fuction (TeX-Suite -> view). When I click on the menu-time it makes this call: :silent! call Tex_ViewLatex() Question: Where can I find that function? Is there some way to figure out where it is defined? • A basic load test question

  I have a very basic load test question. I am running a load test using VSTS 2008 and I have test rig with controller + 10 agents. This load test is against a SharePoint farm I have. My goal of the load test is to find out the resource utilization on web+app+db tiers of my farm for any given load scenario. An example of a load scenario is Usage profile: Average collaboration (as defined by SCCP) User Load: 500 (using step load pattern=a step of 50 every 2 mins and a warm up time of 2mins for every step) Think time: 0 Load duration: 8hrs Now, the question is: Is it fair to expect that metrics like Requests/sec, %processor time on web front end / App / DB, Test/sec, and etc become flat or enter a steady state at one point in time during the load test. Like I said, the goal is not to create a bottleneck but to only measure the utilization of resources by the above load profile. I am asking this question because I see something different. At one point in the load test, requests/sec becomes more or less flat. But processor utilization on the web/DB servers keeps increasing. After digging through the data a bit, I see that "tests running" counter also steadily increased over time. So, if I run the load test for more than 8hrs, %processor may go up further. This way, I don't know what to consider as the load excreted by the load profile. What does this "tests running" counter really signify? How is this different from tests/sec? Another question is: how can I find out why "tests running" counter shows an increase overtime? Thanks for your time

• Multi-user job/task tracking/queue software

  Background: I test and repair electronic products with a team. There are many 'jobs' going through my lab at any point in time. It is getting difficult to track whats coming in and going out because I don't do every test or repair myself. Target: User can enter a job when they drop it off in my lab, and it will appear on the master list or queue. Needs to have priorities and due dates that can be adjusted by users. Ideally this would be web based and open-source, but I am flexible. Dream: A large monitor displaying a list of jobs in the master queue with details. This is very optional though, and would be in the best case scenario. I have done MANY hours of Google-ing and I am not sure if I have been using the right terminology, but I have not found anything that is simple enough to stand alone yet complex enough to be multi-user based. I am mildly proficient in VB, and have the drive to piece anything together that I have to. I am open to ANY help or suggestions.

• Refresh page using cache

  I am trying to refresh a page, but WANT to use the cache and can't figure out how to do this. There are two situations: If I click in the URL bar and hit enter (or visit the page from somewhere else) it reloads the page/images from the cache. GREAT! If I click on the refresh button or use Javascript to refresh the page it grabs all the images again and takes forever. NOT GREAT! I've tried: top.location.reload(false); and top.location.reload(true); (I'm sending this from in an iFrame) and neither used the cache. I'm avoiding using location so it doesn't end up in the browser history twice. Question: How do I reload the page using the cached images? Is there a different javascript function or is this a mod_expires issue? Thanks for any help in advance! EDIT: (info from chrome: developer tools) When navigating to the page I get "From Cache" for all images When refreshing page I get "304 - Not Modified" for all images (and it takes the time to download each)

• how do i make the app take correct input..?

  This is my windows app's one layout which converts Celsius to Fahrenheit. The problem is that when I try to input the temperature it shows some junk(for eg: if i enter '3' it displayin '3.0000009') and sometimes its even showing stack overflow exception. • Repeater not working fine when passed a dataprovider (array) having a single element

  I am using a Repeater in an Accordian which does not appear to see a single element in userArray. If I add another entry to userArray then the Repeater works fine. • php weird bug where an array is not an array !

  I've been going mad trying to figure out why an array would not be an array in php. For a reason I can't understand I have a bug in a smarty class. I tried renaming the variable, but same problem. I'm sure is something simple that I missed but I can't figure it out. Any help is (as always) welcomed !

• C++: Case statement within while loop?

  I just started C++ but have some prior knowledge to other languages (vb awhile back unfortunately), but have an odd predicament. I disliked using so many IF statements and wanted to use switch/cases as it seemed cleaner, and I wanted to get in the practice.. But.. Lets say I have the following scenario (theorietical code): while(1) { //Loop can be conditional or 1, I use it alot, for example in my game char something; std::cout << "Enter something\n -->"; std::cin >> something; //Switch to read "something" switch(something) { case 'a': cout << "You entered A, which is correct"; break; case 'b': cout << "..."; break; } } And that's my problem. Lets say I wanted to exit the WHILE loop, It'd require two break statements? This obviously looks wrong: case 'a': cout << "You entered A, which is correct"; break; break; So can I only do an IF statement on the 'a' to use break;? Am I missing something really simple? This would solve a lot of my problems that I have right now.

• How do I call C++/CLI (.NET) DLLs from standard, unmanaged non-.NET applications?

  In the unmanaged world, I was able to write a __declspec(dllexport) or, alternatively, use a .DEF file to expose a function to be able to call a DLL. (Because of name mangling in C++ for the __stdcall, I put aliases into the .DEF file so certain applications could re-use certain exported DLL functions.) Now, I am interested in being able to expose a single entry-point function from a .NET assembly, in unmanaged-fashion, but have it enter into .NET-style functions within the DLL. Is this possible, in a simple and straight-forward fashion? What I have is a third-party program that I have extended through DLLs (plugins) that implement some complex mathematics. However, the third-party program has no means for me to visualize the calculations. I want to somehow take these pre-written math functions, compile them into a separate DLL (but using C++/CLI in .NET), but then add hooks to the functions so I can render what's going on under the hood in a .NET user control. I'm not sure how to blend the .NET stuff with the unmanaged stuff, or what to Google to accomplish this task. Specific suggestions with regard to the managed/unmanaged bridge, or alternative methods to accomplish the rendering in the manner I have described would be helpful. Thank you.

• Validation errors prevent the property setter being called

  Hi, I am looking for a simple solution to the following problem: I am using a simple TextBox control with the Text property bound to a property in the code behind. Additionally I am using a validation rule to notify the user of malformed input. ... error display style here ... Now after entering valid data into the TextBox the user can hit a button to send the data. When clicking the button the data from the bound property UserName in the code behind is evaluated and sent. The problem is that a user can enter valid data into the TextBox and this will be set in the property UserName. If the user then decides to change the text in the TextBox and the data becomes invalid, the setter of the property UserName is not called after the failed validation. This means that the last valid data remains in the property UserName, while the TextBox display the invalid data with the error indicator. If the user then clicks on the button to send the data, the last valid data will be sent instead of the current TextBox content. I know I could deactivate the button if the data is invalid and in fact I do, but the method is called in the setter of UserName. And if that is not called after a failed validation the button stays enabled. So the question is: How do I enable calling of the property setter after a failed validation?

  Ihave been looking for an LIKE autocompletion mode. can anyone help me with this. When i enter a text in the combobox, the database should be asked for the data. all that goes well. But then i want my combobox to behave like the Suggest mode, but it doesn't work. • mod_rewrite failing on uppercase dir

  I have a very basic mod_rewrite in a .htaccess file which I'm sure worked last time I looked at it, but now it is doing strange things with the case of the REQUEST_URI. It's intended purpose is to rewrite sub-domains to a given file, passing the subdomain as a php var of bnurl. Here is my code: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}= "RSDEV/location/" [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} . RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^([^.]+)\.mydomain\.co\.uk(:80)? [NC] RewriteRule ^RSDEV/location/$ RSDEV/newmain.php?bnurl=%1&accesstype=new [NC,L] Now, typing joebloggs.mydomain.co.uk/RSDEV/location/ into my web browser comes back with the response "The requested URL /RSDEV/location/ was not found on this server" which is a correct statement because /RSDEV/location/ is not a real directory, but why did it not rewrite to RSDEV/newmain.php?bnurl=joebloggs&accesstype=new as expected? Now, the really strange thing here is that if I enter joebloggs.mydomain.co.uk/rsdev/location/ into my browser (note rsdev is now lowercase), it correctly rewrites as expected. The script newmain.php is in dir RSDEV (uppercase) so if it was going to fail, I would have expected it to fail the other way round with the lowercase rsdev. As you can see, I have [NC] on each line. Is this my mod_rewrite code failing or some other mystical server force keeping me up all night?

• How do you send an extended-ascii AT-command (CCh) from Android bluetooth to a serial device?

  This one really has me banging my head. I'm sending alphanumeric data from an Android app, through the BluetoothChatService, to a serial bluetooth adaptor connected to the serial input of a radio transceiver. Everything works fine except when I try to configure the radio on-the-fly with its AT-commands. The AT+++ (enter command mode) is received OK, but the problem comes with the extended-ascii characters in the next two commands: Changing the radio destination address (which is what I'm trying to do) requires CCh 10h (plus 3 hex radio address bytes), and exiting the command mode requires CCh ATO. I know the radio can be configured OK because I've done it on an earlier prototype with the serial commands from PIC basic, and it also can be configured by entering the commands directly from hyperterm. Both these methods somehow convert that pesky CCh into a form the radio understands. I've have tried just about everything an Android noob could possibly come up with to finagle the encoding such as: private void command_address() { byte[] addrArray = {(byte) 0xCC, 16, 36, 65, 21, 13}; CharSequence addrvalues = EncodingUtils.getString(addrArray, "UTF-8"); sendMessage((String) addrvalues); } but no matter what, I can't seem to get that high-order byte (CCh/204/-52) to behave as it should. All other (< 127) bytes, command or data, transmit with no problem. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. -Dave

  Hi, i am very new at jquery and code, here i am trying to get the setTimeout event to be inside the .mouseout event but i'm not sure how to do that as i keep getting syntax error in my editor. Moving the mouse to the .slidedown div should keep it open until the mouse is removed. But will this code collapse the .slidedown div if the user doesn't mouse over .slidedown after .trigger but instead moves the mouse directly from .trigger to another area of page? I.e i need some kind of 'setTimeout' that is trigged only if the user doesn't move mouse over .slidedown after hovering over .trigger. Hope i make sense. Thanks for your help!

  I am SUPER new to programming and have my first assignment coming up in python. I am writing a hangman type game, where users are required to guess the word inputted from the other user. I have written most of the code, but the only problem I am having is when users have to input the word, making sure it is only limited to the alphabet. The code I have so far is : word = str.lower(raw_input("Type in your secret word! Shhhh... ")) answer = True while answer == True: for i in range(len(word)): if word[i] not in ("abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz"): word = raw_input("Sorry, words only contain letters. Please enter a word ") break else: answer = False This works while I input a few tries, but eventually will either exit the loop or displays an error. Is there any easier way to use this? We've really only covered topics up to loops in class, and break and continue are also very new to me. Thank you! (Pardon if the code is sloppy, but as I said I am very new to this....)

• Trying to instantiate a class member in C++ with a variable name

  Hello. I am writing a program for class that is asking us to create a class of "book". We are then supposed to create new instantiations of that class upon demand from the user. I am new to C++ so I am attempting to code this out but am running into a problem. The main problem is how do I instantiate a class with a variable if I don't know how many I will have to do ahead of time. The user could ask to add 1 book or 1000. I am looking at this basic code: This is the simple code I started with. I wanted to have an index int keep a number and have the book class I create be called by that int (0, 1, 2, etc...) So I attempted to convert the incoming index int into a string, but I'm kind of stuck from here. void addBook(int index){ string bookName; std::stringstream ss; ss << index; book bookName; cout << "Enter the Books Title: "; cin >> bookName.title; } But obviously this doesn't work as "bookName" is a string to the computer and not the class member I tried to create. All of the tutorials I have seen online and in my text show the classes being instantiated with names in the code, but I just don't know how to make it variable so I can create any amount of "books" that the user might want.   I have a class called Question that represents a question and it's answer. I have an application that renders an ObservableCollection of Question objects. Each Question is rendered as a StackPanel that contains a TextBlock for the question verbiage, and a TextBox for the user to enter in an answer. The questions are rendered using an ItemsControl, and I have initially set the Style of the Questions's StackPanel using a StaticResource key called 'IncorrectQuestion' (defined in UserControl.Resources section of the page). In the UserControl.Resources section, I've also defined a key calld 'CorrectQuestion' which I need to somehow apply to the Question's StackPanel when the user correctly answers the question. My problem is I'm not sure how to dynamically change the Style of the StackPanel, specifically within the constraints of a ViewModel class (i.e. I don't want to put any style selection code in the View's code-behind). My Question class has an IsCorrect property which is accurately being set when the correction is answered. I'd like to somehow reflect the IsCorrect value in the form of a Style selection. How do I do that?

  I am trying to implementing deadlock condition but somehow I am not able to get it working. Both the threads Thread1 and Thread2 are entering in the run function but only one of them enters in Sub/Sum depending on who entered run first. Example : if Thread2 entered run first the it will call sub() and Thread1 never calls sum(). • How to move positions within an array?

  A program that simply moves array elements. Two variables: userInputVariable and blankSpaceVariable. I have a 2D array named table. Defined as table[userInputVariable + 1][6] I am printing out this array in a table format, and the far left column is numbered by whatever number the user entered at the beginning of the program. I then ask the user where they would like to enter a blank space within the array. This blank space acts like a divider for all the other information in the array. For example, if the user enters 10 at the start for the userInputVariable, and then enters 5 for the blank space. Once printed, the numbers should go like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, --, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. My plan has been to create a for loop and try to move all the numbers in the array back a position starting from the blank space variable. What I currently have, but does not work: for (int i = blankSpaceVariable; i < table.length - 1; i++) { table[i] = table[i + 1]; } table[blankSpaceVariable] = "--"; With my current code, the numbers go like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Tried completing this a few different ways also, but the other info within my 2D array didn't move with the numbers. So I thought that this approach can hopefully move all the info within my 2D array down, and make way for a blank section. All help is greatly appreciated!

• What is the "un-tab" sequence in (g)Vim?

  This is an annoyance I've had for a long time. (Nitpicky section: I prefer 4 space characters to tab characters. It's a lot easier to type "tab" instead of explaining that. When I say "tab", I mean "the action that happens when you press the tab key" which is probably more simply stated as "increase indentation".) I'm using smartindent while editing a document where indentation has some significance. In "dumb" windows text editors I can press Shift+Tab to remove a tab or, more appropriately, decrease the indentation level of the current line. I can't figure out how to do this from edit mode in Vim; Shift+Tab seems to count just the same as Tab. I know in Command mode << will decrease indentation. I want the equivalent in edit mode. These are the solutions I've found so far and why I don't like them, one in particular may be the key to the answer. Use Notepad++ or some other dumb editor. I've done this for a couple of years but I really miss Vim. Exit edit mode, use <<, enter edit mode. This just puts the cursor at column 0; if I wanted this I wouldn't have tried smartindent. Stop using smartindent. I don't decrease indent as often as I need to keep the same indent level; this would be a loss of productivity. The left arrow key seems to decrease the indent by one level. I'd rather something I can do without leaving the home row. This is the most promising choice. Maybe there's an option I can set? Maybe I can rebind left arrow to something? (If it requires rebinding please explain in detail; I've never delved into reconfiguring (g)Vim.
